Planet Fitness - Gyms Near Me - Brighton, Michigan

I travel all over the country for work. That is why I have a black card membership. I pay extra to use other locations. I was appalled when I was told I could only use this facility for 10 days. Then I would have to pay daily. This gym is well below any PF I have visited in the last 5 years. If you spent less money on sign in sheets for everything you would not have to double charge for the gym. You might also be able to repair all the broken benches and equipment. Thankfully there are 2 other facilities nearby. This one is a joke. read more

If you are a day late on paying your membership and can only afford the basic service . they charge you double your membership fees . living paycheck to paycheck you can't always get your money in your account when they expect it and you get screwed . This is absolute insanity! I have been a paying customer at Planet Fitness for 8 years at least! I have brought new members in, I stuck around when I had to wear a mask, I wipe my stuff off, I wear clothes that cover and I am very friendly. Apparently my account got suspended and now cancelled because I don't always show my eye wear when I tan(even though I go get it out of my bag when they ask), I get a water bottle out of the cooler and the guy that works there says, you are all good, I will put it on your account, I hug employees that are my friends, and that I go in areas that I am not allowed, even though it would be for a minute to ask my friends something. This all got me cancelled! No warning...no nothing. The manager that was previously there was super nice and I never had a problem. All of a sudden a different manager comes in and this happens. She has been out to get me the whole time. Probably because people like me. I have been had creepy guys say nasty things to me, seen people not wipe their stuff down, seen employees fall asleep while working...and some how I am the problem. read more

My daughter and her friend have been here many times. My daughter uses her friends "guest pass" on her black card. Never ever has been an issue until today. Alli at the front desk refused to let them in even with the pass. Told my daughter she needs me to come in to sign her up for a free summer pass for teens. Fine. I drive all the way there to have Alli tell me that I just have to go on my phone and sign her up. So I go to the website she told me, it says "personal information" ie name/address, etc. Is it my name? My daughters name? No one to ask cuz Alli walked away even though no other members were at the desk. When she finally came back she said the first part is my daughters info, second page is mine. Couldn't have told me that before you walked away? So I filled it out, signed electronically, then Alli went on break and another guy took over. He asked where my daughters phone was and why I was signing her up using mine. I said because Alli told me to. So now he needs my daughters phone. All signed up and good but there was absolutely no reason to make me drive up there. Everything was on website. Alli is rude, unhelpful and if I owned this franchise I would NEVER have her at the front desk as the first person people encounter. read more

After breaking both of my legs in an accident, I called PF Brighton, MI to cancel or suspend my membership. They said I had to cancel in person, but since I was bedridden, they would make an exception. I checked the app and it appeared I had been cancelled. 16 months later I discover they never cancelled me and have been charging me $22/mo all this time. The Manager will not return my calls even though I have been extremely kind and patient. The desk guy said the Manager will not refund me! I showed them pics of me in the ambulance/hospital etc. They do not care. Taking $350 from an incapacitated person. SHAMEFUL!! Replying to PF: Yes I went in to the gym to officially CANCEL and asked for the Manager. The Manager did not come to the desk. Later he had the desk guy call to tell me they will not refund any money to me. I asked to speak to Manager yet again. He never called me and I expect he never will. I was sweet, respectful and patient with the guys at the desk, so I don't understand why the Manager is avoiding me. read more

Cleanliness is a low priority at the Brighton, MI location. I had been a PF member since 2011 with a Black Card for about half that time. I've visited more than 6 locations between Detroit and Lansing. While the work-out area in Brighton is well-equipped and spacious, the rest rooms / showers are uniquely filthy. I've seen the same filth in a single shower stall for weeks at a time. At a Troy, MI PF, I was told they clean their showers twice every day, but at the Brighton location, they apparently will go weeks without a good cleaning. It's also the land of the Karens. I'm done with them. Good bye. read more

