I was visiting Folsom and needed a gym fix. Planet Fitness offered me a day pass, no questions asked, after I was spurned by 24 Hour Fitness. The lady at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The facility proved clean, with minimal morning traffic. The equipment was well kept and in good repair. Thy offered an assortment of attachments for cables and miscellaneous fun extras like abwheels. I especially like that they are actually open 24 hours because hours can vary by location. read more

One of the overweight planet fitness trainers kicked me out of my spot I was working out in, on 2 separate occasions. When im there first, and just minding my business, its extremely rude to encroach on my area and then tell me to kick rocks. Im there to improve myself, not have a ego battle over whos spot this is with one of the overweight planet fitness employees, for a spot in an open public gym where everything is supposed to be accessible to its members. read more

I live in the Rosemont area, so the closest PF to me is on one on Bradshaw, which is where I go after work. However, I go out of my way to do my grocery shopping at the Winco in Folsom on the weekends, and I always come here beforehand. I've been to several PF gyms, and this one is definitely my favorite. It never seems to get too crowded in there, it's spacious, and it's clean. The guy who is usually there in the mornings (I'm not sure what his name is) is always really attentive and friendly. I can tell he likes being there and takes pride in what he does, and I like frequenting places that have employees like that. I cant really think of any reason to give this place anything less than five stars. Kuddos to the staff. read more

It's okay. It used to be great, but now it's extremely crowded, with barely any machines. The entire business model of PF is designed to make people who are serious about weight lifting go to other gyms but due to the economy we are in, it's not happening. More than HALF of the gym is full of cardio machines, but most people aren't even using them. Waste of space. read more

I was in the area for a Yelp event so I decided to drop into a gym in the area. This location is huge compared to my home Planet Fitness in West Sacramento. I was impressed by how clean it was and how many machines they had available. Parking was a breeze too as there was plenty of it and trees for shade also. The people working were nice and constantly walking around to clean up or check on members. Not sure if I'll be in the area anytime soon but it's great to know this location is an awesome option. read more

Ice gone to this location three of four times over the last couple years while traveling. I noticed that this Planet Fitness seemed to be meticulously cleaned with all of the cable attachments put back in their place and organized. All the patrons seemed to take notice and wiped down every piece of equipment every time. Or was almost odd, like the whole place suffered from OCD, but I was all for it. I talked to one of the employees and he explained that he and the other people who work there use it as their home gym and take a lot of pride on keeping it nice. I've been to a lot of Planet Fitness locations and this is definitely the most cared-for location I've noticed. Definitely worth going to of you're ever in the area. read more

Simply the best one out all the other locations, and I have been to all the surrounding ones. The staff is always attentive and friendly. The manager Aubree is on top of it and so commited, its no wonder it was voted best gym in Folsom. I think it should be best gym period. I've been a member of this gym for 3+ years. The first couple of years, I would have rated it a 4+ due to the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the gym and being able to access the equipment you wanted to use without a wait, or at peak times a short wait. In the past year, the change has been dramatic in that machines are frequently out of order, cleaning stations out of towels or broken, equipment not nearly as well kept as before, place is over packed most of the times to the point it's hard to get in a workout, the free weight section is severely overcrowded with members creating little barriers with benches making it hard to even walk through it, muscle heads with their headphones on leaving equipment sweaty, grunting, yelling and dropping dumbbell on the floor! Apparently the Lunk alarm is broken too because all this happens and the staff look the other way. The staff has turned over, which is normal, but the newer staff isn't nearly as friendly as before. Weekends I drive to Granite Bay or Rocklin to work out and find myself not going to the Folsom location as often to avoid the crowds and hassle of trying to get in a workout. I've stuck with PF as I travel and most out of state gyms do not have these issues. All in all, disappointing to see this once great Folsom location nose dive as it is/has. read more

They have classes from Monday to Friday are in 30 min sessions, which is perfect length. We love Lindsey (the class instructor) who is always cheerful and encouraging. She gives a happy vibe. Staff are friendly and helpful. The place is clean. I appreciate the hydro message a lot after workout. read more

Far and away the nicest staff at any gym I've ever lifted! Additionally, they work so hard to keep the place spotless. It's so clean! Planet Fitness in general has pretty unique rules regarding gym etiquette. It's not a fit for some. If you're cool with the rules, I could not recommend this place more! Also, I popped my pec benching with the smith machine and let out the loudest yelp of my life (not knowing what had happened); within two seconds, staff and members were helping me in whatever means possible. The lift was entirely my fault and the result was a bummer, but the support of staff and people in the gym was immense and kind. read more

