Very helpful staff! Pretty busy bike shop, which is nice to see someone small and local thriving. Let me take a bike around a couple blocks before purchasing. Added on a couple accessories that they installed for me. I didn't have my bike rack with me, so they even helped me put it in my car. Everything came with warranty paperwork etc. Wish I lived closer to this shop, I would be here more often! Just happened to be passing through. read more

This place is GOATED. Went there to repair my NIU KQI 2 Pro. An electric kick scooter known for its hard disassembly. These people worked magic, fixed it within an hour. Kevin is highly recommended. Had to take a few of our bikes to get fixed and not only were they fixed remarkably.... They were done in record time. Only waited until the next day and the price was right!!!! The owners are extremely nice and very knowledgeable about bicycles and they never will try to take advantage of you like other bike shops do. I always leave there satisfied with the service I receive, which is why I am a repeat customer. They also have a nice inventory of bikes for sale that range in price. Kim's is a local institution! Having been around for 40+ years! At least that's how long Ms. Kim told me she's been working at the shop. Bless them for that longevity. Bestowing wheels on neighbors for decades. She knows her bikes and they give you full service. A huge selection of classic bikes for adults, kids and commuters (fold-up "transformer" bikes). Do not bring an electric bike here! They've messed up two of mine. (1) I needed a rear tire swapped out of one electric bike. Upon receiving it back, the pedal assist stopped working. No clue how they messed that up with a rear tire replacement. (2) I had a fat tire ebike that needed a new brake line. Within one week of receiving it back, the entire front assembly shakes every time I hit the front brakes. I brought it back and they refused service (the lady that worked there refused service) Other than that, any mechanical bike you bring them should be fine. But when it comes to doing basic work on an electric bike, not only will they spike the cost, but their so called "40 years of experience" seems like amateur work, and they'll screw up your bike. Beware with electric bikes and this shop. @david. Feel free to reach out if you're willing to fix the situation. Would be willing to modify review if the fat tire issue is resolved. read more

I recently moved to New Brunswick for work. I travelled to Asia ith my bike, came back to NJ, living in an airbnb, so i thought to do a quick ride. I realized that I dont have my valve opener to throw in some sealant (i had my own bottle) and pump some air in my tubeless ready tires. The lady started to find the tool and did made an effort, but wasnt successful. I told her that if i can leave the tires and collect them tomorrow (with my own sealant). She told me its would be $25 for each tire. I smiled and told her that these are already converted tires, all your mechanic has to do it throw in sealant and push air. She said no its going to be $25/tire!!! I politely declined and asked if theres another shop around for which she told me Highland has a bike shop called Local bike shop (they told me they will charge $20/tire and declined to allow me use their tool) I do most of my bike maintenance myself. But i support local bike shops but its no wonder more cyclists are going ONLINE to buy stuff as local bike shops are not helpful, charge hefty for menial jobs. I know bikes but do not know what happens to folks who do not know stuff. Sadly my experience at this local bike shop was not good one, i wish them well but charging $50 just to open a "converted tire" is simply not proper or helpful to cycling community PS: I was able to order the tool ($9) and a floor foot pump ($34) off Amazon and if will be delivered tomorrow, so I will miss my Sunday ride but Monday I will be riding read more

I love this shop. I needed new tires and tubes and they were so helpful w finding me the right options for city riding. No hassle, just super helpful and my bike was back in a couple days (they're super busy w everyone even during this covid-19 situation). That said even with the frenzy, they were helpful all the way from stepping in the store to pickup. Not to mention still took time to answer any questions I had. read more

