Gym: pretty decent gym which I think would work for the majority of the population unless you want to go into body building. Cost: had a chance to come here as a guest so this visit was free for me however a quick peek at the company website would show that memberships can be a range from $15/month to $25/month I believe! Environment: Fairly clean, can be pretty busy depending on when you come in. They have a nice variety of machines to work with and a bunch of treadmills as well. They also have separate areas where you can do class or even video workouts if you follow video workouts Service: quick check in and if you want to buy a drink that they sell then the process is quick as well. I haven't tried the tanning bed or extra service they offer yet so I don't have much to say about those for now. Uniqueness: Nice gym af a price that's very reasonable - great way to start off a health goal or journey for the new year! Would recommend coming with a friend or two since working out with others can be more fun than working out alone. read more

I'm reviewing this place in case there's others like me who have Silver Sneakers and are looking for a gym I changed medical plans and now have Silver Sneakers, if you're a regular gym person by that I mean been going to gyms for decades this place is definitely not for you The equipment is dated, the place is dark and very basic but the most important thing to me is cleanliness and gym protocol Not once did I see any members wipe down their equipment after they finished Not once did I see anyone rerack their equipment The front desk was totally distracted by their phones I feel this place is more attuned to people just starting out and couldn't be less suited to anyone interested in a serious workout routine I'm not a weightlifting guy just an old man trying to stay above ground This place is not for me. This gym is absolutely disgusting and unprofessional. The facility is consistently dirty, including the bathrooms--toilets are often running, poorly maintained, and clearly not cleaned regularly. It's unacceptable for a place that claims to care about health and fitness. The staff are constantly on their phones, chatting or scrolling instead of actually doing their jobs. I couldn't even get a basic billing question answered because no one seemed interested in helping. Customer service is nonexistent. If you're looking for a clean gym with staff who are attentive and professional, this is not it. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Eww!!! The equipment was old. The locker room was dingy and not well laid out. The water fountain smelled funny.

Decided to try out planet fitness for my New Years resolution. After a couple weeks, I can believe how bad this place is! No one wipes their machines when they are done. People will take the elliptical right next to you, even if there are dozens of other free ones available. This is despite the "social fitness / distance" signs they have posted. The icing on the cake was the used band aid I found on the ground. Just what I want after a finish a machine, to think about how the person touching the machine before me had an open wound on their hand. Clean your gym up. read more

Planet Fitness Freehold should really do right by their members and extend their hours at this point. Even one extra hour by closing at 11 would be so helpful to people who work long hours and can't get to the gym until later. Any excuse about how "the contract says we can change hours at any time" is awful customer service. Planet fitness is known for no barriers, and closing at 10 is a big one. The economy is tough, but paying two workers for one extra hour a night can't be the make or break for this whole location. Expand your hours. Other locations have already. read more

It's seems like with the employees behind the front desk( and this is in every planet fitness) when you go to scan they have to tilt it and say your set, like if they didn't do that you wouldn't be scanned in. It seems like it's the height of their day. Summer is coming and I'm hoping that it's not going to be the nightmare that it was last summer. Ok so I decided I needed to get back to the gym recently and needed something cheap as possible, convenient to get to, and provide good equipment/service. A buddy of mine suggested Planet Fitness. I had my doubts because of the amazingly cheap price. 10 bucks with no commitment? What's the catch?! No catches, seriously there are no catches. Ok so that passed test one. Convenience? On route 9 close to me. That passed test two. Upon walking in, very simple layout, huge area of treadmills/elliptical/glider things and bikes .....huge area of lifting machines covering every muscle you could possibly want to work out/ large area of free weights and then two areas of "class" or structured workouts. (Haven't seen classes in action so can't comment on them but looked decent enough. Friendly staff. So that passed test three! Im in!! Extra credit for them, they provide multiple trash cans and on the trash cans are paper towels and a spray disinfectant bottle!!! That is awesome because my only other concern besides burning some fat at the gym is touching machines that have been used by other people. Now when I say there are no catches for ten bucks there really isn't but I do feel the need to mention that they offer two plans, one for tens bucks a month and one for twenty bucks a month. As per my 1000 word essay above, I chose the ten dollar plan so that gives me one location to go to only and access to the gym. For twenty dollars, you can go to any location, have usage of their tanning and massages. Half off their cooler drinks and some clubs have haircuts, hydro massage and more classes. Im not a part of the twenty club but I think that is a great price too. You can go to fitness sessions in the training areas according to their schedule for just the $10 membership There are nice reminders around the gym to not be a jerk and drop weights or grunt which is great because no one wants to deal with that at a gym. If you sign up for the ten dollars a month....let's break it down......if there are four weeks in a month and you decide to go twice a week for that month....you would pay 1.44 a visit. (They charge .70 for tax) where else can you go to a gym for 1.44???? So get up out of that recliner or sofa and go find a Planet Fitness near you!!!!! read more

This location is located within a business park. Never overly busy. Machines work and the facility is clean. Plenty of treadmills.

