I don't come to this location regularly but the couple of times I've been here they were short on staff but busy. This means the men's locker room wasn't very clean or neat. I originally gave two stars because I did get a good workout in a couple of times, separate visits. I subtracted a star for the corporate response suggesting that I work for Planet Fitness for free. Look here large corporate chain, It's not MY job to tell your manager what your manager should already know. Besides, I know that in situations like this, instead of giving raises and treating employees better, some poor underpaid minion at the lowest rungs will get scolded for not doing the work of 4 people properly. It's not some government high level clearance secret that the locker room isn't always very clean, just walk in there and see. Visited with a friend early one morning. I was a bit apprehensive; I heard Planet Fitness did not have a lot of equipment and that their gyms suck. I was very surprised. They do not have a swimming pool, steam room or sauna. But they do have hydro massage beds and chairs as well as tanning rooms. Planet Fitness had everything I needed to complete a good workout. I had a knee injury so my doctor encourages elliptical machines. I also use the row machine and the pull up bar. I was blown away with the stretch capsule because you can place your arms or legs anywhere and give a good tug for a really good benefit. Thank you Planet Fitness! Today Kara, an employee came in the bathroom & told several lies. First, she was coughing and said she couldn't breathe because of the smell of bleach. I didn't even have bleach I had pinesol. She then lied and said I had to leave because I was banned because I walked pass employees on 4 occasions after being told I have an outstanding balance. I have NEVER!! I don't even know why she would say that, it has Never happened once! I didn't have a balance today and I would never ignore anyone telling me I had a balance! I've had this membership for 1.5 years and I've always cleaned the shower before I use it. Each time I ever spoke to an employee it was regarding cleaning the shower. First, after months, I was told I could clean but I had to use a spray bottle, so I bought one. Months later I was told I couldn't use bleach. Fine, I never bought bleach again only used antibacterial spray. Now, again months later, Im being told I'm banned because outside cleaning supplies are not allowed. Granted I have Never spoken to a manager prior to today, so who banned me and why wasn't I warned or informed? They always send a random employee that contradicts the last employee I spoke to telling me a new rule. I never argue, I immediately leave & comply the next time I come. Today Kara literally said "there's a note in the computer that says you're not welcome here." Even though I was never warned or informed and I have never caused a problem! I spoke to Nick, the manager, after Kara lied. He tried to apologize and say outside cleaning products are not allowed going forward. They should've told me that from the beginning, 1.5 years ago when I got the membership! Instead they kept sending an employee to change the rules and I complied to each new rule. Finally,today they sent Kara into the bathroom to humiliate me, LIE and kick me out simply because I like to clean the shower before I use it. PF is an okay fitness gym. Economically priced and usually clean. I like that it is not allowed to drop the weights and slam the machines. I have been going to LA Fitness and there are those who regularly drop really heavy weights and about give you a heart attack from the sudden bam of noise. I used to go to PF a few years ago and I didn't have any issues with it, but they don't have a pool or hot tub so I joined LA Fit, but now I am thinking of going back to PF to save money because I don't really use the pool or hot tub very often and I don't do Zumba or spin class or basketball so why pay the big $'s? read more

I was a longtime member of X-Sport in Chicago Ridge. It got scummy so I joined this Planet Fitness. Meh. Staff is not all that great. They know how to scan your card and that's about it. Machines are new. That's good. Lots of scumbags running around, jumping on equipment, and not wiping it off. Also PF has an area dedicated to 12 minute abs. You use a machine, watch the light, and move on. But here you just have slobs sitting around on the equipment while playing with their cell phones. The staff does nothing to enforce the rules. Parking isn't bad but I did have some scumbag hit my card and leave the scene. Planet Fitness is not expensive. I guess that's why any fool with ten bucks in his pocket can get in. They should stop waiving the annual fee and make people pay full price. That should eliminate some of the creeps from coming in. Unless this place gets better I'll jump ship and give Lifetime Fitness a try. read more

Love this place, been coming for about a year. Friendly staff and people that go here. Good equipment, locker and bathroom for men seems fine, can't speak for the women or the other none binary bathroom group. Staff do clean the bathroom often so I don't know what people are complaining about but again, this is Yelp where yellows congregate, I know I've done it. Respect the gym and clean up after yourself, wipe down the equipment after use and there won't be a mess in the locker room or on the floor. Have a good exercise/workout and cheers! read more

