All hydro massage equipment is out of order at the Fairfax, VA location, also the Red Light Therapy has been inoperable for about a month now. Not sure what the issues are with regards to getting this equipment repaired, but someone needs to address these issues. This business allows non paying teenagers entry all summer, tying up the machines from use by paying customers. What used to be a 1 hour workout could easily now become a 3 hour workout as teenagers with nothing to do but spend their entire day at the gym monopolizing the equipment making it unavailable to paying customers. In addition men claiming to be women are allowed into the womens bathroom. Join at your own risk. read more

What a wonderful gym this is. First off I love that it is affordable. Right now everything from gas, groceries, HOA fees, and taxes are up. For once I can workout in peace. The staff here are both helpful and supportive. This is one clean tidy spot to lift, and to keep at all goals. I like the lounge, as it's comfortable after busting through extreme workouts. Got the Dre beats on, as their Wi-Fi allows me to crank tunes. Is it super crowded? Nope. It can be busy sometimes, but isn't that all fitness centers? You can check on the app. That's very helpful. This gym is very welcoming. Some aren't and people of all abilities will like it here. Thank you to your staff for diligently sanitizing, and also being there for guidance as needed. This is a nice group of folks, to include even other members. That alone gets it my recommendation. read more

This Planet Fittness goes above and beyond. I cannot thank Jessie enough for actually staying late while I at least "tanned" in their amazing tanning bed! I have been running around "crazy" trying to take care of my terminally ill husband who is in the critical care Unit as well as myself. Since it was a Sunday evening and they close early I knew that I would not have time to workout but perhaps if I could just get into one of the tanning beds at least I would "look healthy"! Ha! Even though it was about 15 minutes until they were to close I was praying for a small exception that evening... Jessie did allow me to jump into a tanning bed! He gave me the priceless gift of relaxation, I walked out that Sunday evening glowing and looking like a princess, a far cry from the pale, disheveled and stressed out person who walked into Planet Fittness just a few minutes before! Jordan (this PF''s manager) obviously knows how valuable an employee like Jessie truly is. Jordan is quite the perfect "people person" and really knows how to make a client feel special. I once told a front desk employee that I felt as though I had wasted my time after trying to tan. Well, this particular employee spoke with Jordan who then offered me some priceless advice! Planet Fitness Fairfax is my little "heaven on earth". I can workout without being judged and relax in one of their massage beds and return home glowing from a few minutes in one of their tanning beds too! Who could ask for more? The gym size and accessibility is great. However, there are a few things that can improve: 1) More stair master machines. Currently there are only 3. During the evening on weekdays it's challenging to use one because they're being used. There are enough treadmills and elliptical machines. A row of stair masters would be ideal. 2) The women's bathroom needs better cleaning, especially the toilets. They're not being cleaned well. 3) The paper towels and disinfectant spray bottle stations can be monitored more frequently (especially on weekends) and refilled when the supply is low. 4) Walk thru the gym by the shift lead, sometimes the floors are wet and goes without being cleaned, creating a hazard for guests. read more

If you come here, make sure you bring a lock for a locker to store your personal items. I had clothes stolen from my locker, and even though they weren't expensive the lack or response from the staff was disappointing. I was told I would get a phone call after looking the cameras from their manager and got nothing, even a courtesy call. There's no accountability. Workout here at your own risk read more

I was enjoying this gym until I started experiencing some serious problems. It seems to me the corporate or district office has completely forgot about this particular branch. There are several problems going on currently that make this gym undeseriable place. First, air condition has been off for several months when it is almost 100 degree outside. No, the ceiling fans don't help fix this situation. Everyone is sweety and uncomfortable! Equipments are getting old and definitely need maintenance. Some of them have missing or loose parts that make it unsafe to use them. Those that are stopped for repair have been sitting there for weeks. Some equipments are making sounds. It looks like they need lubrication or replacement parts. As a result, it gets so uncomfortable to use them as if you are using extra weight. Cleaning stations are getting old and missing some parts. Paper towels are not always available. Sometimes I see toilet papers instead of regular paper towels. These toilet papers create more mess as they fall apart from the time you start using them. The management or corporate office should do something to keep their members happy. read more