I think this location is absolutely incredible. I've tried a couple of gyms in the area, and this one is the most cost-effective. You can get a $25/month all-inclusive subscription, or you can get a $10/month subscription that lets you use the machines only. The all-inclusive includes: HydroMassage machines, tanning, a Total Body Enhancement machine, group fitness training (when available), and more. There are many pros to this gym. It's clean, it's vast, and it has an assortment of machines. It has a specific area to do a 30-minute workout comprised of strength and cardio machines, which is AMAZING in a time crunch. There are a few cons, but nothing that I would say warrant less than a five-star review. First, at present, they don't have a trainer, so they can't offer the group training that comes included in the all-inclusive. Second, the machines are "cheaper" than other locations, but they still get the job done. Overall, this is a great gym. Would recommend folks to join; it's just $10! read more

I've been coming to this gym before work at around 4am and I'm pretty much the only few here. As I enter I'm always greeted by staff. Overall the facility is very clean and organized. The new Planet Fitness is open and I didn't necessarily want to let the cat out of the bag too soon because it becomes hard to workout when the gym gets too full. At first it was very empty, a dream come true. But it's gotten a lot busier lately, I'm sure that is great for the owners but if you don't like being crowded or waiting for machines, it's not ideal. I'm sure this will only get worse with time, for now it's tolerable. Let's face it, this region really needs more gyms and at a decent rate. Planet Fitness is the only really affordable option. They need to open one in El Dorado Hills. The place is very clean as it is brand new. The equipment here is a bit higher tech than some of the other planet fitnesses I've worked out at. Sometimes higher tech isn't necessarily better, though, and I must say this new equipment is designed for taller people. Some of the equipment is frankly too long for my size, for example the leg curl machine, my short legs have a hard time for the ankles to reach the bottom bar. My old Planet Fitness had the old equipment and I found it fit my body better and adjusted better for my height. I'm 5'2" for reference. The older equipment also had visual instructions, the new ones just have a QR code. I don't want to open menus on my phone during a workout. Everything is pretty good here, my suggestion would be to get some mats. I'm used to having accessible mats available to use for doing seated stretches and ab workouts. Unfortunately they don't have any mats out, and if they do, they are being used by trainers. I personally don't need a trainer, just a space to use (trainer and all his lil trainees take up a LOT of room) and a mat. I guess I could start bringing my own mat, but that's not very convenient to carry around. Like all gyms, there's always the gawkers who just don't know gym etiquette or frankly don't abide by it. You know, creepy men who stare at women doing squats, etc. wish there was a way to eliminate these folks altogether, so if you're a guy who loves staring women down during their workouts just know it's not socially acceptable behavior and women do not appreciate that type of attention. I had to remove a star for the lack of mats and oversized machines. If you're a tall person, I'm sure you won't be hindered, but petite women might not enjoy how some of the machines are not as ergonomic. read more