While at Planet Fitness in Oak Lawn July 24 2:20pm-3-20pm a minimum of 5 lockers had their locks cut and money taken from wallets and pockets. I told the desk attendant and asked him to call the police. He called his manager and shushed me several times. I called the police on my own. When the officer came I had already found the cut locks and asked suggested to the attendant that someone working for them was probably who had access to the bolt cutter large enough to gave cut my lock and it was not likely that a member was able to bring one in large enough without being noticed. He ignored that as well. It was quite a busy day in the locker room. Who else would have gone in noticed!? I learned that 3 lockers last week and 2 lockers the week prior were breached as well. By the nan who had his broken into twice. I also learned they both make and female lockers were broken into. We should all but those cheap magnetic cameras and place them in the lockers to get a picture of the person doing this. I intend to do so and have it on record to my iCloud! After the thief is found out I will start at a different club. Just be aware!! The worthless manager just blew me off that it was my own fault for bringing valuables into the club!!! Can I rate Planet Fitness at negative stars? Welcome to the worst fitness place in the world! If the broken machines that take weeks to fix doesn't get you upset enough they also have their massage chairs and hydro massage bed going out every other week. If that isn't enough well then maybe the ridiculously cold changing rooms will get you upset! Not bad enough you say? Well then how about the cold showers that for some reason ( even after they've "fixed" their hot water heaters ) still are freezing cold! Need a handicapped shower with a handicapped stool? Guess what? Nobody can find the stool. After the shower was taken the stool was found in a maintenance area and as they brought it out said "I hope it's not broken". But I don't blame the employees. In fact I don't even blame the incompetent uncaring managers at this point. It's been going on for months and even the employees are embarrassed by it. They are the ones BEGGING disgruntled patrons to tell corporate. The management at this facility doesn't care to handle these issues properly. I blame corporate for allowing the Planet Fitness culture of not caring and indifference to flow down into this facility. If corporate doesn't care why should anyone. It's been going on for Months people, MONTHS!!!! As I was taking a cold shower I repeated a mantra over and over again. I kept saying "F&ck this place" during the shower, on my way to the dressing room, all the way through the gym until I reached the employee/entrance desk. Scummy and dishonest, don't sign up with this gym they will scam you. I signed up with their no commitment plan and they threw me on their 12 month plan. When I tried to get out of it 2 months later the clerk called me a liar and said It was my fault I was in the 12 months. Oh did I mention I had to pay a $60 fee to quit the gym because I get roped in that 12 month. They barely have any machines in there other than treadmills so it shouldn't even be a gym. But is feels super crowded with all the new additions. Like there's no where To stretch. Feels so crowded with all the machines. They need to expand the place or reduce some machines. So! I would like to clarify things. This is my first official gym that I have joined, but by no means am I a mere novice when it comes to physical fitness and staying in shape. As you could see by my pictures, some might say that I am a modern day "Irish-Germanic" Adonis. Even still, I strive to achieve perfection as well as attempt to set good examples in my local community. Cue in Planet Fitness. I first went as a guest about a month ago with my dear sister. I have to say that beforehand I had no real intentions about joining. I was planning on running around like a madman, doing furious bicep curls with ten pound pink neoprene dumbbells. Oh, I did them. That and so much more. Planet Fitness isn't for your serious weight-slugging, knuckle-dragging, grunting, weight-slammin' muscle-head. In fact, they take some action to prevent that. They have a 'no lunker' policy, or something close to that name. There is even an alarm if somebody comes in slinging weights and talking trash to peeps. I'm not kidding! You can get in a good workout, both with a decent amount of free weights and machines. They have plenty of treadmills, those fancy ski-lookin' thingies, and stationary bikes as well. Also, if you want to do laundry on your newly acquired washboard abs, they seem to have a whole section focusing on nothing but abs. Grrrr! So, back to my initial visit. I liked this place well enough to join myself. It is the casual gym I've been looking for, and is also a 24 hour facility. Plus, if you want to work on your mean tan, or get funky chair massages, you could do that too! Customer service has been nothing but stellar for me. They are always friendly and polite, and answer any question that I've ever had. If there's something effed up in the gym, letting them know will get it resolved quickly. I recommend this place if you're looking for a no-frills, casual gym to get fit without getting hit too hard in the wallet. Huzzah! read more

