what in the world is going on here? FWIW...I tried to comment about this location on the reddit sub/planet fitness -- and my comment was deleted. Methinks the mod for that sub is a Planet Fitness manager. So anyway, at this location (and specifically 10/2/2024 at 10:30 am), a trio of beauties waltzed in the front door, ignored the front desk (where you check in; duh) and went immediately to the right to the equipment. This happens every.single.day. How do I know? Because I see it happening every.single.day. The staff at the front desk is always conveniently looking down, or at their phone, or have their backs turned. Today, the young gentleman (not Shawn, the on-site manager) looked them squarely in the eyes...and ignored them. what is the deal? are they members, and just choose to ignore the rules? Or do they just sneak in to work out, knowing no on will stop them. Management, fix this! It happens regularly! #2 -- could you please enforce the "don't bring your baggage onto the floor with you" rule? There are literally piles of hand luggage clogging the ailses, and the staff does nothing. Too cheap to buy $3 lock. The staff never confronts a rules breaker EVER. Is this a mandate from corporate? Don't piss off the membership? Wait -- I thought this location was independently owned and operated. This fitness center is located right off Whitehorse Ave ( Hamilton Plaza ). If you walk though the gym you may spot multiple things that need to be worked on. The front of the gym seems fine but If you make your way to the back of the fitness center, especially the stretching area you will notices many issues: multiple broken machines, the back wall is not painted fully (what happened there, they just ran out of paint?) and trash everywhere. My session was interrupted by a fly flying around me hahahahahaha. I have been to many PF locations and I can tell one thing, management can do better job maintaining this place. I actually joined the club in Burlington because it is right down the road from where I live. Everything was great but I did not get a tour when I join, I had a new guy take care of me. So I went back to make sure I knew where everything was. I saw a friend and now find out others go there, but I did not like the locks on the lockers. And the club is too big and remote to just put your stuff in there and not lock it, so I later mentioned that in reply to a promotion. No response. So I ended up quiting before I even started. Average gym but you can see that it's kind of a starter gym because of all the kids there not really knowing what they're doing. I wish they had more cables they got a thousand treadmills and cardio equipment but they're and low on weights and have a very limited space for free weights/cables. The Location is good next to a Starbucks, a local grocery store an Ares Nutrition so you can get a nice iced coffee after or a nice protein shake after your workout and maybe even grab your groceries on the way home. Nothing big, just an average gym, what would make it better is putting a little more focus on getting more cables and weights/weight related machines. read more

I went to this gym for about 2 years before I moved out of state. This gym can get packed at times but there are a lot of machines so it isn't too bad compared to other locations. Machines are a lot newer in comparison to Ewing location. Bathrooms are nice and I like how they have changing rooms. Staff was always friendly and one worker actually complemented me on my weight loss which I thought was really nice and unexpected. Great gym for the cheap price. Also if you have been a member for a certain amount of time ( can't remember exact time ) you can permanently change locations if you have the basic membership for no charge . This Planet Fitness opened back in June 2015, which is located in the Hamilton Plaza (Kmart). This new gym is open 24/7 and is very spacious which has plenty of new gym equipment, cardio machines, weights, tanning (black card spa), room to move around, big overhead ceiling fans, and clean locker rooms with showers. There are plenty of treadmills and other cardio machines and overhead flatscreen TVs spread out across the long length of the center of the gym floor. There is a good variety of random upbeat music playing not too loud from the speakers. The stretching area (mats) is very spacious here, which is great! I worked out here recently on a very hot and sunny day (80s outside). Once inside the gym, I was greeted at the front desk as I checked in with my Black Card (scanned). The gym inside was nice and cool with the AC blasting and the big overhead ceiling fans over the treadmills doing a good job of circulating the cool air throughout the gym. I did my long power run over 10 miles in a very cool and refreshing environment. Most of the newer Planet Fitness gyms have the big overhead fans, but at several locations the fans are only circulating warm air. Of the many Planet Fitness locations I've visited on my travels, this location has the best HVAC system (big overhead ceiling fans working in unison with the overhead AC) in keeping the gym floor cool on a hot summer day. When I was done with my power run, I was of course sweating, but not drenched like at other PF locations. I will note that I am disappointed with my home PF gym (Manchester NH-Huse), which was recently remodeled, but the owners there decided not to install overhead fans and stick with portable fan stands near the cardio equipment. read more

