I felt like I needed to leave a review after reading some pretty harsh ones. My experience has been very different. I have had a very pleasant easy experience at this planet fitness. The equipment that I have used has been clean. And the circuit room everyone has adhered to the timing and movement. I have used red light therapy and tanning and found them both to be clean and in good working order. The staff at the front desk have been quick to assist me or offer help. I was given a very informative tour through the whole gym. I am 55 years old and recovering from an accident and found this gym to be a safe place for me and easy to access the equipment. I have not personally run into any broken equipment, and I've also used the treadmills. I tend to be easily overwhelmed or stressed by loud noises since my head injury and I don't have any issues at this gym. Somebody mentioned that the music was too loud and it didn't bother me at all. When I go there, it seems to me that there is a lot of equipment available, no need to wait for anything that I want to use and really nothing to complain about. So in all fairness to the young staff, who's been more than kind to me and to the equipment and the facility my experience was positive. You get an incredible deal on the membership price here and if it was any less, I don't think they could keep their doors open. So for what you're paying for you get your money's worth. read more

My old man lungs are still irritated from the guy who was cleaning the bathroom recklessly filled the air with spray cleaner while I was washing my hands. I really like Planet Fitness. It meets my exercise needs very well. Through my insurance I have free membership at both Planet Fitness and the new YMCA. The YMCA is a great community resource and does a lot of great things with classes, programs for kids, has a pool and a sauna and a Jacuzzi. But my exercise routine for years has been to use the treadmill and then to use weight machines. Planet Fitness has an interesting business model. They take over existing spaces, this used to be a Staples, and it's a really big space. For what I do this really meets my needs. Parking is much easier than at the YMCA. They have duplicates on most of the machines and they're not crowded together. To keep their costs low they don't have classes, fitness trainers, or a lot of other things. There are usually two people working and they are attentive to any questions or problems I've had. If I want the full experience of Jacuzzi, sauna, or other things I'll go to the Y. But just to have my regular workout Planet Fitness is very convenient and it's always clean. Recently I was in Bend and went to the Planet Fitness there. The parking lot was really crowded, it's in a strip mall. The machines were much more crowded together and it felt a little bit claustrophobic. I was told by staff that they were getting more elliptical machines. The elliptical machines were replaced recently and now they have less machines and they are not spaced out , so you're literally on top of someone while working out, and if you're a larger person you can't use them because of the way they are setup. The massage chairs are constantly down and aren't maintained or cleaned regularly. read more

I've been going to this gym for a few weeks now and I feel like I finally have enough experience with it to leave a review. I was initially worried about hygiene given other bad reviews, but I have never had any issues here. I don't use the showers or the bathroom at all so maybe they aren't great, but the gym floor and the machines are all clean. There are cleaning stations throughout the gym so you don't have to walk far to clean your equipment. I've seen a few machines that were out of order, but they are always working again the next time I go and it's never too many. There are always plenty of open machines, even when I go at 6pm on weekdays. I sometimes have issues with people hogging strength training machines (especially the Smith machines) but I just use something else until they move. I've never encountered a rude person here, be it an employee or a customer. Never had issues with creepy men or unwanted advice being given either. I always go with friends, but I think I would feel safe and comfortable going alone as well. The lockers out front are easy to use and there are always some available, again even during peak hours. There are more lockers in the bathrooms but you have to bring your own lock and theft is apparently a problem there (which is to be expected since you can't really put cameras in a bathroom). There is a water bottle fill station by the entrance to the gym floor and a hand sanitizer dispenser on your way out. The employees are nice and helpful. They are always willing to explain things to new members and never make you feel like you're bothering them. The spa area is nice and calming. I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet since I always have somewhere to be after my workout, but I'm looking forward to spending some time there someday. The parking lot is huge and you can usually find a spot pretty close to the entrance, even when during peak hours. It may look full from the street but it's not as bad once you actually pull in. Overall I'm so glad I took the step to start going to the gym to improve my health and get stronger. I had never been to a gym before a couple of weeks ago and it was definitely daunting, but I'm already feeling comfortable here and I can see myself sticking with it for a while. The staff are not able to do their job, resulting in dangerous situations. While adhering to the 30 minute workout a fellow patron entered the room and did not adhere, refused to comply with the posted signs and the employee Ryan told me (a woman following the agreement) to calm down and let the other person (a man) do what he likes. It was blatant sexism and when I pointed it out I was asked to leave. I am this gym 3-5 times a week or more for years and am disappointed that the employee was so weak and scared he decided he would adhere to the social standards of inequality rather than those of the company he works for. read more

