I'm just going to be honest here. The owner is a wonderful man, and would do anything for his members. Let me start there. The location is convenient, and easily accessible. It does get crowded, so plan accordingly. The gym is huge, and offers a lot of options for anyone. Crossfit equipment and classes, yoga, strength training, bodybuilding.. Theres an entire area dedicated to cardio equipment. The bad... The staff for the most part are not friendly. The desk doesn't say hi or goodbye most times. There typically isn't any towels available. And a couple of the desk workers are very lazy. There are a number of trainers available. Some are nice, and most are not friendly. Once you get to know them personally they are nice, but don't expect to feel "invited". Nearly uncomfortably the opposite actually. By a couple of the guys, and 2-3 of the gals. The equipment is older, and in need of upgrading. Most machines are partially broke, not smooth or have been modified to work. It does give that "old school" feel, but at the same time I ponder getting a tetanus shot when I leave. One of the mens bathrooms is gross, and needs to be remodeled. The main one is nicer, and clean. The owner cleans like a maniac, but that's about it. A few teenage boys clean on the weekends, but they really can't be expected to do well (it's 2019 so..). I wish he had a service for this. Cardio equipment... half work, and half do not. I mean they run, and you can use them. But things like Heart rate, TV, handles, pedals.. those things are breaking daily. All in all, it's a great place to get an old school workout in. So many different areas to do different workouts, the setup is great, and I like the old school equipment mixed in with all the newer equipment. Most of the equipment works very well and there is a variety of equipment to choose from. The only issues are the overall cleanliness of the place. The bathrooms are disgusting. The showers are never clean and neither are the sinks. For the amount of money I pay to go there, the bathrooms should at least be clean. I join Body Tech in 2003. At the time, I ran a fitness center in another city, but wanted a place to do my own workouts. I was continually amazed at the cleanliness of Body Tech and that any equipment that needed repairs was quickly fixed (unlike the gym that I ran that had "out of order signs" for days or weeks).18 months later, I loved Body Tech so much, I joined their team as a personal trainer. It's uncommon in my industry to stay at one gym long term or work solely at one facility, but that's my story. I've never left Body Tech or worked anywhere else- for 14 1/2 years!The family atmosphere, amazing facility and programming, friendly and encouraging staff makes BodyTech hands down the best place for me to work and workout. I thought this was a great gym when I was going. The sign up was easy and they had good equipment. I canceled because I moved to another part of the state and it was a nightmare. I emailed and called. Then I had to talk to the right person to cancel. I emailed them to cancel and they said I needed to submit a form - why this couldn't just be sent to me by the first person I have no idea - so I emailed that back and then mailed as well just to cover all my ends. Yet, I am still being contacted by them about my membership. What's more, I had to change my debit card because of fraud several months later and I'm still being asked about my monthly membership payments? Why? I know there is a 30 day cancelation which I ate TWICE because they couldn't email me the form right away. So needless to say I'm still living this nightmare with them. I'm sorry but going to a major gym like xsport or LA is much easier than this; even with their own minor inconveniences. read more

My recent with encounter with Steve Tomczak, owner of Body Tech Mokena was very disappointing. I had left two voice messages on March 20th asking for my membership to cancelled and requested a callback if there was any issues. I never received a call back and when there wasnt a charge on my credit card from April through June, I assumed the cancellation was processed. So I was surprised to see a charge my credit card in July. I went to the facility and spoke with the front desk clerk, Lisa (who was very rude). She mentioned the facility had been closed for 3 months so members were not charged during the closure. She also mentioned that management responded to all messages and if I had left a voice message I would I received a call back since management was still working through the lockdown. I asked to have management contact me since I was certain I left voice message. A few days later, I received a call back from Steve saying he returned all calls and if I did leave to voice messages he would have returned my call. He also reminded me that their policy requires completing the cancellation form and giving a 30 day notification period. Well if the gym has been closed since March 19th because of the state wide mandate to help curb the spread of COVID19, I felt leaving 2 voice messages would suffice in these unprecedented times. Knowingly that I had left messages, I reached out to the phone company for a call log which showed that I had called twice on March 20th ( first call last 1 minute and second call 2 mins). With this transcript, I called out to Steve the second time of August 12th. Steve said there was no way of him knowingly what I said during call so he was not going to refund the $74 charged on my account for July and August. He asked why I didn't send a written notification. But he could have returned my call to state that an email was needed. I felt very conflicted because I truly enjoyed the classes offered but very disappointed with how Steve handled my request to cancel my membership during the pandemic read more