Joined 3 days ago to this location. Black Card member so I can use the PF that is near my job too. This is the biggest gym. I have had no issues this far, however, the first time I used the hydro bed it stops before the timer expires. I think it was bed 1. I stopped after 3 mins. Then restarted to only give me 5 mins on the bed. It was a 10 minute timer. I used bed 2 today and it committed its whole time. Staff is friendly. Wish they had a full staff so the gym doesn't have to close down earlier. Don't like the yearly fee. I've always done rec centers with no yearly fee and paid about 30 a month... Overall. Nice location. Good views out the window. However. They do not offer beverages at this location. The cooler is empty...... read more

I really like going to this gym. There a lot to choose from. It clean. The only down side about this place is some of the staff are really rude. Almost 2 years of coming here there was never a time a staff question on having a sweater just be hung on a treadmill etc. because saw plenty of others customers do the same. Other staffs never said any word. But for some reason one of them said it was not allowed. Got to be kidding. What the big deal of having a sweater be hung up. Why is that I been coming here for years and now suddenly one staff says this... yep it really depends on the person. read more

The condition of this Planet Fitness location has deteriorated in the two years I have had a membership. In addition to their continuing problems with supplying hot water to the showers in the men's locker room, they have now stopped heating it. As well, the locker room showers are generally filthy and seem to go long periods without cleaning. The paper towel dispensers used for towels to wipe down the machines are often empty and either or both of the spray bottles are missing. One or more of the exercise area televisions are often dark for weeks at a time. Many mornings the front desk staff is absent so you have to check yourself in. That's not a problem unless you need to speak to someone or check in a guest. I understand that for $10 a month you only get modest accommodations. However, paraphrasing what Winston Churchill once said, "This gym has much to be modest about." read more

I would give this a zero stars if I could. It's f****** 100 degrees outside and the AC has been broken for months. They just don't give a crap yet PF has the audacity to raise prices. Several machines are ALWAYS out of order, and I mean ALWAYS, and they always run out of paper towels - so no one cleans after they're done using equipment and 90% of the machines have a terrible odor. Absolutely disgusting place. They're always short staffed and when there are employees all they do is sit on their asses playing card games, on their phones, doing homework, or eating chipotle. No employees actually care about their job hence why everyone quits and they're short staffed. Terrible gym to work out in. Do not recommend. I canceled and got a gym membership at xsport that is the same price as the black membership that has good staff and clean environment, with actual machines that work. read more

Black card member. I pay an extra $10/month so my total is $20. First off - lets be fair - let's rate PF based on being a $20/month gym. Not fair to compare it to a $100/month gym. PF is a huge value. Gym is geared to people doing cardio. Lots of treadmills, etc. It is light on free weights and heavy weights. If you are looking to win the next Mr. Universe, then don't come here. If you just want weight machines, or light weight wussy free weights, then PF does the job. Gym is clean. Locker rooms are clean. Staff are nice. Gym members have good manners. $10/month black card is nice. Massage chairs, tanning both, and pink light machines. Nice. Probably cheaper than a tanning saloon. I don't tan; can't imagine a lot of people do nowadays but whatever. There is a 30 minute workout area, but there are always a bunch of ass-hats that go in there and use the machines so you can't do the 30 minute circuit. No saunas, steam rooms, spas, towels, etc. But that is why it is $10/month. If you want a pool, join Xsport. You won't ever be able to use the pool at Xsport because there is always some 70 year old person doing the back flop in slow motion blocking the whole lane. Crowd meter. The PF app tells you how busy the gym is. Nice to know before you go. If you want to use free weights...forget about it. Always in use. If you are a treadmill type person - there is always one open. Parking lot is good with plenty of parking. Self service cubbys in the gym when you enter. Nice feature. Name any other service in the USA that provides all this for $10/month.??!!?? read more

