This review is primarily reflecting on this particular location, the franchise overall, and will be written from a comparative beginner's perspective to other facilities I've used in multiple states. It will concentrate on a delicate spectrum of quality and value. The Good: In my home state of California, and most states in general, one can easily spend a combined $100 a month on a combination of massage parlor memberships, tanning salon memberships, and gym memberships. At planet fitness, you get all three benefits (minus a live massage therapist) for the unbelievable price of $21 and change deducted from your checking account every month for their black card all-inclusive Membership. This fact alone is amazing in terms of value. You do pay an annual membership fee but I think it's only about $45 each year, and divided over the 12 month year, it only puts your actual membership at $25 and change monthly. Still an incredible value. What I like about this gym; simplicity. No surprises, simple machines, broad spectrum of hours of operation (most of them 24 hours I believe), and friendly environment. Gyms automatically face a stigma of being "dirty", and there is some truth to this no matter where you go. You're going to a facility shared by other members and everyone's goal is to sweat; no brainer that it probably isn't the cleanest place in the world regardless of which gym you're at. I will say that every time I've gone to this Solon branch, I've never seen a person not wipe down the machine after they use it. Does it happen? Probably, I just haven't seen it. Plus it's a good idea to get into the habit of cleaning a machine BEFORE you use it, just in casies. The fact that planet fitness provides a rag and cleaner bottle hanging on EVERY machine is a huge plus to me. They put the power of cleanliness in the hands of their members in addition to going around every few hours and touching things up themselves. Overall, this place is the best bang for your buck in my opinion. The reason(s) I won't give 5 stars: There are a couple of reasons I won't give 5 stars. These reasons are primarily important to me, and not necessarily something I can see being a deal-breaker for other people. Your billing options are heavily limited. This is no bueno to me. Firstly, they bill all accounts on the 16th or 17th of each month (I can't remember which). And when I called to have this adjusted, I was unpleasantly surprised to learn that your billing date cannot be changed or adjusted. At all. Not even canceling and signing up on the date you want to be billed. They simply don't permit any other billing date. This is highly inconvenient for those of us who budget money and autopay all bills either at the beginning of the month or at the end of the month. You've got this one bill coming out in the middle of the month. As a consumer, I like companies that hop on the bandwagon of giving their clients more control over what time of the month they pay. Second, they only take one form of payment; an automatic bank draft from checking accounts. This is a very narrow, limited option. While I can understand from a business standpoint it's the cheapest, I would gladly pay an extra $1-2 per month to cover a transaction fee for my bill to come off my credit card instead. In a world of earning points and miles, this would be far more convenient. I was a little surprised that along with bigger commitments like my car payment and my student loan payments, my gym membership also had to be drafted from my checking account. Just seems too restrictive and unnecessary for a $22 monthly charge. Anyhow, that's my take on this gym. Planet Fitness, if you're reading this, give us more options for billing if you'd like 5 stars from me. Until then, overall, you're still my favorite gym thus far. read more

Went regularly until a crew member decided my shirt was vulgar. I went and changed and some shithead kid hehind the counter started trying to make fun of me about the shirt, saying how much they love the new one. I asked what comedian from kill Tony they liked and they said they'd never seen the show. I signed up July 29, 2025 and my first experience with Planet Fitness was poor. I reached out to inquire about my membership and experienced an unprofessional, seemingly immature, argumentative and combative manager who could have handled this situation in so many other ways. I imagine the 2 stars given to this location received online were truly earned. This franchise owner can thank his manager Dilly, for me canceling my membership, in just 24 days after signing up. This place went down hill fast! They have one person working while the rest are on their phones. The place is way over crowded and complete chaos. The new machines and weights were poorly placed adding to the congestion. There is no oversight or apparent management. You can basically do wherever you want in here. Total decline as the pre pandemic team seemed to actually care and took care of the place. The locker rooms are cleaned by the same person who does a great job but it appears the rest of his team can't follow in his absence. So you're lucky to walk into a clean locker room once a week at best. read more

Lately the staff is incredibly rude and disrespectful to patrons. They are never at the desk to help you, or if they are, they are too busy on their cell phones to ask how they can help. I was treated so rudely today because the girl working at the front desk had to get up from sitting on the couch by the tanning beds and actually help me. Luckily PF memberships are transferable to other locations. It would also be nice if they cleaned the filthy tanning bed rooms and monitored the 30 minute express workout as the signs claim they do. These are supposed to be for those who want to do the Express Workout, not sit at the machines and text on their phones while other people are trying to use them. read more

This used to be a nice gym to go to. Nowadays there's a lack of cleaning equipment (towels/spray). The staff could care less if you are there and are more focused on their cell phones. If you're lucky to receive a hello or goodbye then it's because you interrupted them from their banter. Great gym to pop into and grab a quick workout without having to wait for equipment. Now that I'm in my 50's this gym is a good fit for me. Friendly staff, clean tanning beds and clean equipment make it awesome. I had to retire the string Tank tops and leave the gallons of water at home like I did in the 80's and 90's so I don't get gonged. Lol read more

