Nice Gym, new equipment, nice people. I am happy with my membership here. And they have free WIFI. One thing I would like to see is some standard Barbell Bench Press stations. They only have three (3) Smith Machines and they are always taken. You can wait in line for 30 - 45 min sometimes waiting for a machine. It is a true bottleneck. When I asked why they did not have Bench Stations they said it was a safty issue, however I can tell you from over 20 years of working out in the gym. not everyone knows to set the stops on the smith machine. At least with a standard bench you can dump the weight if you get in trouble. If they do not want bench stations they could at least give us a standard Squat Rack. that would also help the bottle neck. read more

One of the better PF I've been to in Harford County. The facility is maintained with almost no faulty equipment or things out of service. It doesn't smell foul. Staff are seen cleaning and restocking frequently. The tanning beds are fully functional with music, air flow, and lights that are all working and not burnt out. racist managers. Women whine every time any man says "hello". That's when the shitty managers threaten to throw you out. Water fountain never works. People monopolize equipment they are not using. The locker room has black mold. Showers have never been cleaned. Employees are mostly useless, and some are hostile when asked questions. Since management has high turnover, it is understandable. They have canceled members without explanation. Lots of broken/dirty/ rusted equipment. One member threatened me with death for complaining about them monopolizing equipment they were not using. Great, inexpensive gym that gets the job done. Who needs to pay outrageous prices for a gym membership when all gyms have equipment to help you reach your goals? Lol, but I digress. I love this PF. Staff always friendly. You constantly see them walking around and sanitizing the machines. The customers also seem to do a great job of wiping the equipment down after they use it. For black card members they have a tanning bed and a spa with massage beds, which I have yet to use but I'm sure they're awesome (the massage beds. I don't think I need to use a tanning bed haha). Women's bathroom is clean with lots of lockers and a few showers. Overall a good gym! read more

PF Management Staff, I Have been a member of the Abingdon planet fitness for the last 8 years. During the pandemic/covid19 crisis's which by the way is still going on. The center was being cleaned continuously (day and night). Now, the cleaning seems to have stopped. I usually come to the gym to work out early am in the morning. Once I open the door the carpet has grass and other droppings from shoes left behind (not vacuumed). It carries over to the fitness equipment. Spray bottles are often empty, supporting straps, and attachments used on the cable machines are all over the floor, not picked up or placed in the proper location. I "DO NOT" see anyone organizing or cleaning from the time I arrive or as I am leaving. What happened to the commitment to uphold the cleanliness of the gym? Why aren't the employees cleaning/sweeping instead of staying behind the desk? Do you realize covid is still with us? Please do something or I may have to find a new home gym. Well I have been a member for many years and have been to multiple of location. However don't bother on coming with someone to work out here. They will refuse to let you. Me and my girlfriend had came in started our workout when Jason(guy cleaning equipment) said that it was not aloud to work out together or even be and the same station because of "the covid" but while working out he lets 12 people walk past him with out masks on in less then a 5 minute period. Rumor has it that the Abingdon Planet Fitness will no longer be a 24/7 gym apparently they are having staffing issue. Hmm!!! I wonder why, maybe because there new GM and management of this location are horrible. They're rude to guests and the gym is not as clean as it use to be, when it was ran by better manage over a year ago. Terrible service. Drove half an hour to tan and they said I had to purchase their eyewear which is $5.30. I asked if they had Apple Pay and they said yes. I had my reservations about planet fitness.. heard mixed reviews but I have to say if you get what you pay for is true.. PF IS A REAL BARGAIN.. all the cardio and weight equipment I need PLUS massage chairs, hydro massage beds, tanning, and a total body enhancer machine all for a low monthly.. staff is courteous and the place is always clean and professional. Have been here since they opened about 10 years ago. This gym went down hill fast. Over crowded, dirty weights and old equipment. The layout is horrible with a leg press right smack in the middle of the floor. People trip all over this place because of the layout. Horrible and after many complaints from members they do nothing to correct the problem. They have updated the bathrooms but haven't added new weight machines or weights in many years. Not sure how the Franchise can allow this place to have such a bad layout and nasty machines. Go somewhere else and save your money. read more

