This is such an affordable way to workout! I was super impressed with the cleanliness of the facility and the friendliness of the staff. They were super professional in explaining the equipment, schedule of classes, membership perks and more! They have many offerings from massage beds, 30 minute circuit areas, a stretch area, and full shower area, and so much more! Each area offers something special to the gym. Oh, and the little quotes around the gym is a constant reminder of how they are a no judgement zone. All of the machines are up to date with technology included on the treadmill and elliptical machines. Now, how I often I go is a story for another day, lol! Beware of promises by Midtown Planet Fitness to place your account on hold! Even if the person on the phone says they confirmed things with management! Unfortunately, Midtown Planet Fitness lied about placing my account on hold and have re-started my account and began charging me without my permission. Called to ask why they went back on their commitment. They stated that they could not provide a refund of the charge. The $10 is not the issue. Planet Fitness not honoring their commitment is a problem. Poor customer service is a problem. I planned to go back to work out at Planet Fitness again in the future. Very short-sighted as I will now never go back to Midtown Planet Fitness. I just hate it when businesses show a lack of basic integrity. read more

It is relatively stringent here compared to nearby states with PF. You must have the mask on at least your mouth at all times, the water fountains are closed and there is limited massage chair and bed use. The workout wasn't bad, they have decent equipment. read more

I go here 4x a week. Go to CRUNCH. Got my water bottle stolen and they couldn't even check the cameras for me Always wondering what limb will come off first and if the machines are actually older than I am or if they just sound like that. Not worth the money. And it's only $10 if that's saying anything. read more

They were closed for over 2 months. Then reopened without letting the members know. After all this time, there's no place to hang you towel in the shower, no place to hang your clothes in the tanning rooms, broken toilet paper dispensers, water fountain slow as heck and water room temperature, locker doors off their hinges.... In a nutshell, more consistent on point customer service would push this to a 5 star rating. It's really the only thing that's a toss up, which probably isn't the thing you want to be a toss up, but alas... The place is expansive, thorough, spacious, and clean. There is a machine for everything and a good amount of them. There are tons of areas for non-machine/weight cardio and exercise. The weightlifting area is a bit small in comparison, but I think that's on purpose with their whole non-intimidation charm. The gym was nice. I liked that it had a lot of space and that everyone did a good job cleaning off their equipment after they used it. They have great hours too. The only downside is the location for me was too far from my house. But I will be back just not as often as I would like. read more

I've visited several Planet Fitness gyms and realized this review is specifically for my home based gym in Florissant MO. The gym is huge and I never have a problem finding equipment when I need it. The staff are always very professional and you'll always see someone cleaning and/or disinfecting. Some of the others didn't meet the high bar set by home based PF, but they were still good nevertheless. I travel for work so the PF Black membership is awesome and affordable. read more

It encourages men to just sit there and talk in depth about football. In a limited space. And it's too loud. But the gym part is spacious and clean and everything works. Been coming to this location since January 2018. First gym membership..I think it pretty much serves its purpose. I've figured out when it'll be packed, and the perfect times to have some good..solo time. The employees are all cool, don't really doing anything extra, they speak and say goodbye as you're arriving and leaving. Like I said the place serves its purpose and that's all I need ! I am just as confused about the tootsie rolls and pizzas as everyone else. However, I get everything I need without the fuss, gym drama, or snooty attitudes and I get it all for $10 a month. I visited quite a few boutique gyms before joining PF and even tested out group fitness classes on guest passes, but most of the gyms were way too small, offered a variety of classes but none I was interested in taking regularly, had ridiculously inconvenient hours, or snooty members who made it known what kind of cars they drive/ where they vacation/ what private school their kids attend/ that they don't eat carbs. $10 a month gets me: - 24 hour access - Free mini sessions led by a trainer (30 minute circuit, abs, legs, or a create your own program) - No hassle month to month membership You can also upgrade to the $20 a month black card membership to have access to all PF locations, tanning beds, mini sauna, massage chairs and hydro-massage beds, a fancy light therapy machine, and guest passes. I wish there were more group fitness options, but I supplement with barre classes when I'm in the mood for those and that works just fine for me. TL;DR: The gym is clean, bright, and available whenever I need it for only $10/month. #winning read more

the planet fitness on poplar needs to fix it's audio on the elliptical machines (all cardio machines). i have told different people at the front kiosk. they say there is a work order in. it's been at least a month, or longer. why have audio jacks if their not going to work. frustrared!!! I've long lamented the lack of reliable gym options in the midtown area and jumped at the chance to join this gym when it opened recently. I figured anything could be better than having to drive 35 minutes to get to one of the nicer, bigger, 24/7 gyms out in the suburbs. Let's face it -- that's a recipe for never working out. So far, I've loved this new gym. The staff is friendly and on their game. The equipment is brand new, the facility is super clean, and the price is unbeatable. For ten bucks a month you don't expect too much, but I'd say this place delivers above and beyond. It's not crazy fancy, but it's everything you need in a gym. Tons of treadmills with individual TVs, plus plenty of ellipticals and other cardio equipments all set in front of a bank of big screen TVs. You've got all the basic weight machines, plus a great 30-minute start/stop circuit area and a separate area for stretching and abs. I've already seen a huge mix of people working out there from every possible age, race and body type. I love that! If you want to pay $30 a month, you can use their tanning beds, hydro-massagers, and relaxation chairs. And it's always free to bring a friend to workout with you, which is a huge plus. Hopefully they'll keep up the good work and we'll finally have a great place to workout in midtown. read more