Always busy. No room to do free weight exercises or Pilate movements. Music is also way too loud, I could still hear their obnoxious EDM playing while my headphones were turned all the way up. A great place if you're trying to go deaf or induce yourself into a social anxiety attack! read more

It's fine. It's a gym. It serves it's purpose. It's the best gym in this town as the other places are mostly "here's a place with some equipment and no bathrooms". It really sucks that none of the gyms have indoor pools, I'd gladly pay good money for a proper gym / rec center. We really could use a Lifetime Athletic-style gym here, but we probably don't have a large enough population in the Brighton-Hartland-Howell-South Lyon area to warrant an investor looking into it. Cancelling my membership because of the COVID rules and the enforcement. I just can't be asked to wear a mask drenched in sweat over my nose and mouth at all times while doing cardio. No hard feelings, you're just trying not to get the business fined / shut down by Governor Karen. read more

My daughters first time at the gym went terribly... She came to me crying because of the way the worker treated her. I am absolutely furious. She went in, and she had already paid for the membership and since she is under 18 I had to sign for her, which I did. The worker named Timothy (dark hair, and in his 20s) told her she was not aloud to go in because she had a guest membership and not one that she paid for, my daughter and her friend both showed him proof they they were registered and paid for a membership . They even got a voicemail from Mike, the club manager, saying all they had to do is sign once they came in. Not only was Timothy not letting them into the gym when they very clearly had a membership, he was being rude to a 17 year old girl. Planet fitness is marketed as a friendly place where anyone can work out and they did not prove that today. After all of this he told them to leave. I am in complete shock with the way my daughter was treated. Workers should absolutely not treat their PAYING customers like that. read more

Best bargain on the Planet! Ive worked in premier health clubs with all the amenities, so believe me when I say, Planet Fitness is a great deal, a clean, well-managed club for those of you/us who simply want to work out, lift weights. No frills, just plenty of equipment, clean spacious locker rooms, and no egos or worries about what to wear or how you look. $10 a month for all of this is a steal! $20 for guest privileges and tanning! This Planet fitness is nice. Newly Renovated. It has a lot of new machines and new rooms with new equipment. It's much more spacious.. One thing that disappointed me was that the total body enhancement is broken and it needs to be fixed. read more

Love it here!! Staff is always friendly and its always clean. I love that there is always an available machine except for once in a while the leg press. The place it well lit. Wow!! Ok so the gym itself is fine. You get what you pay for right? For me the madness comes in when trying to cancel my membership. Contacted Planet Fitness FB page since it's hard to find contact info on their website. Asked how do I cancel my membership? The Social Media rep responded, just send in a letter stating you want to cancel. Really? You can't email or call or use technology? Nope, just end the letter via snail mail. Fine, done. Then, I get a call from the not-so-nice manager, Rebecca, at Brighton saying I was told the wrong info, I needed to send a $58 check with my letter. Nope, that's not what I was told and I can show you. At first, she accuses me of lying and tells me I have contacted a "fake" FB page. After a few heated words, because what customer likes to be accused of lying, I figure out Brighton has an FB page and I contacted the corporate PF page. My whole point here was I was given the wrong info. Why can't you help me out? She told me I could call corporate, but they would just put the complaint back to her (which she couldn't wait to tell me again that I HAD to send in the check). Why couldn't they say hey, sorry we did tell you the wrong info, I'll waive the fee this time since it was our mistake? Nope. So she told me she would hang onto my letter until my 1 yr was up in a few months. Fast forward to 6 mos months later and I 'm still being charged. So call them up, again gotta speak with the not-so-pleasant Rebecca, explain thought she was hanging on to my letter to cancel when my 1 yr was up as discussed and she says she never said that. She just said she was hanging onto the letter for their records, she NEVER would do an automatic cancel. I didn't think it was automatic cancel, just thought you had an ounce of sympathy for the error of me being told "You only have to send a letter to cancel" and you were trying to make up for Planet Fitness' error. Nope. I'm almost in tears at this point she's being so rude to me. She keeps saying "I'm sorry, but you're wrong," I asked if there's anyone else I could talk to, as this is the 2nd time I've been given misinformation on how to cancel my membership. She all but laughed in my face saying I could call corporate, but I was going to be back on the phone with her and there was NO WAY she was going to even going to help me out a tiny bit. Now, she's saying the letter she has from me from September is void and I have to send in a new letter? That seems illegal to me and I'm exploring my legal options on this "new letter" Rebecca's telling me I gotta now send. Twice I was told incorrect information by people that work for Planet Fitness. Zero sympathy was given. Seven months of money being withdrawn late, still am stuck with my membership. Huh? Seriously, I would WAY rather have gone to Anytime, LifeTime or any other gyms in the area if I knew this was how bad the customer service was going to be. The only reason I passed up the gym right down the street from me to go to this one in Brighton was the $10 membership, $10 a month, no commitment, no contract membership. You seriously can't beat that. There were a few bumps when I first joined...charged double (they fixed it), they were and are still out of the free t-shirt that is suppose to come with membership, they were out of the key fabs that has your hand written membership number...but all of that can me attributed to a brand new business. The place is nice, clean, awesome machines, staff is nice and helpful, CLEAN! It is your basic gym, with more machines than free weights....low on the frills, but the best bang for your buck...and CLEAN! read more