I want to clarify before I begin this review, the staff is friendly and the gym is clean. I normally don't write bad reviews based on anything other then cleanliness and staff when it comes to gyms. However i would be remiss if I didn't give a proper review of other factors regarding this gym for people that are looking to get a workout. Now many of you know planet fitness is a judgment free zone, and is a good gym to come to for judgment free workouts a friendly experience and an enjoyable experience. That is not what you will get here, again this is not staff related, but related to the people that appear to frequent this gym (I have been here multiple times at different times it's all the same. Gym goers here are extremely disrespectful not only of the equipment, but other people. I have watch more than once people damn near push people out of the way to get their equipment, working out way to close to another person where the person is so uneasy they walk away and go to another spot, and people not cleaning equipment. This gym is also incredible packed both in the morning and at night. I am a morning gym goer but it's so crowded in the morning you don't get the comfort of a workout you get stressed cause everyone's on everything and people will damn near run across the gym to claim they had that piece of equipment you are using. Or they will ask how many sets and just sit there and stare at you intimidating you to get off so they can work out, they don't want to work in they want you off. Unfortunately I don't think there is anything staff can do about this because people are just a**holes and there's nothing staff or planet fitness can do about s***** human behavior. Every single time I'm here without fail the 30 minute fitness room is filled with people on cell phones or doing sets when you are supposed to be following the simple instructions of rotating around the equipment..I mean every single time I'm there. I stayed signed up to the Hamilton Planet Fitness all through the pandemic, thinking I was doing a good thing to help them out. Now that things are opening up, I called to cancel and was told I had to come into the facility to cancel. Who does that? I am just really upset that I cared enough to try and help them through the pandemic, only to find they don't care and want to make it as hard as possible to cancel your membership. UPDATE: Business who care about their customers changed everything to accommodate their customers in a pandemic. When your business model relies on making it hard for people to leave, I guess you don't want to change it. That fine, I just feel stupid thinking that I was helping you through the pandemic for not leaving and realizing you could care less. read more

Beware! Nice, clean, friendly gym in a dangerous, unmonitored location. Patrons' cars are frequently broken into at all times of the day/night. It doesn't matter if your door is locked and your car alarm engaged...smash and grabs occur regularly at this location. According to the regional manager, Alex Merlo, the installation of adequate, outside security cameras will neither alleviate nor deter parking lot crime at this location. Although Merlo informed me that there were four car break-ins here in one day alone, nothing has been done to improve security. Furthermore, everyone inside the gym is oblivious to the criminal activity outside the gym because management has not taken any action to raise client awareness. In one recent week, three members of Planet Fitness, Hamilton, NJ were victims of smash and grabs, two in broad daylight...if not for the pile of broken glass still glistening in the parking lot, one might never know just how dangerous this parking lot is. Really, who would knowingly risk his/her own personal safety or give a penny of his/her money to a gym that cares nothing about the security of their paying customers? If management can post signs advising women to "please dispose of your feminine products in the waste bin" in our restroom stalls, then surely they can post notices warning women about the frequent car break-ins at this location. Never before nor any where else have I observed such a blatant and conscious disregard for client safety. It's an absolute no-brainer...stay away from Planet Fitness, Hamilton NJ. I had another bad experience yesterday at the Hamilton Planet Fitness and what's worse is that I believe a manager was involved this time. No wonder some staff have poor attitudes and deliver poor customer service because they're following the example of the management. I was upgrading to a black card. The guy helping me was having trouble putting it through so the manager came to help. We got to the point of payment, I had my debit card out, I handed it to him he said I swipe it. The manager says after that "do you have your card?" We just had this exchange about the debit card so I thought he was referring to my