Clean, close to home, free tootsie rolls and pizza? What more could I ask for in a gym? Also, it is dirt cheap when compared to other gyms around here. I went for the black card membership which gets me access to their massage chairs and beds as well as their tanning area (which I haven't tried). The bed and chairs are awesome - I personally like the chair the most. My only qualms (and they aren't large ones) are that the treadmills won't let you run for more than an hour without stopping and there's not a visible garbage can at the exit so tootsie roll wrappers end up all over the parking lot. I also wish that there were free barbells. They have a squatting rack but it's a secured rack (One of those that slides up and down a pole). Besides those things though it's great. Also, for the price I can't really even complain. If you want to check it out, go in and ask for a free tour. Everyone is really friendly. read more

Very clean, drama free, and 24 hours... What more do you need? I avoid the pizza, candy, and bagels lol... But I enjoy the atmosphere. I never see anyone staring at me or laughing at me like I have dealt with at other gyms. I work out in peace and people leave me alone. read more

Now I understand billing is a separate issue from the club. But the fact if a member is trying to pay or make a payment or even buy a day pass that should be allowed. But for some reason if you're out of town from your main club which where you signed up originally, that you can't update anything. In fact if your account is not up to date you can't even go to the restroom. I think this is Dumb concept of billing, planet fitness needs to figure it out a better More convenient way. I am an attorney in Memphis and work and live in this neighborhood. My wife and I both hold memberships. I have a real problem with this company. 1) Local manager refuses to give me a number to make a complaint to franchise holder and tells me she knows of no one above her. Really, who hired her? 2) They do not tell the truth 3) They treated me poorly 4) The corporate office has a telephone menu for which I have left many messages with no call back (left with several people) 5) Let's see if corporate investor person will return my call. Don't worry; treat me poorly and you will either be in one of my songs, or I will discuss the issue on my radio show, or on Facebook. A member since it opened. It has remained consistent during that time. Aerobic equipment is in good supply and always in working order. Tvs on the treadmills a nice thing. Wifi works better than when the olace opened. Strength machines are usually open with no waiting. The staff greets you hello goodby which is enough for me. Mens room is clean. It is a gym. I went through the process of downloading yelp and making an account, solely to give this planet fitness a bad review. I was a member at this gym over the 2019 summer while I had an internship in Memphis. I forgot to cancel in person, and was told I had to mail a physical letter to cancel. It is now a year and 3 letters later, and I am still getting charged monthly for my membership. I just had to cancel my debit card because it was the only way I could get away from this horrible location. Customer service is the worst I have ever experienced and all they want is your money, avoid this location at all costs. read more

I probably won't renew my membership after this month. While I enjoy the gym itself, it is sweltering hot inside, especially during peak hours. While they do have large industrial-size fans, they run them on the very lowest setting. I can't even imagine how hot it will be in there during the Summer months. There are people sitting around on the equipment using it as their personal furniture while they send texts for ten-fifteen minutes. I've seen others talking on speaker phone, although there is a sign up to confine cell phone conversations to the lobby. Personnel seem oblivious to all of these things. read more

I love this gym. I am a frequent visitor and never had a bad experience. No judgement, employees are helpful, and it's in a good neighborhood. I definitely recommend the black card membership if you are a frequent gym goer. You can go to any location with it versus the standard membership. Plus, it comes with many different amenities such as the massage and tanning services. I wonder if they have personal trainers on staff... That I'm not sure. I'll ask tonight read more

I have to say that I really hate that they now have commitments on the membership. I wanted to cancel mine and was informed that they charge a $58 but out fee. The best part of pf was no contract no commitment. Apparently it's only with the black card. They did waive my fee because I was never informed of a fee when I signed up. read more

Very nice gym, yet the pay system is a bother and could be modified. You have to visit the gym to update a debit or credit card if you get a new card. This is the only auto pay I have that is like this. You will not be notified of a payment process issue until it's too late to avoid a late fee. I received an email stating my payment could not be accepted, so I logged into the desktop site to update my card payment, as only through the email did I realize the card on file was a debit card I just replaced. It is not possible to update the payment card on the website. I called the gym and told I needed to pay in store. Once I stated I could not come by for a couple days I was told ok. Not, that I would be assessed a late fee of the monthly dues amount. It's a small amount, but I feel not appropriate and no attempt was made by staff to remove the charge. So while the gym experience is very nice overall and a fantastic value, I suggest you keep your payment card up to date. Update - the note on EFT for payment deduction directly from checking is great. I'll make that change next time I'm at the gym. Thank you. read more

The biggest complaint I have with Planet Fitness is the attitude of staff. They are all awful. They lied to me on the day I visited to get my membership, and only 6 days later I cancelled because of it. I was told by a manager and another staff member that I would have unlimited guest passes with a white card, I walked in 3 hours later with a guest, walked by the same staff I'd spoken with earlier that day, and nothing was said. 6 days later I went back with the same guest and was rudely told by Michelle that I can't bring guests. The very next day, all I wanted was my money back because I felt I'd been lied to by the staff. It became the decision of Stephanie Rosenthal, the DM, and she decided that I don't deserve a refund, even though the staff's lie is why I wanted to quit. The gym doesn't even have enough equipment to be called a "gym". This place is a joke and the staff is so rude, not to mention liars. Save your money, don't go to this place. This is why it's $10/month - because of the terrible service they provide. It's because of establishments like this that I continue to pay more for customer service. Planet Fitness of Poplar is a waste of time, money, and space. read more
