I enjoy attending this Planet Fitness location. The gym is always clean and there are plenty of machines and weights to choose from.

I was in the Kankakee/Bourbonnais area today and wanted to get in a quick workout before I went into work. There was plenty of parking outside. Once inside I noticed there was a nice amount of open machines and equipment. I'll return if I'm in the area with a little extra time on my hands for a quick workout. read more

This establishment is insane with the disrespect and disregard for their customers. Obviously people go to this gym because of the price and flexibility in the hours. I understand there needs to be time to clean and disinfect, so I could understand closing at 7pm on weekends. However the establishment is supposed to be back open at 12am on Monday morning. I get here and I can see the worker inside and he can clearly see me and hear me knocking at the window and doesn't even acknowledge that I am there. All you have to do is simply say I'm not done cleaning or come back in an hour or so. But to blatantly look me in the face and stand at the front desk doing absolutely nothing is INSANE to me! And planet fitness you do NOT have to respond to this review with any BS excuses. Yall have had bad reviews for years now and yet you still haven't done anything to help the patrons who are paying money to go to this unprofessional establishment. Please don't waste your time trying this place. Go to Fitness Premier. They will overcharge you and double bill you. There is an annual charge on top of your membership of $40. Good luck trying to cancel the membership. read more

First started going to PF years ago but now due to COVID the rules are constantly changing. They even force vaccinated people to mask up and stay 6ft apart. What's the point of being vaccinated if you still have to wear a mask in there. My Body My Choice. read more

i've been a planet fitness member for 5 years and this gym is closed at 7 pm, on multiple occasions i arrived at 6 pm and the doors were locked). this has been going on for 2+ years and i feel i am being cheated on my membership due to bad management. I originally chose planet fitness compared to surrounding competitive gyms due to the 24 hour availability. however like most people I work 5-6 days a week and the weekends and evenings are the only time I can go to the gym. If you read the complaints on google for the Kankakee, IL location you will see many people have this issue. despite 1+ years of active members complaining, management has replied to people saying they are working on the issue (comments from 1-2 years ago) and the hours have not changed, in fact they have shortened further. at one point they were closed at 9 pm and now its 7 pm on saturdays and sundays. this is concerning as well as this displays false advertisement as my membership contract as well as the current window display say "24 hours" read more

The lockers are filthy and are never washed on the inside. Bits of trash and\or shoe scum line every unit. I tested my theory and observed the same crumpled napkin inside the same locker for at least 2 weeks, until I finally removed it myself. Every so often they mop the floors in the locker room, but that's it. The staff are always on their phones. In February 2019 alone, there have been AT LEAST 3 thefts (that I know of) before Valentine's Day. Two thefts involved the victims' car being robbed, and my locker had the lock removed and valuables stolen. The manager is cooperating with police but won't tell me if they spotted the thief on camera, entering and exiting the locker room. P.S. The manager let it slip that they have NO CAMERAS in the parking lot. REALLY?!?! read more

I was visiting the area and had a few hours to kill. Walked in looking for a 1 day pass. The counter clerk gave me one of her guest passes. Too nice/ too cool / very AWSOME. This facility was very clean. The locker rooms were comfortable and nicely appointed, loved the TV on sports center. The shower water pressure was fantastic. Bring your own soap and towels. The machines were plentiful and enough, so even busy never had a wait. Everyone was wiping machines down after use. The theme of acceptance was evident throughout gym. Also all equipment is "branded" for the facility. Fantastic place. Fantastic equipment. Had a great workout. If I lived close by..... I'd be a regular member. read more

