I really love Life Time! I am seriously having a blast going swimming several times a week. That alone is worth the monthly payment. Although a bit steep at $75/month - there was no start up fees (New Years Special) and no contracts, so you can cancel at any time. The club is gorgeous, huge, clean, and the staff are very friendly. The staff talk to you like they've seen you coming to the club for ages, it's a very warm and friendly environment. They are very prepared in terms of Covid 19 - cleanliness, safe distancing, and all that jazz. I just really enjoy my time spent here! read more

There are some GREAT THINGS about Lifetime and some not so great...First the Great. They are very clean and have all the best equipment and lots of pools to frolick in. The Service is decent. Here is the Not-so Great..I pay well over 200 a month for both my wife and myself....OVERPRICED..thats 2500 per year...talk about inflation. I am over 65 and asked about the Silver Sneaker program...(they said they do not participate even though every other major Gym in the area does)..WHY NOT ? I am also a retired Veteran...no discount for that either..even though other gyms do. I am thinking of leaving due to the price.. but hate to do it since I have been a member for 25 years. We have been coming here for years and really love it. They are definitely a step above every other gym in the area. They do a fantastic job keeping the facilities clean and safe for members. They also have a pool, which we love year round. They have water slides and a fountain for kids and the lap pool is a great low-impact workout. We also love that they provide towels, shampoo and soap in the locker rooms. There are a variety of group fitness classes for every interest and fitness level that are included and many individual machines and weights. If you get hungry or need to refuel after your workout you can head to the cafe. They have a variety of tasty shakes and meals that are always a nice treat. read more

Horrible. I was a longtime member, who left because they choose to remove the racquetball courts for more BS yoga studios. How many f'ing classes can you have? Since then I've been brought in as a guest multiple times, and the place continues to suck donkey d**k. This place has WAY TOO MANY KIDS. It's more like a daycare with a gym, rather than the other way around. The only reason the place gets any love is because of the hard working staff at the salon; however, as far as gyms go you should look elsewhere to pay less money and get more out of a membership. read more

I been going to Lakeside Life Time since it open. I have enjoyed the staff and group classes. Jason Bryd, club manager, has loss site of the importance to keep political point of view out of the gym. Last month he allow a table full of propaganda clothing with "fight the flock" under the pretense to support independent thinking. Most of us know what is being said about COVID vaccination by non believers, "don't be a sheep...don't follow the flock" interesting that they chose those words, not "support independence...independent thinking..." there is so many other ways this could have been said. The first time the table was up Jason was off but I spoke with other managers who felt the same as me and had receive many complaints. Today the table is there again I approach Jason Bryd who said someone else just complaints, he did not hear our concerns and I find that he allow this again extremely unprofessional. When I said he received many complains about this the last time, he was nonchalant and said he receives alots of complains. I think it is important that this is not allow in our gym especially at this time when the United States is so divide. read more

Be Careful!! Make sure to not bring your wallet or money with you and put it in their lockers. Somebody in there that had access to their lockers (could of been a worker) stole a good amount of $ from my dad that goes there everyday. Totally unacceptable. The gym is awesome! The machines are working and the entire place is clean. The concern I have is with the reckless approach the sales staff take to get you hooked on the personal training services. I told them I wasn't working, and the response was for me to put it on my credit card. WTH if I'm not working how the hell am I going to pay an additional $200-$800 a month for training. The staff members don't know anything. Whatever questions I ask in regards to my account they always send me to a different person and that person sends me to another day when another manager will come in so it can answer my questions. Bottom line my problem is still not solved and my account is charged 120$ a month when it was supposed to be on hold and charged only $10. The people that work there are horrendously pushy and arrogant; I gave the experience a serious chance, but was immediately turned off (thanks Matt)! If you aren't 100% positive about joining a gym for +$75/month then don't even bother making inquiries or finding out more information because they will make you feel small as you leave the office without even letting you try the gym for 1 workout session before committing. DO NOT COME TO THIS LOCATION!! If I could give 0 stars I would!! My daughter put my granddaughter in the kids academy a few times and I am displeased to say the least!! The managers are extremely unprofessional and very rude. My granddaughter came home with scratches all over her from other kids, she got sick twice and the sickening thing of all is my 5 year old granddaughter came home to my daughter asking "mommy what's a h*e?" After THE ASSISTANT MANAGER said that to my granddaughter under her breath ! I've also noticed picking her up & as a Mexican women, many of the team members favor the white children and DO NOT give all children the same attention. I like this facility because it's close to my house but enjoy the location in Canton better. The service here is good and the facility's are clean but Canton is bigger and has more to offer with the outside pool and lots of chairs to lay out and tan. The equipment is the same and always the latest and greatest which is one of the main reasons I've always loved lifetime more than any other gym. The steam room, sitting area and lockers in the mens room create that atmosphere of high testosterone. lol All is well anytime at this facility and I would definitely to recommend trying it out. This lifetime fitness is one of my favorite locations. The staff here is great and they also have an indoor and outdoor pool. Their outdoor pool is not as big as the one in Rochester but it does have a slide. Typically, this location has some great instructors for the group exercise classes. I have yet to try their spa but that is next on my list. The one recommendation I have for this location is the scheduling of the basketball courts. Prior to Covid, the basketball courts here were always so full. Now you have to schedule a court. However, when I scheduled the court for my kids, there was no one there to manage the reservations. Each court had a group of guys playing and I didn't feel comfortable going up to them asking them to leave. Especially because there are 3 courts they make available and you don't know which one is yours so you don't even know which group of people to ask to leave. But as a guest this should not be our responsibility. That is really the only recommendation I have for this location otherwise it is great! read more

