I went here a couple of years ago but I didn't really like it compared to the Fairfield one. However I've changed up my workout routine and the Fairfield location doesn't have certain machines I like. So I venture to the facility in Morris Plains and turns out they did! That made me excited and glad I made the trip. However their one and only fly machine was broken. That was a big bummer. I also don't really like that the locker room is in the basement so this is kind of an awkward design. I still prefer the Fairfield one overall but this place does have some machines that I can't get there. Staff was friendly enough and the parking lot is wide open and easy to park in. Definitely plan to return when I need to use their machines. It's easy enough to get in and out and overall it seemed very clean and worth it. read more

I LOVE THIS PLANET FITNESS. My boyfriend and I go at night time. There is only a few people there and that's what we prefer rather than going during the day with a lot of people. I have been to the Rockaway location and I do not like it at all. Too many people at any time of day. I prefer this one because it is clean. It is smaller than most planet fitness but it has a down stairs work at room which is more private and pleasant experience for who are just staring there work out experience. As a gym rat for 34 years, I'm selective and picky. Planet Fitness in Morris Plains more than meets my criteria. There are several aerobic machines of all types. A great deal of both free weight and machine weight choices available. I love the 30 minute workout. Im pleased all members sanitize everything after each use. As a black card member I enjoy the tanning beds as a prelude to summer. I highly recommend this gym. read more

I would like to be reimbursed the $68.06 in fees I was charged. I was not made aware that the gym was reopening. My local Planet Fitness in Morris Plains, NJ claims I was sent an email notification but I cannot locate it (I checked junk mail as well. The last communication I received was on 4/13/20 entitled "A message from Fitness Planet CEO Chris Rondeau" and it had nothing to do with reopening.) I would have cancelled my membership if I had known because I cannot take a risk with COVID as my son and I live with my parents who are senior citizens who have pre-existing conditions. My local gym could not provide evidence that I had been notified about the gym's reopening. The gym manager Chris replied, "There is no proof that we can provide showing we sent you an email. The email that came from corporate used the same email we have on file, so you should have gotten the email." I requested the contact info from Chris for corporate several times over email but I was ignored. When I called to request it, I was told by the Assistant Manager that "we can't give out that information." So my next attempt was to go into the gym in person. I spoke to Chris and asked who makes these decisions and he told me the Regional Manager. I asked to speak to him and again, I was told I cannot have his contact info. It has been weeks and I have followed up several times but the Regional Manager has not called me back. Lastly, the Morris Plains location told me I could contact corporate through the planet fitness website and when I did that I received an email saying I "If you have questions about billing or a charge on your account, and are looking for a refund, please contact the staff or management at your home club location." Same is true of the Facebook page. But the Morris Plains location has ignored me, refused to call me back and refused to share information. This is the wrong way to treat people. I feel Planet Fitness is not doing the right thing during COVID. Just starting to charge me without giving me a chance to make a decision about my membership during a time when people are dying due to a pandemic that easily spreads person to person in a place where people share equipment is just wrong. (They will reply probably reply with their standard response about how they're handling covid instead of answering my specific refund request). This New Year's Eve, I watched the Times Square Ball Drop and saw Planet Fitness was the main sponsor which is an investment of millions of dollars. I just want my $68 back that is rightfully mine. Michelle L. the manager is simple fantastic. The gym is spotless with more workout machines, treadmills and stationary bicycles I have ever seen. Even in peak times there is plenty of equipment and free weights etc. The entire staff is very friendly and make me feel like I am with friends. If you want creepy old men telling you how to do a certain exercise or dirty looks thrown at you for running on the treadmill because you interrupted Dorothy and Wendy's conversation, then this is the gym for you! Seriously nice staff- even though they have no idea what they are doing especially when it comes to working out, but the clientele is extremely strange. Im being very generous with my 2 stars. This gym has deteriorated drastically. NOTHING is updated, machines take months to get fixed and the cleanliness is a 0!!! Mike is the ONLY staff member that seems to have any care of his job and the gym. Im unsure if management or owners are aware of the current conditions of the gym. Or if they even care. I absolutely love this location. The staff is so friendly and the perfect mix between layers-back and professional. There is ALWAYS at least one person cleaning & I've never had a problem with any sort of mess or been scared of getting sick in the almost year I've been coming here. I've never felt judged and love seeing the other regulars everyday! This gym is another planet fitness store with good location, machine, plus massage. Ok staff service. Nothing special but not much to complain. Location/parking: this gym is located in plaza which means plenty of parking space. Most of the closet parking space is reserved for other business but I never struggled because of the parking. Facility: all of the cardio machine is new. I do not find any thing broken. They have good number of all the machines and equipped with good amount of weight. They do have tanning beds, 2 hydro massage beds, 3 massage chairs. I never had to wait for the chair or bed. Shower: not that good at least in female lockers. It is just a shower booth with curtains- reminding me of high school. A couple of shower booth with no space to put stuff near the booth. People: this gyms get crowded time to time. I often visit around 8 am or around 6pm. Around 6pm, I do see around good 20 people in the gym. Many are mostly doing cardio, but may have to wait few mins for the weight/spots. Service: all people are relatively friendly. Most of the employees are nice and greets you well. I did notice one unfriendly staff though. Tip: this gym (or every planet fitness) asks for checking account. For the first day, they asked for accounting and routing number. And they also requested a hard copy of check or direct deposit form. I am not sure other planet fitness store request a check, but I did find a little uncomfortable. read more

