I've been going to this location for a while and I really like it. I've been to several PF in Atlanta and in other cities. Thus is the only one I've been too with the stretch cage. They have new cushy mats that wipe down well. They use PreCor machines a s they all work! There are 2 huge industrial fans in the ceiling that give a great breeze when on the cardio machines. It's kept very clean. The staff is usually young but they are nice and do their job. My only con is in all the other sections there's no fans, so it gets warm. You can really work up a sweat. read more

The front desk person, Josie, that we just met for the first time today has been the most pleasant worker to date. She greeted us with a smile and was just nice....I admire that in people who are working with the public. I give her 5 stars out of 5!!!! read more

One side of the gym is so uncomfortably hot when working out. The machines are always broken or missing pieces. Where does our monthly and yearly fees go towards because it's not this gym. Need some​ much needed maintenance and repair asap. Will be looking for a new gym soon read more

Each Planet fitness I've been to always has friendly employees who look like they are happy to be there. I always see someone walking around cleaning which makes me feel good, Cleaning the machines and floors. Easy access and it's 24 hour ,a plus for me because my hours at work are constantly changing every week. AC is always working , great for working out. There is usually a staffed trainer nearby if anyone has any work-out or fitness related questions. As a Black Member I use multiple locations , great for me !!! It's just 20 dollars per month. One thing I would love to see in this gym is maybe a couple of classes like yoga, zumba or body combat. Group classes are spectacular! we can spend a little more time at the gym and know the people around us. The escalator never works ! but hello ! that is the point !! it's a gym! not a mall hahaha read more

Dirty locker rooms staff unhelpful elevator is always broken rude staff lockers are always being broken into nothing is secure

The evening staff is very immature. They're confused about work vs "hanging out." Many of the machines are falling apart. I've seen numerous people just walk in without scanning in. I've even seen a staff member even pretend they're scanning others in. (Same thing at another location.) Last night the staff members were playing the music at unsafe volumes which could actually lead up to possible injury for costumers (that's how loud the volume was.) I'm aware students workout in this environment and I don't think the organization understands that their staff is mixing the lines between professional and unethical. The young staff upfront have started turning the evenings into their personal hangout environment for friends. Glad to see the "G" in the words "You Belong" upstairs by the treadmill was finally fixed. This gym is falling apart. Leg press machine was also broken. The bikes are breaking down as well. This location is actually why I canceled my gym membership. read more

I recently moved over from the location in Simpson (Bronx) for a lot of the same reason I'm considering just eliminating planet fitness all together. I think people that work for these types of business should excel in customer service. And sadly enough they don't. Whether it's the pay, schedule, whatever it is. It is very rare I encounter someone that is genuinely welcoming and or helpful at planet fitness. For starters since I made the switch to this location the escalator has been broken. On both levels, seeing prior reviews I see this been going on for a while. Why not fix it ? Or eliminate the escalators altogether. That way people can enter and exit and the same time. You know ... like a normal building ? God forbid someone is coming down the stairs, you will have to wait for them to come down so you can go up . How they have not been issues violations for this is beyond me. Or maybe they are and just paying it .. who knows. There are times I'm going up and looking at my phone and not paying attention that someone is coming down .. guess what we have to do ? Yep.. one of use has to turn around.. depending on body size. Sounds ridiculous no ? Well that's very much the reality here. You go up the stairs and the staff is almost never welcoming. Always on their phones and almost never make eye contact. No good Afternoon , good evening , nothing. They all huddle around at the front desk looking miserable.. I'm confused as to why they are there to be honest. Why not cut the staff and use the money for gym improvements ? Maybe escalators ? The fountains are always dirty with someone's gum or pre work out powder. And sometimes even clogged where it can't be used. They recently closed a few months back for "machine upgrades " but it pretty much looks the same. As you make your way upstairs.(make sure no one is coming down or you will have to turn around as the escalator is also down on this level ) you see machines out of order and in the express section the tint has been peeled off for years ( originally I was in this gym prior to going to Simpson's ) never has been fixed. Mere cosmetics but it does affect the overall feel of the gym. Bathroom mirrors are always dirty , toilets clogged and foul odor. Behind front desk it looks horrible with damaged paint that needs plastering. I actually spoke to a team member today about the escalators and she told me " I'll be honest with you they are never going to fix it " she went on to talk about landlord not wanting to pay 100k to fix escalators etc etc .. she also seemed genuinely surprised when I told her that it's a fire hazard.. but I wasn't surprised that she would be oblivious to many things as she's just there to wipe machine and be on her phone. Overall I think I'm over the service from planet fitness . There low bar for customer service enables this type of service to perpetually engrave it self within this brand.. and it sucks for any franchise owners, but you will have your people that pay there 10 bucks and be about their merry way .. but you have some of us that don't. I rather pay a little more and have someone give you that extra boost when you're checking in. Even if it's just seeing your name pop up on the screen and calling you by your name .. you know ? Stuff like that matters to some people . It makes a difference .. when you have someone who is front facing and the first thing you see when you enter a place .. wouldn't you want it to go well ? Wouldn't you want to have someone there that actually does more than just make sure it's you that using membership (even though they sometimes don't even look at you anyways ) This gym is a product of its location .. and it's very unfortunate. Ps: it seems since the escalator doesn't work or ever will , they just decided to not even sweep it or even clean the stainless steel... good job guys! read more

