This location rarely seems busy, mainly because of the amount of equipment they have here! My wife and I started going here after we moved from Royal Oak to Troy. The Royal Oak one we went to was chaos, so we were hoping that this one would be much better. We have been right so far. There's a lot of parking here, which is great and minimizes stress of getting here. You scan in like usual, and are on your way to exercising! They have TONS of treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes. They even have a few stairmasters. What I like the most is their "stretching" room, which we use for ab workouts. They also have two of each machine (arms, back, etc.) out in the main area. So far we really like coming here and are glad we switched to a big, roomy, and friendly location. read more

This gym only cares about taking your money, they don't care about their customers whatsoever. When I signed up to go to this gym in October I wasn't told about a $49 annual fee, nor was I notified when they were going to just take that money from my credit card. When I called the club to ask about this fee they didn't care because apparently it was hidden in the paperwork I signed to become a member. When I asked to speak with the manger she spoke to me very unapologetically and clearly didn't care that I didn't know about the fee. She questioned me about the name of the employee who signed me up, as if I could remember the name of the person I spoke to 2 months ago! Not only did she refuse to give me any sort of refund, she wished me a good day very sarcastically when I said I would never return to the gym and canceled my membership. I like this place the classes are intimate and at most only have 8-10 people and actually use the equipment on the floor. The staff is friendly and the hydro massage is Amazing! The facility is new and nice tons of equipment. And it's affordable! read more

I don't want to micromanaged about the shoes I wear. I wasn't allowed into the gym because I was wearing comfy shoes (Uggs). I told them I was just going to work on abs in the small side room. This never happens at other gyms. I walked into a different gym with same shoes and there were no issues. I drove 30 minutes to get to this planet fitness since I enjoy eating at the Mexican restaurant next door after I complete a workout. read more

Planet Fitness in Troy off maple- incredibly clean, all employees, including managers, constantly walking around cleaning, making sure cleaning agents are filled along with the paper towels filled. If I could give negative stars I would've but ones and understatement. I joined the club and purchased the Black Card Membership so I could use the guest pass for my younger sister. First day we went in, they checked us both in and only requested my ID, which I didn't think anything of since I was the card holder, they took our photos and that was it. Had a great time was there for at-least two hours without issues and left. Feeling pretty good about actually going for the first time you know? Second time entering, we both went to scan our passes and she'd asked for my sisters ID. Since we weren't asked the time prior she didn't have hers handy, even trying the Apple ID; in-which no luck and just told us to return with an ID. So we left, got back to the car and figured we would give it another try next week *like planned* and this time we would bring both ID's in case it was to happen again. Third Time Entering, We both have our ID's and passes ready; They take her ID and after looking at it for a few seconds pulls out a calculator and starts checking the year to see she was underage *clearly posted under 18 til ___* (16). She handed them back and still wouldn't let us in. Finally being tired of this back and forth I told them I'd like to cancel my membership since we cannot use the gym like we had prior without issue. The man sitting nearby stepped in and started helping me cancel the membership, my sister had said something along the lines of, " I just don't understand why this is such a big issue since he's here with me" and he looked up and stated that "It's not. they have logs that she hadn't been within THIS facility. Unless your parents come up here and give you permission, you won't be using the equipment" so my sister told him that our parents were deceased and he gave a very sarcastic "that's unfortunate to hear, then your guardian" then switched the conversation back to signing the pad to cancel the membership. (Side note, I have actual proof if this does somehow manage to reach someone in a office position, that she was in there. But not quite comfortable including them on here.) read more

Assistant manger and desk staff are rude and disrespectful. Consistently ignore customers for personal conversations and literally followed me out to the parking lot to threaten that they will be in contact with me for opening the exit door too hard. People have been hired here to feel like they are on a power trip and it is unacceptable. read more

I value the opinion of others and hold the belief that customer service should be the corner stone of any business. The staff at this location has always been nice. I decided to cancel my membership until Covid is under control. However, I will not be returning to Planet Fitness even after this crisis because I was charged for an annual membership after submitting my cancellation letter one day after the deadline. I would not have a problem with this if I knew that the fee was coming. The club manager told me that I should have been watching the news as it was broadcast that the Governor was reopening gyms. What does that have to do with my contract? Why would I assume that my annual fee would be charged right away? He said that the bottom line is that you will not be getting that money back. No sir, the bottom line is that you have lost a faithful customer for good! We are all trying to do our best in this horrific situation. However, I don't think that this is the beat that you have to offer. You may want to recoup lost revenue but this is not a good way to try and do it. I an truly disappointed but I guess you get what you pay for. read more

Two stars because this is a nice facility. However, if you care about your safety during COVID, avoid this location. I started coming back here again after I got vaccinated a few months ago, and I'm really glad I waited. People do not wear their masks over their nose, or will pull them down altogether after they walk through the door. There are no staff monitoring this behavior, and if they do notice they don't say anything. As cases rise dramatically, I'm beginning to feel very uncomfortable there. I highly recommend finding a gym that takes COVID more seriously. read more

I used to especially like this location, other than the music being loud, it was big and spacious and never off the wall packed, it has changed this month and will no longer be 24/7, it will still be 24/5 during the week but weekend was my favorite time to do a long late workout because im tired during the week, working. It wouldve been nice to leave at least one of the weekend days 24 hours, thats what made them special along with the cheap rate, i guess ill have to pay more and look elsewhere, enjoyed it while it lasted, dont know if ill stay much longer. read more

We absolutely love going to the Planet Fitness on Maple in Troy! The staff there, especially Chris, make everyone (young and old) who walk in the door feel so special, so welcomed, like we belong and we are part of a family! Most importantly, Chris' warm personality is a shining example of exactly the type of person any organization would want to represent them. I can't imagine going anywhere else! read more

Very beautiful, clean, and updated location. I really have to commend one of the employees named Devin. He has outstanding customer service and really makes it enjoyable to visit this location. Every time I come here he is extremely friendly, funny, and goes out of his way to be over the top helpful. Another amazing employee is Rachel. She actually worked at another location I used to work out at. She remembers me by name and that shows how good of an employee she is. Planet fitness is one of the best gyms out there. It's always clean and the waitstaff is always friendly. That being said the gym has lost of cardio machines, TRXs, and weight machines. This is a good place to go for a quick workout or just to lose weight. Whether you're a parent or out of shape athlete This is the place for you. It's lacking in the free weights department so if you wanted to squat, deadlift etc. you would probably be better off at powerhouse gym or royal oak gym. Other than the lack of free weights, it's a great gym read more