Its not a bad gym. The people are what get me. The staff doesn't do much. Most of the time they are standing around the front desk talking. When I worked at a gym if there was more than one person behind the counter our boss would find something for us to do, usually clean. I've been a member for a year now and I've never seen them cleaning or watching the circuit areas(except mopping the womens locker room, which takes less than 5 minutes). They don't even clean the tanning areas anymore, they send a bottle of cleaner back with you. The circuit areas are the worst. They're for circuit training and people camp out on the machines and/or stand in front of the machines and just socialize. There has not been one time I've went that there wasn't someone doing 3 or 4 sets on a machine that is meant for circuit training. There's a sign saying its monitored by staff but it never is. I've always had to go up to the desk and complain. No matter what day or what time of day I go, I've had this problem. I guess you get what you pay for...... read more

Rejoined Planet Fitness in Brighton a second time after issues with customer service. Ran into owner of this PF and complimented him on expansion of facility and congratulated him. He seemed very unappreciative of my business and compliments. I also asked a few questions about business because I was just trying to strike up a friendly conversation but the owner was very elusive and again not very customer friendly. This isn't the kind of business acumen one would expect from a small business owner. After all without customers he has no business. Now we know how the establishment really feels about its customers. In my business I tell my customers all the time how much I appreciate their business. Love Planet Fitness Brighton. We have new equipment, fans, new massage chairs, and hydro-beds. I can get in and out in 40 minutes 3 days a week and feel great about my workout. I love yoga classes, but the convenience of being able to go to PF any time I want ; having it centrally located; and always having a machine available - can't be beat. I also like that I can tune in to tv, music, or take my earbuds out and say hi to the friendly staff. The most attractive thing is stopping in while kids are in activities - very low stress trying to fit my workout in. I follow every workout with a massage. read more

I really enjoy Planet Fitness. The client base seems to be "real" people who are there to stay in shape, or drop extra pounds. I've been to other places that made me feel too self conscious to want to return to. Not here! I can't wait to get to the gym after work ! The other extra things they have to offer are pretty sweet too ! The tanning booths, red light therapy booth, the massage chairs & tables. The place is immaculately clean ( I'm phobic about this!), and the staff at night they are the nicest guys anyone could hope to meet. read more

I love the gym and staff BUT they are way too slow to fix malfunctioning machines. I have seen treadmills with audio problems go over 1 1/2 years without repair. Currently numerous cycles and treadmills are down week, after week, after week, after week. Several televisions have the wrong screen fit settings! Call the cable company to adjust and call the equipment mechanics please. read more