Okay the music has improved slightly and even tho the towel situation isn't ideal, I recently was wiping off my face after working out and realized it smelled really clean. Additionally, every time I am there, so is the owner and there are always people around cleaning. There is also a real sense of dedication to his dad which I find endearing and my takeaway is that this is a small business owner who cares about his business. He's always there--it's not an anonymous corporation with random employees who may or may not care about the job they're doing. You can tell he cares a great deal about his business and that goes a long way. The place feels like someone cares about it. read more

I love Body Tech. I think it's the best gym in our area and has so much to offer. My only compliant is the front desk. Usually when you walk into a business you are greeted with a smile and feel welcomed. Most times I walk in, I don't even get acknowledged. Most the time they are staring at the computer screen with a sour look on their faces. Not the first thing I want to see before my work out. The only one that seems to always be in a good mood and greet me with a smile is a blonde girl with long hair. She always seems so happy to be there. The other workers, I'm not so sure. read more

This is such a great gym! They even offer a variety of classes such as pilates, yoga, zumba etc. The staff is very friendly and inviting. They also have healthy drinks that you can get while you are there that are decently priced. The parking lot is kind of small but besides that it's a great place in my opinion. I was so looking forward to my experience at Body Tech after reading the great reviews on this site and I don't like giving bad reviews; however, I went to Body Tech for the 21 day trial and was completely disappointed within my first 15 minutes there. The girl at the front desk was very rude and overwhelmed with 3 clients (including myself) who were in line. When I was able to speak to her, she was annoyed that I wanted a tour of the gym and that I had questions. I told her that I would be happy to start the trial another time if I could not get a tour on that particular day. She signed me up anyway and told me to hop on a cardio machine and that I may not get a tour so I should familiarize myself with gym. What a waste of my time! The purpose of a tour is so that a gym rat like myself can hit the ground running. When I expressed my disappointment, she showed obvious annoyance and finally did get a trainer to give me a tour but I was so soured by the experience that I declined. I was seriously considering a change but have decided to stay with the always friendly and comfortable atmosphere of Charter Fitness. The first person you see at the front desk is the most important person in any business. I think that Body Tech needs to reevaluate where they position their staff. read more

There's something here for everyone! And considering the 21-day trial and the price of membership (which is far cheaper than its competitors) it's definitely worth giving it a try. The staff is fantastic. From the front desk to child care, this place is family-run and prides itself on great customer service. Whether you're a class person (Zumba, spinning), a crossfitter, or someone that is looking to work out independently (with or without personal training), the folks at this gym will make you feel comfortable and welcome. My only "complaint" falls in the locker room, which desperately needs to be updated. That said, it's a gym! The focus should be on the equipment and workout facilities, which are great. Another plus - the staff tries to keep all of the free weights / plates organized. Unlike the rather large gym down the street (LTF) that is overrun with obnoxious 20-somethings who seem to think their moms will come pick up after them, you can actually find your weights at this place! :) read more

The cycle class is a challenge for a woman my age and it took some conditioning. I always feel comfortable and don't feel pressured or like I'm in a meet market. My bottom has certainly reaped the benefit of these workouts. Lol. They do offer towels which a few clubs do not. The towels are always limited. I think they need a laundry service. read more