The place is nice and clean from the gym floor to the locker rooms. The front desk attendants are friendly and don't hold you up from getting to your workout. There are plenty of machines for cardio (treadmills, ellipticals, arc trainers and stationary bikes) and weight training. There is also a lot of space for stretching and floor exercises. There are about fifteen or so televisions that are connected to the cardio equipment so you can watch and listen while you work out. For $10 a month, your membership includes unlimited access to the club and it's open 24/7 from Monday starting at 5 am to Friday at 9 pm. On Saturday and Sunday, it is open from 7 am to 7 pm. For $20 a month, your membership includes unlimited access to ALL Planet Fitness clubs as well as access to the tanning beds and massage chairs. Either membership is a great price and much cheaper compared to other gyms in the area. Planet Fitness is a "judge free" zone which means they don't judge you on your looks. Basically, they are welcoming people of all shapes and sizes into their gyms. Unless you are a meathead, which they refer to as "lunks" and if you slam the weights down, a "lunk alarm" will sound. If you set this off, you are supposed to get kicked out, but I have yet to see this happen. I have seen it happen on Youtube though and it would be interesting to see it happen in person. read more

My wife and I are members at the forest hill location and we moved closer to this one and what a difference. So much for the lunk free environment. I'm trying to work out and apparently the group of guys who were clearly on a cycle need all of the machines for there supper cool tricep work out. And they needed more room for all there moaning and grunting also. If we want to go to the gym we have to sign in and fill out a sheet as a visiting member every time now as well or go through the process of going on line and refilling out apps and get a new member number. And the guy behind the counter had very crappy attitude about me asking questions about that policy, so sorry to ask you a question and interrupt your conversation with your work partner. I was visiting friends in town and decided to check out their local planet fitness. I've recently gone to PF in 4 California locations and 3 PA locations and they have all been similar and nice clean, new equipment, well ventilated. This gym was so stuffy. Which is ok, we're all working out and its hot and kinda gross. But I went to the women's locker room and it reeked of poop. Horrible, strong poop. It was really terrible, the smell of poop sitting in toilets for a very long time. There was also no toilet paper. So this smell is just permeating the entire locker room. Alright, gross. I shook it off and went into the machine area (treadmills). As I'm working out I keep getting whiffs of poop. And I'm jogging, breathing in deep... smelling poop. It was so painful and disgusting. I gag just thinking about it. It was a shitty experience, but the machines are fine. I hope this location does something about their staff staying on top of the lockers rooms and toilets. I have been a PF Black Card member for 5 months. My home gym is in Willow Springs PA. I was doing some shopping in Abingdon and thought I would check out the gym. Upon arrival there were two staff behind the desk and after check in I asked for tanning beds. The fella checked me in and said I was good to go. I mentioned I have no idea where I was going and he pointed the way. After going into room 5 I was immediately disgusted. The table in that room was NASTY. There was dirt, sock fuzzies, hair EVERYWHERE. The trash was overflowing and the bed itself had fingerprints, dust, and hair on the bulbs (under the part where you lay). I cleaned the table because, ew. Than cleaned the bed, top and bottom. Than there was this fan that was immediately above me! Why?! So the question is, why didn't I tell the staff? Because they were everywhere cleaning everything else! Surely they were going to get to it. I don't know if it is just a busy location or what. There was really neat lockers! Didn't have to have a lock. Just don't forget your locker number OR lock code. All in all, pretty typical layout. Just get those beds cleaned! read more

I joined last November. I use the equipment, but not any of the tanning beds or extra stuff. So I can't comment on that. The location is convenient and when I am able to make it at my normal gym time which is about 3:00 PM there is not a crazy crowd. They have all the equipment that I use. Even when I go later in the day when there's more of a crowd I still don't have too much of an issue getting a chance to use the equipment that I need. The fitting rooms are ok. It seems they try to keep it clean, but unfortunately some people just don't pick up after themselves. Because of that the two private changing rooms aren't always as clean as they should be. I do like that they keep flowers in the fitting room and tootsie rolls at the front desk because I look forward to those tootsie rolls. Those tootsie rolls are my treat before a good workout. Overall the price is right and I am glad I joined. I have never had any issues with the staff and they keep checkin quick so you can keep it moving. read more

