It had been a while since I had been to this location and I wanted to see how much it had changed. I decided to switch it up and come. I did my usual self check in at the desk then headed to the treadmill. After warming up I went to the weights area. The main thing I noticed that the place appeared cleaner than I remembered. After finishing my workout I realized that the equipment while functional could use some updating. There's some equipment I've seen at other locations that this one doesn't have. I have been using all my perks lately so I went to request the massage chair and even that needed an upgrade. It felt ok but I am now used to the ones that envelope your body. I will say that the knead on this one was good for my back but that was it. It'll probably be a while before I come here again but it satisfied my curiosity. read more

Went last night for a quick workout in the evening. I arrived around 8:45 and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too busy inside. I only had to wait for one machine which is a huge bonus. For the most part, the gym was clean and tidy. Slightly disappointed that there aren't many stair master machines and with that, one of the few they did have was damaged. With two rows of treadmills and another of bikes all nearly empty, I'd recommend trading out a few of those machines for additional stair masters. read more

I seriously love this gym. For many years, I was a member of YouFit across the street. But after getting screwed over there, I switched to Planet Fitness, and the difference is like night and day. I only regret not making the switch sooner. First of all, this place is SO clean. It doesn't smell, and it's nice and cold inside (the other gym had AC issues at times and it always had a terrible body odor smell in there -- I'm going to guess the two are probably related). All of the equipment looks brand new, and I have yet to see a broken down machine here. The staff has always been super friendly (another big difference from across the street), and they even have wifi and FREE lockers for you to use (where you set the code). They have free group training during the day, although my work schedule means I haven't ever been able to take advantage of it. There's also a water fountain that has a separate part for you to fill up your own bottle. Oh, and it's open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with the only exceptions being some holidays -- unlike YouFit. Their black card is the exact same price as YouFit's lime card, and the benefits are largely the same as well. You can bring a guest for free, you can use any other Planet Fitness location, and you get 50% off any of the cooler drinks. Personally, my favorite part here is the "black card spa." Yes, it requires having the more expensive membership, but it's so worth it. The spa is a secluded, quiet area behind a set of doors, which has 4 hydromassage beds, 2 massage chairs, tanning booths and some their "Total Body Enhancement" machines. I've been able to convince myself to come to the gym far more frequently by working out and then rewarding myself with a massage at the end. Turns out that's a great motivating factor ;) Sadly I had to cancel my membership today since I'm moving in a few weeks to a new city a couple of hours away, where my apartment has its own gym. But once I look into buying a new house up there, proximity to a Planet Fitness in that area will be one of my deciding factors -- that's how much I love this place! read more

Get what you pay for? They say. Not a clean gym when comparing to the competitors. However, this is a common problem in all gyms. The wage they pay the cleaning staff, well, what can you expect. Luckily, I come covered from head to toe so as not to come in direct contact with anything, do my business and leave. The other day there was a guy in the locker room (I cannot leave without washing my hands) bathroom waiting inside the handicap stall for some action. When he heard me walking toward the urinal he walked out and stared me down to see if I went for the bait. Huge turnoff. read more

i started this gym a few days ago and from day 1 there was this Karen who sits in the locker room and stares at me and made a complain to the front desk about me saying that I'm harassing her and making her uncomfortable when she keeps coming up to me in between my workouts and bothers me. I've never spoken to this woman before and to be quite honest, have been doing my utter best to keep my distance from her but she keeps coming up to me to tell me that I'm harassing her and m**dering her... she is dillusional and I will never set foot here again. I've made my complaint to front desk about her weird behavior and they didn't do anything about it. Warning: she usually wears grey and doesn't actually workout. She just takes up space in the locker room organizing her belongings. If you see her, try your best to avoid her. read more

I was going to a hit private gym and unfortunately financially its too mucb at the moment, so beinf that i learned many different routines i can say im confident enough to go myself to planet and do my own workouts. I use planet fitness mostly for tanning and the hydro massage beds. I was there this morning at 7:00 a.m, and was greeted by Jerson. If you had 10 Jersons you would be that much more ahead of the game! What a great employee!! The tanning bed was already in use so Jerson offered me some time on the hydro bed while I waited. When I finished my massage session I entered the tanning room to see that the previous member had left it still hot with numerous puddles of sweat still lying on the surface of the bed!!! GROSS!! I was pretty disgusted!!! Jerson quickly offered to clean it for me! REALLY? I truly do not know of any other Planet Fitness employees that would have gone out of their way and OFFER to do that! I used to love training at this gym. Unfortunately, after today I will not be going back. The gym was practically empty & I was in a section all by myself when I was approached by an employee who told me I was in violation of one of their policies by using my own resistance band. I was told I could use one of theirs, but was not allowed to use my own. That is absurd & frankly disgusting. When I spoke to the manager about it, she had a difficult time explaining how I am allowed to supply my own squat pad, my own gloves, but not my own resitance band. What is next? I'll have to borrow their shoes or towels? No thank you! The enforcement was handled poorly & this policy is a joke. read more

Very clean, spacious and aesthetically. That's the first impression that I get when I walk in here. I just love the colors PF uses in general, purple and yellow. It gives it its own unique flare. I come here during the day between 1-3, and no one is here, it's great! Easy to get on machines and not noisy. The equipment is all brand new, the signage is very good, highlighting the specific muscles each machine works out. The layout of the different zones is a nice touch as well: stretching and abs, 30 min workout, cardio. It's cheap, easy to bring guests, no one is hassling you about personal training, locker rooms smell and look clean, it's just all good. No complaints. Simple. read more

He was friendly, professional, and made it hassle/haggle/harassment free for me to end my membership (which is honestly not what I expected lol so I had mentally prepared for this). I have been going to this gym for 3 years and it has been one of the nicest gyms in the area regardless of membership fees. It's always a pleasure being greeted by your friendly and energetic staff. Sabrina, Marissa, Maria, and Oliver never hesitate to make sure I will always feel welcome and assist with any questions I may have. I have really noticed an increase in the attention to detail in the bathroom and changing area ever since Sabrina has taken over as team lead. It seems like every time I am at the gym I see Maria or another staff member constantly cleaning either the gym equipment and floors. Marissa's knowledge and positive personality is always a delight when she is training you. I dread going to any other gym but the planet fitness in Margate is always a memorable experience and I am truly a raving fan. Keep up the good work! read more

My wife and I went in to work out today. The place was nearly empty. 10 minutes into her work out with resistance bands the staff informed her she was not allowed to use her own bands. I had a training session with a rather large woman at 8:30 one morning. It was just me and another woman. She was going to show us the equipment. She sat on the first piece and when she got up there was a big wet mark from her and I wasn't going to sit on it. The other woman did and it went on like that on each piece of equipment until the other woman just left. It was weird - almost as if she was daring us. Wouldn't you think that she would show us that the proper thing to do is wipe up your own sweat? Disgusting. I have not been able to go back there and I'm just going to cancel the membership. At the time I did go back and complain to management and they were very ho hum about it. read more

I cancelled my LA Fitness membership and was looking for a new gym, I was treated so poorly at LA Fitness that I almost gave up on my fitness goals. It was uncomfortable to even try to get through a workout. Very greatful for Planet Fitness! I'm still on track, and feel most welcomed here! Very clean facility, amazing customer service, no harassment to sign up for overpriced training (in fact they offer it with a basic membership), and you honestly feel very comfortable here as an overweight person looking to achieve goals. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone that absolutely hates going to the gym because they feel like they don't belong... and also to anyone who doesn't like being harassed during their workouts to sign up their programs and just wants to work out in a very clean facility with a hospitable staff!