This gym is just terrific. Besides the fact that it is an awesome gym all around. A manager once recently went out of her way to track me down to return my purse I left there (I didn't call them as I didn't remember going there the day I thought I lost it). Sure enough everything was in there to include store gift cards and cash. So not only are they a very supportive staff and management, they are really honest and thoughtful also. The prices for this gym are just super given the quality of the equipment and their massage chairs and tables for Black card members are really nice. I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for some fitness! read more

I love the cleanliness of this gym. Only thing that needs up keeping is the space between the windows and the big mirrors by the smith machines. A lot of dust has accumulated which can not be good for inhalation. Great staff! read more

Have been Black Card member with this location as home since pandemic (with brief pause a few months ago). Was impressed with it and felt it compared favorably to many of the other locations I've been to (Phoenix, Chicago, Myrtle Beach, Charleston, New Jersey). Since I re-started my membership a few months ago, however, I've noticed a decided decline in all level of services at the gym. 1) It's frequently dirty; a few weeks ago there was mud all over the "stretching" side of the gym, and a few days after that there were dust bunnies floating all around the stretching area and treadmill area closest to that. During the pandemic I was pleasantly impressed to see employees cleaning unused machines, I'd see them doing rounds at least 1-2x during a workout (and I don't stay long!). I now rarely see anyone even walking the floors, let alone cleaning the space. 2) In the last few times I've used the gym there have been more and more un-replaced paper towel rolls and toilet paper (in the women's bathroom). Most cleaning stations now only have 1 side with paper towels; the other side has been removed or simply isn't refilled. Today I had to walk to 2 cleaning stations to find a paper towel roll that actually had paper towels on it. 3) Most egregious and the reason I'm writing this review today, when I walked in this afternoon the ENTIRE SPACE smelled like marijuana! Lol some people may think this is a bonus, I get it. I do not. Furthermore, I had to cut my workout short, the smell got stronger and stronger as I remained. By the time I got in my car and left, I was feeling pretty queasy. I have no judgements about people doing that on their own time, in their own spaces, but a gym?? Come on, people. No way the employees didn't know and nobody was out on the floor trying to do anything about it. The machines are still fine, I'm reasonably ok with the level of workout I can get here, but employees need to step up and take better care of the space. read more

Honestly the worst planet fitness I've been to. Not only is everything super dirty and gross but the sinks, showers and some equipment are repeatedly broken... and on top of that most of the staff are super rude (obviously not every person) and don't even know what they are doing with different types of memberships. Ive seen them personally have an attitude and talk down to not only me but other members. If I can will not even rate them 1 star. Gym is supposed to open at 7 am every weekend but I have never seen them opening on time. Two weekends back they opened at 8:45 am. Usually its 30-45 minutes lates for sure. This is constant behavior where they don't care to open the gym past opening time. The worst thing is that they delete all these ratings like this from google reviews every day. My reviews are deleted every time so I will be posting them everywhere else for transparency to future customers. This planet fitness location opened not too long ago. I have a membership at a different gym down the street, but I find myself coming to this location more and more. Somethings that I really like about this location is the space. TONS of space. My other gym has hardly any space and is often crowded during peak times. That makes doing things with a gym mat like pushups, situps, ab workouts, yoga, and other similar workouts very difficult. But not here! Plenty of room for all of that. As for cons... I can't really think of anything. Possibly more equipment? But that's with every gym I feel so that's not really a con. It would be a con if this location didn't have the basic ammenitites but they do. Also, I wish the lockers in the locker rooms had locks similar to the ones up front by the desk. I've seen some PF locations have them but this one doesn't. Slight inconvience, but nothing to serious. Another plus is that the equipment is usually clean and the staff does a really good job with keeping the place tidy. I've never looked at a machine and thought it was dirty. Some takeaways, Pros: Clean, spacious, never too crowded. Cons: None with the exception of the lockers not having dynamic locks. read more

