Sadly the Planet Fitness in Plainsboro consistently has broken equipment and poor building maintenance. 1) 3 TVs have been broken since October 2024 (staff told me they submitted a ticket back in Oct), and they are still not working as of Jan 14, 2025. 2) The ceiling in the lady's locker room has leaks in 2 spots, hazard tape & a pail with dirty water, and it has been like this for at least a month. 3) The gym floor has bubbled in multiple places including where I need to walk, and I've been told this will not be repaired for several YEARS! I'm remain concerned about possible mold, mildew and tripping hazards. Price and location, however, are just right. Not crowded in the early morning and very polite membership. Really not a fan of this location. Staff is stand-offish and not at all helpful. Quite a few machines were out of service. The biggest issue here though is the locker rooms. The men's locker rooms and bathrooms are completely disgusting. The shower was closed off with caution tape (that had clearly been up for awhile!), yet somehow the entire floor in the bathroom area was damp, and not in a freshly mopped sort of way. The most disconcerting thing was the putrid odor that permeated the whole place. If you've ever thought to yourself, "I wonder if sewage can get moldy?" then this is the gym for you. I didn't even bother checking out the Black Card Members area. The only thing this location had going for it was that it wasn't the least bit crowded, but considering what I saw and smelled, I'm not surprised. It's large, it's cheap and they have a ton of equipment that always looks lonely. Sure, the equipment is packed in but it's rarely crowded and even the upscale clubs are a waste if all you do is make a donation every month and never go. Plainsboro is the land that time forgot so if you're looking for room to stretch out and aren't interested in getting into an MMA cage match with an earbudded d-bag hogging a machine, this may be a decent alternative to those annoying gyms located where people actually live. As soon you enter this gym you get a warm welcome from front desk management. I have been to multiple planet fitness locations and I would say this is the most clean, well organized and much more equipped locations than the rest I have been too. You can always find someone on the floor from housekeeping throughly cleaning and maintaining equipment. The bonus of this place is the back room with the tower and Trx where you can have extra room for your workout routine. Long time gym goer. Since the summer teen pass came out, it's been crowded like crazy in the late afternoon to evenings. I'll give kudos to the older aged teens who actually work out and use the machines properly and have fun etiquettes. But the little kids that are not working out, hanging out in groups taking up the machines, not doing workouts properly (surprised employees watch and not say anything, someone will hurt themselves using the machines or dumbbells wrong). I've been overlooking the chaos since the summer program started but it's to the point where these group of children are taking up space, doing TikToks, sitting around on their phones, using all the dumbbells at once or even interrupting reps to other adults. I've seen these same children take pictures, bully old age adults and use every machine longer than intended. I would hope this gym cleans up the childish behavior from these kids or at least give the benefit to those kids who are taking advantage of the opportunity instead of using the space as a social grounds. I beg this center to supervise the children better, otherwise it's just a playground and the paying customers get poor service. read more

The Plainsboro Planet Fitness is a good gym for a bargain price. You can't beat paying $10.70 per month, which includes taxes. There is also a yearly maintenance fee of $29.99. And depending on when you join, they may charge a processing fee. There are plenty of treadmills, cardio machines, weight machines, etc. They also have a circuit for 12 minute abs, 30 minute workout, and stretching. The facility, locker rooms, bathrooms, and showers are always clean. The staff is friendly and usually greets me on my way in and out. As a perk, first Monday of the month is pizza night and the second Tuesday of the month is bagel morning. This may seem counterintuitive to working out, but everything in moderation I say! The only negatives are that for payment, they only bill directly from your bank account (no credit cards or other forms of payment are accepted.) Make sure you have your account number and routing info to join! Also depending on which employee you ask, you will get a different answer for questions. Keep that in mind. read more

Given the price, and the newly built quality, this is a great gym! It has all the equipment you need, so many cardio machines, showers & lockers, and is clean! Can't go wrong with that because you're not waiting around for machines. The staff may not know so much (such as changing channels, or certain conditions of membership), but they are really great at maintaining and cleaning the equipment. I've gone at all hours of the day, sometimes twice a day, and I see how much attention the staff pays to cleaning the equipment. Premium is so worthwhile since you can go to any other Planet Fitness and it's so inexpensive. read more

