I had an extremely disappointing experience at the Planet Fitness in Frankfort, IL…read more This was my first day returning to the gym after having my baby. I came in excited to unfreeze my membership, update my payment information, and sign my husband up for a membership. Instead, my husband and I were treated with disrespect from the moment we asked for assistance. A young female manager with black hair and brown eyes (whose name I couldn't get because she covered her name tag when I asked) immediately seemed to misunderstand my request. She began explaining that memberships could only be frozen for medical or military reasons, even though I wasn't asking to freeze my account--I was asking for help getting my account active again without any billing issues. When I tried to clarify, her attitude became increasingly unprofessional. She then called Avery over to assist. Unfortunately, instead of helping resolve the situation, Avery adopted the same dismissive attitude. Both employees were rude to my husband and me. At that point, I explained that we had originally come to work out and sign my husband up for a membership, but because of how we were being treated, we wanted to cancel instead. While they were looking up my account, I received an exciting message regarding one of my investment accounts. I mentioned that I had "flipped" an investment. Somehow, this led to me being accused of taking pictures of the employees. I was shocked and very uncomfortable by this accusation. Avery stated they believed I was taking pictures because they heard me say "flipped." That explanation made no sense and left me feeling unfairly targeted. When I asked the young manager for her name, she responded by telling me, "You need to chill," covered her name tag with her hand, and walked away. Avery stood by her, defended her behavior, and even stated he would not help me because she was his friend. My husband and I left feeling embarrassed, disrespected, and like we had wasted the little free time we had together. We came in prepared to continue supporting this business and even purchase another membership, but instead we left deciding to cancel. I expect employees--especially managers--to treat members with professionalism, courtesy, and respect. This experience fell far below that standard, and I hope Planet Fitness addresses how members are treated at this location.

It was super easy to schedule an appointment via text and they were flexible when I needed to change times. The shop was easy to find and located in a strip plaza with plenty of parking. The employees are friendly and I promptly met Jade who provided my demo. I liked that there was not a ton of paperwork to complete before or after the appointment and that they did not do a "hard" sell to pressure you to enroll that day or lose enrollment discounts (a tactic I experienced at iLoveKickboxing in Orland Park). I didn't actually like that all clients are in one big room together, so you can see and hear what's happening with others during your session. The demo stretch was good and I can see how it could make a difference going consistently over a period of time. It is a bit pricey for the average person if you want a weekly 50-minute session, but there are other options available. Overall a good experience.

Actual facts are in the fine print of the contract making it hard for their management to take any accountability for their actions. What was told and sold to me was different from actuality. I came in to cancel my membership once businesses started opening-up from quarantine. I filled out paperwork and the woman told me my cancelation would be effective right away. That my last time to come in would be 8/17. She also told me I wouldn't be charged. After a couple of days, I noticed a charge on my account for the monthly membership. I called in and spoke with Anna (who really had no empathy). I asked why this was and she said it takes 30-days to cancel - that it's on your contract that YOU signed. I can't give you a refund because you signed it. WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC. Some of your clients feel uncomfortable coming in and some have high-risk people at home. While I understand "contracts" and business -- it seems like business and money are more important than the community that is coming in to give you the opportunity that makes you money. Spenga should take another look at how they go about customer service and hire people that can empathize with our world's situation right now. Not everyone has the cash to freely spend at this moment in time and it feels like they are just stealing at this point. I will never come back here again. There are plenty of other gyms that offer similar services.

