I have my own Wi-Fi service on my phone. Why can't I use it my Wi-Fi at planet fitness? Why must I scan their barcode to use their Wi-Fi? When I don't need to do that? Planet fitness employee working behind the counter told me anywhere you go you must use their Wi-Fi at the doctor's office at the drugstore. I try to explain to her "that" isn't true, if you have your own Wi-Fi service on your phone. Why is my Wi-Fi service being blocked. It is unsafe to use public Wi-Fi service. I choose not to use it. That's why I pay for my own Wi-Fi service on my phone. I've been a customer of planet fitness for many years this just started I was able to use my own Wi-Fi service when I first started at planets fitness. ​I had a very disappointing experience at the Clinton, MD location due to the dismissive and unprofessional behavior of a front-desk employee working the counter. ​After requesting coins for the massage chair, I went into the Black Card spa room to sanitize and wipe down the chair. Before I could even finish cleaning, the employee dropped the coins into the machine and walked off. Because the cycle started immediately, the foot and ankle compression activated. I couldn't safely get into the chair without forcing my feet into an actively compressing machine, which is a major safety concern. ​When I tried to address this, the employee walked away while I was mid-sentence. Back at the front desk, when I asked for his name, he merely gestured silently to his badge instead of engaging like a professional customer-facing employee. He then insisted he had "given" me the coins, completely ignoring that he had started the machine prematurely while I was still wiping it down. ​Because of this, I decided not to use that chair. I sanitized a second chair, and another employee named Israel came back to assist. Israel handled it perfectly--he waited until I was fully wiped down, safely seated, and ready before inserting the coins. ​The gym was practically empty at the time, so there was no excuse for the rush, poor attitude, and lack of basic courtesy from the counter staff. I really appreciate Israel coming through with proper customer service, but management needs to address front-desk conduct and equipment safety protocols directly. read more

Two stars...one for the awesome staff that greets at the front desk and the other for the tanning beds that actually work. I truly thought the crowd meter was an accurate assessment of the "crowd". Nope. The parking lot is full and there are two bars. The machines are all constantly in use. For the amount I pay every month. I should just get an elliptical machine at my house. That's about the only thing I can use here. The stand-up tanning is great when there are paper towels for cleaning, but the lay-down is ridiculous. More than half the bulbs are burnt out. One of the bulbs is meant for a regular light not a tanning bed. This is the closest Planet Fitness and I don't want to cancel my membership, but if the only thing I'm paying for is stand-up tanning and an elliptical machine, I have no choice but to cancel. read more

So I called Corporate and their excuse for not dealing with any situation is because each gym is independently owned. I sent an email to the regional manager and the gym general manager but no response at all. I stayed away from all fitness clubs during the pandemic. My previous gym was similar to nightclub where folks came to workout & socialize in equal measure. I'm a road cyclist so my overall fitness remained in tact but my brute strength suffered. Since this is my unofficial off-season I decided to do something about it... I also moved further away from my popular nightclub like gym so decided to give PF another shot. So glad I did! This location is a nice size with a designated circuit area plus the abs & stretching pin (TRX inside the pin). Staff is professional & the equipment is well maintained. Cleaning stations & hand sanitizer are everywhere! When I've had any issue with the facility -the staff responds immediately. I'm a black card member so I use the massage chairs & water massage machines too. There are also several tanning rooms...more than I would expect with the majority of the clientele being full of melanin. This was a great planet fitness. I find myself in this area once or twice a week so I will definitely come back. The space is very clean and open. I found the lockers to be very clean also. I thought the floor was damp, but the guy was mopping while I was in the shower. They are very attentive to the facility and to the customers coming in and out of the gym. read more

