I got on La fitness website to purchase a 3-daypass. Day 1- I walk in to show my email confirming my pass, and the front desk lady is quite confused. Eventually she directs me to a cubby desk where I finish my pass sign up. They take my id, snap a photo of me and have me do a signature. When I walked into the gym i wasn't even slightly impressed. It genuinely felt like I backtracked to 1987 and I'm walking in a yoga bar. The music was disturbingly annoying. I typically hear at least one good song in the rotation at gyms, it was quite the lengthy stay. Day 2- As soon as my feet hit the door the front desk was on and ready to tell me how I needed to take a photo and finish my account... To which I said "No, I did that already yesterday" She briefly paused before saying she remembered and was sorry. Day 3- I actually didn't bother to use my 3rd day. This is my go to fitness place close to my house. It's very large and has pretty much everything you need. It has a swimming pool, basketball courts paddle ball courts. all the treadmills and cycles, free weights and all the different equipment to get you in tip top shape. it's open from early morning until late at night so you can always find a time to get in there. read more

Very spacious and clean gym, my first time at this location and I was blown away. Lots of cardio equipment on the 1st floor, move on upstairs to the free weights and strength training machines. Lots of space and machines available. One of the cleanest gyms I've been to, lots of cleaning staff available and working to ensure the machines are sterile. Will be back again soon. read more

Been an on-and-off LA Fitness member for over a year now, and after reading literally thousands of reviews across Yelp, Google, Reddit, and everywhere else, here's the honest, no-BS summary that matches what pretty much everyone says: It's the ultimate "you get what you pay for" gym. For the price (still one of the cheapest national chains with month-to-month options), you get a ridiculous amount of locations, decent equipment variety, a pool, basketball courts, and free group classes. If you just want to show up, lift, do some cardio, maybe swim or shoot hoops, and leave, it does the job better than most places in this price range. Off-peak hours can actually feel halfway decent plenty of machines, shorter waits, and the vibe is tolerable. Now the part literally everyone complains about (because it's true): Cleanliness is a coin flip. Some days it's fine, other days the locker room smells like regret and the equipment is sticky. Stuff breaks and stays broken forever saunas, hot tubs, half the cable machines, you name it. Towel service? Good luck. Bring your own or prepare to air-dry. Staff ranges from genuinely cool humans to people who act like you're bothering them by existing. Canceling or fixing billing issues? People write horror stories that could be Netflix documentaries. Read the contract twice and screenshot everything. Bottom line: If your expectations are "affordable big-box gym with tons of locations and I'm not a neat freak," you'll be perfectly happy and probably give it 4 stars. If you want spotless, high-end, white-glove service, you're shopping in the wrong aisle go pay triple for Equinox or Lifetime. For the money, it's still a solid 3 stars. Really regret signing up fo rthis place. 1) It's not clean. Nobody cleans the equipment properly. The carpet feels sticky. 2) The tools for patrons to clean up after using a machine or bench are just not available. I've worked at gyms before. I'm a gym rat. I also sweat a lot. When I finish an exercise, I expect to be able to find paper towels and cleaning supplies within 100 feet of the equipment I just used so that I can clean it. At this gym, I have never been able to find what I need to clean the equipment I've used. 3) Competely disorganized free weights. Nobody reracks here. Not the patrons, not the trainers, not management. Nobody. It's impossible for a patron to rerack properly because nothing is where it's supposed to be. 4) Attachments for cable machines are strewn all over the floor. This creates tripping hazards and makes it imposible to find what you need without sniffing around every machine looking for the proper grip for your exercise. 5) Kids club is sad and unprofessional. The first time I brought by kid there, there was one staff member. She asked my wife and I to 'watch the kids' while she went to the bathroom. She had never met us before. The room is small and overfilled with play structures, which means that the kids have very little space to run around. 6) This place is hugely overcrowded. Good luck getting a squat rack, a bench, or even some space on the floor to deadlift. And extra good luck finding the weights you need. They've got dumbbells from 5 pounds to 100 pounds, but seems like only one set of each, and most of the reasonable weight ranges seem to always be missing. 7) There's no real turf area. They have a small corner for 'stretching', but like everything else, it's always crowded when I show up. I have been a member of many gyms, lots of them were pretty grimey martial arts gyms. Every single gym I've been a member of was better equipped, better staffed, and cleaner. I was a member of the LA Fitness on Cypress, attending the Body Works class on Mondays, I now attend the Body Works class on Sundays 8:30 am. Most of us have had to arrive 45 minutes just to get space in the room. The instructor is great but the class is clearly overcrowded. I suspect there may be an accident in the near future considering there were approx. 60 people in last weeks class and the fact that there is personal stuff on the floor along with weights of various sizes. As a matter of fact, there have been verbal altercations since so many come into the class when it's about to start and the real estate is so limited. I'd like to have a Saturday 8:30 am Body Works Class at your location or Pompano or Oakland. Right now there are Zumba classes at both locations at this time. read more

