I'm gonna write a different review for Parkway athletic club South Reno yesterday May 29. My mother fell on the sidewalk outside of her gym. She landed on her head one of their customers found her went back inside and contacted management. David Jacobs the general manager came out and took care of my mom who had an obvious head injuries. He would not allow anyone to move her and called for an ambulance. I don't know if the outcome would've changed but what he did help protect my mother and I am so grateful and so is the rest of my family. Parkway is great at maintaining their gym locations and they maintain a good atmosphere. Sad to say I have received rude treatment at other gyms around town, but never at a Parkway location I tend to use the gym much more often during the winter when outdoor adventure is a bit chilly read more

Very nice, clean and friendly gym! It's not your average meat head, roids market, social media posters that were here.....it's the serious ones and focused individuals. The staff is very helpful and all their equipment are top notch! I was given a free day pass since I'm visiting family in Reno. I would join this gym if I lived here. Had the week off for the holidays and attended an afternoon zumba class which was loads of fun. Easy to follow the instructor and the floor is a wooden gym style floor, so very easy on the hips and knees. This gym is by far the nicest gym in Reno and bypasses it's competitors which have maybe newer furnishings. This gym is clean, well maintained, and even the gym goers have a different attitude and respect for peoples and property. The equipment is well maintained. Pool and jacuzzi are clean as so are the shower and changing room areas. read more

We joined Parkway after attending an open house/member appreciation event and enrolling our kids in the aquatics program for swimming lessons. The aquatics is really why I'm giving the gym four stars and not three honestly, as it proved to be a rare occasion during which we could actually use the gym due primarily to capacity and staffing issues with the kids club, a key amenity for working parents, and a lack of convenient group ex classes, which I personally seek out. On the aquatics, our two-three year old was in the baby swim program and our older son started in private lessons. Our little one got familiar with water in baby swim, but he really lost his fear at home with brother in the tub, as he watched him practicing dunking his head in and holding his breath. The baby swim program didn't have much structure and or instructor interaction, and I felt like it was mostly up to me to advance my child's progress. It was still beneficial on some level, but most of the children in it were younger than mine, and I would've put him in the lessons sooner but couldn't due to age restrictions on them. The private lessons were great for my 5 going on 6 year old. He did fantastic with Abby, and on the off chance she wasn't there, he did well with Rian and all the other instructors he had. They all have great regard for their students and know how to push them in the right ways. He got familiar with the water elsewhere and then went through about 20 weekly half hour lessons and was swimming proficiently and safely after about 6 months time. We are now re-enrolling the younger one in the private lessons to get him across the finish line and we're excited to see his progress. The gym and locker rooms are very clean, and they have all the equipment you could need, however I found this facility to be geared toward those who are interested in working out independently and not entirely friendly to those who prefer group exercise. I had a hard time finding any classes that worked with my schedule as a working parent, and on the occasion I had to go with my kids in tow, I found that all the other parents had the same idea and I was not able to access the kids club so I could get some time in. All in all, it wasn't the facility for me, but it may be for you. It's certainly well appointed in the equipment. read more

I joined Parkway to take classes. I also wanted to do the swim classes but they have too many people so I don't feel comfortable with that. The weight machines are not the easiest to learn to use and nothing like the gyms I have attended in the past. If you are starting out after a long long break it is best to get help. I do like the fitness classes and attend those regularly. We have a huge class with lots of participation. The gym is fairly clean but the restrooms become a mess after just a few hours especially after the swim classes with water all over the floors. Someone needs to check on it more regular. The locker room is small for the number of people that use it at one time so I avoid it. But a person has to go in to wash hands or use the restrooms. My biggest grip is the railings to the stairs as they are always sticky and makes me uncomfortable as germs may be lingering. I use the wet wipes they provide and thanks for those. I think it is important that when someone signs up that they are not bothered to work with a P.T. I got calls over and over and I was not planning on going that route. A firm "No" should be understood. read more

This is a great little gym! It's a good hybrid between hardcore grunt gyms and the socially friendly, quiet gyms. The staff is friendly, and they provide chalk (which is a big deal for powerlifters!). Dumbbells go up to 120 lbs, and they have a deadlift platform. read more

Simply put, the music in the gym is TOO loud. Over half of the patrons are wearing earbuds or headphones to attempt to drown out the annoying and intrusive loud music. I don't know if the managers are indifferent or just clueless. The ambience should be for the benefit of the patrons who are a very mature age during the day. I know they don't want to hear it. It's not a dance club. The staff should know better. I know a couple friends of mine took a walk around and decided not to join because of the noise level in the gym. Please turn it down. read more

