This gym is pretty basic. It has all the componenets needed for a work out with zero frills. There is a reason its so cheap, as far as the monthly fees are concerned. They don't have a separate room like most gyms have for you to go in and work out semi-private workout, they do not offer any classes and the bathrooms feel dirty. Not dirty as in, trash all over the place but dirty as in it needs to be disinfected. It would be a plus if at least one channel on the 10 TV's was for females. Its always sports, news and what looked like cop shows. Some reality , comedy or trash tv would have been great on at LEAST ONE tv, there was never anything remotely interesting (to me) on any of them and sometimes I like to zone out on a show while I'm doing cardio. It seems the rules are a little inconsistent, and are based on who's working. The third time I went to work out, I was told it's mandatory that they take my photo however the friend that I work out with was never asked to take her photo. I didn't want to take a photo on that particular day and was told that I had to if I wanted to work out. Each time we've gone back, they have never once asked her or made it clear that it's "mandatory that she has a photo on file" making me feel singled out, which I'm not cool with. As far as I know, they already had a copy of my drivers license from when I signed up so why did they need an additional photo of me? It gave me the ick so... that was the last month of membership. Parking was kind of a joke as well, depending on time of day but, most of the time I would sit around and wait for someone to leave that was parked near the front because I was weirded out parking too far away from the door (if I went to the gym solo and it was dark). About the operating hours: It would also be nice if they were 24 hours, which I believe they were previously but have since changed and are now inconveniently only open until 10 on Friday and 7 on Saturday. It seems that they would keep their open hours a lot later especially on the weekends. You get what you pay for or, in this case what you dont pay for, its CHEAP for a reason. read more

This mediocre gym went just now (June 2026) from "meh" to the worst in town. The machines have almost always been busy - especially since SO many of the members sit and sit and sit... between sets while they just stare at their f'ing phones. :-( Over the past two days they REMOVED about 1/4 to 1/2 of the cardio machines (treadmills and bikes) and about 20% of the resistance machines. WTF, Planet Sh*tness!? This is MUCH, much worse! I've been going there for 4 1/2 years, but I am cancelling my monthly payment today and never, ever going here again. read more

Hard to explain, but you get what you pay for. Always packed, poor etiquette everywhere you look, far too many cardio machines when they could easily use more weight machines. The worst part is this place is supposed to be 24 hours like other others in the chain but for some odd reason it is not which is super inconvenient. My experience here has been top notch. The staff is helpful and friendly. The machines are great. They got some new ones in, and I'm definitely using them. It's fine. People are constantly cleaning. The people working there are friendly. There's plenty of machines but few free weights. Especially if you want to squat without a smith machine. I was going at 5:30am and it is surprisingly busy, didn't go any other times but can imagine it doesn't get better. I need the massage machines, including the vibration massage in the red light booth. The workers have been great. I have a big problem with people sitting on machines. people having big and small bags in the gym (though is stated as against policy), with people putting a bag on a machine to "hold" it for them while they are not there, with people using an extremely loud "hand drying" blower machine in the bathroom, and with people leaving liquid, wet, gooey, smear on the machines with unidentified pink smear from a spray bottle. I have had a free perfect private coaching class with my membership. A wide range of free coaching classes are available to me as a member. read more

Dirty, rude, unhelpful and disrespectful staff. Didn't explain how anything worked. Some younger short girl with brown hair that works at night (Angie maybe was her name) left me waiting in my room so long it was too late to use therapy by time got her attention. She called security on me when I calmly reprimanded her, saying I'd inform her boss next time?! I couldn't believe it. Nothing like that has EVER happened to me, I'm a very calm and quiet person. I'm 78 years old and a former exercise physiology professor at Chico State. While I was a serious weightlifter most of my life, time has caught up with me, so I no longer need top-tier free weight equipment. Planet Fitness is perfect. They offer low monthly payments, so I don't feel bad paying the dues when I'm out of town for extended periods. Their equipment is excellent and well-maintained. The gym is a great value and suitable for people of all ages. They are particularly strong in their selection of aerobics machines. read more