Fast and friendly service!! Due to my procrastinating, I wasn't able to locate a shop around the Philly area after my neighborhood spot sold out of the Specialized bike I was looking to purchase during the cu COVID crisis. After referencing the manufacturer website I was able to track it down at Kim's and gave them a call first to ensure it was in stock. They promptly confirmed it was the case and made placing the order easy and secure via their website, and then followed up with an email immediately once it was assembled later that evening, stating it was available the next day. Pick up was easy, even with the shop being busy when I got there in the early afternoon. David greeted me right away, took me to the bike with the extra parts and manual ready to go in a separate bag, and offered me to take a test ride and let him know if I had any questions. No concerns, so after a quick check and spin I was ready to head home to Philly with my new bike!! Can't wait to get outside and hit the road and trails with it for some exercise during quarantine. Thanks!! Update on 6/1/20: I've just been informed of a recall from the manufacturer, Specialized, regarding a problem with the left crank coming off the bike. The timing was spot on as I recently experienced the problem while riding my bike. I've sent an email inquiry to the shop as well as to the manufacturer since I registered my bike on the Specialized site. Aside from the defect issue, which is unfortunate, the bike has been awesome, so now I'm hoping to hear something back soon as I'd like to be informed of the options that I'll have to resolve the issue most efficiently. Update 7/11/20: Received a response from Dave at Kim's who informed me that I should be able to take it to any authorized Specialized dealer for the replacement and re-work since I'm from outside the area, while also offering to bring it back into the shop at no additional cost. Unfortunately, due to an issue with supply at the moment, Specialized has still not responded to my inquiry with a solution on their end and Dave does not believe Specialized has replacement crank arms and crank bolts at the moment. Great place to purchase and maintenance your bike. I've been going to Kim's for years and recently had the pleasure of getting my Grandson's Costco bike maintenanced there, which in turn prompted this review. Before purchasing my first bike from Kim I brought a vintage Schwinn from a reputable collector of antique bikes that I tooled around town with for years. That old Schwinn was like me, old, elegant and resilient. I eventually got tired of repairing flats and decided to treat my self to a Hybrid with more rugged tires and a larger array of gear selection to lessen the need to get off and walk my bike (I'm 69 years old Damnit!). I purchased that bike at Kim's after dropping in and checking out their selection while having flats repaired over the years. They sold it to me at a nice discount because it was an older model with a paint scuff and no kickstand (which they added at no cost). I now get yearly maintenance here with good result and they don't try to oversell ya. When they serviced Grandson's bike they called me and SUGGESTED I replace items to extend the life of the bike with sound logic and had the bike ready for pickup in one day, that shows great customer appreciation chops. If I spot another bargain I won't hesitate to purchase it in the future just to have something different to ride on. Poor service...! purchased a used bike (4 figure dollar amount not a cheap one ) okay it's used I get that they said they'd go over the whole thing and make it ready for me I get it home doesn't stay in gear had to bring it back, they fixed it get it home again no air in the shocks front tire went flat had a big hole in it traction control twinlock didn't work at all..! should have went over the bike when I picked it up but I trusted him I've been going there since the store opened when I was a kid they said they'd go over the whole thing they did nothing I called him and never called me back take it for what it's worth read more

Called them for some hydraulic brake fittings that I couldn't even find online and sure enough, they knew what I was looking for and put a few in a bag for me while we were on the phone. I have to agree with Yoon J. and say they do have a limited brand selection, but the brands they do have are good ones. They're an official Specialized and Litespeed dealer (among others I can't recall), so if you're looking for either brands this is the place to go. The store itself is a little cluttered and in some places pretty cramped for space, but if they have the product the staff will know exactly where it is. Parking isn't the greatest either. There's only a few street parkings on 27 in front of the shop, but most likely you'll have to park around the block on residential streets. Annoying, but not really a big problem. Despite all that, I have yet to be disappointed when going to Kim's for tune-ups or purchases. The staff and family that owns the store recognized me after just my first visit and are always friendly, informative and eager to help. If what you want isn't currently in stock they'll order it and give you 3.5% sales tax. Overall, a great place for all your biking needs. read more

Stopped by to replace my popped tire and was in and out in less than 10 minutes. The service was great and super helpful. Price ($12 I think) was worth the ease and convenience.