Poor Customer Service. On my first visit I should have cancelled. I walked in and without much greeting at all I was told I need to provide a cancelled check before they can give me a key tag, but I could work out this without it. No, welcome to our facility, can we show you around, or do you have any questions. I found my way to the locker room and began my workout only to notice that the volume of the music blasting through their speakers was so loud I could barely hear my noise canceling headphones. When looking for someone to request the volume be turned down, I could only find employees that either shrugged me off or wouldn't stop their conversation long enough to talk to me. I kept giving it a try because I really wanted it to work, but finally today I couldn't do it any longer. When I went into cancel my membership, less than 2 months after joining I was informed I was still going to be charged a full years annual fee of approximately $42. When I pointed out that this is ridiculous since I only belong there for less than 2 months I was told that I should have quit before the 25th (3 days ago). If you don't want to get ripped off don't join Planet Fitness. I am letting all my friends and family know. read more

Absolutely the BEST gym around!!! I love that staff talks to you with compassion and not just by a number. Equipment is always clean & sanitized. Locker room is very roomy & clean. The trainer, Cole is exemption. He is very knowledgeable in fitness anatomy. One thing that stands out is the regional managers also walk around the club and greet clients. All locations are decorated with a jarring yellow and purple color scheme. If you're just looking for machines and work with a trainer, this may be a fine choice. There are no classes. The gym members now dominate the parking lot at this small strip mall. In the beginning, it was so mobbed that my parents eventually stopped waiting in line to show their member key fobs, but post January the crowds seem to be fading into the past, as expected. Bang for the buck, this is a great gym. $10/month, cancellable anytime with minimal startup fees. Decent equipment, not huge weights or some machines that I like to use, but for what it is it's great. I've only been going early in the afternoon and even then it's a decent amount of people, but can get onto any equipment I want. From 5-7pm it's packed I've heard, but there are so many elliptical machines you can get in on that. This is the best "bang for the buck gym" in the area, simple as that. read more

Yes, it deserved all those caps... You still can get the $10/month membership but you don't get those extras, if you care. Even when the gym is packed you can always get a treadmill or elliptical. The gym is really big, has a TON of machines, and a large free weight section as well. Bring your headphones, each cardio machine has a jack to watch any of the 50 tvs. There are no classes but for $20.00 a month, can you complain? If you're looking for steroids or scary aerobics teachers you might want to hit the World Gym 10 minutes away. read more

I'm not sure why so many people hate on the Planet Fitness franchise saying it's not a real gym or joke around about the pizza Fridays(?). For $10 a month, this gym has everything I need. There's never a shortage of treadmills or ellipticals and there are usually two of each weight machine. The cardio machines are all hooked up to the overhead TVs, but some of their headphone jacks don't work that well. It would be cool if they rang the lunk alarm because there is the occasional lunk haha. read more

So I just found out that, yet again, our trainer is leaving - this one lasted 2 months. He was excellent. Before him, each trainer lasted only a few months - needed to get other jobs since the pay is poor and the hours horrible. Each time a trainer leaves, we are left without someone for several months. This is not fair to the members who seek guidance on exercises and enjoy a group setting. Also, it is false advertising. PF ads always say free training/fitness classes included. I have no problems with the staff - they are all pleasant, helpful and welcoming. I just wish the owners would treat them better so they would stick around. Very high turnover. For the most part the place is clean - the equipment could use a little better maintenance. I do enjoy going to PF - have met some wonderful people and with the trainer's help have gotten much stronger. I am writing this only because I'm hoping owners understand that if you advertise something and don't deliver, there are consequences. Perhaps you should make changes to the schedule so that a trainer will actually stick around a while. Ask for input from the people taking the classes as well. read more