I just recently started coming here on my lunch breaks to squeeze a work out in during the day. The membership is cheap, the place is clean and they have a ton of variety and it is in a really convenient location. They have plenty of cardio machines such as treadmills, bikes and ellipticals. They only have three stair climbers, which is my favorite, so sometimes it may be hard to get on one of these. There is an ab/stretch room and a 30 minute circuit room. Plenty of free weights are available and there are tons of different machines. The staff is great and it is always easy to get in and out. read more

Every Planet Fitness is different, and so I choose to evaluate them individually. My expectations weren't high when I visited this place, but even then, I was disappointed. It's inexpensive, but that's pretty much the only thing going for it. I think that even beginners would be better served elsewhere. The weights selection was abysmal, with barbells only going up to 60lbs. An adult male, even a beginner, should be able to progress beyond that after a few weeks. Heck, I know many women who would find such weights insulting. It may seem like a lot if you're just starting out and only doing barbell curls, but for presses, squats, and many of the more functional exercises, it's ridiculous. When I asked my guide about this, he explained that they don't cater to bodybuilders. Supposedly, this also explained the lack of a squat rack or bench press station. I had to point out that such exercises are by no means the exclusive domain of massive bodybuilders -- that even high school students work out this way. These exercises are, in fact, some of the best ones that beginners can use to get in shape. Much of their signage was also pretty insulting to the aforementioned bodybuilders. So much for being a "no judgement zone." If a company were to say the same things about overweight people, the uproar would be deafening. The bottom line: This may be cheap, but you get what you pay for. If you want results, I recommend going elsewhere. If money is tight, check out Anytime Fitness, Snap Fitness, or other budget gyms instead. read more

Horrible customer service! I had been going as a guest with my husband (which I paid extra to come as a guest every month). After 2 weeks of going very rude lady says that since I'm a guest I have to sign in. All I asked is how come I have been coming I haven't had to sign in before and she told me "if you want to get smart with me you can just leave". I was beyond shocked that someone who is working customer service would speak like that! I then asked for her manager who was standing right behind her listening to her speak like that and she proceeded to tell me "I'm the manager and you can leave if you like". I am sorry but I have never been treated like that at a gym. If you would like to be treated like that at a gym I would second guess where you take your money. This is only for one person. She has black hair, dark skin tone, looks about 5'5", I don't want to describe weight.. I went in for my workout because I can only leave work for 1 hour in the mornings. Anyway, I forgot my water bottle and wallet in my purse that was left at my job. I went to the cooler and stood in line. Mind you I had just gotten off the stair stepper so I was dying waiting for the lady in front of me to be done. So I took a sip of the $1 water bottle before I paid, sue me. When I went to use Apple Pay, it did not go through. This has happened before but I usually have a card around. Apple Pay has never worked here when I've tried. I have money on credit card, which is connected to my Apple Pay and I use it all the time. It works. I even showed her my credit card app after the fact to prove its not on my end. Now remember, I only have 1 hour. My workout is ruined. She continues to tell me " first of all, you're stealing" after I tried giving her a $1 bill "and we don't take cash" ok, so now I'm being called a thief over something like this, I can't do my workout, I tried to pay but their machine doesn't work and now they are refusing payment of a legal tender even though the reason I can't pay is because of PLANET FITNESS'S technology working. So if you don't accept my cash when your machine doesn't work, that's not illegal. You refused payment of legal tender so the debt is paid in full. Thanks tho booboo, if you don't wanna accept cash then fix your machine. read more

PF has awesome bang for your buck. The trainer for classes is really kind and attentive, and the facility itself is pretty huge and has everything you need for a great workout. My only complaint is that compared to other PFs I have been to, this one is a bit smaller so sometimes you wait for machines. Otherwise, a solid and friendly environment. read more

When my husband and I went to sign up for Planet Fitness it was our understanding that it was a month to month membership. As we wanted to look around and also a friend of mine was telling me how great this place was...? I was still asking questions about how they kept it clean, etc...also they started telling me if we didn't like it all we had to do was give them a week or two notice then they would stop removing money from our bank. Later we found out my husband has cancer this past Sept. 2016..I called to cancel our membership but was told we signed for 12 months? The day we went in to just "LOOK AROUND" I told them we would think about it...and I didn't have my glasses...so the guy that worked there sat us down at a table, my husband was speaking with a friend...and he was telling me on this pad of some sort what to touch...I couldn't see anything. I told him so...he was actually using the touch pen to hit for me...I only signed my name. So basically this is a type of fraud...just now calling to get the contract either faxed or sent in a PDF FILE THROUGH EMAIL SHE SAID SHE DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO WORK THE COMPUTER...I ASKED HER TO ASK SOMEONE ELSE...TRULY THEY CAN RIP YOU OFF BUT CAN'T WORK A COMPUTER???? Would be nice if paper towels were used to clean the equipment instead of a towel. The same towel is used by all. An option would be to provide clean towels at each station then the used towels should be placed in a to be washed laundry container. Overall it is a nice place to workout besides the towel issue. read more
