Normally I'd give my gym of 7 years here 5 stars but today had the misfortune of meeting a new employee named Carmine manning the desk. I have the black card membership which allows me to sign in a guest. My daughter's home from college and she used to be a member but now I just sign her in as a guest to work out. I scanned my phone and said I needed to sign her in. Carmine said I had to send her an invite link through my phone to hers. I'm glad she had the phone on her as she almost left it at house. So I had to go into my phone app, pull up planet finish, go into black card then request a link and then send to her phone. She opened up link and then had to register her name but then nothing. It Asked her to join. We showed it to carmine who said he didn't know why it showed that. It wasn't what she should have received. She needs a liability waiver. I did it three more times with same result. By now I'm frustrated as my husband already working out and we're standing at front desk on phone sending links back and forth between our phones. I'm telling him it's obviously glitching. Can I just show her drivers license and she fill out a written form. She's 18 years old. He says no, it must be done through the app. I said the app is not working and I'm here to work out. I pay for a guest. We are going to work out while you figure it out as it's glitching. He said he didn't know how it works but we would not work out without us being signed in through the app. I asked for a manager. I know Christine as she's been running this planet fitness for years and is incredible. But she's off for the holidays so she wasn't there. But when I asked for a manager carmine said it wouldn't matter anyway bc he was the one trying to help me. He said it very sarcastically. At this point Trayvon sees me and recognizes me and says is everything okay here? I told him no, trying to sign in and carmine can't get us in. By now carmine has taken both our phones and pressed buttons trying to see why it's not sending the proper message but again admits it's weird not- "hey go on and work out." I get my phone back and another guy comes up and asks for my phone. At this point I'm like, so I'm just supposed to hand my phone to you too now ? and no one will just let us work out? The guy does something on my phone and a QR code pops up. I'm supposed to hand my phone now to Peyton who then can sign in. Note. She never got any liability waiver or QR code to her phone like carmine said. But at this point I'm just over it and we walk away to work out. But no quicker had I turned my back then I hear carmine talking about me to Trayvon and the other guy at the desk with members around. He was basically saying I was in the wrong and bad mouthing me. I was already several feet away and could hear him. I turn around and say to him. "You need to stop talking trash about me. You were incorrect as she never once got a liability waiver yet that's what you said she had to have to sign in." He told me he wasn't incorrect and to step back behind the line. I look down as I'm to the side of the registration desk expecting to see some marked line. Nope- no line. He's loudly saying- you need to back up. You can't come in here. First I wasn't anywhere near him. Second it's a counter, not a barrier. Third, I'm 5 feet tall and 110 lbs. I don't think I'm an imposing force he needed to try to yell at with members around telling me to stay behind some imaginary line. I'm appalled that a gym I've been a member of for over 7 years hires a person who berates it's members like this. I'll show below the counter with imaginary line. What can I say? It is planet fitness. I paid 25cents to sign up and $10 a month. Probably the cheapest gym membership I will ever find. You always get what you pay for. What are the pros other than its cheap? Well, it does not ever get super crowded. Its opened 24 hours, 4 days out of the week. There is plenty of parking. Staff is attentive when arriving. There are plenty of cardio machines. Weight machines are decent. The bathroom and showers are clean. And they have bathroom and showers lol. The cons. Well, I have not seen a lot of workout bars for free weights. They serve pizza once a month ( I don't need that temptation). That lunk alarm is annoying as all h*ll. They even ring it when the gym closes. And no towels (but for $10 a month towels are not expected). Despite an even number of pros and cons, I have to give them 3 stars. While finishing the last of my cardio yesterday, the tv suddenly turned off. Now this is five minutes before closing and about 1.5 minutes before my cardio session ended. I asked to keep one channel on, but my request was denied because apparently its part of the protocol, or the rules, to turn them off 5 minutes before closing. Honestly, I call bs, but if rules are that strict then I think it is a problem. It may not be the staff's fault, and she could have been following orders. but she could have literally done the 20 other things that needed to be done before closing (assuming) and returned to turn off that one channel. Why am I so annoyed though? They were literally about to announce the winner of Chopped. Now I will never know. read more

Since I joined this academy, I haven't been one day. First the attendant lied to me, saying that if I didn't like it I could cancel it. Suddenly, PF debits my account every month, automatically. I cannot access the app to cancel. I called a few times and no one answered my call. And now, I'm seeing so many complaints here, which lives up to the dishonest tasks attitudes that you omitted and lied to me that I was obliged to stay 1 year to cancel. I would like to cancel, please. I am out of my country and will only return in January or February. I no longer want to pay the PF that I've never used and that wasn't honest when it came to meeting me and presenting me only good things, which was a big lie. PF is a white elephant. read more

