Even over Zoom, Sasha is prompt, prepared, keeps count/time of my sets and most importantly, keeps me honest. I work up a sweat every workout and I'm typically sore a day later because Sasha continues upping the ante. Even while remote, Sasha is able to monitor my form and suggest adjustments. Her workouts are customized based on the person and ability - when I first started with her I was struggling walking. My workout, like before, consists of plyometric stretching (even this is hard!), abs, and then the real workout focused on either upper body, lower body, or total body. Sasha accommodates my many old sports injuries - including 2 ACL replacements. She always starts my workout asking how I'm feeling. And, depending on my latest aches/pains, our stretching is refocused. The biggest benefit of my workouts with Sasha (besides enhanced mobility, strength and fitness) is mental fitness and clarity - especially during these crazy times.

What once was an amazing, inspiring atmosphere whose leadership truly wanted to see people improve themselves jas become just another average run of the mill fitness establishment that's no better than the other fitness chains. It's no longer the advertised family friendly environment it once was. They work hard to maintain the facade of a great gym that is better than the rest when in reality they fall short in comparison. This gym has really become run down due to lack of maintenance. The bullet hole in the front window that's been there for a year or more is one example. The broken mirror in the multipurpose room is another. It's been broken for years at this point. They have pictures of pro athletes hung on the wall for all to see, many who used to support this gym. The multitude of pro athletes that once supported this gym has dwindled to just a few over the last year and now you don't see them in this gym much at all. The music is often inappropriate and vulgar and is played at levels that make it difficult to hear anyone you might be talking to (trainer, friend, staff, etc) during the weekdays, especially in the afternoons. The volume tends to be ok in the mornings and weekends though and i think that is because its different staff running the gym at those times. Should you bring the music volume up to gym ownership the response you get is inappropriate, acusatory, and unprofessional. On occasion, the facility smells of sewage when you walk in the door. It's been occurring for years but remains an issue to this day Equipment is often in need of maintenance that seems to take longer than other gyms to address (inoperable cardio equipment, torn up pleather seating or pulleys on weight machines, etc). The equipment is older and perhaps this is to be expected for an establishment with older equipment, I don't know. It does get fixed eventually though. The 3 knee pads available are compressed to the point of being ineffective and the 2 mats they have are torn and ripped. They have needed replacement for well over 6 months at this point.

But today this blonde girl who was working the front desk would not let me do a day pass. I got there at 7:00 she argued that I couldn't stay there after eight. This never was an issue before and I also go to other Powerhouse gyms like the Las Vegas one and never had an issue. So disappointed that I won't be able to workout here when I'm on the road. Thankfully I was able to go to armbrust pro gym and had no issue there. I hope they revise their travel policy.

I am trying to take the necessary precautions. Summer told me that she would not reschedule! I mean as a business and especially a health trainer I would be concerned that she is willing to put herself in harms way and become a super spreader with her type of employment. Sadly she is not taking this seriously and it's people like that, that we are still fighting this mess because they are not taking the precautions. I've had family pass away from Covid so to me this is serious.

The park is closed off for safety reasons but we take a picnic and camp out on the lawn at the neighboring Staybridge Suites to watch the action up close. It's a super fun way to kick off your Fourth of July festivities (for whatever reason, Glendale's fireworks always happen a day or two before July 4th). Earlier this week it was announced that the highly anticipated Glendale Riverwalk Project will be put on hold http://www.bizjournals.com/denver/blog/real_deals/2015/04/175-million-development-planned-for-glendale.html?surround=etf&ana=e_article. Instead, a new retail and entertainment district called Glendale 180 will be developed on a 22 acre parcel between Colorado Boulevard and Cherry Street, and Virginia Avenue and Cherry Creek. The city plans to break ground in the Fall of 2015 and officials hope to open for business in 2017. And this will mean that Creekside Park is going away. I'm torn. It's truly a shame to lose a nice, big park. But Glendale and its neighbors will be gaining job opportunities and new fun recreational activities. As it stands now, the design is thoughtfully planned with lots of open space, year-round landscaping, and meandering pathways that will create an inviting community gathering place. No office or residential space will be included in the new development, just shops, restaurants, and a cinema. And lots of parking. And relaxed open container laws! Apparently, Glendale used to be quite the hot spot back in the day so it's planning to get back to its partytime roots. Glendale 180 - see what they did there?