I've been trying to cancel my membership online for a week now, but I keep getting the same error message stating that I need to call my home club if said error persists. I call the Folsom location and get automatically routed to a voicemail box that is full. The automated system asks me to enter an extension after telling me that the voicemail box is full. I don't have an extension number and eventually the automated system hangs up on me. Pretty shady that the call doesn't automatically get routed to the people working the front desk. This goes against California's ARL, where business have to provide an online means of canceling their services. To me, it seems like this system doesn't work and it is funneling me into having to cancel in person. Pretty bogus business tactic. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would, but it won't let you get to this part without giving at least 1. I signed up at the end of 2022 but never stepped foot in the location. I'm saddened to say my mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I reached out to explain and they told me I had to come in to cancel. I explained the situation and was told there's no exceptions. So I did. I continued to get billed. I called back. They said a manager would get back to me. A manager called back said a duplicate was created in error and that it would be canceled and apologized. I thought it was canceled. Well I was wrong! I kept getting notices that my payment was due, then 10.00 taken out of my account. I call they say they don't show any account and that it was closed. Just today, I received a notice to update my payment. So I called. explain the situation AGAIN and she says there's nothing they can do because it shos I have a balance. (Are you kidding me? Lol) I explain again. She repeats herself And gets a manager on the phone. I explain to him, he then repeats the same thing. They can't do anything because there's a balance and I now in collections... and then says I need to sign a cancelation for the duplicate that I didn't know about lol. No one takes responsibility or accountability for the error but instead tells me I'm now in collections for a 10.00 balance and gives me their billing number. I call the billing department. They call the center. Speak to them for about 5 minutes. Billing gets back to me and says she is canceling the account but Robert the manager at the Folsom location is not willing to refund me the money they fraudlently stole from my account for an membership that was (to my knowledge) canceled almost a year ago but said in good business they will cancel my account! Someone made a mistake and kept billing me but they refused to do right and fix the error and refund what they took. So they expect me except fraud and move on ? I don't think so... It's not the amount it's the principle. I'm not going to eat what they fraudulently took from my account which I should have never been billed for. I'm suing for fraud!!! How can this franchise bill me for an account that was canceled and for a duplicate that THEY failed to cancel on their end? Either they do right, or I guess I'll just start thinking of names for my new gym! Is this how you guys do business? Has anyone else been deceived by them? This is not how you do business. I just got off the phone with the manager at their billing deartment which said I needed to contact the location and ask for are refund! Can you say lawsuit?! To be continued~ read more

I joined Planet Fitness when 24 hour changed their hours to no longer be open 24 hours a day. This location specifically is always super clean and equipment is always accessible and not overcrowded. I was motivated to write this review because as I worked out today staff was relocating treadmills to vacuum and mop underneath them - I've never seen that at any other gym. This location is by far the cleanest and newest. I was upset to see the low rating but through further inspection I saw it was based on the one and only review from a person who isn't even a member. This is a brand spanking new facility, they're even still installing new equipment. So for someone to give them such a terrible review I felt it my responsibility to give an honest review. Staff there is mostly friendly with the exception of one young girl that always has her phone out but she isn't rude and acknowledges everyone when they come in. The facilities are clean and the members here have the decency to wipe down every time they use equipment. The locker room is super clean and I appreciate them no longer using paper towels in the bathroom to save us some trees. I have been a member of Planet Fitness for about three years; a year ago, I moved to the Folsom area and joined this location. I liked it a lot since it was a new location. It was less crowded than my previous experiences; the equipment was clean and new. I liked it so much that I even convinced some friends to join. However, I am compelled to share a recent experience that has been quite disappointing. During my visit today, July 11th, 2024, around 10:00 am, I interacted with the manager, which left me quite upset. The manager approached me in an insulting way regarding the phone policy. I want to mention that I've been working out with a personal trainer through FaceTime for the past six months; I'm very aware of other people's privacy and to highlight, I'm not filming, and I'm also very aware of my surroundings to don't bother other members. As I was working out, she approached me and said that according to the gym policy, all phone calls must be at the lobby. I explained to her that more than a phone call, it was my way of working out with a personal trainer; she proceeded to say that no personal trainers outside of the gym are allowed, which didn't make any sense to me because I'm paying a monthly fee to access the equipment. I'm free to use any source to do my workouts; I said, OK, I might have to cancel my membership because if I'm not allowed to do this, I can't workout at this gym, and proceeded to turn off my phone and returned to my workout; less than a minute she came back and said that I had to leave because I wasn't following the "only phone calls at the lobby policy" I wasn't on a facetime call anymore, I wish the owner of this location can take a closer look to the staff and how the approach/ interact with their costumers. Overall, I consider everyone very friendly/ helpful, except this woman. As someone who values customer service, I found this behavior unprofessional and disheartening. I believe that a positive and respectful attitude from staff is essential for a welcoming gym environment. I canceled my membership immediately and will be charged for another month, but I don't want to return to this location again. read more

They wanted us to give all of our information just so we can have a walk through. We both thought that was a bit much. This gym is comfortable to work out in, all of the staff are friendly and helpful, and the other people there are focused on their own workout. It's awesome to be able to work out when I travel and at that level of membership the massage equipment gives me extra incentive to get the cardio I need. Cheap monthly gym with some nice features. I upgraded to the massage chairs, which is why is stick around. It is limited on weights and they have alarms if you make any noise while lifting. It would be nice if they got a second pec deck, always someone using that machine for long periods. I'd recommend this gym to anyone starting out or just getting fit, like me.
