The upkeep of the machines leave very much to be desired. Out of 5 stationary bikes 2 don't have broken straps on the pedals. No problem if the user is small/has smaller feet. But if you have normal sized feet you're in for sore ankles and or knees from the awkward angle the straps hold your feet at. It has been this way for at least the past 6 months. I am not going to even bother to discusss the staff as for me, I simply go to a PF to work out and be done. I write this review simply based on comparing it to the Stow / Cuyahoga Falls store which I am coming from as I have relocated to North Canton. Simply, stated - this PF store is horrible. The location is old and worn out in the surrounding area and of course the building the PF is in. This PF store is dark, cramped and has limited or miissing equipment on many of the machines that I have used in the past. This store is about 20% small than the Stow store. Big down grade. I will need to look into some althernatives. This store sucks. read more

Turns out I have been taking this place for granted. I'm moving from Green to north of Akron and went on a journey up there to find my new home club. Searched everything all around within reasonable distance of my new home and commute to Cleveland. Turns out that there's no PF in the region better than Canton PF! They're all outdated and faded well beyond their past glory. Canton has the newest equipment, has the cleanest brightest updated look, has that affluent feel and great crowd, good overall vibe. It's tops! Lucky for me, Macedonia is a close second. If they update their cardio machines they might even overtake, but for now it's Canton that's champ. Take a bow. This location is unprofessional and rude. I workout later in the evening, and the young, college aged employees just stand up at the front desk, talking with members that are, clearly, their friends. They barely acknowledge others that come in. My most recent experience, the what got me to cancel my membership, was when the manager came up to me to discuss an odor issue. He addressed personal hygiene with me on the open floor, opposed to the front desk or a private setting as I was leaving. First off... I have never been told I have an odor issue (friends, family, co-workers). When I workout, it's hard. I sweat and likely do smell before leaving, which is more than I can say about their members walking on a speed of 3 on the treadmill. That's just one of the many complaints I have, and the one that set me over the edge to cancel my membership finally. The staff is rude, management is horrible (they've been through more managers than you can count) and they never keep anything stocked (especially at night). Are they the cheapest gym? Sure. But you get what you pay for. I can say that about most cheap companies, products and services. Spend the extra money and purchase your own equipment, or join a more expensive gym where the staff actually values their members and customers. I have, since, cancelled my membership at this location and purchased a treadmill at home. At least I can workout hard there without getting complaints about an "odor issue." I've been coming to this location 3-4 times a week for the past five months. I'm usually there between 8:30-10:45 in the morning, and shower here before work. I have a black card membership. The location is SUPER convenient. Plenty of parking. Great hours. Tons of machines. The employees are awesome. They always greet me with a smile and tell me to have a good day as I leave. It is ALWAYS clean; I constantly see someone wiping down machines or mopping. I feel very comfortable showering here. I have never, ever felt judged. There are people of all ages, races, sizes, etc here. In my opinion, the black card is totally worth it. I use the massage chairs daily. The hydromassage beds were replaced around March, and the new ones are really cool. I haven't utilized the tanning or fitness classes. I'm giving it 4 stars because there have been two weird situations: a pipe burst and I had to take an ice cold shower, then they randomly closed because the electricity was off but didn't post this on their social media. Also, the women's locker room is SO dimly lit that it makes it difficult to see when doing my hair/makeup. Overall, I really enjoy working out here. I recommend it! read more

Though I often refer to planet fitness as the "Walmart of Fitness Centers." This place is good for how little it cost to sign up. Like most Walmart's you're still going to find your gang of old people and an oddly large amount of people in Jenco Jean shorts. The equipment is clean, it's never more than moderately busy, and the staff seems to change so often that they all still seem to be in that "introductory nice to everyone phase". Locker rooms are clean. You're not going to star in any competitions from working out here but you can still maintain a rather healthy workout until your next weekend bender. I only have one small complaint - if you're in the shower and someone flushes the toilet - the water pressure drops immensely..... kind of annoying, unless you like the feeling of getting peed on - then it's perfect! read more