Lots of complaints I've heard about Planet Fitness. I personally couldn't care less if they serve pizza once a month because I don't starve myself like too many health freaks do. What's wrong with free food once a month? Sounds like a pretty ridiculous thing to complain about to me. The lunk alarm isn't the worst, I mean, come on - do you really want to hear people yelling and dropping weights? I can understand being frustrated if they enforced the alarm on someone who made a small amount of noise but I highly doubt that happens, and in the 15+ times I've gone I've not seen it happen once. The idea is to keep those new in their fitness journey comfortable as well as unintimidated by those who are super experienced. The staff are generally friendly, and the fee is more than reasonable. No masks, no problem. So far has been a great experience for me as someone starting afresh in my fitness journey. Someone else complained about their inability to set their bag next to their station - to them: that's what lockers are for, you goose. This location has served me well so far and I have no complaints other than the occasional creepy guy, which is easily fixed by finding a new station. I like that people need to clean the stations after use, I personally prefer not sitting down onto someone else's sweat. read more

I've had a great experience every time I visited this gym since signing up nearly 2 years ago! Always clean, friendly staff, and well maintained equipment. What really set them apart for me was when I called tonight to ask about cancelling my membership. I recently broke my right foot in an accident (unable to drive, let alone exercise) and manager Mike helped me find a solution to modify my account until I am able to return to the gym. Honestly out of all the gyms I've been too this is the only one I've had problems with. By far not returning I've been in the process of moving and not from here so I've had to use this location temporarily while waiting for my house to close and I've been treated so rudely by some of the staff. read more

Seriously disappointed for a couple of reasons: 1) They didn't have the air conditioning on or any fans going so the air was stale and humid. 2)The "black card" area consisted of three back massage machines out in the open, which is laughable. No hydro massage, no red machine, no couches or lounge. 3) No place to stretch or warm up. read more

Hahaha! I stopped in to see the gym and find out about a day rate (I was only going to be in Stuart for three days). Greeted by two employees at the front desks. I told them that I was in town for a few days and ...before I finished my sentenced one of them just started shaking her head at me and started saying "no, no, ...." So I finished my sentence and she said "you want to just come in and work out? No, no..." Then she walked away. Lol! So the friendlier girl at least smiled and I then said "do you have a day rate?" And she said they did. $20 per day. (Monthly membership is $10) So .... A dark ugly gym with at least one slight creepy front desk employee with a $20 a day visitors fee ... LA fitness on route 1 is huge, bright, super well equipped ... With a POOL... For $15. Golds Gym had a $35 weekly or $15 a day and the staff was super friendly and welcoming. Womp, Womp! read more

She would speak and ramble on while walking in front of me so not only could also not hear what she was saying. Always kind of thought it was polite to look at people or make occasional eye contact while talking to them. Planet Fitness is called "The Judgment Free Zone" and I have to admit that that description is pretty much on-target. I've been a member since January, and I have been here at all different times of day and have always been impressed by the diversity of the members: fat, skinny, fit, not fit, attractive, not as attractive, black, white, brown, polka dots....you get the point. I have never felt out of place or intimidated here. This gym is relatively new, so all the equipment is brand spankin new too - and also clean! There's an abundance of machines, although perhaps not every nuanced machine is here. There is also a really cool circuit training area that works out all your muscles in 30 min. I have never done it but it looks effective. It gets pretty busy after 5:30 or so, but clears out around 8 pm. The best time to come is early in the morning, later in the evening, or on the weekends if you don't want to feel rushed or claustrophobic. Also, there are no fitness classes here. However, I only pay $21.29 a month for the Black Card membership, which entitles me to free tanning (side note, the tanning beds - all 3 of them - aren't the greatest), the ability to bring a friend for free, and free access into any other Planet Fitness location in the country. The regular membership does not have those benefits, but costs a little less. Because of the small price tag, I don't miss the fitness classes too much. I just bike around my neighborhood with my dog Freddie for a change of pace. This gym is no frills, but I always get a great workout. read more

Everything you need 24/7. I get the same workouts at Golds and LA as I do here. The crowd is different of course, but instead of the meat head flexing in the mirror, you get the beginner who has no idea what they are doing. I find it entertaining to watch but I'm not Judging because that's not allowed at PF. :) As for some of the reviews I have to shake my head. Complaining about staff? Other than swiping your card what do you want them to do? Hold an umbrella while you sip on a pina colada... another post about what's on tv... really? Go home!! Membership is straight forward once a year BS fee in Feb/March like all the gyms. Watch for commitment or no commitment when you sign up. Bring a towel, leave the complaints or head to another gym for three times the price and limited hours. read more