They have typical equipment just like any other planet fitness. They have a very open layout, no closed off rooms, or weird cut outs that you have to hunt for. This location is always spot on when it comes to cleanliness. Their equipment is immaculate and their spray bottles are always filled, sitting next to plenty of paper towels for easy equipment wipe downs when you're done with your workout. Their staff are very courteous and efficient when it comes to checking you in. It's rare that I don't see at least one employee walking the facility, checking on equipment and cleaning where necessary. Their locker rooms are very modern and clean as well. In the women's locker room they had an electronic dispenser (see pictures) for things such as tampons, lotion, etc. You simply swipe your card and the machine dispenses what you've selected. Super convenient when it comes to those "oh crap, I forgot _____" moments. I was pleasantly surprised when I used my black card membership to use their hydro-massage bed post workout. At every other PF location I've been to, you get a standard 10 minute massage. I layer down in the bed and saw a 20 minute timer counting down *heart eyes.* Talk about a "treat yo'self" Sunday. Worst general manager ever !! Ima start off by saying my mother signed up for planet fitness and mistakenly put the wrong location, which is this one. We been calling since last week to try to change the location and it's always excuse on why the manager can't get to the phone because she either in a meeting, busy, not there, left for the day already. And never had nice had we got a call back. We call every day a different times and my mother did end up talking to her and gave her ( the general manager) and she said she has a life outside of work. After her excuses my mother gave her all the information she needed to do a transfer. It's still 4 days later still the location hasn't gotten changed. I called and called and employees say "we'll she the only manager and she doesn't have help and we not authorized to do transfers" so. My question is why hasn't she got help ? If she can't handle or be on top of the work load as your bosses above you for help. Seems like she picks and chooses when she want too do her job. I've contacted regional manager to let them know my problem and how it's not been fixed. Going on 2 weeks now. If I have to camp out at this location till I get this done I will mind you I love almost an hour away from this location. And also how are you a general manager with no customer service no urgency I get that you wouldn't be able to get it done the same day but two weeks from now that's unacceptable and the employees are lying on their own general manager saying she's not here she's in a meeting, but then the general manager snatches the phone and gets on the phone. Planet Fitness makes it extremely DIFFICULT and simply tedious to cancel your membership. First, you can not cancel it online or by phone, you have to cancel in person. Not only do you have to JUST cancel in person, it has to be at the location you originally joined. For some people who may move and/or travel frequently (like military personnel like myself), this is just impossible to do. I was deployed at the last minute overseas from a different state from where I joined PF so I definitely did NOT have the time to travel back to Maryland JUST to cancel a membership. When I tried to cancel by phone, I was told I had to send a letter with my name and phone number stating I want to cancel the policy. Aside from the exhausting cancelation process, these gym facilities are not that great and offer the bare minimum amenities in comparison to most other gyms. For instance, there are no saunas or basketball courts. I would recommend avoiding signing up for this gym no matter how good the promotional prices are. You WILL be taken advantage of! There are also a lot of additional unnecessary fees that they charge in addition to your monthly bill. read more

I like it here a lot. No issues with people, body shaming, space or many equipment malfunctions. The staff is quick, the trainers are thorough and they even have frooties as a snack after leaving. I visited planet fitness today and took a friend who wanted to join. once we get there we inform them that he wants to join. They instructed us to download the app. ok. We tried for about 15 minutes but was unsuccessful because the internet service was really poor. I explained it to the two at the front desk and asked could we fill out a form and pay. They said no. You must download the app even though they knew we were trying and could not. the young man recommended that we download the day pass. He was very helpful. unfortunately due to the wifi we could not. that was another 15 minute. so asked the female at the desk if there is another way to join the gym or workout especially since option 2 was to download a day pass. she said nope can't help you. So not only did they not get a new membership but I am canceling my membership. Just poor customer service. read more

I had a horrible experience on at 8 AM on 2/7/17 with Yalita (the spelling is incorrect but that is the sound of her name.) She has horrible customer service skills. There's no way she needed to raise her voice at me asking me to take a photo ID. I recently transferred from the Waldorf Gym to this location because this location is much better so I felt they deserved my money. Now I'm considering transferring back to Waldorf as a result of my experience today which is undesirable considering this location is nearly within walking distance from my home. Taking a photo ID is fine and at some locations I simply show my ID. I do not have an issue with this but I do have an issue with someone raising their voice at me. I called back to get the spelling of the young ladies name for this review. I informed her of me writing a review ragarding this online. She denied raising her voice at me. We talked about the conversation. She does not recollect using the improper tone. She notified me that she would let her manager know I had an issue. That's perfectly fine and I would appreciate a contact from the manager. Having this experience is shocking especially after I wrote a positive review regarding this location just four days ago. I am by no means trying to give this young lady a hard time. I am just concerned about the fact that this staff member is who was selected to welcome the guests to the gym. read more