This club used to be Charter when I joined way back when and use to go to after I got off the train…read morefrom my commute downtown from my office. After two shoulder surgeries and being retired in December of 2021 decided to finally get back to my fitness regimen. Being a United HealthCare AARP member and getting my membership paid for by them decided to join without taking a tour of the club. After joining other than having Alfie as my fitness gurus who is in the process of getting me back in working order - very dissatisfied at the state of this club. Pads on machines are worn and could be easily replaced, men's bathroom/locker room is deplorable. I don't think it has been cleaned since I left charter. Smells, sewer flies all around, the mats in front of the showers haven't been picked up and cleaned 'most likely for years'. The ADA shower has the bench chained to the wall - for a older person or disabled person who would have to use it is impossible. The bathroom is a a mess - totally disgusting. The shower curtains are the same ones that were up when it was Charter Fitness years ago. Put something on top of the lockers and it was filled with dust and items left by members which was never removed or cleaned - locker are a mess inside - need to be cleaned. Totally disappointed in this club and would not recommend to anyone and would not rejoin - I only hope I am able to train with Alfie to continue regaining my fitness goals . Why spend the money to put in a useless sauna (one person fills it, two is a joke and three forget it) when the money could have been spent on cleaning and revamping the locker room so that it is sanitary - try paint and a thorough cleaning. Just to note: If you expect future members to join - forget about useless saunas and make your main concern cleanliness, general maintenance of equipment. Membership next year to this club is doubtful unless there are some major changes. Get rid of the infestation OF SEWER FLIES IN THE Men's BATHROOM and finally give it good scrub down, remove/replace the mats in front of the showers, so that a person can use without being infected by some bacteria. Totally disappointed in the state and cleanliness of this club - I hope that this review will change the manner in which this club is kept clean and maintained. If not, I will not rejoin and for prospective folks interested all up to you. But if remains in the manner in which it is I will not be back. Take a tour I wish I had - just remembered it when it was Charter Fitness years ago and the club was kept up.

The classes are taught by really great, enthusiastic, non-judgmental instructors who genuinely care about you and your goals. It can be a little intimidating walking into any gym and even more for gyms that focus on traditional combat sports. I can without a doubt say that as soon as you walk in the door at Patriot - you are immediately treated like a teammate or close friend..... ....trying out a class on a free pass and don't have any hand wraps or gloves? Don't worry about it! You have a staff member giving you a new set of clean wraps and gloves. ....don't have any idea how to wrap your hands for protection? No problem! Your hands are getting more attention than they would at a day spa in Paris, France! ....not sure how to throw a jab or where to put your feet? You'll be shown proper technique and balance so you can move like Danny Terrio ....think you might have gotten yourself in too deep half way through the class because your body is sweating and shaking like James Brown circa 1967? You haven't gone too deep and have really great people around you who are encouraging without sounding fake about it Patriot Boxing in Mokena is a shock to the mega-gym industry that only knows their members by account number and their success by quarterly earnings. I've been waiting for a boxing gym to open up locally-- and I was so glad when I saw Patriot open…read moreits doors. The classes offered at Patriot give you an awesome workout and I really enjoy it. I had taken a boxing class at another gym, but it wasn't nearly as intense of a workout as the boxing classes offered here. The boxing classes aren't instructional boxing classes- they're more fitness boxing cardio with boxing elements in it. Any level of fitness can jump in the classes, and the classes are totally a mix of people. Guys who were seemingly super fit were sweating right along ladies in their 40s with weight loss goals. I'm almost 30 and trying to get back in shape. There were some younger girls and older guys, too. The people taking the class are always nice, too. None of the guys in the class have ever made me feel like I shouldn't be there. I will say this-- once the class starts, I'm so focused on getting through it myself that I kind of have tunnel-vision for myself. The other people are there, but I'm in my own head as I give it my all. Some instructors spend more time on the bag and doing different moves/combos than others, but there always is SOME bag time in the boxing classes and you usually have a decent mix of doing other circuits/exercises to get you in shape. You're moving non-stop and sweating the ENTIRE time. I liken the experience to getting on a roller coaster-- it's a little scary, you're nervous, not entirely sure what to expect, but once you get on it (or start the class) it's time to go. You can't get off (well, I suppose you could leave the class, but who would want to!?) and you just keep going. Before you know it, it's over. But it was awesome, worth it, and you can't wait to do it again. For actual boxers, they do offer sparring and some mma stuff where you actually box people if that's your thing. I don't really want my face messed up, so I stick to the classes with the bags. They offer open gym, though I've never needed to take advantage of it (classes multiple times a week take care of me). I imagine someone who is actually training to box would love it, though. They also do kick boxing, but I like to stick with just regular boxing. The instructors are super friendly, encouraging, and kind. If you can't do an exercise in the circuit, you can easily do a modified version without ridicule. They're offering more and more classes since they opened and seem to be open to community feedback to make sure they're a gym that can stay. I hope they do. I love it.
