The staff was great, friendly, and surpassed expectations. Really impressed with the attention to details that get lost on some owners. Organizing of the barbells, weights, etc., signage, PR/motivation board, giant Wodify screens were all nice touches. Not to mention that they probably have the best bathrooms. We picked up a three-day pass for $35, which was a great value for visitors. This is exactly the kind of locally owned gym we love supporting when traveling. Luckily I found Fitness On Broughton! I called in and the gentleman explained how the pass worked. He was very clear and patient. When I arrived, I filled out a waiver online and paid the $25 fee for a 1 day (24 hours) pass. They've got lots of cardio (rowers, bikes, treadmills, etc.) equipment as well as free weights (dumbbells, olympic rack, and various bars) and machines. In addition, there's a room where various classes are taught. I might have been interested in a class but my timing didn't work out. Overall it was a great experience so Fitness On Broughton could probably meet all of your workout needs.

He seemed to be intense and want to nickel and dime for ever last penny which ended up costing him a lot more than the 16$ day pass we would've gotten "free". Just go to your apt gym or another one. This YMCA didn't provide me a breakdown of what my toddler was going to go over. I didn't even know that was a thing until another YMCA gave me a welcome sheet at the first class! They set the standard high. It's summer, so there are a lot of people and summer camps, especially with it being a noon class. They could definitely increase the seating area for parents, and put more shaded areas. The pool is a little tight. The kids water play area is awesome, for babies and older kids. It's not a terrible YMCA, but it's definitely congested and I've experienced better instructors and customer service elsewhere.

I hated walking through the treadmills as if I was being judged and I'm in fair shape. Cons: even though it was opened up/remodeled, the free weight area is still a tight space and you still have to learn to walk around and not hit someone in the head with your weights. The worst: the YMCA officially became the Y a few decades ago. i.e. there are women here and the goal became to not be so beat you over the head with a bible. I am a Christian and go to church faithfully. And yet, this place hired a chaplain. Why? And why for incredible amounts of $$$ with benefits and a car when it's supposed to be for the community at large? For over $100k, there are far too many things that are needed: more stuff for the elderly, disadvantaged, poor, children....... more trainers that help all for no cost. I find that the full time staff ignore most of the people including the elderly. Richard in the wheelchair is the only full timer (?) that talks to everybody.

I tried this stretching program for the first time and experienced immediate results from my first…read moresession! I will preface this review that this was a free introductory session they offered for a limited time. THE PROCESS You lay on the table and the stretching coach does all the work to stretch you out. They strap you onto the table so they can pull on you without pulling you off the table. There is one stretch where they grab the arm on other side of table and then pull that arm across to twist you sideways at the hip....OMG....that was my favorite! It stretches your arm, shoulder, core, hip and leg all at once. ATMOSPHERE There is one large room with multiple tables. You are being stretched while other people are being stretched. Since this was my first visit, I wasn't nearly as flexible as some people there. It was truly impressive to see how far the coaches could fold back the legs of some of those clients! RESULTS AFTER ONE SESSION I immediately felt different when I walked. My hips and lower back were loosened up! It was truly amazing! Without repeated stretching the muscles tighten back up. They recommend a 12 week program where you come once, twice or three times per week. The per-visit cost is less when you sign up for more visits per week. TIPS - Wear loose clothing that will allow you to stretch. This is not the time to wear your tight jeans or restrictive shirt. - You can split a program between two people. For example, a couple both can purchase a program to visit twice per week to save a little cash, while each person uses one of the two visits per week. STRETCHING VS MASSAGE They don't offer massage but I compare since some people get a massage to loosen up their muscles. The stretching feels good but it's not relaxing like a massage. However, I found the results from one stretching session to be more productive for loosening up the body than massage. COST I found the cost to be less than a massage, but I don't get massages weekly. I didn't opt to continue the program because I couldn't afford it personally. However for those that are able, I believe you will get good results from a 12 week program! Only reason I gave it 4 stars was that I found it to be priced a little more than most can afford.
