Planet Fitness of Salem just keeps getting worse. You have jammed up machines with people sitting on them and on their phones for hours and I mean hours at a time. Soap dispencers are empty, bathrooms dirty. Teenagers are loud, disruptive, playing chase, tying up machines, standing in the way of people passing, rough housing, and now in the middle of main areas playing hackey sack so you can't get by and use the machines. This place is way overpacked, the machines need to be updated and people need to be told to get off their phones and workout. If you don't workout stand aside and let the people workout who want to workout. For $19 a month this is what you get. read more

This guy Rick at planet fitness Salem Nh keeps being rude and coming at me that i sweared at him i dis defend myself cuz he was so unprofessional not giving me the ser i requested because he couldn't fix the problem he created to prob what i am paying for every single mont. Update; The general state of the Fitness Equipment has greatly improved over the past year or so. Maintenance issues are far less frequent, now. Planet Fitness in Salem, NH recently removed ALL Hand Sanitizer Stations. No idea why, other than as an apparent cost savings? Not a really big concern but; a little bit puzzling. read more

An update to my previous review. They made a lot of changes which has led to the people leaving . They are now " lunkheads are welcome " gym. They got rid of a popular circuit room and turned it into free weights . They put half those machines in the aisle(safety hazard ?) and got rid of the others. They also got rid of many of the duplicates of popular machines so you're either waiting to use them or they're broken. It's very disappointing. I've been a member for 10 years and will either be cancelling my membership or at least downgrading my black card to basic . read more

The changes are puzzling and I hear many complaints this AM. The staff has not been trained on the new Cross Trainers and some very popular machines have been removed. I'll be visiting other gyms in the area. Too bad, but sometimes changes are not the smartest idea, read more

The new Planet Fitness finally opened up in Salem at the Rockingham Plaza in the space that was formally Bob's Discount Furniture. The space is amazing. Its huge inside and OMG really the place must have at least 60 treadmills! So much new equipment - elliptical, free weights, stretching out area and a special spa area for "Black Club" members. You can not beat the price at $10 month! I was paying triple that my previous gym, the Salem Athletic Club. As of this writing, PF is supposed to be open 24/7. read more

Clean crisp new Planet Fitness. Located in the building where the old Bob's Furniture. Spacious work out area with small locker rooms in my opinion. Cool 30 min workout circuit that is self-served. It's my first time at a Planet Fitness so I can't really compare to others. The parking lot has plenty of parking. Free pizza first Monday of each month and bagels and coffee first Tuesday. read more

It's not a bad place if you are not a serious gym person. This place is more for people who want to be on treadmills and ellipticals. Don't get me wrong, any exercise is better than none but this place just doesn't feel like a gym. My biggest issue with the place is the fact that they only accept checking account auto debit as payment at this location. This location accepts no other form of payment. Some Planet Fitness gyms do offer a way to pay all at once, but the amount is much higher then if you pay month to month. Not sure why they need access to my checking account on a monthly bases to get a good rate. Seems odd. read more

This is probably one of the worst PF locations I have been to. Over the past few months this gym has declined in service and cleanliness. There are machines that have been broken for far too long. The cleanliness is a whole other story... the smell coming from the men's locker room will make your stomach turn. It's just disgusting. The equipment is always dirty and most of the time paper towels and cleaner are empty. You can tell they had quite a bit of turnover recently resulting in all new staff that are not trained, or they just don't care at all. They sit on their phones behind the front desk and rarely do anything to maintain the gym. I mentioned the state of the bathroom to a girl upfront once and all I got was an "okay" and a shrug. I have cancelled my membership and will gladly spend more money at a cleaner and more professional gym. read more

Equipment needs better maintenance, members tend to tie up equipment just looking at their phone.. keep the phone in the locker room or go site down in the seating area's. Time for planet fitness to put up signs to remind people that if they need to use the phone go to the seating area and not tie up equipment. The paper towels to clean the equipment is so thin it almost like cleaning with toilet paper! The tanning equipment is shut down often with no explanation, thy just say until further notice. which is usually a couple weeks! is this just to save money? read more

Fix the damn machines - months going by and more machines broken nothing getting fixed !!