The clientele is all types, but everyone is there to work out and not socialize; I think the employees set that kind of tone and it's a welcoming place. I've been a member for over 3 years and have seen at least three changes of management staff during that time. The personal trainer, Lenny, has been there through all the changes and is a great asset for this gym. The current, unsmiling manager is sorely lacking in customer service skills as are some of the staff. Many inconsistantcies here. Senseless moving around of equipment, warm water fountains, A/C and bathroom breakdowns all add to an unpleasant experience. The bathrooms aren't very clean and the urinals barely flush. It's location in a strip shopping center without a key store (formerly a Winn Dixie was there) adds to the possibility of crime. Several cars were broken into in broad daylight right in front of the gym a few months ago. The PF I went to before this one was far superior. read more

Completely ridiculous and not true to the company brand. My husband and I have been members for a few weeks. He is a weight lifter, so we were a little worried about being stereotyped. The first day we were there, he was approached and told that he was dropping the weights too loudly. He wasn't. The weights are heavy and hit the padded ground harder sometimes. He was trying to be careful, but that wasn't enough. We got over the awkward moment and continued going, making sure to be even more careful. However, today we were there and watched a woman dressed in a sports bra that was also incredibly low cut and a small pair of shorts. Even the employees agreed she was dressed inappropriately. The dress code sign says no string tank tops. She obviously had significantly less. Now this wouldn't normally bother me. I was working out at LA Fitness before switching here, and there are plenty of women who dress like that. However, she was not in there to work out. She pretended to do so by doing one to three reps of any body weight exercise and then stopped. She stood by the weight machines wondering what to do for a bit. Then she chose the elliptical and never broke a sweat. She then proceeded to pose in the mirror with a guy for literally ten minutes. Flexing and everything. For ten minutes straight. While this was going on, which was clearly in violation of what Planet Fitness is supposed to represent, the lunk alarm went off several times while a skinny male struggled to actually work out. He wasn't trying to attract attention to himself. I mentioned this to the employees, who agreed that it was wrong. One employee called the district manager, who told him they can't do anything about it. Funny, because I remember an article about how Planet Fitness kicked a pregnant woman out for showing less than two inches of her stomach. The employee told me the district manager said she would contact me regarding the situation very soon. That was earlier today, and I never heard anything. Their brand is a joke and obviously doesn't actually matter to any of them. I switched because it costs less and has tanning. I would gladly pay extra to stay at LA Fitness, where I never felt uncomfortable. read more

First time here last week, it's in a strip mall right off US 1 so easy to find. Plenty of parking even if shared by several businesses. Greeted by friendly staff in this clean facility.. Overhead TV screens set far back from the treadmills, otherwise fine with bright glass view. Plenty of workout equipment and weights. Not many people on a weekday afternoon, maybe weekends are different. Only three showers in men's locker room, but they are spacious. All lockers are the small one-over-another type, also have small holes so you can see clothing in them. read more

ZERO Air Circulation - ZERO Fans... Always warm and the air is still regardless of when you work out. Not sure how many have died in this place. Need to turn on the AIR CONDITIONER. It is NEVER ON !!!! The gym is dark, the cardio equipment is old and in dire need of updates. There is not one bike that works properly. The place needs a complete renovation. Lots of elderly people. Place needs to fix the air quality for starters, get new cardio equipment and hire management who have a clue. The only good part is the hours 24/7 and parking is ample. Take your $99 elsewhere. Honestly the rudest staff I've ever encountered. I cancelled my membership in the store and I kept getting charged. I called and talked to the young kid that always works the counter and he was nothing but rude and said it wasn't his problem. He admitted they had my email wrong which is why they couldn't cancel and blamed it all on me. I thought the customer was always right? I called plant fitness hq multiple times and they said they couldn't do anything since it was a franchise. Lol Ok. 6 months later and 20 phone calls my membership is cancelled. Honestly find another gym, I'm out 80 bucks due to the lack of Incentive and care this place has. Also hands down the dirtiest gym I've ever been to. Horrible colors but thats also something they're known for. They keep it clean and well maintained so thats a plus. You really can't beat the price tag either. So far so good with the FL location; and I'm perfectly content without having the classes because honestly, I don't need to pay for all that other fluff when I dont even use it daily. read more