When I first started going to Planet Fitness when they opened in 2013 I rather enjoyed the gym. 24 hour access for $10 plus an insane amount of workout equipment is at your disposal. That all changed a few days ago. I usually get to the gym between 2-2:30 in the morning, very few people are there if any so I have the run of the place. The other day I get there and the employees who are supposed to greet you when you come in are nowhere to be found, I assume they are cleaning so I think nothing of it. Put my stuff in a locker and go hit the weights. Almost an hour later I go to change and discover that all my personal belongings are gone. Turns out one of the workers CUT my lock because she did not realize I was there. While she did replace the lock I felt compelled to contact the owner and the corporate office because of hr extreme rude attitude towards me, going so far as to threaten my membership. After contacting the owner he decided that it would be easier to just terminate my membership instead of offering to make amends for the ignorant treatment I received. So do not expect to be treated with anything that even resembles respect from the employees. read more

Gym is fine and clean but the younger girl workers give dirty looks at me and my friend. My friend has a membership and I'm her guest they don't treat guest well at all. Guest most likely will get a membership but when you are treated poorly it doesn't make you want to get a membership read more

Great friendly staff, clean locker rooms and great working equipment. Had a membership here before moving and Whenever in town visiting family/ friends planet fitness is always a great gym to get a good workout in while in town. read more

I was just let go as an employee, due to having to leave for an emergency. So im gonna spill the beans. Management is terrible, don't count on them for anything. They arent in the gym half the time. The only people that know anything about working there are the ones whove already been fired. We had 4 people on the schedule for a shift that needed 2 maybe 3 at most, and they apparently didnt like that i had an emergency at home so i am now gone. That being said, everyones on our phones because were expected to stay at the front desk or clean, we cant clean if we have to many people in the gym. Just on a side note, our best employee, a former key holder and the closest thing to an overnight manager, was fired because he did a few sets between cleaning. He was supposed to train the new hires. And they fired him. None of us knew what anything was because we werent told. Oh, and dont sign up if you want any kind of consistancy, the owners changed the price about 3 times a week minimum and tell us not to say anything. read more

Overcrowded. Told that with the number of members they have, they can't possibly contact members for ANYTHING. I quit going over a year ago. Apparently when I joined, I joined using my debit card. When the card expired, they just kept accumulating a balance due. I was naive to think that since I hadn't been there for so long, they had just suspended my account. When I called, I was told I would have to pay at least 50%, $80, to be able to start using the facility again. No other option, they were doing me a favor, just requiring $80. Why would I pay $80 for, basically, nothing. If I wanted to sign back up, sign another contract, I would still have to pay the $80 plus a new registration, plus the monthly fee. read more

Great facility, affordable price, however. It's 2018 and the only way you can cancel your membership is appearing in person or MAILING them through snail mail. Get with the times, Planet Fitness. It is an inconvenience. Also, I wasn't able to cancel my membership because I was out of town and since there was no way for me to cancel quickly enough they charged me 40 dollars for an annual fee. When I asked if I could get my refund if I can somehow get back to town right away, they told me no. This company sucks. read more

Just joined and went for the first time. I will say they pack a lot of punch into a little location. The only thing that stops me from five stars is there really needs to be fold down shelves or some kind of anything in the shower stalls besides the tiny corner soap holder. The tiny holder doesn't come close to holding my travel size shampoo/conditioner/wash and there is nowhere to put the sweaty clothes or new clothes except on a soaking wet floor. read more

Updated Rating: I had multiple difficulties in trying to close out my membership with this Planet Fitness since I moved to South Carolina. After 7 calls and 2 months, the manager finally called me back and let me know that she was taking care of it. Minus this frustration, this Planet Fitness is always clean and I have never had to wait on a machine, I would definitely recommend checking it out. read more

Large space and never too crowded. Has everything I need to get the job done and it's the cheapest in the area. Easy decision.

Really nice facilities and the owners keep it clean and looking good. However the equipment is a bit limited as far as the free weights go and the friendliness of the staff has dipped, probably due to the low wages they are paid. There is also a 'no bullying policy' and an anti, what they call 'lunks', policy which is basically a nice way of saying 'd-bag', the type of guy grunting and groaning while wearing a cut off shirt to call attention to themselves. This would be great except for the fact that the biggest 'd-bags' in the place actually work there. They definitely need to hire some new people, more like the ones who were employed there when the place opened. read more