I have been wanting to rejoin a gym for awhile now but wanted to choose wisely because I've done the overpriced gym thing before and you just end up paying way too much for features you never use, and go way too few times a month to justify the monthly costs. So I was definitely pumped when I heard that Planet Fitness was opening in the old Washington Sports Club location in Fairfax. I had never checked out a Planet Fitness before, but at $10 a month, I knew that they were going to be the high-value no-frills gym I was looking for. I don't need an Olympic-size pool, jacuzzi, steam shower, sauna, rock-climbing wall, or full-size basketball court. I just wanted a place where I could jump on a treadmill or hit the weights, and not feel guilty if I miss more than two days in a row because of the exorbitant monthly fees. The signup process was easy (online), and when the gym opened, I just walked in, got my keycard and got to working out. The only thing that gave me pause was the fact that I had to provide them with a checking account for them to withdraw the monthly fee. A little weird given that most places will let you charge a credit card. Oh, and you still have to provide a credit card as a backup, in case there's insufficient funds in your checking account. There's no other option really, but at $10 month, plus the one-time annual fee, I was willing to make that concession. The gym itself is pretty big, there are cardio machines for miles and there's a solid selection of weight machines and free weights. There are TVs that line a very long wall, overlooking the intersection of Rt. 29 and 50. If you don't need all those extras and are looking for a solid gym without all the unnecessary extras for a great price, this might be the one! read more

I joined yesterday, and changed my mind because i found a gym that's closer to where I live and has free weights. Thirty minutes after I signed on, I returned to see if I can cancel and get a refund and found that the entire staff is untrained to do any sort of refund and I would have to go to the manager. They were extremely apologetic, and were not sure how to do anything beyond working with potential new members! When I tried to ask for when the manager would be available, the staff tried to be as helpful as possible, but the times they gave demonstrated that no one actually knew his schedule. They told me to return at 6 am the next day, and when I did, he was not available, then they told me to return at 9 am, and when I did, they said he was not going to be there. I tried to see if I can cancel or work through a website or phone, and there's nothing available... I've learned that Planet Fitness has an AOL level scam going on, not letting anyone cancel unless its through some bureaucratic process that extends until you get charged next month. I wish I knew all this before trying to work with them! read more

For only $10 a month it's pretty good. They have sooo many treadmills though. Like probably 40. Even when it's busy those aren't all being used. Biggest problem I have is that they only have 4 smith machines (only space for squatting/benching type stuff available) and 3 stair masters. If there is more than one bar on the crowd meter then there won't be a smith machine available. But if they removed some unused cardio stuff they could fit more. Also it closes at 9pm some days which is like pretty early. But for $10 when other gyms charge $100 it's alright. Also just be cautious that there is an extra $40 annual charge. read more

I went to planet fitness today for a workout. On my way out of planet fitness, 10' away from the door, I took my mask off. The reason I took my mask off is because I was mid asthma attack not able to catch my breath. I told the manager this and told him I'm leaving now. He was not understanding at all of my medical condition, and gave me a LIFETIME BAN on planet fitness in Fairfax with NO WARNING. I called later to explain and apologize, but he would not lift my ban. Planet fitness management is extremely inhuman and I would sue if I had the funds. read more

I was hesitant to try out Planet Fitness, because I assumed that the cheap membership dues would equate to a subpar gym experience. I was wrong! The gym is spacious and incredibly clean and well ventilated. There are plenty of machines, and they are always in good working order. The hydro massage bed and chair are awesome and super easy to reserve. There is ample equipment and space to workout. I have never had to wait to use a machine. I'm sorry I didn't switch to Planet Fitness sooner! read more