My husband and I joined because our old gym was top much of a drive for us, 30 minds each way. Given our lack of motivation, we may make it to this gym 2 times a week at most. Also we were not taking advantage of the pool/classes that were included with our pricey membership fee. So we decided to cancel our membership and join planet fitness. I joined online when they had their 10 bucks down 10 bucks a month offer. When we arrived we were some what welcomed and were given a key card. Online they said we also got a free shirt but we had to remind them of this. Then we were left to our own devices though I thought they should have at least pointed us to the locker room. Locker rooms are clean and functional. Decent amount of equipment. I was a bit overwhelmed by the sounds and the crowds. It's a more intense gym than my old one. I am reviewing based on the quality of the gym and the services received/available. This is not a full gym with a pool and yoga classes etc but it is awesome if you want to get a great no-frills workout.They are extremely helpful and the trainers they have available are knowledge and skiled. They have everything you need to get back in shape and reach yur fitness goals. And really what more do you need? I had to move away from the area for work and needed to cancel my membership. Honestly I had heard such horrible stuff about how it was difficult it was to cancel PF memberships and the run-around they give you. I was hunkering down for a fight when I went to cancel and lo & behold it was amazingly easy!They were extremely kind, courteous, and speedy about getting my paperwork done. I just checked to see if my membership had truly been cancelled (aka are they still charging me?) and yup! my membership was cancelled as requested. Just a testament to this location's ease and efficiency. I may not be able to come back to this PF but if I move to an area that has a PF close by you can be sure I'll be joining. read more

I didn't like it here. I'm traveling for sales and just needed a place to run bc it was raining. First they charged me $20 for a day (not their fault) but then they were not polite to me at all. EVERYTIME I asked for help they tried to sell me something. I asked of they could hold my purse so I didn't have to set it on the floor and they said I had to buy a lock for the lockers. Then halfway onto my run I asked if they had towels bc I was sweating so much and instead of telling me they had paper towels they tried to sell me a purple fancy towel. This place is a franchise not a gym. There is no courtesy or service at all. Perhaps it was bc I was not a member. Anyway if u want to exercise just one time this place is a bad decision. A member resorted to name calling because I used a piece of equipment while he was speaking to someone else (not even standing near the equipment). I've been a member here for over a year now and really love it. I've just realized for all my yelping I need to branch out to more then just restaurants. I'm here most week day nights and weekend afternoons. Monday's are the busiest evening by far. They got new machines over the Summer and the maintenance in general is pretty good. For the most part the staff is very friendly and very helpful. Unfortunately, the only method of payment they arrange is to direct debit your checking account every month. And they want a voided check to set it up. There's no gyms near that have a daycare, unless your paying $80 a month to go there, i dont get to go barely cuz i have no one to watch my child. it also seems like there's a handful of machines always broken, which isn't a big deal if you go by yourself but its hard to find machines next to each other when everyone's there. The ABINGDON Planet Fitness is such a nice place to work out and relax in the Massage chair (never fails to relieve the headache's and back pain I frequently have) . I enjoy the tanning bed & hydro bed. The staff at this location are extremely helpful and go to great lengths to help whenever I ask. The Gym is kept very clean and the machines are always in good working order. The employees always engage members with a smile and greeting as we arrive. I would avoid Monday nights though - usually a wait for treadmills and Smith Machines, but otherwise you can generally get in and out without a hassle. I have been paying my membership fees and yearly dues for 4 years (not their fault). Went in after not being there for 2 years due to health reasons with an EMT and they wanted to charge me $20. After a NASTY argument with a very young General Manager who said I was unable to talk to someone above her, I then called corporate who then sent an email to owners, managers, etc. and NEVER even got a call back.