Convenient location, large facility, clean machines and locker room. My issue with this location is the plethora of gym members walking around/ working out with no mask on or mask around their neck. The staff doesn't seem to enforce the mask rule. It'd be fine if there was social distancing in place but everybody is on top of each other. read more

I've been a PF member on and off for 20+ years. Recently I spoke with Dave Mill, manager of the Salem, NH location to inquire about membership cancellation options since I no longer live near this location. Dave was very sarcastic, angry and in a hurry to get me off of the phone. He barely let me get a word in. I kept my membership going during the pandemic even though I wasn't comfortable going to the gym. I don't feel like I deserved to be treated this way! Awful customer service! Happy PF is back in Salem. Affordable, new equipment and attentive staff. Clean inside obviously- it's new, we will see what it looks like a year later tho... Tons of cardio equipment though. I do like the little sections they have on the right wall for 30min complete workout and the TRX rope area. When this place gets busy you can't get on ANY equipment other than cardio, plan accordingly. Love how it's open 24/7, works great for my schedule. read more

I have been going to this Planet Fitness for a little over a year now (excluding when they closed for Covid-19) All I can say is how amazing this gym is. The gym is extremely clean at all times, I see employees constantly cleaning/sanitizing workout equipment. The gym has paper towels + sanitizer spray bottles at stations scattered around the gym so you can clean the equipment before and after you use it. (Hand Sanitizer there too) Hours: The gym is open 24/7 and this is one of the best parts for me. I have a hectic schedule and being able to go to the gym at any time of the day is amazing. Parking: The parking lot is huge and they'll never run out of space their Crowds: In my opinion, the gym does get a little crowded at peak times (Lunchtime and after work) but its a huge gym and there is more than enough equipment there for you to find something that fits your workout needs. If you are ever wondering how many people are there, the Planet Fitness app has a "Crowd Meter" which shows you how crowded the gym is. Employees: I can't stress this enough but the employees are awesome. I have never had any problems with them at all. And almost every time I come in they say to me "Have a good workout" and "Have a good day" when you leave. Cost: Nothing beats the cost. I just have a normal membership which is $10.00/month + $40.00 a year for the yearly fee. That averages out to about $13.30 a month. read more

I used to go to PF years ago when it first open, it definitely has "upgraded" its perks since then, even if you're paying 20 a month. Staff is friendly, place is clean, open 24/7. There are classes Monday through Friday and a personal trainer. Black card holders can use tanning beds, massage chairs and hydro massage. So far so good! read more

Today was the first time I went back to Planet Fitness since the pandemic started. Needless to say I will not be returning any time soon. I was appalled at the lack of mask wearing in the facility. People were walking around with only their mouths covered or without masks at all. Others were running on the machines with either the mask completely down or again with their nose exposed. The gym itself seemed short staffed. No one was waking around to enforce mask wearing and there was no additional safety cleaning going on. The girls at the desk were very young so I'm not sure if they were intimated by several teenage boys who were not wearing their masks. The whole experience was terrible and I felt very unsafe. I hope they get their act together otherwise they shouldn't be open if they aren't going to take the proper steps to protect their guests. read more

Great gym! The cleanest and most well-maintained Planet Fitness I have found in the area. Excellent job to the Management Staff Corey and Thomas. The staff is exceptional. Each person on the team greats everyone warmly at the door by name. They are friendly and encouraging and will go out of their way to answer any questions. The trainer Lee is exceptional at helping you to meet your fitness goals and will customize an exercise program for any fitness level. The only complaint I have is that most of the staff look like Abercrombie and Fitch models. They really need to hire a middle-aged guy named Darren who is slightly overweight (shirt size XL) and encourages you to eat more tootsie rolls at the door! read more

This is, by far, the best PF that I've ever been to. It's clean, all of the equipment is new, it's HUGE. Seriously, I have never felt cramped working out here, this is a gigantic gym. The tanning is great here too; they have stand-ups and beds all with new bulbs. The manager here is such a nice guy ! read more

I have been waiting for this gym to open since I first traveled to Salem for work at the beginning of January. I had my first couple of visits this week and have to say, what an awesome gym! Very spacious. It has great lighting and awesome overhead fans that make it nice & cool when you're using one of the many, many cardio equipment options. There's TONS of treadmills & ellipticals. Probably the most I've ever seen at a gym. The weights and other equipment are spread out nicely so you don't feel like you're on top of each other. The tanning equipment is the newest and nicest you can get- THANK YOU!! I hate when other locations skimp on the tanning beds. It's so nice to relax & tan after a workout, and actually get some color. Locker rooms are nice. Bring your own lock. No luck with the other kind of lockers where you can make your own code and not have to worry about bringing your own lock. Parking is great, and the parking lot is very well lit for you late night gym goers. Well done, franchise owner! You should be proud! Can't wait to visit again. read more