I came in as a guest. My friend is a "black card" member, and he went in to tan while I worked out. First, the worker Caitlin was extremely rude to me for no reason. Extremely negative and monotone. I've never had anyone sigh, roll their eyes, and have such an angry "don't want to be here" look on their face towards me in my life at an establishment. I forgot to write my number where I signed in as a guest, and she nearly threw the clipboard back at me and said I'm not allowed to work out there unless I finish it. RUDE. Then, some guy was mopping RIGHT UNDER MY FEET when I was on the chest press machine! He got my shoes and socks wet! Didn't apologize or anything! RUDE. My friend said the front desk people completely messed the order of tanning up too. Someone who came after him was given a tanning room before he got one, even though he was waiting first. They absolutely DO NOT WIPE DOWN THE EQUIPMENT AFTER USE!! It's disgusting watching these guys go from machine to machine and never wipe them down after use. Where is the staff you say? A while ago I was diagnosed with sever osteoarthritis is both hips and it had a huge impact on my mobility. I tried to cancel my subscription at planet fitness in Oaklawn. Originally there was a way to do this online but due to COVID-19 they removed it to stop people from unsubscribing and required people to send in a certified letter along with a reason for unsubscribing. The same reason why I wanted to unsubscribe in the first place. Mobility issue prevented me from going to the post office and sending a certified letter. I also tried the phone hoping someone would understand. Wrong again! They still wanted my money. Today I finally got to the location face to face so they could see I wasn't lying, I can barely walk! They cancelled your subscription no problem but I'm still out of quite a few dollars. So no, I have nothing against the machine because they are beneficial for people, but the ownership and management of this place, you get a big fat goose egg for your humanity and a bug thumbs up for your greed! I love this gym. I've never worked out alone before and it isn't intimidating at all. I look forward to my workouts here and contrary to other reviews I think it's very clean. Almost every weekend or at least when I come in it looks like they do a deep cleaning of the machines and floors. Keep up the good work. One complaint is that they don't abide by some of the rules people are often working out half naked kinda uncomfortable. read more

I have been a member for almost a year. This location is clean and the staff is pleasent. I have never had a problem with using a machine or other members. I workout 4-5x a week. The only reason I might switch to xsports is because I would like to take some classes to change up my workout routine. Planet Fitness is a standard gym. You get what you pay for. I just recently obtained a membership here and have been coming for maybe a month now... The place is clean. When I go overnight, the staff is ALWAYS cleaning the place. Wiping down machines, vacuuming, moving machines and cleaning underneath, doing the floor, etc. It is a nice change. I used to be at XSport where you would think the staff didn't know what a mop or broom was. It's a nice change. So far it's not an Easter egg hunt when it comes to weights. Things seem to be kept pretty well in their place. This is also a nice change. Only quirk I've seen. They hand out this rule sheet and they emphasize when you get a membership that the rules have to be followed, they can terminate memberships, etc. Signs everywhere also say no boots, no jeans, no string tank tops, no "intimidation," etc. Yet you will very frequently see people working out in jeans, working out in boots or slip ons, string and very small tank tops, flexing in the mirrors or grunting like a moron. Not that I have a huge issue with these things, but what's the point of emphasizing the rules if you aren't going to follow them or enforce anything...? Other than that, it's a good gym. I travel out of my way to come to this location. So much bigger and you're not exercising on too of other people. Even though it is spacious, could use a few upgrades.. the women's locker room needs some TLC! I have been to another location, and their locker rooms looks like spas! I started coming to this gym a couple weeks ago and I was hesitant because of some of the reviews and past experience with other 24 hour places. But I wanted a place close to home that was 24 hours and did not charge an arm and leg. I have not been disappointed. The place is incredibly clean for being 24 hrs, no funky smells or any bad smells in the locker room or on the main floor. Staff have been nothing but nice. Basic machines and equipment but they work and seem to be taken care of. The only "complaint" I have is that I've seen people wearing jeans and boots while working out and this is against the dress code rules. I could care less what people wear but only that it appears to not be enforced here. Overall I can not complain at all for $10 a month. Very happy with this gym. read more

