This is the seventh different Planet Fitness I've been to. Checking out all the locations that are reasonable distance from my house. This gyms are everywhere. They have lots of machines, it's much bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. All the basic cardio machines are included such as treadmills, bikes, and ellipticals. Also weight machines, free weights, and then a circuit-type training area. You can ask for help in using them or they also have instructions for use on the machine itself. They do have the "lunk alarm" as they advertise in commercials and I've been there when they've used it. It was kind of funny to hear, and appropriately used. Seriously, nobody needs to hear you grunt and yell and drop weights! There are paper towels and bottles to wipe down the machine and it seems to get used. However my husband says that the bathrooms can get dirty because people done clean up after themselves and maybe the staff doesn't get to it as often as they should. They have hand dryers there but for some reason there are paper towels all over on the floor. I don't notice this in the women's locker room. read more

I've been a member for 4+ yrs. I love this gym....and the franchise. Clean, friendly, plenty of machines and for only $20/mth! There is unlimited tanning, too. There aren't any extras here - pool/spa/etc. But, I never wait for equipment (treadmill, elliptical, crosstrainer...). There is also a 30 minute circuit training area. They do have fitness classes, but I've never joined one. Overall, great value for the small monthly investment in myself! read more

Tanning beds are well kept - they have 3 and a few massage beds as well. Which is nice. Didn't have any issue with a line or anything. Locker rooms were very clean and well kept. Nope. Never again. First of all, hate the layout. Super confusing. Secondly, there were a total of 4 weight benches in the whole place - 2 incline and 2 flat. I was constantly waiting for a weight bench. I have never felt I had to wait for things at a planet fitness location. Also, my normal location is under construction for a remodel and they still made me sign the stupid paper like I was a regular guest still. Really irked me. All of the staff is very friendly and wears their masks the right way. I am constantly watching them clean (which makes me feel very comfortable) it's very clean on the inside and all in all I feel very safe and comfortable in here. Within 3 days, my second visit and I cancelled my membership due to my 13 old son not carrying his birth certificate with him into the Gym, however, the day I started my membership, I worked out next to a guy with work boots on, a guy walking around with a string tank top on! This was my home gym for over 3 years. It has a decent selection of machines and weights. The tanning bed need to be updated as some of the bulbs have been out for months now. 3 cars were broken into tonight and apparently there's always cars that drove around the parking lots creeping around to see what they can steal. Please be aware and cautious! In my opinion, you get more than you pay for. For $20 a month you get a T shirt, half off drinks, access to a personal trainer, tanning, massages, and body enhancement. The only downfall is that you can not get the black card on a month-to-month basis. Beware the tanning beds. After waiting for a tanning bed to open, I asked if someone was going to clean the bed before I went in and I was told that the members clean it themselves. Had I not asked, I never would have known this. There are no posters or instructions posted saying that we must clean them. It's amazing that guy told me this like it was no big deal. So many diseases can be passed this way it's unfathomable. Make sure you always clean the bed before and after each use! Most people don't. read more

I've been going to this Planet Fitness on and off for about 3 years now and for $10/month, it is definitely worth it. There is enough cardio equipment (which was just updated) in that when it's really busy (5pm-7pm), there are always a few machines open. The staff is friendly for the most part, and it seems as if the WiFi is now fixed. It is always clean, which is a big plus. I have to agree with Rick's assessment. We moved across town recently and were already PF members at the Southfield location. We were spoiled for sure. The Warren location is sorely outdated. The equipment is old, ventilation is poor, locker rooms are tiny. Staff I have no complaints about; very courteous. Unless this gym goes through a move/major update we'll be making the long drive back to Southfield or switch to another location as home base. Looking forward the Utica location opening. read more

I gained some weight last year, which I've been losing steadily on my own, but I need some tone. Since I don't live in a safe neighborhood, I decided to join a gym last week, so I went online to see what different locations there were around me. This one had everything I was interested in, and a great price at $10 sign up, $10/month and no cancellation fee. I went up to the gym today to buy my membership and try everything out. Imagine my surprise when the membership had changed to $29 sign up, $10 a month and a $58 buy out if I decided to leave. I asked the staff if there was any way to match the other offer, which just ended on Tuesday. Apparently not. They did try to up-sell me to another membership I couldn't afford. The main reason I looked at Planet Fitness was the reasonable sign up and cancellation program. I could afford $10 a month. I can't afford the other program. I'm highly disappointed. Other places of business don't have a problem matching previous deals and offers. Being turned down flat on getting Tuesday's offer doesn't encourage me to buy the next cheapest program. I'm budgeting my money, not tossing it away. They're losing a customer and gaining a complaint. read more

Staff is almost always friendly and locker rooms stay clean. I'm almost always greeted on the way out unless they're really busy. Any questions asked are always answered nicely and they don't make you feel like your a bother. People kinda keep to themselves and don't stare. This is the worst gym I've ever been to. There are thieves creeping around in the parking lot.... I highly recommend everyone to go find another planet fitness elsewhere or cancel their membership and go to another gym. My wife car got broken into and they stole her purse. I called here to get some information. I wanted to sign up for a gym membership. I was hung up on twice. The third time, I was placed on hold for 10 minutes. The fourth time (same female who answered previously) got an attitude with me. I didn't catch her name, but she was African. How incredibly rude. If you're that miserable at your job, just quit. That's no way to treat a potential customer. I'd really like to get a membership here, but that experience completely ruined it for me! Planet Fitness, everything about your company seems great. This is BY FAR the cleanest and most up to date planet fitness I've been to. The staff is courteous and professional with positive attitudes. That goes a long way in this day-and-age. Whoever manages this particular location knows what their doing! Compared to other locations in the Metro Detroit area, this one is THE BEST and conveniently located on the service drive next to the express way. It is so clean! The other 2 locations I go to are just DIRTY with dust bunnies everywhere, broken machines and an interesting staff to say the least. Between 5-7 pm all gyms are packed including the traffic outside. There are no lines for machines and the crowd is very diverse. All ages and sizes. The atmosphere is non-intimidating and positive. I LIKE the giant ceiling fan, keeps you cool when running the treadmill. I'll be visiting this location on a regular basis. Thank you for keeping the gym so clean and immaculate! Makes you want to work out more knowing the gym doesn't smell like a dirty gym bag. Can't beat the $10 a month membership and 24/7 access. All the machines are in great condition, some are like new. I just wish all the locations had more free weights. That's the only thing that's tuff to get to/share. The only negative is that faded sign out front. Wish there was a pool with laps. read more

Yes the buidling is older and has a unique layout due to the actual structure but, this facility is pretty nice. Having transferred from teh Utica location recently I will say it is smaller and the parking lot can be a pain and yet, it seems less crowded. I usualy arrive around 1645 and have no problem making my cirucuits or finding an elliptical. The staff are friendly and the locker rooms are maintained as well as can be expected. Men in general are disgusting so don't blame the staff for nasty locker rooms. Everyone SHOULD do their part to be courteous and respectful with the facilities available. Some say the equipment is outdated, yet I find the same machines at any other PF location. They make the best of what they have and for $10-20 let's all have reasonable expectations. Make sure you know their weekend hours if you plan to workout in the evening. The facility is not 24/7. Overall I am very satisfied. read more