So I travel and I've been to a lot of PF's, some really weird ones- like I got a haircut at one before. Anyways, my advice for this one is to wear flip flops and if you're in the massage area WATCH OUT FOR THE GLASS DOORS. Humbled me pretty quickly after getting a massage and I'm told I'm not the only one. I feel like just frosting the bottom half of the door would help this a lot. As for flip flops I recommend that in every public shower space, but in this one they don't have drains on the inside so make sure your stall is dry (it should be in my experience) before you hop in. Showers are one of the nicer ones I've seen, glad they have slip mats and the drains aren't really an issue if you take a second. I hate PF's cancellation policy and all that, but as a gym objectively I do like this one. The amount of TVs are super annoying (who is watching Naked and Afraid in the dressing room?? Who is spending that much time there or in the 15 minute massage chair to enjoy it? Puzzles me) Anyways, staff is nice, things are clean, the massage chairs are the nicest I've seen at any location, and the parking lot is the right size. If you're looking for a gym this is a pretty good one I'd say. (Docking a star for the glass wall. Honestly that could be a guest hazard, my glasses took the hit but it could've been way worse. This location is beyond filthy. I scrolled through the reviews to see if I was just being judgmental but no, many others have noticed too and have left reviews about how dirty of a place. They must be doing the absolute bare minimum as far as cleaning goes. I was beyond disgusted when I walked into a tanning booth there and saw this inside. The gym on west 11th is awful. My back was injured on faulty equipment on Friday and I have not heard back from anyone after asking for the manager to call me back. It's usually dirty, the massage chairs are out dated and hurt when your using them. The staff most of the time is so busy flirting that they pay no attention to other people. I saw a very large lady come in on Sunday and all 3 staffers turned their back on her. I was so beyond sad for this lady. I've gotten to where I really can't stand this place any longer. If you're going to get a PF membership, set your home gym to the Springfield location and avoid this one at all costs. I've had multiple poor experiences here. The staff doesn't pay attention to who's coming in and actually checking in, which results in a lot of stolen items from the locker room. I had my things stolen (which was partially my fault, for not having a lock), but when I went to the employees for help they were terrible. One of them essentially told me that I'm SOL and it's my fault and was beyond rude, while the girl working with him just laughed at me the entire time. When I told them who I thought stole my things, they didn't even remember the person coming in. What's the point of having people at the front desk to check in guests if they're just playing on their phones and being rude to paying guests? The assistant manager also came up to me during one visit after my things were stolen and rudely told me and my friend that we could not have our sweatshirts on the bench we were using. He made sure to not talk to any male guests about their bags that were on the ground though. In addition to the staff obviously not being required to go through hospitality training, the equipment is constantly broken and the floor is disgustingly dirty. Seriously, avoid this location because you will lose all motivation to work out and constantly feel belittled and like you're annoying the staff. I will be switching locations. read more

Planet Fitness, in general, is a super popular chain so of course it gets busy, but I don't care if I have to switch up what I had planned to do because I am, by no means, a serious body builder. Their advertising campaign claiming to offer a classic (aka basic) membership for $10 per month did not openly disclose that there's also an enrollment fee of $39 and a recurring annual fee of $39-45 per year. When you add it all up not including the enrollment feel, the cost of the basic membership is about $13.25 per month. And, if let's say you're only staying with the club for 12 months, the cost increases to $16.50 to $17.00 per month when the annual fee and enrollment feel is factored in. Their black card membership is even higher...at around $29.00 month with this same calculation. And...there is zero mask wearing policy. I've talked to their staff about the frequently seen guests without masks on. They told me that while at the workout stations, guests are not required to wear mask. But I've seen many who walked around the facility without a mask on -- even while entering the gym. Are the staff just too lazy to enforce the state's mask wearing mandate or, they just don't care? It's a health facility. You would think that maintaining a healthy environment is the highest pillar but apparently not at planet fitness. Now that wearing mask in the gym is clearly stated in the new state mandate, if I see anyone without a mask I'll just call the state health department and report it. read more