membership card. I explained that I am having work done on my car and it's attached to my keys not with me. He looked at me said "no" and rolled his eyes at me and then I said "you mean a credit card?" at that time he explained the backup card I'd given years ago when I signed up expired and I needed a new one on file. He should have explained that first so I was clear about what he was talking about and it would have avoided the confusion, instead of doing his job properly he copped an attitude with me and rolled his eyes at me. It shows the overall attitude towards customers. I was very close to not upgrading but cancelling. Then he walked away, the first guy was helping me and I said to him to make sure the payment is coming from my debit and not my credit card and got the same attitude and another eye roll. I like the planet fitness at this particular location the most out of all the locations I've been too. Not too crowded, most of the time. I usually try to avoid going between 4pm-7pm because there's a heavier volume of people during those times. Planet Fitness is truly one of the worst companies I've dealt with. The customer service at the management level is horrible. If you're a current member trying to cancel or someone considering joining, you should read this. I've been a member of this Planet Fitness since 2015, but I decided to cancel my gym membership in November of 2020 after not going for months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I called and they told me that I'd either have to come in person or send a certified letter so I decided to go in person. I went in and spoke to a woman at the front desk. She cancelled my membership and had me sign the credit card terminal. She told me that I would still be charged for that month since it was the middle of the month. I said okay, thanked her and left. Fast forward to the beginning of February 2021, I noticed a planet fitness charge of $30.99. It made me look back into my account and I realized that I had been getting charge $10.66 monthly since "cancelling" in November. I immediately called the Hamilton Planet Fitness to try to rectify the situation. I spoke to a female staff member who told me that my membership hadn't been canceled as I thought. She told me that the manager was not in and that I would have to speak to him about fixing the situation. Since then I tried calling the Planet Fitness asking to speak to a manager several times. I also left messages with staff however, the manager, Zack never returned my calls. On February 22nd after almost a month of trying, I finally got hold of Steven, the regional manger. Steven essentially told me that since I had no record of the cancellation (I didn't receive the cancellation email) and I didn't know which staff member I spoke to, that there was nothing he could do. Since I went in person to cancel, I asked them to check the cameras, but after checking he told me that they only hold on to footage for 90 days so they wouldn't be able to verify if I came in. This despite me telling them that I came in and them having a record of someone checking my account in November. Steven also told me that there were no female employees scheduled to work at the times they had records of me checking in. He implied that I was lying about the entire thing although it was obvious that a simple mistake had been made by one of the staff and that a manager had not returned my calls. After all of this he told me that all he could do was "courtesy" cancel my membership over the phone and give me a refund for the last $10.66 monthly fee in February. I couldn't even get the $30.99 refunded because he said it was "passed the processing date". Mind you I had been trying to cancel since the charge hit my account, but I was never able to reach a manager. I was okay with the December and January monthly fees because it was my bad for not noticing it. I'm still entitled to that refund because I did cancel, but I can deal with it. But refusing to refund me for the $30.99 annual fee was just messed up. All in all they stole money from me because they made a mistake and I just couldn't prove it. All of this after I was a paying customer for over 5 years. Throughout this entire process I also contacted the Planet Fitness corporate offices but they told me that each Planet Fitness is independently owned so they have limited access to customer information. I also ended up contacting my bank to stop any payments to Planet Fitness because it was taking me so long to reach a manager and I didn't want to risk being charged again. The funny thing is that if I didn't experience these issues with them then I might have considered rejoining a planet fitness in the future when COVID was more contained. But after this experience, that will never happen, and I recommend that other people stay away and find a gym with better business practices. Based on my experience with them, it seems like it's a part of their business model to extract extra money from their customers. If you are a current member and you're canceling or doing anything, make sure you keep a record of everything. Including the name of the staff person you spoke to and the time and date