I love planet fitness, but this one is seriously lacking. The free weights are VERY limited and the area is tiny. The space is ridiculously small barely any benches or space to spread out or go around people and the machines. There is a ton of unnecessary machines that should be upgraded to the newer machines to free up space. I didn't see one step up board, kettlebell, resistance band, calf raise bar or anything extra which was disappointing. Not to mention way too many cardio machines taking up space. Half of them not being used. I would highly recommend driving to the new one in Oroville it's fantastic! Some planets have upgraded machines that do both abductor and adductor. Instead of having a machine for both. Plus wheres the dual cable machines so it's easier when needing two cables. No 360 full body set up either that includes adjustable step up, rope pull, cables, pull up bars and much more. There is plenty of room if machines were upgraded and extra machines were removed. There was also no massage chairs but the coin ones, I'll pass. The massage chairs are amazing for recover but not the coin ones. But of course the tanning beds are the newest nicest ones. . Shouldn't complain I got to workout, but definitely can't wait to go back to my home gym. I will say it was never busy so that was a nice plus not having to wait for machines, but I now know why. It's not 24hrs . I won't be going bk to this location now that the Oroville one is open when I am visiting NorCal. Even since my last visit our gym has added new equipment 3x in the past 2 months. This location in Chico is stuck in the past. Maybe focus on cleaning because the place is filthy, upgrade, better hours and instead of the latest tanning beds (Chico has plenty of tanning bed places) how about recovery massage beds. I get it's a small location, but there is plenty grow for growth. This place once was always busy, but I see why it's not now. They close during the summer to cater to college students.They have a sign in the door that says 24/5 and that is not only false advertising but an outright lie and they should be exposed as such. Went for my second visit today and so far so good. I go in off times so it's not that busy and other gym goers are fairly friendly. The guy who checked me in first day was super nice and explained everything. Only issue today I put my Adidas Zip up in a locker for 30 minutes, kept my valuables but figured a light jacket was safe. Came back to an empty locker so make sure to lock the lockers. Front desk didn't care at all which was disheartening. It's my own fault but frustrating. Bring a combo lock. read more

This is the worst Gym I ever Been to. The Costomar service is 0 out of 10 and the charge you hidden at all the time. I wouldn't recommend this gym for anyone of my family members and friends. Giving four stars because well staff needs improvement ! They don't greet you well and I'm the rare bird that comes in at perfect times like 4am but they could use a class or two . It cost zero dollars to be kind and say excuse me or have a good workout but nope nothing ! overall the gym environment is good ! Traveled to central California and used my membership at their clubs And come to find out they are all open 24:7 Chico needs to get up on that as well ! . I like the back room with a circle of machines you switch every minute. 6 people stationed up on machines. 4 employees up front acted like they did not want to say anything. The gym is clean and the equipment is in good working order here in Chico, CA. However it's a relatively new gym, so I'll have to re-assess this after a few more years. (I was a member of another gym in Chico, that I won't name, in which much of the equipment was often broken, and replacement equipment was not really commercial gym quality. It seemed that the owner was just letting the place fall apart while he collected substantial monthly dues.) I'm very happy to have the 30-minute Express workout room here! I want to do a classic, circuit training workout, and the specific room set up for this is fantastic. The only downside is that a few bozos still wander in and essentially sit on the same machine for multiple sets - not really using it as intended. +1 to Planet Fitness for having signs that indicate proper/improper use, but perhaps the signs need to be larger or they need more of these policy signs? So while the gym itself is reasonably, good, there are a couple of BIG strikes against it: NEGATIVE #1: The advertised monthly rate is deceptive and misleading. You pay $10 per month PLUS an annual fee of $39; so your actual cost is $13.25 per month. (What's next? $1 per month with an annual fee of $147!?) A MUCH more honest rate description would be something like "$49 for your first month, then $10/month for the next 11 months". This is still a reasonable price, but PF could be MUCH more clear about this. NEGATIVE #2: The Chico, CA PF doesn't until 7am on Saturday/Sunday. I'm an early-workout kinda guy - I like to get my exercise done first thing in the morning, and early AM workouts just fit better with my weekend family schedule. If they would open by 6AM on Saturday, I'd bump my review up by 1/2 star, and if they would open on Saturday and Sunday by, say, 5 or 6AM, my rating would go up by a full star. read more