In the past this was always a great place to work out - it was clean & the staff was not only helpful - & also courteous. Lately the place has been going downhill fast. The toilet was out of order for 2 weeks - they cant keep a regular cleaning team - workers just sit behind the desk & look at their cell phone. never soad in bathrooms or paper towels. I have been a member since 2014 - but over the last 9-12 months with the new manager I have been very disappointed. First of all, the bathrooms are not very clean. There is stuff "growing" on the wall in the ladies bathroom stalls. The manager is always whipping down the machines "but never the bathrooms". Last night she was mopping the bathroom floor with dirty smelly water. She waters down the soap in the bathroom and the solutions in the bottles is basically water. She waters it down, It never smells clean even though she appears to always be wiping down the machines. Over the thanksgiving weekend, I was in Auburn NY and went 3 times to PF. When I went to use the spray bottle to clean off my machine, the solution in the bottle was actually "PINK" not clear. And it smelled "clean and fresh" you don't get that at PF Freehold THE SOLUTION IS CLEAR. It always smells musty WHEN YOU WALK IN THE DOOR. It never smells clean. Best gym for the money!!! If you are a road warrior like me, this is the gym for you!!! They have locations nationwide and its a big plus for a business traveler like me who needs to be at the gym 4-5 times a week. Where ever I go, the gyms are consistently clean, staff is accommodating and very helpful, and definitely motivating!!!! I've been to several gyms in the past and this is by far the BEST! Staff is always friendly and John the personal trainer is amazing! Always teaches us the proper way of exercising and challenges us every week. I'm way more comfortable being here than any other gym. Plus you can't beat the price!! read more

I've been going to the planet fitness in freehold for sometime now. There has been approximately 2 to 3 managers that I have seen since I've been there. Now we have a new manager and I can tell you that this gym is in a lot better shape. All the machines are cleaned 100%.At times I have addressed some problem with equipment and he has that problem immediately fixed asap.The locker room and bathroom are kept very clean at all times. Been at this freeehold Gym for years and watched the equipment deteriorate slowly. Pedals creek, out of order signs on many pieces of equipment. Spring is here and it's going to get busy. There's not enough working bikes to handle the spring rush. I asked the help a couple of times about this problem & they said they have passed the word along. Still no changes. Might have to go to "Jersey Strong" up the street. Same pricing special and bigger. The employees are very nice though. I'm afraid Their just rearranging chairs on sinking ship. read more

I moved over an hour away, call them to cancel, sent in a certified letter stating I wanted to process the cancel (like they told me) then called me a week later to tell me I owed a cancel fee.. no problem, NOW they want me to come in and pay it! If they had told me I owed a fee when I sent the first letter, I would have sent them the check the first time. NOW I will owe even more money since the letter I will be sending wont make it there before the next months membership is due. I go in the early mornings around 5- 6 a.m. It's empty and the staff and other members are very nice. I have been going around 7 a.m on Sat. And Sun. This past Sat. I had the unfortunate experience of meeting Robyn the manager. He walks around and tells people to be quiet. Maybe he should be putting out paper towels, checking toilet paper in the bathrooms and filling spray bottles. This is a gym not a library. Planet Fitness, Freehold, NJ (COMPLAINT) This is the first time I have ever given a review on any business. It's takes a lot to get me upset. They charged my account a late fee for every single month the card was declined. Instead of contacting me for a new card or even better yet putting my account in freeze status they continued to charge me late fees which is as much as the membership fee. This is a horrible way to do business. It's not even the money that I'm concerned with, it's the fact they failed to contact the customer to resolve any billing issues and continue to charge late fees. A business should treat their customer with respect no matter what, this is a total disregard to resolve the a matter and charge unnecessary late fees. I will never ever step foot in any Planet Fitness again. Since this incident I've noticed other negative reviews about this incident with other customers which validated my issue. Had to go in person to cancel. Front desk clerk "Drew" needs to work on his customer service skills. You don't argue with a customer who's unhappy. read more

I love this gyms whole message and the prices are awesome. 10 a month for a regular membership and only 29 to include tanning, massage beds, trainers etc. the only complaint I have is that one night my sister and I were going to use the tanning beds. The kid at the front desk warned us that the fans in the lay down beds were broken and it would be hot, but whatever that's fine. Half way through the 15 minutes I hear my sister scream and she texted me to get out ASAP. The glass in her tanning bad completely shattered above her. The only thing keeping it from hitting her was a layer of protective glass which at that point was almost completely melted and felt like wax. The girl that worked here walked in and said "do you think I can let the next person come in here?" We were blown away. The thing was seconds away from shattering completely. The boy that came in after her who is really nice and friendly said "wow it's so hot. You have some balls coming in these things." Not one apology, nothing. I couldn't believe it and she never complained about it. They fixed and I guess they're usable again but no one cared that glass could have rained down on her face in a hot tanning bed.