you went in, and make sure you get a print out and an email of the cancellation document. Don't just assume that it's taken care of. They finally cancelled my membership today and I received an email. I'm still waiting for the $10.66 refund they said they'd give. And I'm hoping they'll come to their senses and refund me the additional $52.31 that I'm owed. It's not a lot of money but it just irks me when companies take advantage of their customers. And in the middle of a pandemic. It's disgusting. *Reply* There were no overdue balances. Your staff made a mistake, failed to cancel my membership and continued to charge me through automatic debits beyond the date of cancellation. You overcharged me. I loved this gym until I moved and had to cancel my membership, everything was fine until a team member didn't cancel my membership but instead signed me up for the $10 membership I was told I would be refunded, however it seems as if they upgraded my membership to the $25 AFTER I SAID MULTIPLE TIMES I MOVED AND IM CANCELLING. I've now been charged over $100 from a gym membership that I cancelled months ago. I don't write bad reviews but considering no one has helped me and no one seems to want to. If I could do less stars I would. This is by far the absolute worst jam I have ever been to in my life. All of the staff have an absolutely absurd attitude. They are belittling rude and quite frankly disgusting. On every single occasion that I have gone here I have been treated poorly and made to feel very uncomfortable. I am not sure if it is just a culture of this workplace for it to be acceptable to be bullies towards gay people or if it is towards everyone or What but I am going to call corporate and try to get a refund and discontinue my membership. I have never felt the way that those people make me feel every time I go there. It is to the point where I do not even want to go there. If there is any other planet fitness near you I would go there. I am so grateful the gyms are back open. Would've given 4 or 5 stars but way too many people sitting on their cell phones, on the machines, wasting so much time while others could be using it. Proper amount of rest time between reps is 45s - 2min, not 20 minutes, especially when there's limited machines to use. People are starting to use the machines with signs on them and I don't blame em. Who wants to wait for some inconsiderate a**hole to be done on their phone. Also, my nephew's clean up much better than most of the members. When you're done using free weights, put em back. Don't leave them all over the gym, searching for them is a nuisance. Usually there's 2 or 3 kids working at night, can one of them possibly make rounds to help correct this? I love getting out to the gym but the more and more this goes on, I might as well just workout at home. One other thing.......how come there's never or hardly any sports ever on? Let me start by saying EVERYBODY at this location is just AWSOME. Super friendly and helpful. My trainer's Mr. Brenden where do I start, Brenden knows all the machine and I'm getting exactly what I'm expecting in my workout with him. I come on my break and the min I will through those doors my trainer is standing and waiting for me. He makes me feel important and motivates me. He's very much aware that I need to come and leave right away. And OMG 45 min with him is the best. Day 3 and feeling great and looking forward to an amazing result. Catie a csr at this gym always smiling and great energy took time to explain the standing tanning bed. Nate is another csr very cool, friendly man, always greets me and makes me feel at home. There's other csr's which I do not have the name's. I'll be back very soon and will be rating again. Oh and the manager Applewhite very friendly nice man. Janitor man does a great job cleaning. really bad experience during peak hour, 5-7 p.m., week night. never a manager in sight, just two overwhelmed and clueless women at the front desk who would never dream of doing a walk around to see an awful lot of machines taken up with people texting, making an actual call, and my favorite -- the guy on a popular strength machine watching the news on his phone. and of course, nothing changes in the 30 minute circuit room, no matter how many times you call corporate, because staff are fearful of the low lifes who inhabit that space -- as are we, paying members, who would love to get in our 30 minute circuit training, but never can because of people who 1. don't understand that it's a circuit and you're supposed to change machines with the lights 2. just pop into the room cut into the circuit in front of people and do their own thing 3. people who camp out on a machine on their phones 4. people who don't speak english and couldn't read the posted rules to save their lives. oh, the woman i complained to tonight, 6 p.m., March 5? not helpful at all, and had the gall to call ME rude. wow read more