We absolutely love having Jasmine as my son's swimming instructor! She is amazing - so kind, patient, and always encouraging. My son Alex loves Jasmine and feels so comfortable with her, which makes every lesson enjoyable. At the end of each class, she comes to us and shares how he did, which we really appreciate. Her dedication has made such a big difference in his confidence and progress in the water. My nephews also take lessons here, and we are all so happy with the program. The kids truly love their instructors. Miles, Katie, Landon, Trinity, and McKenzie are all wonderful too. We are very thankful for such a caring and supportive team! read more

This gym is Piñata. Dirty rooms. Boys in ladies locker rooms. I tried personal training and experienced a full scale unprofessionalism. Not only the price they are asking is overly high ( I paid $550/month - 2 sessions per week) but there is absolutely no quality of service. Gym staff seems to like to take all money they can from you but are not willing to work with you on your needs. Trainer makes a decision when the training session will be, no interest in your goals. I did not experience a change in the workout for months. Three trainers have changed in 2 months. Overall experience with this gym is horrible. Everything is against you as a member. I would also recommend to ask on all hidden fees, cancellation fees and any other fees upfront. read more

What a gym! The staff is great. Very friendly and knowledgeable. I go to the gym everyday. sometimes twice a day. I've lived all over and ive never seen a gym so clean. all the amenities work very clean. The General Manager is always on the floor walking and talking to people. that great to see. The staff and trainers really go over and beyond. There is always something going on. From karate classes to swim lessons. This gym has everything except a tanning bed. Honest review: Dealing with Fred Hayward; general manager as I received bad news regarding my health, Froze my membership. Have it used it 7 months and as I understood it. I would have to unfreeze. It well I find out Fred when I had and charged my account 2 months. When you're ill the way I am.My bills have increased a thousand percent this year and fifty dollars makes a difference. This general manager is going back-and-forth with me about it.No consideration for my situation. All about making money. There is no real customer service anymore. I am so disgusted with this situation that I have to deal with now.Among everything else. read more

A member for almost a year now and still very happy with this gym. Big enough that it doesn't feel crowded. Never have a problem with use of free weights, smith machines, treadmills and cycling. My favorite place is The Field where there's Nordic machines, punching bags, rowing machines and a large area to move around and stretch. Lots of classes from Zumba, Body Pump, Yoga and more to accommodate my schedule. I had a really great experience visiting Parkway Athletic Club today. There were so many great things about this club. Thank you Myles for kindly showing me everything about your club that makes it so special. I came in to swim and the pool was clean and the temperature was perfect. Not too cold. The spa was clean and bubbling but sitting on the spa seat was not enjoyable. It was rough and not smooth. It snagged my new bathing suit and that was a bit upsetting. I feel this beautiful club puts so much thought into the classes and equipment they offer but is forgetting about the most important part of relaxing in the spa.... Just sitting on a nice spa seat while getting relaxed with bubbling jets. I truly believe the spa seat should be refinished and made nicer to sit on. This is so basic yet forgotten. Please fix the spa seat as well as the ceiling tiles that look rusty or water damaged. If these forgotten items get fixed, I would give this club a 5 star rating. The membership is pricey but worth the money if the spa seat gets fixed. The women's locker room was nice and clean with places to change. I enjoyed my first swim experience. I didn't exercise today, I just came to swim and sit in the spa. I actually belong to Fitness connection in Sparks and their pool is always freezing. I can't wait to try a class or swim here again. Going to try and be constructive here. Today, we cancelled our family membership. I joined this place when it was Double Diamond Athletic club. This was back in 2006 when we moved to Reno. It was a bit pricey, but state of the art at the time. Mike Shirley was the owner but sold the place during COVID. Things went downhill after the sale. They don't fix the lockers. The soap dispensers in the showers often were not filled or were simply missing. Either the sauna or steam room was often out of order, and many of the machines were not completely functional. Just the other day, I was on a treadmill and got an error message when I tried to increase the incline. For $98/mo. for the wife and I, this isn't worth it sadly. The place is less than 2 mi from our house, but the decline in quality is sad. Hopefully they invest in this place and turn it around. read more

Myles, one of the front end managers was fantastic and answered all of my questions about all of the offered programs and membership options. Michelle, one of the Stretch techs is always ready to great you with a big smile and offer the free introductory stretch session, and wow what a difference! Leg day has nothing on me now!