A newer facility compared to other locations in the DMV. Was hopeful and excited to join. I tried for 8 months!! No longer have the patience. What kind of professional gym staff allows members to walk around with portable speakers on wheels, loud as H%^% blasting their personal music where everyone else has to hear their music throughout the Gym? We are adults what is wrong with people?? I know at other PF locations I have been to they would not tolerate this. Annoying and rude! Second, I witnessed one day a toddler walk in with two adults, walk passed the front desk staff, start running around the area where the treadmills are, parents were "chilling" talking to staff. Umm Why would you allow a child that young in to a gym?? Unless he is at day care. Then not even say anything to the adults when he is running around?? Of course this child got hurt!! All of a sudden we heard a shrieking scream, toddler not being supervised put his hand on the floor of a treadmill while a member was running. The adult ran over picked the kid up, ran through the gym to the outside, double parked illegally of course and drove away speeding!! Often at this location the equipment would break and it would take on average 2-3 months to repair one piece of equipment. One day I politely asked the Manager when they thought the leg squat bench machine would be repaired since it had been out of order now for 4 weeks!! She informed me she did not know the repair tech's schedule as she had several gyms to service and she did not want to stress her out by asking. Ok so this is why I paid only 10.00 a month!! The last annoying item about this location is the cell phones and texting. People behaved like they were at home! They would sit on equipment and text for five-10 min while people waited for machines!! smh, now that is some ghetto fabulous stuff. One day I joined LA Fitness in Arlington. A world of difference!! Love it!! Machines always working, if one is out it is only for a day or two, plenty of space, no one blasts music on portable speakers, or sits on equipment texting and talking on their cell phone holding up equipment. Like all planet fitness gyms this one is large with a lot of machines. This PF gym in clinton is fairly new i think. Its clean and always have a machine open to use. The staff greet you at the door and are friendly. They have a large parking lot that is well lit at night. There are plenty of lockers with built in locks. Rows and rows of lat screen tv's in the cardio area and a great playlist of songs playing over the speakers if you forget your headphones.This gym is inexpensive at a monthly rate of $10 basic or $20 premium membership plus $20ish membership fee(depending on promos sometimes the fee is waived) If you are a heavy or serious lifter this place is not for you. Squats, dead lifts are done on smith machines and the heaviest dumbbell is only 60lbs. Sometimes you have to grunt to push your self to the next rep or drop weights from killing that last rep but don't do that here because theres an alarm that sounds off when you drop weights haha. The main reason why I signed up was because its open 24hrs. I have another membership thats winding down and I pay $100/month for that but by the time I get off work its closing so theres really no point in staying at that gym although I love going there. To conclude my rambling, I recommended this gym for people wanting to become or stay active anytime of the day ...or night and not have to break the bank to do so. Never noticed this before--there's small lockers right outside the locker room. If I don't shower at the gym then I never use a locker but that leaves me carrying around my keys, cell phone, etc. in my hand, all while trying to workout. These lockers (which also has personalized combo) will allow you not to carry around the stuff you don't need in the gym but don't want to leave in your car or put in the huge lockers by the showers. read more

I have never been more embarrassed or personally felt discriminated against in my life. Today I walked into the gym (Planet Fitness in Clinton, MD) for the billionth time. I've been a member for over 2 years and have been to multiple locations across Maryland and Virginia. I wore the same exact outfit I wear every single time I go. Fleo brand shorts and a nike tank top. Today a female employee named Ms. April walked up to me to inform me that I needed to leave or change because my shorts were inappropriate. I informed her I've worn these shorts multiple times and no one's ever commented on them let alone asked me to leave. She persisted. I pointed to the woman in a sports bra who had a 6 pack and said well I'll stand here and wait for you to go kick her out too because she's not even wearing a shirt. She stumbled over her words and obviously did not feel that this woman's attire was an issue and reiterated that she was sorry, my outfit was unacceptable but that I could finish my workout before leaving. Mind you, by this time I was in TEARS. I have struggled with bulimia and body image problems my entire life. It's probably the only area of my life I truly lack any confidence in. It takes me hours to motivate myself to get up and go to the gym. I look myself in the mirror and have to repeat to myself "you're beautiful and strong and full of worth" the entire time im at the gym because its already a vulnerable place. How dare she have the audacity to decide that my body type and attire are not deemed acceptable (yet the shirtless woman was). Needless to say I left in tears and fuming without completing my workout. I informed her I no longer felt comfortable coming back and will be cancelling my membership when I can get the guts to go back and speak to a manager. I workout here 2-3 times a week. The staff is friendly. They keep things clean and have plenty of cardio machines. The only thing is that the training groups sometimes take up whole portions of the gym. Like the ab section or weight lifting area and it can be frustrating. In my mission to be more svelte and healthy, I signed up for a membership at this Planet Fitness about a month ago. My laziness precludes me from going as much as I intended, but the times that I actually HAVE gone, I've totally enjoyed myself. The gym is super clean, the people are ridiculously friendly, and they keep tootsie rolls at the counter. My only beef there is that the last time I went, they had grape flavor. And grape flavored tootsie rolls are just WRONG. Other than that, the equipment is plentiful, the 24 hour open policy allows you to not have an excuse to not go (unless you just own your laziness like I do and make no excuses), you can find times that work for you. They also have a nice amount of classes that are challenging. I know because I almost passed out in one. Totally not a reflection on the trainer--he's awesome. I splurged for the black card membership so I get to use the hydromassage and total body infrared chamber thing. I'd go there just for those two things, quite honestly. Today Planet Fitness responded to my review regarding my experience at my local PF when canceling my appointment. I didn't get the impression they read the entire review. Their response focused primarily on the additional fees charged to me vice my negative experience in canceling my PF membership. So I will focus on the additional fees charged to me also. As noted in the PF agreement to cancel my membership I had to pay a $58.00 cancelation fee (which I did on 14 December 2020). Due to the automated payment process, PF needed the notice to stop the billing by the 10th of the month to prevent the monthly fee from being processed on or around the 17th of the month as it may take up to seven (7) business days for any membership or billing changes to take effect. (100% reasonable) The automated payment system indeed took an additional $22.99 out of my account even though I had already paid $58.00 and canceled my membership three days before. It is unreasonable for PF to keep this fee and take a cancelation fee also. Furthermore, the PF agreement does not say, I'm not entitled to my fee of $22.99 back or that it is non-refundable. So this fee should be refunded back to me immediately. If PF keeps my monthly fee of $22.99 then my membership is still active and thus PF should not be entitled to keep my cancelation fee of $58.00. PF stop ripping customers off after so many of us worked to support PF during this pandemic. Do the right thing and refund my money, so I can support Uber Eats and a struggling restaurant in my area with that $22.99 as I did PF for at least 8 months in 2020. read more