I was excited about this location because it's so much closer to my home than the planet fitness that I previously had to commute to in Ewing. The facilities are sufficient but the staff don't do much work. They usually congregate next to the desk and chat and joke around all while the place is in serious need of cleaning. Both locker rooms smell like mildew and there is paper towels and candy wrappers all over the floor. The Ewing planet fitness might have been farther but it was always clean. Every hour someone makes the rounds to wipe things down and clean. But the hamilton location doesn't have the same work ethic. I go consecutive nights and things like pee on the toilets and trash on the floor makes me want to run home rather than run on the treadmill or work out here. read more

I like this gym, there are plenty of cardio and weight machines, there are free weights, ab machines, an ab training section, it has tv's and all the cardio machines have a headphone jack. And it is open 24 hours which is very convenient. I only went there in the evening one time and had a bad experience. Since then I have stuck to early morning and have been happy with the atmosphere then. The girl at the front desk early in the morning is very pleasant too. Would love it if they had kettle bells and a bosu ball. But you can't have everything! read more

I give Planet Fitness mixed reviews. On the plus side: 1. It has a vast array of new equipment. 2. Lots of cute girls. 3. 20 televisions which you could watch with a your own headphones while exercising. 4. A semi-helpful front desk. 5. Free Tootsie Rolls for everyone; free pizza on Mondays (if you get there on time). 6. The place is almost always open and it is rarely crowded (except on Mondays) On the minus side: 1. It has no trainers, despite promises to hires some. 2. The men's room is generally a disaster area -- no paper towels (bring your own); the two stalls often run out of toilet paper; some toilets get stuffed up for days, leaving only one toilet working; the room is rarely cleaned. There are no trash cans in the men's room, so some people sometimes leave their dirt on the sink or floor. 3. The parking lot tends to be always full, even though the gym isn't full. 4. Watch how you walk in the parking lot; there always seems to be crazies speeding through, disregarding people waling to and from the gym. I'm not sure if I'm going to renew my membership. I have had the black card membership since day 1 and have been rather disheartened at the "abuse" of non-black card members regularly taking advantage of same. If it was possible to rate this location at zero stars, I would. The "Regional Manager" Alex is rude and unprofessional to gym members. He is condescending and clearly not very experienced in customer service. There are many gyms in this area to choose from. As a patron of Planet Fitness for several years, I will be taking my business elsewhere if corporate does not address this management issue. I overheard him cursing and reprimanding an employee on one occasion at the gym and on another occasion he would not permit my guest to enter because he did not have ID despite that my guest (younger brother) has been accompanying me to this particular gym for months and other locations for about two years. Instead of searching by phone number (as normally done) he became nasty and rude. Another patron approached me outside and explained that she has seen him in similar situations and encouraged me to call corporate to have the matter addressed. She was correct and I hope my complaint will encourage the franchise owners to send Alex to some type of professional development training or find a gym manager who is more experienced in customer service. Overall, the gym is clean and tidy but so are many other gyms in the area. I am awaiting a call back from the management team so they can address this issue. If an appropriate response does not happen, I will be taking my business to Retro Fitness, Gold's, or any of the local iron-press shops to meet my fitness needs! read more

I called last night to check on the status of my and my husband's cancellation requests. The associate I initially spoke with said the accounts were still active, despite having mailed in a cancellation letter before Thanksgiving. I was placed on hold and the manager, Jackie, picked up. I explained the situation again and she said she looked through the files and did not find our letters. She asked if they were sent via certified mail and I told her no. She said since they weren't sent certified mail, she has no way to track and prove that they got to the gym. Seriously? I have to send a cancellation letter for a $10/month gym membership via certified mail? That just seems extremely ridiculous, especially since these memberships are month to month. In my letter, I requested my husband's account to be canceled by 12/16/15 so I asked Jackie what she could do to ensure we wouldn't be charged for December's payment since I did my part and sent the letter to cancel. She said there was nothing she could do aside from coming into the gym to cancel in person. She was rude and unwilling to work with me AT ALL. She also didn't seem to care that we even wanted to cancel the memberships in the first place. The customer service I received on the phone was so poor and I am very glad to be cancelling this membership. My experience last night proves the saying "you get what you pay for" is so true. read more