I have had Multiple Sclerosis since1996 and was going there because they are open 24/7. I walked in and a man is leaning in the back and I asked if I could join and he said very cocky. Sure smile, nothing. I said well what do I do and all he did was point to the computer. I said so I just fill this out and he said what do you think. I said I have MS and he just shugged he's shoulders. I smoked my phone on my hand and said thank you for your help and he said ok you can leave Right now. I said I have to finish filling out this form and he said leave now or Im Going to call the cops! Is this how you want the disabled people to be treated. He acted like he was to good for anyone and that is a damn shame. I served this country and am suffering from a disease that is confusing every day. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I hate this place with every fiber in me. The staff is not helpful and all this business wants to do is take your money. The $10 a month is not worth the anxiety and low quality that this gym provides with your membership. If you're thinking about joining, absolutely do not. Look into a better gym with employees that actually care about their customers and want the best for them. I'm writing on my own behalf, but also to dispel a bit of what some others are saying. First, the good. Planet Fitness costs TEN BUCKS a month. Or two large Starbucks drinks. Or a 32 oz. Christmas Ale. You get the point. It's cheap. And compared to other gyms which are three to five times more, it's REALLY cheap. When you buy something cheap, you can more or less expect the basics. And at Planet Fitness, that's what you get: the basics. A bunch of Nautilus style "do it yourself" machines, a few racks of dumbbells, some barbell curl bars, and a variety of cardio equipment. There's also a few ab machines and a small "circuit" area. They also have music and about 12 tv's with various national programming. If you're a normal tub o' lard looking to drop those 20lbs you gained over Christmas, this place has more than you would ever need. For $20 a month, the "black" membership, you also get unlimited tanning, massage chairs, half off drinks etc. if you ONLY tanned there, $20 a month is a steal. Ask around at some tanning salons what their unlimited monthly fee is. You're winning at PF. Lastly, if you want a million free weights, and some bro trainer, there are plenty of (much more expensive) options around town, I suggest you find one of those. After all, you're only paying $10 a month people, so you can't possibly expect all the bells and whistles. Lastly, I have never had to have my membership canceled, but I can't imagine a multi-million dollar corporation is trying to screw you over. In fact, I'd bet the reason you find it "hard" to cancel your membership is the same reason you found it hard to actually get off your butt and go to the gym in the first place. This is not my home gym, but I go here occasionally because it is convenient when I am in Canton doing other things! It is definitely conveniently located, and that is probably why it is always crowded. I am sure it is the cheapest gym in Canton which is why everyone goes there and I don't really have a problem with that. You may have to wait for machines from time to time. Most of the machines that I like to use have two identical machines, but for some there is only one available. Working out with a buddy is a little more difficult here because if you're standing around waiting for a friend to finish up an exercise, it feels like you're in the way. I prefer my home PF but in regards to convenience, this checks all the boxes! read more

They continued charging me, even after I cancelled my membership! I had the black card membership but it was hard for me to get down to the gym because I needed childcare. It was coming up on a year membership, which means I could cancel by giving them a 30-day written notice. I sent the cancellation letter certified and they charged me for my last month, March 2015. I called a few weeks ago to make sure my membership had been cancelled, since I have heard that Planet Fitness will sometimes keep charging, even after you cancel. The girl I talked to verified through my name and membership number that my membership was indeed cancelled. And then I got charged for April. Gah! I called them and today the gentleman on the phone said that my membership is not cancelled. I complied with their rule of a cancellation in writing at least 30 days prior to when you want your membership cancelled, sent via certified mail. I called and verified my membership was indeed cancelled. And yet they did not fulfill their end of the agreement and actually cancel my membership and stop charging my bank account. To be fair, they have nice, clean facility and friendly staff. They also promised to make a note and have the manager reverse the charge. We shall see! If the charges are reversed, I will edit this review to reflect that I have received my money back. UPDATE: 12 days after my erroneous charge and 3 phone calls to them later (and a return phone call from the manager - thank you!), I received my refund! I'm pleased. I asked if I would be charged for May and they said I would not, so hopefully they have taken me out of the system. Based on cleanliness of the gym, the various amenities, price of membership, and friendliness of the staff, I think they deserve 3 stars, so I have increased the stars on this review from 1 to 3. I wouldn't give them more than that because of the fact that I had a hassle to cancel my membership (certified mail and still being charged and having to call several times and wait for a refund). read more

