They finally did it! I've gone here for several years, but was never fully satisfied because there were no free weights for bench or back squats. But as of this month, they've finally added in the free weight racks and Olympic lifting platforms. Now I'm able to do all my favorite exercises in one spot. Also I love that they added more focused stretching areas after the remodel. Lastly, I wanna shout out the teen workout summer program for creating a third space for local teens. had nothing but issues with tanning bed this morning. I only was only allowed to lay in bed for 2 min because of front desk incompetence especially with Kahlia who was beyond rude as usual. I asked to speak with management and they said she was coming to speak with me. That was a lie because Kahlia called police on me which was completely unnecessary and unacceptabl. I've only been a handful of times, so far. Place is pretty clean and there are cleaning spray bottles and paper towels to wipe equipment down after use. Cootie free zone. High ceilings make for non-stuffy breathable air (if you know what I mean). Haha. And lots of equipment to work just about any muscle. They have upstairs cardio equipment, if you get intimidated by being around all the weighted stuff. Or if you're trying to hide. Hehe Black card members get some pretty cool perks. Go ask the staff - they shared what the infrared machine does. Ooooo sounds fun! Now, get up and move! Lessssgooooo! When a business stops fixing the basics, and they acknowledge the problems, it's a sign they don't want to invest another nickel. One remaining hand sanitizer station upstairs. Grout around men's toilet is disgusting. QR code readers barely work without staff intervention, which they keep saying "yeah, we need new computers." I wish I could make this stuff up, but I can't. This is really crazy. I come into the gym that I have to pay an additional month for and they don't say anything to me when I walk in but when I get up to the area that I'm working out at they come and talk to me. They say that management put a note in there for me to come downstairs and talk to them and I said I have nothing to talk to you about my membership is over the end of May and I won't come back. So they called the police. I absolutely think that planet fitness is the worst place in the entire world. Three police officers from Atlantic Beach had to come and walk me out of planet fitness and trespass me because they lied to me and I called them out on it on social media. I never did anything at the gym that would make them call the police ever but they did. I'm definitely going to send this to the CEO of planet fitness and I'm not playing. I'm so done. I will also say that these officers were very professional and actually were on my side. Planet fitness will not let you out at another gym even though you have unlimited other gyms more than 10 days. I had issues with the staff before but Alexis the so called manager should find another job, she has zero costumer service knowledge. Always pleasant enough folks at check in. However they have not been properly trained . My son was gone for the summer so we asked 6.11 for a freeze on his membership. Not only was I charged for June on the 18th but also July, August, Sept . I went to gym to ask why my frozen account was getting charged. The front desk had the manager Jay come out who was extremely rude from the beginning , he had the attitude he wasn't going to do anything before he even heard the situation. He told me that it was only a month freeze and I signed that on the waiver. I was NEVER informed there was a one month freeze nor did I sign the waiver . I asked to see the signature and it was a single line scratch, not my signature at all. I imagine the person that froze my account didn't know what they were doing and realized that I had to sign and forged my signature . The manager Jay was beyond rude , never once apologized or took any ownership. They froze my account , yet charged me that month, make sense out of that one. So dishonest. It's less about the money which I didn't notice the small amount until 3 months but about the lack of integrity they displayed. I asked to speak to regional manager Letty , and Jay said No way will you contact them. Took my name and number and to no surprise I haven't heard from them. Better business bureau has this location and every location that Taymax owns and operates in Jax as a D- and 1 star. Forging a signature is a third degree felony. Not responding to a customer and extremely poor managers is common here, the turnover is ridiculous . But not to hear back from regional management is evidence how poor this company is run and how dishonest they are . read more

For many years this gym was great. Uncrowded. Quiet, as mentioned in some of the earlier reviews from past years. The equipment is still good and the place is clean. It is, however, no longer quiet. For the past few months the music has become unbearably loud, and crappy as well. It even bleeds through personal headphones, which I would rather not have to wear at all. I have asked to have the music turned down, but the arrogant new manager told me it was "too quiet before and that this new setting is what works for all people." Guess what. This is a new Planet Fitness. The staff are always friendly. During nighttime, they may be a bit sleepier but I've never had a problem. For cardio I do threads, stair-stepper, rowing machine, and bike. There's also a good variety of weight machines. I feel like I can get a good workout in. Afterwards, since I'm a black card member I always get a 10 minute lounge massage in. I've tried the red light theraphy but I haven't gone enough times to see or feel a difference. read more