I've been a member of Planet Fitness for nearly 2 years now, and they're pretty much uniformly organized/designed. There's a specific blueprint to these gyms that works for no-frills workouts in a relatively clean and easy going environment. I've gone at both early mornings, afternoons and evenings; that said, it can be pretty busy during peak times 4-7PM, so my preference is that morning pre-7AM time. Much less wait time involved, especially on weekdays. Pricing is simple, as has been stated in previous reviews. This is the gym I go to every week for my workout. If you're looking for a place to start an intensive strength training regimen, then this is not the place for you. It's a basic gym with basic equipment, but it gets the job done. The gym itself is clean, and there are hours were it's not as crowded. The staff is friendly. The ad said that the deal was running from 9/5-9/13 at the Plainsboro location and the Hillsborough location. The staff told us they were not offering the deal until 9/11 and they could not honor the advertisement with their address on it. They told us the manager hadjust stepped out and would be back shortly, but they said there was nothing they could do. Planet Fitness of Hillsborough, NJ: Not a fan any more. I moved about 25 minutes away five years ago and kept going when I could. The place is always clean, the equipment in good repair and the staff is always friendly and helpful. James, specifically, was very courteous when trying to rectify why the cancellation confirmation I did on 10/4/20 was not coming to my Gmail. It never did arrive, though at least I got his verbal confirmation. Big lessons learned for me, though. This club uses your checking account and it's aba routing number to pull your fees. That means if you ever cancel and things go wrong there, according to my bank you're not getting that money back. ***The Planet Fitness Customer Service # 908-240-6041 has a voice mailbox that is full.*** Covid-19 is on, I am not comfortable working out there during this and because I cancelled on 10/4, they are apparently going to get to keep the annual fee for the coming year they hit me for on 10/1 because I did not cancel by 9/17. I am a black card member and can go to any planet fitness location. Never have I ever had to sign a sign in sheet for using a different location..until now. The first impression that stuck with me on this location was the unfriendliness of the front desk person, then she just handed me a paper and told me to sign. Not telling me what I was signing. The gym itself is pretty nice, big clean mirrors, clean machines and facilities. But when I went to shower, ew the shower curtains were moldy. Well, I FINALLY was able to cancel my membership with Planet Fitness. I am only giving 2 stars because of the cleanliness of the gym, and because they are open 24 hours a day, so the extra star is because of convenience. As for everything else, I'd give a half star. The staff is not just rude, they are uninformed as to how the machines and equipment should be operated, they also have little to no idea of what is actually happening in the gym. Repeatedly I told staff about broken/inoperable machines only to receive a grunt (if that) as a response. They don't understand the policies in their own gym. I was a black card member, which entitles you to certain perks, such as use of massage chairs and beds. I would go to use the chairs after a work out and I was told that they were for black card members only (even though I was a black card member). I'd make appointments when I came in to use the chair after my work out, but lo and behold when it was my time, you'd have other members in the chairs for an additional 10-15 minutes. What is the point of scheduling appointments??? When not grunting in response to things, the staff tells you only what you want to hear, but they aren't actually paying attention. Getting out of this membership was difficult, and full of rude people, but it finally happened and I feel free. I will never again sign up for a gym because the cost seems great. You get what you pay for here, and since the prices are low, so is the quality and personality of the staff. Never again. read more

Great gym if you intend on just getting your "Wellness" up. If you have a any intentions of starting an intense workout regimen this is not the place for you. Never go to this gym between the hours of 4-9. You will not be able to do a proper workout with the amount of people there. As for the staff? Everyone that works their rather be somewhere else. This is a great location! I've been a member at the Ewing location and decided to transfer membership here for several reasons. This place is CLEAN. No dust on the machines and people seem to clean up after themselves. Showers and locker rooms are also spotless. And the showers have curtains, not those half-transparent glass door Ive seen at other locations. Hair dryers in the bathrooms too! Staff is friendly and helpful from my experience. The "lunk alarm" hasn't once gone off, which is nice. Music isn't blasting; it's a pretty nice volume. And the machines!!! So clean, all very new and well maintained. The workout floor is huge, so all the machines have room around them which I like. One thing I like a lot is that the weights area isn't a "man zone" like it is at a lot of places. Given COVID, I would suggest all the doors should be open so as much fresh air is coming in as possible. We know it's airborne. People who are exercising won't be cold provided they are working and not on their cell phones. Staff can wear an extra layer to stay warm. I will say staff is doing a good job. Lastly, I would like to see how often the contents of the bottle are being prepped, by whom, on what date and what the concentration is. Alternatively, it would be better if you use commercial grade bottles that are prelabeled and filled at the factory who sells it. The type of product you're using is generally only good if properly mixed and dated. It doesn't last forever. I do have some concerns.... read more

I belonged to planet fitness approx 4 years. It was new so yes it was clean and staff was very attentive. There was always a full time gal cleaning equipment daily. Most ppl did clean there equipment they used when done. But now after COVID that I'm sure will be mandatory. So I did leave PF; went to another gym with "classes". For the most part classes were good. In that gym you had to wait for equipment as a barrage of trainers were with their respective clients and made us always wait for them to be done. This was painful. So now that I can compare, PF is much better as they do not allow trainers! The Equipment is never out of order. Will be returning to PF and do my classes at home with live streaming, YouTube or Amazon Prime. Again all staff at PF were professional and at the same time friendly. Covid gave me the time to reflect over this. I gave it 4 stars as the ladies locker room has an odor which may be from the flooring. read more

This place is MASSIVE. There are multiple nooks in this place that add the space you'd imagine in a huge fitness club, but you're paying a fraction of what something like that would cost. The sheer amount of machines in this place is impressive. I can't imagine ever having to wait for a treadmill or an elliptical. The stretching room is huge, and has some pretty cool machines that I've never seen in another PF, so they get cool points there. The black card area is more high-tech than I've ever seen, ever, in any gym. They don't use the coin system like other locations, rather a computer to remotely turn on and off massage chairs. The locker room and shower area were both big and clean. There were multiple showers, more than a normal PF and they were all stocked and all clean. I came pretty late into the night, and towards the end of my workout I was the only one with just one male employee...and I felt safe the entire time. Kudos to that employee for asking if there were females in the locker room before going in, because the gym DID look and sound empty especially while I was changing in the locker room. My hubby just joined the gym and I must say, for $10 a month, you really get your money's worth. For $20 a month, you can bring a friend any time. I decided to go with him to check out the place and it really is different from the typical "meat head" gym. For one, the music is soft and the people are quiet. No grunting here. Secondly, it has everything you need for a good workout without the frills. Lots of treadmills and cardio equipment, but none of them have direct monitors to watch tv on. Instead, there are a row of tv screens facing the cardio equipment for you to watch. The locker rooms were clean, but their showers only have a curtain, meaning you don't have any private area to undress before going into the shower. They do have other amenities like massage chairs and a hydromassage table for black card members to take advantage of. Another plus is that the people that work there are pretty friendly. read more