I've been going here for five months now. The price is so cheap how can you leave a negative review? I have the Black Card Membership and for $22 a month with Tanning, Red light therapy and hydro therapy. I am particularly fond of the row machine and the stair master is my mortal enemy. There are free weights but that's where it's mostly congested. I usually stick to the weight machines. The gym itself is rather clean and the locker rooms are never crowded. Was nervous when I first joined because I have limited gym experience. The workers have always been kind and helpful. On my first day one of the front desk workers was helpful when I had said I'd never been there before and didn't know where the locker rooms were and she offered to show me around. Terrible customer service and management. Had a membership here at this gym for 4 months and hated it. Awfully busy with not a lot of free weights. Never was once acknowledged by the workers or greeted or simple smile unless you had to pay your fee. The girl with the dyed hair gave me attitude after telling her I didn't want to pay the $50 fee changing back to the regular membership. Don't waste your money here go to a different gym. Recently had my first bad experience with the staff at PF. It would have been a 5 star until the two last nights. This should be a no judgement review, but the girl two nights in a row was rude and condescending. I will avoid PF for a while so I am less likely to tell her how rude she is. First of all let's start with the staff. There are few that do anything but stand behind the desk. If you have an issue they are no help. The manager is never there and when she is she clearly isn't doing her job because the employees don't know how to handle anything. The machines are broken down and takes weeks or months to get fixed. They are dirty Many have mud on them. Forget using the circuit room. People don't use it for its intended purpose so you can't really do it and the employees could care less. No one wipes down the machines after use and again no one cares. I absolutely love this gym! Not only is everything purple which is my favorite color, but all the machines are very easy to use. I love the app that they have. You can check and see what times are busy and not. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. I love the hydromassage lay down chairs. The price is always right. If you're not someone who goes to the gym every single day, or looking for a pool, or somewhere that specializes in classes, this is a very nice simple gym to use for someone who only works out a few times a week. read more

I would like to echo the comments of Sean M and extend them. I visited this gym from out of town on December 17. Maybe 10% of customers were wearing masks. Not only did the workers not enforce the policy, they violated it themselves. They were either not wearing masks or wearing them around their chins. What prompted me to write this is that I just received an email from Planet Fitness touting itself as the cleanest, safest gym. My home Planet Fitness in Seattle lives up to this billing. The gym in Chico doesn't even try. Planet Fitness corporate should address this. read more

One of the worst PF's I've ever been to. I've been going to the gym at PF for awhile. The front desk staff is insufferable, and condescending. The gym also gets super crowded a LOT. People working out on mats in between machines. All treadmills taken at prime times (which is 3pm - 9pm). I don't trust the meter on the app to tell me how busy it is as it is always double. There is a small entrance which is exactly where people check in and it is hard to leave and enter. There are no other affordable options in the area so no wonder it is what it is. The only reason i'm still coming here is because it's 10$ a month. You get what you pay to read more

Planet Fitness is a low cost gym. i love the balck card idea but the employees don't keep track of who is up next for the massage, tanning or red light and will give your spot away not realizing what you are wating for.Even though there are sign in clip boards they don't use them.. So if your going for those you might want to rethink your gym. Its very frustrating. It happens more then it doesn't. We just started this gym and already talking about looking at others. read more