My issue with this location is the escalators. As a member for 2 years, I have yet to see these things work and that is a safety hazard. Escalators are not the correct height for normal walking and they should NOT be used in that manner. There have many times where I felt like I was going to fall down the stairs. Either fix the escalators or just remove them as a whole and put normal stairs. read more

I really like this gym because it's 24 hours everyday including weekends. The gym itself has one floor for weight and other machines for body building and the treadmills and bikes is on the top floor great for those who want to work out and lose weight. It's kind of dirty maybe because people be leaving tissues and bottles by the machines after they finish the workout. Some of the machines is busted but there is plenty of others to use. They are always nice to me, flowers. No compaints‍. They always greet me and they always say bye ms flowers. Everyone's energy is contagious. Sometimes, we have to check ourselves first. Ask yourself, "was I pleasant" because technically, when you walk into anyones place, you should speak first. They are always coming around to clean and they are always checking mask. I have tried but I just CAN'T with this location. No matter what time I go it is too crowded (and loud) for my liking and I'm not too fond of the crowd there. I am a black card member but still feel there are too many guests who hold the machines for their friends and hog the machines from paying members. Many members and guests lack gym etiquette. This place is like a hookup spot (club atmosphere) and I'm tired of being "checked out" by men (I'm a woman). That is not what I am there for and it really makes me not want to go. Not only that, but most Planet Fitness machines don't feel true to the weight they say they are. For instance I can 175 lbs resistance on the abductor machine something I would never be able to accomplish at my old gym. On a good day I could do maybe 70 lbs. and I have had better physical progress at the city park gym honestly. If I belong to a gym I like to look like I actually workout and I am not getting those results because I DREAD coming here :( They have tried by extending the hours to 24/7 but it's still too crowded and I'm still not happy. I have had great experiences with other locations mainly the one on 125th near the MAC store and across from the Sprint store in Harlem but I shouldn't have to travel just to get a decent workout when this is so close to my home. I'm going to cancel my membership and join the Blink that is not too far from this location. I hate saying this because I love that they give everyone the opportunity to workout and it is good that people go, but most don't look like they go to seriously workout. They just play around on the machines and block the serious folk from using them :-x The staff is really nice and I hate giving a bad review but I wish I had known what it'd be like before I joined (I joined before they physically opened this location, lesson learned). read more

So lets start with the pros. It's location is absolutely ideal and in the heart of 149th Street & 3rd Ave in The Bronx. Meaning easily accessible and fairly close to my home and college campus. Second the staff is extremely friendly and attempt to keep a clean work out environment and clean locker rooms. Third and lastly it's open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Now the Cons; Always crowded for "normal people hours" (7AM-12AM). And it sucks because if you want a great work out you would have to arrive before 7AM or after 12AM!! Who on earth works out at that time?!?!? Second, be prepared to work out with people I would like at refer to as "Dudes who just came home". The work out environment is extremely friendly how over its just a bit intimidating working out with some one who's pumping 3x the weight I'm struggling with, just saying lol. And lastly the people who come here don't have any gym courtesy! Clean up after your self! I truly don't understand what's so hard about wiping the machine down once your done, putting the weights back once your finished, and just keeping a clean locker room. This is exactly why I don't blame the staff for the condition of the facility if they're trying the best to maintain its appeal and the consumers just don't respect any house rules. That being said, I've been working out at this location for about a year. Been a member of Planet Fitness for about 3 years. They have many great locations but this location could definitely use another Planet Fitness really close by. A few blocks away; something like what was done in Harlem. They have two locations within 5 blocks of each other. GENIUS in my opinion. It will definitely better manage the crowdedness and keeps it members loyal. First I will start with the service. Most of the reviews on here for the 3rd Ave location are 1000% accurate! The staff should all be fired! You got a bunch of kids workings there. 0% work ethics. The staff don't greet you, one guy named Brandon is always eating your free candy and talking to somebody like he don't even work there! And when you get there you got to ask to check in. At any other gym the staff is waiting to greet and check members in. The escalator hasn't been working for about 3 or 4 years now so your limited to one side wait til someone comes up so you can go down smh. Who's in charge of this place? New member good gym, they keep it clean and great hours - would be nice if they raise the temperature in the shower. This is nyc and it gets dirty everywhere and so it's important to have adequate cleaning amenities like Hot water especially after a long workout! I was a little disappointed. The initial impression was poor, the entrance was poorly maintained. When I entered this location the escalators were out of service. I reached the front to check in the staff were not friendly or inviting, they were gossiping about their jobs and how much work they had to do. I tried to get their attention and I felt that I was annoying them. The one good thing was the gym was empty so I was able to choose any machine to work out on. read more