There are several machines with missing parts. The pecs fly machine has been broken for at least 4 months now. The pins for some of the machines are missing so they are not functional. The bathroom doesn't have any toilet seat covers. It smells awful and there is always water all over the place. The floors aren't cleaned regularly. The main area upstairs. Smells really bad and they don't use their AC well. I would recommend Youfit or any other gym at this point. The basketball court hasn't been opened for over a month and it's still crowded. Yesterday morning I attended a Body Works class at this location, I put my keys on the window sill at the back of the room where the class was held. At the end of class I went to retrieve my keys and they were gone. One of the attendees took them. The expense of replacing the fob for my car is going to be in excess of $1,700.00. The key to my home is not an ordinary key and the cost for that is $165.00. This was grand theft. When I explained what happened to Henry, a manager, and what the cost was going to be to me, he was apathetic and refused to acknowledge they were taken stating that I was making an assumption. I been a member for a a few months, but I canceled my membership's because I can't workout there, first there is too many ppl always, no one re racks or clean after themselves, just to tell you how unavailable are the machines or the dumbbells, there is only one pair of 10s in the whole gym. Still filthy everywhere., hair and little flying bugs in the bathroom and showers. No Kleenex in the locker rooms. Dust, dirt, and hair on the rugs, floor, and equipment. The bins for sanitizing wipes are often empty and the staff does not monitor them. They are also located far from some if the equipment which doesn't make it easy for members to clean after themselves unless they take the initiative to walk across the gym to get them and that's even if the bin isn't empty! Have pointed out many of these issues and discussed them w the manager several times but nothing improves. I have gone to other LA Fitness gyms in other parts of the country and they have staff that actually work and clean! This location would most likely get cited for health code violations. The vents and ceiling fans are rusty and drip orange condensation from the rust. Pool and pool area is dirty. Disgusting gym that's very poorly managed. The equipment is also often broken and/or has cracked fabric. VERY few members clean the equipment after used. No signs asking people to clean after themselves either. Gross! read more

Great classes, parking and good equipment, Should be careful vetting some teachers and doing thorough background checks. We had a yoga teacher years ago who not too long ago added to her existing arrest background with a felony plea for drug possession and under the influence while driving about 115 mph. Fortunately, the arrest was after she was terminated in 2017, but she did have a criminal record beforehand and hustled in the adult industry. Can't recall her famous name shared by another actress, but she used to brag about posing for Playboy and making movies. read more

Not a great facility mainly because they do not clean or maintain it well, and the etiquette of members is non-existent. People NEVER put weights back where they're supposed to go and you'll have to search the whole gym to find the weights you need sometimes. There was also a time a few months ago, on a Friday afternoon where two black males, both sitting in a car, asked to use my phone because theirs was 'stolen' (I could clearly see the driver of the car using his phone). It seemed to be an attempt to steal my phone, the whole interaction was very sketchy and unsettling so there is a safety concern here (this can be said for the entire city of Pompano Beach tho lol). The equipment is always broken (3 out 5 on most days), waste baskets always overflowing, soap dispenser empty and worst of all guys taking photos/selfies in the locker room so you're assured you'll be ass-out in someone's photo...not fun! I remember when the gym first opened it looked amazing. Very sad that management can't enforce policies. By La Fitness standards, this location legit is as good as it gets. I know, it's new and eventually will (hopefully not) turn into what the others are, but for now, let me enjoy the wonderfulness that is this location. First off, it's kind of enormous. It looks like some type of shopping center from the outside. So much natural light. Amazing. The inside is neatly organize, yes, I said neatly organized. All of the cardio machines are on the first floor and the weights are on the second floor which is not typical I feel or most gyms. The biggest thing you guys is that this location is clean. Clean. Yes, I said it- CLEAN. It doesn't have that terrible LA Fitness smell- you know what I'm talking about; that wet feet carpet smell. Totally disgusting, but not here. The locker rooms are clean. The pool area is clean. The showers are clean. Let me say it again, this place is clean. They've got a nice little cafe for you to grab a snack or a smoothie at. When I first started here it seemed relatively clean and equipment decent. Recently it is pretty filthy and usually the towel dispensers are mostly empty with dirty towels thrown all over the place and no one seems to care. Management is oblivious, members don't wear masks and I think most have had Covid so maybe it doesn't matter at this point. At least that's how it appears. Members don't return equipment so you can never find dumbbells on the racks because they are strewn haphazardly around the gym. Members hog machines and leave their stuff around them as if they are using them but in reality are just lazy and off using different equipment so anyone polite enough to stay away from machines with knapsacks, etc around them end up feeling taken advantage of such as myself. . No one puts equipment back or clears machines of weights. The staff seems to pride themselves in being aloof and oblivious to all this. Probably all in recovery from drugs or still taking them as noted in a lot of the other reviews. The one in Oakland Park on Federal Highway is not any better. They do promote people cleaning the machines, but they also need to remind people to throw away their paper towel when they are done cleaning the machines. This gym is spacious with plenty of natural light. I enjoy warming up on the rowing machine or one of the many ellipticals. There's plenty of machines to do chest, back or legs. The free weights are rarely in the right place, which speaks poorly of the manners of the people who use them. The pool has regular aqua fit classes that have been wonderful for my elder father. The sauna is kept hot and in normal operation. There's too much chlorine in the pool and jacuzzi for my skin, but nice to use once in a while. The staff is friendly. I met a wonderful woman in the park by the name of Cindy, who was handing out free passes. As a member of a competitor, I was curious as to what they had to offer. When I called, I was quickly handed over to the sales department. Just by luck I got Cindy. I started to speak with her and then she quickly handed me off to her manager because she was new, only 2 days into the job. I understood and was happy to speak with him. Though once on the phone with the gentleman he spoke to me for a few seconds and then without excusing himself started to have a conversation with other people around him, leaving me hanging on the phone wondering why he had abruptly left our conversation. Needless to say, I hung up and will not be switching over from the competition. At least I am not treated with such rude behavior, especially from A sales team member and management at that!