We joined in May2018, Black card memberships for both of us.This was so we could use the Hydro-massage beds and the massage chairs(which I am too short for).We applied online and we applied for Canton vs our local PF. 30 minute drive. The Black card also allows you to get an orientation, a print out of what you should use and do exercise wise to reach your physical goals.I have always noticed,that there is a worker who walks around wiping down things and the restrooms are always clean when we go.Mon-Wed-Fri or the weekend when it is less busy. We were not told anything when we came in the first time, just turned loose which, I thought was odd. Thought we would at least get a run down of rules etc. NOPE. We also were not told about if we wanted to cancel our memberships there was fee. We were considering going down to the basic membership, because of our schedules changed. We're looking at 49.00 each coming out for annual fee and monthly membership of 21.99 ea. PF is a good place to go for the most part.I suggest if your height challenged and overweight. Walk through the place first, before becoming a member. Perks on the website (FREE Merchandise) If you got a BLACK CARD membership, they don't do it anymore. I am extremely short and overweight, some of the bikes are a pain to climb on as well as the treadmill, ARC is fun but take that machine slow. They have tanning, massage chairs. 50% off merchandise, ability to go to other PF gyms, and you can bring a guest with the membership. HI I have been with planet fitness for a few years and have only went to this gym 4 times.They continued to charge me month after month. They said there is nothing they can do about it because of the "contract" so I said ok and cut my losses. My sister went today to cancel my account as I am in Florida and the account was opened in Ohio and I realized a few days ago they charged me a $41 annual fee. Moving forward my sister delivered the paper of cancellation and I asked to speak to the lady at the counter who once she got on the Phone introduced herself as planet fitnesses regional manager. I explained the situation to her that I cut my losses but I would really like my $41 she went on to explain it is for paying for the facility so I asked her doesn't it make sense to have your customer pay a annual fee for a facilitys membership that I won't be using then she starts explaining the contract. Paige was the girl that horribly greeted me and my boyfriend beyond rude to the point where I almost wanted to argue with her because didn't bring my card inside which is silly, simply cause it isn't hard to pull up by number. Nice place to work out for the average person. There are a lot of small problems, but the main items are taken care of. They presently have five treadmills not working, the toilet area smells most of the time, shower handle fell off today, the showers kick down when a toilet is flushed. As a gym it's a good place to workout keeping or trying to get in better shape. The only thing I dislike is for a gym there seems to be a lot of out of shape staff members. During busy hours you will wait on equipment, its extremely hot, and the staff is hit or miss. The personal trainer is great! The tanning beds are stand alone and only 10 minutes at a time. Equipment is down a lot!! And takes weeks to get fixed. The massage chairs are old and dated, broke a lot. Most of the men working out do not follow the rules, putting weights back or removing, they don't clean up after themselves, and no one ever puts them in check. I'm loving my PF membership. I'm so not a morning person, but at PF, I can work out after work (after 11pm). I have the black card, so I can also use the tanning booths, massage chairs, or the aqua massage beds. The staff is always very friendly, the gym is clean, and thank heavens, it doesn't smell all sweaty! I could barely handle the "gym smell" at Bally's. The things I wish were different would be having it open all night on weekends, or at least on Friday night. And, it would be great if when I brought in a guest, that they could pay a dollar or something to use the massage beds or chairs along with me. Way too crowded during normal business hours. I typically go before work around 7am, and it's not too bad. If you try to go anywhere from the 9am to 7pm, good luck. You will be bouncing off other people like ping pong balls, and waiting on machines. Not enough equipment to accommodate the volume of people that work out at this gym. read more

Pretty decent place to work out. They've added new machines. There's plenty of cardio and lifting machines to suit anyone's taste. Good deal overall for $10.00 per month. Wish they offered classes but there's no room in this building (and you'd probably pay more in membership fees)...still, they should consider it. Seems like PF/Whipple location is outgrowing the building with the addition of the new machines - less room now to do lunges. Also, some people are not good at disinfecting the machines after they've used them so I would recommend disinfecting before and after use to be safe. read more