I try to come here everyday, and it is amazing because it is 24 hours. The staff is always courteous and friendly, and the facilities are kept in great condition. Though there are people who forget to throw away their paper towels after cleaning machines, all of the equipment is great. It can be hard coming between 5pm-9pm on weekdays as the gym gets VERY crowded and you can find yourself waiting for a treadmill or bike. Overall, great place to work out and I love coming here, but make sure you come at the right time. read more

Every planet fitness is the same. They have all the same equipment. Nothing really special. And I understand the no judgment zone but no scales? Come on! I'd like to know what my weight is. Anyway, depending on where and when you go a girl can get a really good workout without feeling uncomfortable. No special classes but you get what you pay for. read more

Horrible staff! They are always rude and act as the guest that come to use any of the amenities that come with the black card are bothering them! I pay a monthly fee and half the time the machines don't work or staff does not know how to program them for you to use. When I go to use the tanning the man behind the desk says sorry you need to come back because I don't know how to set up the tanning booth. I ask him how is that possible he says I'm just the janitor we are short staffed. Who's fault is that??? Where is the manager of this location??? What can I say about Planet Fitness? Plenty good things of course. This gym is 24 hours and has a wide variety of machines. The location is near the major subways and buses and very east to get to. The staff is friendly and try their best despite of how busy it gets. They are what make this gym so great to join. The manager Stephanie is very caring and considerate. The only downside is that it does sometimes get crowded. Over great experience!!!! read more

This is the worse planet fitness I've been to. There's always one bathroom working in the women's locker room, Several lockers are broken.The pins to stop the weights on the machines are missing. People hardly wipe down the equipment after usage, the cleaning solution seems watered down. There's construction going on within the facility in which the equipment had to be moved around. Because of construction moving the equipment it makes it hard to get around the place because everything is so close together. this facility is so convenient for me because I live in the neighborhood but it's just terrible. First and for most that one star is a no star! if I had the opportunity to not even give them a one star even better. I would not highly recommend to go into this location this planet fitness it has safety issues and the employees are not as vigilant has they should be or trained well, i was robbed of my personal belongings in there premises of this facility as while I was working out someone broke into my locker and I had my stuff secured with a locker and it was still broken into and I wasn't the only victim of this cruel act, I also heard from other random people that this happens often in this location. but this time I was the victim, I had made a police report and I still have not gotten a response of them finding the perpetrator, this inhumane situation looks like is an on going thing and it has to be stop. soon they will find the person who is involve of doing such a horrible act, karma will hit soon!and it's someone that is or could be a member of the gym also the field manager of this facility as no care or is sympathetic to what happens in his gym or his members, please from the bottom of my heart be careful of location and go somewhere that are more vigilant and safe god bless and good luck. read more

The location is great but the workers are horrible , there is no customer service and if your not Spanish they don't show you any type of hospitally , it made me canceal my membership !! I was so upset with this location and I recommend that you don't workout there !!!! read more

This planet fitness gym is the cleanest one I been to yet. I always come when I get of work at 8: 00am every morning. The woman's bathroom always so clean. I guess because of the only African american female staff that I always see in the morning. She really nice and always so friendly. She very stylish as well. Very refreshing to look at. The other staff members are great as well. By far a very clean gym. Kudos to the morning staff. Keep up the great work. read more

This is supposed to be a judgement free zone but is really not. Now a member can be perceived as a fraud. I have been a planet fitness member for five years and a staff denied me the use of the massage chair cause I refused to follow a bogus request that was questionable, that it somewhat stereo- typed me and that it did not make sense to me. To use the massage chairs the only thing I had to do was showed my black member id card to staffs and signed a clip board. Now to get a token for a massage a staff asked me to scanned my card into system because this staff did not believe I was a black card member with benefits. I showed this staff my black card id, mentioned I was scanned in already, and still did not get the benefit of doubt. I was hesitant to follow this request because some of these staffs make up their own rules and cherry picks which member to use them on for what ever reason. I was scanned in already and getting scanned twice would indicate that at some point I left the club and came back to work out again. I would see this on my account and login history and I did not feel too comfortable with this kind of scenario. The purpose of scanning a member's card is to register them into the gym to work out and that is it. It is not for the purpose to show that you a black card holder when you can show your issued pf black-card id as proof but scanning members twice or more can result in a higher member occupancy number. The reality is that you can give your tokens to another member or guess and they can walk in and get a massage with out being question. This made up rule does not make sense to me and its preposterous. read more

this is the one of the most cleaness planet fitness in the bronx. you have to go in the mornings. the woman locker room stays so clean. thank to the tall dark skin girl. she super friendly and you can tell she works out. she makes the mornings great to workout. she an excellent staff worker. keep the good work up! read more