I work out regularly in the mornings (between 4am-7am) and there is hardly someone at the front desk. I have been going here for almost 3 years and this Planet Fitness location has recently been going downhill fast. The TV selection is terrible with several TVs not working or have no sound. The VERY LOUD music is obnoxious - head banging, heavy metal music lead me to complain to the staff but to no avail. The women's bathroom is typically so dirty that my wife and her friend will not even use the facilities. Additionally, machines are often out of order for weeks and are set-up poorly. Pretty awful customer service today from this Atlantic Beach site. My fiancé didn't want to fist bump a new employee (hello, COVID), so the employee continued to harass and stare at him and coming over to his equipment station while he worked out. When my fiancé reported it, they called him later and said they are canceling his membership. They claimed they are the Regional Director, but would not give their name or contact information. Pretty ugly and certainly incredible. Obviously, I am also canceling my membership and encourage others to do the same. read more

So damn I like coming here because it's quiet at night., and somewhat clean so I thought. I only see one guy cleaning period.... Yea just one and it's the same guy all the time not any of the other ones.... Another thing I have noticed there are signs up for daily use lockers right well I know for a fact there is a dude that thinks he owns a locker and leaves his stinky shitty smelling clothes in the locker and locks it with a lock he purchased from PF I guess no one really supervises this location no wonder its going to shit they even closed the upstairs because of "leaks" I have more to say just trying to remember everything the smell from that dudes clothes in that locker almost had me pass out! read more

I have been a member since they opened in Atlantic Beach. I moved to Mexico 2 years ago but kept my membership for a year after knowing I would be back and forth visiting my parents. My last visit in May I asked to cancel my membership due to my lack of frequency at gym. I was told by an associate that he was canceling my membership and was charging me a one time fee for the week. Recently received a bill for past two months with another charge pending July 1st. I called the Atlantic Beach location to make sure it was canceled and why I was being charged. As I was speaking to the young man the manager Jay Guzman said that he remembered me and that I was a liar. At that point I was livid. I had never ever spoken to this man and didn't appreciate the slur. He repeatedly said it wasn't him and I asked if not you then who? His final response was you signed contract and nothing he could do. I guess since they are all independently owned you get a stock message from corporate that you have to deal with the local club, it's not their problem. All good, I canceled card but a fair warning to anyone that is a member or thinking about joining club make sure you have any changes written down and signed. I thought this was a place for growing your health and training your body to be stronger, NOT to slowly kill your immune system and pass out every time they yell at you across the room to "put on a face diaper." Very disturbing and sad. Being talked down on by the employers will happen to you here and you will be told what to do even if you physically cannot do something they are asking because you are disabled. I would give it more stars if they didn't sneak in a $49 fee that was never disclosed when taking advantage of the "$1 down, $10 per month" deal....but now that I'm past that, please tell staff to make sure people are following the rules! Hardly anyone wipes down the equipment GROSS!, customers talk loudly on their cell phones when that is prohibited (except in the lobby) and they also use the "30 min circuit" machines but don't follow the circuit. Then when I go in to use that room, they look at me like I"m bothering them because they are in there just using one machine. Then they finally walk out. Without wiping down the machine of course. Well here we are again Pathetic fitness making me feel so dirty especially when I have been here pretty consistently and see the same employees with no kind of supervision going on. The past few days this gym has looked so disgusting! What is all the employees doing? Especially the night shift well like between 5pm and Midnight is when I frequent this gym and all I see is the same lack of anything. Example: you have 2-3 employees working during night shift no one is cleaning except one lonely guy thats it. ( I get it members should be cleaning after themselves them disgusting mfers that don't i wish hell on them not really but i do!) anyways no one comes cleans machines no one comes cleans locker rooms i am for sure bound to get an STD in the biotch! I go to EVERY Planet fitness around Jacksonville Florida and never had such a experience!!!! I parked in front of the building so we wouldn't have to walk very far. Instead of just walking right inside me and my wife started to talk about a good topic so we ended up staying in the car and having a longer conversation than we thought. My car happen to be messed up in the front due to a car accident a week ago and I kept my car running while we were having this conversation, so next thing I know BOOM!!! We were surrounded by Police knocking on our car doors and started harassing us asking to search the car for drugs and etc. Luckily I know my law and knew they got called for a car sitting in a Planet Fitness parking lot nothing more nothing less. I simply opened my car door showed them my VIP Planet Fitness BLACK CARD and told them I can be in this spot I pay every month.
