When I called up to inquire they were very rude. The guy actually challenged me to a fight! He may have been hit in the head too many times because that's ridiculous. He said that the gyms policy is that cancellations must be in writing. Not a problem at all. The problem is that the girl who worked there didn't tell us that. Otherwise we would have sent an email to cancel. Also, for some weird reason, the guy on the phone kept saying that the gym is family owned. What does family owned have to do with stealing money from members? The gym ended up stealing $125 from me.

Soap dispencers are empty, bathrooms dirty. Teenagers are loud, disruptive, playing chase, tying up machines, standing in the way of people passing, rough housing, and now in the middle of main areas playing hackey sack so you can't get by and use the machines. This place is way overpacked, the machines need to be updated and people need to be told to get off their phones and workout. If you don't workout stand aside and let the people workout who want to workout. For $19 a month this is what you get.

This worked in my favor as I had intended to call and cancel my upcoming sessions as I felt it would not be responsible to continue coming into the studio after being on an airplane at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. We jumped at the chance to do virtual workouts. My husband, John, and I have a joint session with Joe twice a week. We already had 2 make-up sessions last week with Brianna and Lizzie (making up for those I missed while travelling). This morning was our first session with Joe via FaceTime. To get the blood pumping, before connecting with Joe, we did a warm up by walking up and down the stairs multiple times. Joe called us 5 minutes ahead of our session and we were ready to get going. While it is not the same as being in the studio, this is a great alternative to making sure that we maintain our fitness goals. I'm amazed at how much we were able to do with the limited resources we have at home! A sturdy chair, the wall, the floor - all are areas that can be used to achieve the workout that you need to stay fit and healthy. I can highly recommend this alternative during this time. It's great to still get our workout in, stay healthy, and be responsible. I am looking forward to being able to get back on the treadmill though, especially when the weather is not so great out. In a world full of competition, living in the black and white of contract terms when a family is forced to relocate temporarily across the country, will create for short term income in the form of a "cancellation fee", but a long term loss in the form of a family who will never return. As a former customer who has influence in the fitness industry, I will shed light to these issues and advise others to not join due to lack of flexibility from leadership. The club is nice visually and the equipment is good, but relationships with customers is what creates loyalty, when there are 10 other gyms in town with equally nice equipment. The best customer service doesn't just please people. It makes the business stronger, smarter, and more sustainable.