I was pretty impressed with this facility at first. I usually use the Washington Square location but my new job training facility is near here; so during my lunch I've been coming here. Last time I went was yesterday and the girl already remembered me and handed me a clip board to sign in on and asked for my gym number. So my work uniform consists of boots, tan work jeans, and a polo shirt. I wear a tank top under and usually throw my polo shirt in a locker and put in a quick 45 min workout. Some guy gave me crap a couple days ago for wearing a "wife beater". The corporate uniform indicated you cant wear "string tank tops". That's not what I was wearing but I had one set to finish up so he let me finish. Then yesterday I got kicked out for wearing boots, jeans, and my "wife beater" (as he called it). I knew I was in the wrong about the jeans and boots but I don't have time to change and all that. Is my boots and jeans really hurting anything or anyone? I don't use the cardio equipment so there shouldn't be an issue. Stupid PF Corporate policy. He was the only person to give me an issue; everyone else was pretty nice I guess, no issues. He must be after that employee of the month. But I left without any issue, it's not that serious; well to him it was. He must get off on making sure people are following the uniform policy. It's ok, won't be going back here and neither the Washington Square location since they went from a 24/7 place to a 25/5 Club. Doesn't work with my hours. OH! And I was blocked from the Planet Fitness Facebook page for saying I got kicked out for wearing jeans, boots, and a "wife beater" and that the guy must be after the employee of the month award. Went in to cancel membership, was told by a manger, who signed my cancelation of the membership as manager, that there would be no further fees to cancel my membership. only to find out that this morning, they charged me a "non refundable" canceling fee. When I asked the manager, Becky, this morning for a corporate number, she advised they don't have one to give out. LOL, what a joke. Becky is a horrible person with a snotty attitude, horrible management skills. They also have one of those "hey criminals, we are unarmed" signs in their window. I came to this gym for a year and loved it. When my membership was about to be up, i called to make sure I wouldn't be charged after my year was up. The guy on the phone assured me that my membership was canceled. Now, $200 and 5 months later, I'm just noticing they have been charging my account this whole time. I called and the lady said there was nothing they could do because I apparently was supposed to cancel in person or in a letter. So now they aren't taking responsibility for their employee who obviously doesn't know their procedure while I'm being charged for something I thought was cancelled months ago. I've only been here as a guest. Planet Fitness isn't close to me and does not have equipment I used weekly at the gym, which is fine. One thing I found odd is that a guest pass is $20! Chain gyms with nicer amenities and a wider variety of equipment will let you work out a few days free, or one chain gym I am familiar with charges $10 for one day. I figured since it was planet fitness maybe I could go with my cousin for $5-$10. The equipment is up to date, I just hate the bright purple, but if you are a powerlifter or enjoy using the barbell they do not have that equipment. If you really think you'll join, the $20 from the guest past at least goes towards you enrolling. read more

I love this location! I've been going to this gym roughly for about 2-3 years now and I have not once ever had an issue. I've tried going to other Planets a handful of times and I'm never satisfied. I also travel over 25 minutes specifically just to go to this planet. The staff here has always been so nice and they're always cleaning. I'm not joking.. there's literally always someone cleaning. I've come at all hours of the day and cleaning stays consistent. As for people not wiping down machines.. I feel there's not much else staff can do other than what they already are.. I constantly see staff wiping down machines.. I've been in business management for over 10 years now and honestly this place is doing great. There has recently been a lot of changes to the gym so it's been a lot busier than normal but it doesn't seem to be an issue thus far! Keep up the great work ! read more

I wanna say I like this place and most things are ok but a big reason I liked this place was for the 12 minute abs and the 30 minute workout section. I thought these would be great for my son and my wife as well as for the days I just want to get in and out. Forget it!! If that's what you wanna do it's not gonna happen. People just sit on these machines and sit on their phone or take their time refusing to move when they should and no one seems to care. Every time I've tried to use it the same thing happens and even when you ask them to move they don't and the staff does not seem to monitor this at all. It's very frustrating. You should not have to get into a confrontation every time you want to use these areas. Either enforce the rules like the signs say or just get rid of the areas altogether. Its ridiculous read more