A lot of the equipment is starting to show signs of wear. Maintenance is lacking. Things will go broken for weeks at a time. Recently somebody decided to turn up the volume on the house music system. It's really annoying when you got the dance beat punching through your own music. Really sucks, 95% of the paying customers are wearing some sort of headphones or AirPods trying to hear the music they prefer. When I signed up it was 24 x 7 and now they decided they were only 7 AM until 7 PM on weekends. Seriously thinking about looking for another gym. EDIT: I see this morning that all but one of the weight bench pads have been replaced as well as the odd knob on other equipment. Good! The woman behind the counter asked the guy to take care of me as she "had to send an email". The *only* reason shady gyms have this practice is, as you'll see in reviews online, so that they can continue charging you beyond what you expected to be charged for. No other industry has this practice. I don't even have to pay my health or business insurance via direct bank withdrawal. Can you imagine if while signing up for Netflix they said "ok now all you need to do is go to a physical location, sign a paper contract, and give us permission to directly connect to and withdraw from your bank account!" Wowzers. No. I see the owner's response in other reviews about this --- folks, every business on the planet that has recurring memberships has to deal with expired cards. On 3-19-2023 I went to Planet Fitness, located at 2370 West 11th in Eugene. After scanning my 14- year old stepson (as a "guest") and myself, the manager (Derek Pollick), said that a waiver needed to be filled out. (Note: we have been in several times in the past while Derek was present and he had not requested a waiver on any of the previous occasions.) When Derek asked me who he (my stepson) was, I replied my friend for the guest pass (this is explained). Derek then asked why he had a last name different then mine, and what relation I was to him, as he is a minor. I explained he was my stepson and that it was complicated. (Additional note: familial status, like disability, is a protected class under Oregon law.) We scanned in right next to the manager just as we had several times before. The manager refused me access. He became aggressive, physically approaching the two of us in a confrontational manner, requesting a signed waiver. After a back and forth Derek chose to conduct in the public lobby, I asked for the contact information of Derek's District Manager. Again, I was answered with further threats of cancelling my membership and aggression. Derek then said he was canceling my membership. This was not only embarrassing in front of my stepson, but the whole gym as well. He then refused to give me a waiver form and then started saying I would have to fill it out in person at the gym desk kiosk. I have MS, vocabulary and words are at times extremely difficult; I walk with a cane. I use the gym as my physical therapy. The manager of your gym, located at 2370 W. 11th in Eugene, Derek Pollick, has refused me access to the gym and benefits I have paid for. This is not only against Oregon State laws, but he has refused me access to a product or service that I have paid for. I really didn't want to sit there talking to the manager about my relationship and the fact that I have MS and how my stepson's mom has stage 4 cancer. Derek and the lobby off Planet Fitness does not need to know any of this information. Neither do you; unfortunately this incident warrants reporting. Managers like Derek should not be in any kind of leadership role nor be permitted to be the face of any business wishing to avoid lawsuits. He not only doesn't know your own company mission statement and policies, but he is also ignorant of Oregon State laws and ADA accommodations. People like this are more about throwing their power around instead of setting a good example to his employees. Planet Fitness, you claim to be a safe and judgement-free zone. This is no way to treat your customers. I'm not a fan of gyms (I much prefer yoga or hiking) but due to some health issues I needed to up my exercise game. My husband goes to Anytime Fitness, but there was no way I was going to pay almost $40 a month for a gym membership. Planet Fitness is the way I went for the reasonable price, even though it's across town from me. There are plenty of machines, lots of lockers, it's generally clean, and the staff is friendly. I have the cheapest membership because I'm just there to exercise so I can't speak to their fancy-pants tanning beds etc. But if you're just there to get your cardio or build some muscle i think it's a fine place to check exercise of your task list. read more

My only criticism is The 30-Minute Workout is a great way to get your workout done quickly, but the staff never monitors it, so people don't follow the rules and just hangout on their phones or sit there. They will not let you cancel you membership unless you are able to provide an authorized signature, which is exceedingly convoluted considering it was so easy to sign up for through the app. They also refuse to remove my banking information from their system. The manager of this place is rude, unprofessional, and a con artist. I attempted to cancel my membership in August due to covid. The employee I spoke with worked very hard convince me that I should just pause my membership and that I wouldn't be charged. I reluctantly agreed and paused my membership for 90 days. After those 90 days were up the gyms were closed anyways due to covid. Now the gym has reopened and my wife and I were both charged our "annual membership fees" again. Which is completely insane because not only did they fail to inform us that they were even open again, but we are also being charged the annual membership fee after 12 months in which they were closed for many of those months. Such a scam. And the manager was very rude and dismissive in refusing my refund. Needless to say we canceled our memberships and will be joining a different gym. read more

This location has the strictest parking lot. The bathrooms are a mess every time I visit this location. The showers don't have drains it's a shared drain for all 4 showers. That leaves each stall super slimy so bring shoes for the shower if you decide to go here. read more