This is based on my experience a couple years ago so I hope they have not changed for the worst since then. At the time I signed up it was $10 per month, no start up fees. Huge facilities, free and easy parking, sanitizing spray for the equipment, lots of cardio and strength equipment everywhere. One of the best deals ever. Eventually I moved and cancelling was easy. Now I'm at retro fitness because the planet fitness in NYC has a bad reputation unfortunately. Hours could be slightly better, closes a little early on weekend. Half a star off. read more

I recently joined and so far so good... Typical gym machines. Great for people looking for value and quality. The staff aren't hassling you. It's pretty laid back. People of all body shapes. No need to feel intimidated. I like that. Plenty of cardio equipment and the circuit training area is great for me. The front desk staff are always friendly and were very informative when we went to join. I'm not new to gym memberships and it was pretty straight forward no crazy small print. They outline everything for you. The not so great. Men who go into the circuit area and stay on one or two machines without doing an actual circuit workout... For example... They just stay on the one machine instead of going into the gym to find that machine and wait there turn. Another not so great... I saw three people get off treadmills and other machines without coming back to clean them off... So make sure you clean before and after because your fellow gym mate might not give you the courtesy. And finally the last not so great... The tanning beds are W E A K... I'm fair skinned... I figure let me do just 5 minutes because I haven't been in a tanning bed in years... Nothing... Next time I said... Let me do TEN minutes and if it's too hot I'll get out earlier... I stayed the full 10 minutes and just as my ten minutes approached I could feel the lights just about to work. Then my time was up. I want to say it would probably take me ten times being in one of these tanning Beds to see an actual change in my skin shade. Again I'm pale, blue eyes, burn then tan if I'm in the sun too long. I've never been able to lay in a tanning bed and not burn for 10 minutes. If the beds don't start to do their job I might back down my membership. read more

Don't go unless you want to risk getting Covid. Too many people working out with either no masks on, or their masks on their chins or under their noses. Was told it was "okay" for people to wear their masks under their noses when doing cardio (ie. on treadmill, elliptical machine, etc.) Would love to know what scientific basis Planet Fitness has to flout state guidelines and make this determination. read more

Been coming here for a few years. It's what you'd expect of a straightforward, no-frills gym. Staff is friendly; some are good at remembering faces and swipe you in automatically, which is appreciated. They always take the time to say goodbye to you too and you do see them working hard to clean the machines. Always get a decent workout, but there are the usual people who won't wipe down machines, grunt and talk loudly, hog the stairclimber for 2 hours when all the other ones are broken, or chat on the cell phone the entire time but that's really any fitness place I suppose. The app is also temperamental and the updates cause sign-in issues (I've given up and just use the physical card). Can't beat $10 a month though! read more

Been going since Sept 2018 and still no trainer and dont see room to train if we had one. Last month, they stopped supplying boxes of tissues. At least they have tons of disinfectant and brown recyclable paper to keep machines clean. Staff is friendly, but the members are not. read more

i have to say i have no complaints about this gym. they offer $10/month and $20/month memberships. there are no classes and no pool- but if you don't use those things anyway, then this is the perfect gym. there are a ton of machines and a variety at that. the running machines (treadmills, arc trainers, ellipticals, stairmasters) all connect to the audio of the tv's. there are also a lot of free weights and weight machines. the staff are all really friendly and nice, they are always cleaning the machines, always say hi and bye, the trainer is super nice, and they all will answer questions you may have. they have tanning and massage chairs/bed here included in the $20/month memberships!!! hello, thats a deal. monthly tanning elsewhere is usually at least $20, just for that. they also have a work out area downstairs, which i like to use because i don't feel like i'm on display. i love this gym! i just wish there were more locations for whenever i may move. read more

Went there yesterday at 5:30am and it was closed waited 20 minutes still closed. This happened one day during memorial week 2016 same thing went at 5:30 am waited 10 mins still did not open. if you advertise to open at 5 am NO EXCUSES YOU NEED TO OPEN at 5AM!!