This PF is very clean and orderly, which is important to me. One of the greatest gym perks is that this PF is open 24 hours- very hard to find and not normal for gyms! Every staff member has been really helpful, funny, friendly and available when I have needed them as well.If I had to truly complain about anything: -wish they had group classes like spin and bodypump -wish they had wipes instead of spray and towels to clean equipment I LOVE that PF has the hydromassage. Two days later I am charged a Annual membership fee for a membership I no longer have. "Well ma'am your contract states that if you don't cancel by the 25th you will be charged a annual membership fee". You mean for the membership I no longer have? Yes. So you charged me a annual membership for a membership I can no longer use. I can't access the facility but you have a annual membership for me? Does this make any sense....of course it doesn't. I've visited this location in person twice to cancel my membership, but instead I was given the run around and told two separate fees I must pay before they'd cancel. The people I've spoken to seemed to not know why I was told the information given by the previous person, and asked their names. Meanwhile, my account has been charged while they said it was frozen and the charges would stop. It's a terrible cycle of fees. I will be reaching out to as many people as possible to resolve this issue and hopefully someone courteous and professional will respond. It shouldn't be this hard to cancel a gym membership. I joined this location when it first opened. I have not had any bad experiences with the staff. They are all pleasant. What makes this gym horrible is the broken machines that take forever to get fixed. I did not renew this year. I am seriously thinking of LA Fitness which is more expensive however they promptly fix their gym equipment. I love the new Planet Fitness. It's clean, large and always open. It great knowing that I don't have to rush over to the gym before it closes since its open 24/7. I love the massage chairs and beds too. The staff is helpful and friendly, especially the curly haired young guy who's there in the afternoon. He always greets me when I arrive and was really helpful and fast when I needed my key card replaced because it was peeling. I had the pleasure of visiting the Clinton location where I saw plenty of smiling faces upon walking into the doors. The greetings alone were one of the many reasons I enjoyed coming into planet fitness. I was greeted by two of the staff, one was a young girl named Lateesha, with whom made my visit very pleasurable. Her character and sense of humor could easily tell me that she was a good representation of planet fitness and their motto. I was taken on a tour by a male named Davon who went through the facility step by step and answered all of my questions very well. His personality made the tour fun & go by very quickly. He was one of the reasons I even signed up for the black card membership and made me feel great about joining my first gym! I came back later that night with a guest and the night crew did a wonderful job of making my guest and I feel welcomed. They told me that they were very excited to have a new member and even my guest felt like she wanted to join afterwards! There were two other people there, shante and abriel that kept me laughing and made my workout go by faster without me even noticing! Also, the spacious facility made it easy for me to enjoy my workout and the Judgement Free motto was definitely one that fit this gym well. I had a hard time doing one of the workouts and I asked the fitness instructor, I think his name was Walter, showed me without any hesitation or frustration of how to use this machine. This company has done an excellent job with hiring wonderful staff and keeping the facility clean. I have been to multiple planet fitness locations and this by far was one of the best staffed and cleanest facility. Keep it up! The only downside that I would say about this facility is that the managers are never in, especially when I have a question or a comment about the staff. It is very unfortunate that when someone has something good to say about the facility, the managers are nowhere to be found. I will try my best to continue coming into this facility to get in touch with the managers so I can compliment the staff and question them about why they are never there. read more