I usually don't like leaving bad reviews but there needs to be a lot of improvement done at this gym. And if you're thinking about signing up, make sure you read this full review. I signed up with Lifetime about a year ago. I should have known something was shady about this place. When I signed my contract, the sales person didn't even bother reading it. The person didn't even insist on condensing down the main points. So I took my time to read it and they just seemed annoyed, as if they were in a rush. But that's okay, I understand. I started working out and I loved the gym. It has great equipment and it gives you an option to do many wonderful things for beauty and health. I decided to sign my wife up with me. When she signed up she kept getting a call saying there needs to be an on boarding session which is like a tour of the gym with I believe a trainer. The lady over the phone said it was mandatory for her to go even though she wasn't interested. The workers continued to harass her but calling her. One day my wife and I were in the middle of my workout and the lady came up to us. Well the truth is, it wasn't mandatory. They tell their customers that because they gain recognition for every person that does that. Keep in mind that their own employee told us that we "completed it" just to check it off. This is when we noticed there was problems and they just use their customers. I referred 4 people and obtained something called lifetime bucks. I tried to use it in the store but I wasn't allowed to which is sort of ridiculous. Also, you can only use a certain amount on there online store but everything is overpriced. Shipping alone is around $4. When I went into the office to cancel my membership yesterday. The worker got into an argument with me because I tried to explain why I'm leaving. She basically told me off and said I was better off not coming here again. I've been a member for about a year and I haven't received a single drop of respect from any of their workers. Every time I walk in to sign in, the workers are usually on their phones and I'm just waiting there patiently. Why should I bother saying anything when they should be doing their jobs? When I needed something from the service desk the two ladies just stared at me while they had their conversation and then one of them finally whispered, "what do you want?" Lifetime has been a home of my family and I for the last 7 years. We have been with this gym since it was 24 hours and they cared about their members. Every weekend I am not off of work until well after 9 PM and it disappoints me that I cannot pop into lifetime after 9 PM. I understand during the peak of COVID they needed to clean more and keep their employees safe but now that we are at low numbers with COVID you would think that they could change it back to AT LEAST midnight on the weekends. Especially on the weekends, many people may want to pop into lifetime and get a workout or hop in the sauna after a long day. I watched this gym go from 24 hours to only being open until 9 PM on the weekends. Not only do they close early on the weekends but each time I am reminded of their early closing time by the front end employees, which makes me feel very rushed. For the price of this gym, I really hope to see that change very soon, coming from one of the most loyal members of this gym. My entire family goes nearly every single day and have been since we joined in 2014. Other than that it is such a nice gym with so many awesome perks, I take part in many classes and enjoy coming here to workout and unwind in the sauna and water area. I love LifeTime. I was a member there for a little over a year. This gym has so many great features! It offers all kinds of classes (yoga, cycle, etc) all included in the membership fee ($75/mo ish depending on when you sign up). The rock wall climbing and some of the fancier classes cost extra. I did try some of the misc classes but I mostly came for the yoga and cycle classes. All of the instructors were great and no complaints. I worked with a personal trainer at a discounted rate when I first joined and I would recommend everyone try it at the discounted price just to see if you like it. After the intro price it goes up to something like $100/ hour (at least the dude that I worked with) and IMO the trainers are good but not THAT good. With my membership I got 12 visitor passes. My only complaint about this gym experience is that when I took my friend into the gym with me we had to sit in one of the offices with a sales dude while he wasted our time trying to sell her a membership. We were even late for the yoga class we were going to attend. I was super annoyed and didn't bother bringing anyone else in. The gym speaks for itself, back off dude. We'll let you know if she is interested. Sheesh! Why did I leave? When I joined I was really into yoga but also wanted to mix in the cycle and other classes to keep it interesting. And it was great for a while and then I throttled back down and started going 2-4 times a month which is not enough to justify the $. I was dreading having to go in and cancel my membership thinking they were going to give me so much grief but was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to cancel the membership. You have to go in and talk to someone to cancel and they were so nice and gracious and didn't give me any trouble. It took about 5 min, I was so pleased and thankful! This gym has it all; It's the Cadillac of all gyms. Classes, indoor and outdoor pools, Pilates reformers, kids care, wet and dry saunas, beautiful locker rooms, and a very nice facility. You can mix up your workouts with many different options of machines or choose a class. The locker rooms are well cleaned by the staff. The only negative is that there are plenty of extras that are not covered by the steep monthly dues. I am a big fan of Lifetime Fitness, but.... This location is lacking customer service unlike the other two locations in Troy and Rochester. There is always equipment that needs tweaking or repair (bikes along the pool windows with built in TV's have not worked in over a year). The staff always seems put out if you ask a question. Today there was a water main break in the area just before 12 noon, they had to close down the use of water fountains, so they put towels over them with a sign warning members that it may not be safe to drink. I left the gym at 6pm, wouldn't you think that after 7 hours someone would have gone to Costco or Meijer (both less than 1/8 of a mile away) to buy a water cooler and some cups? Would it have killed them to spend $50 out of petty cash to keep their members hydrated? This location is always guilty of over looking little things like this. Last week I got to witness a 60 year old employee drop the "F" bomb in front of two grade school boys while he was talking to a member in the locker room. don't get me started on signing your kids up for classes and their auto "renewals" Avoid the Shelby location and go to Troy or Rochester your experience will be much better. read more

Recently reduced hours (no longer 24 hours) and rates raised to supposedly maximize cleanliness and to "to make the gym a much better experience for all our members." From what I've seen the gym is even dirtier now than when it was 24 hours! The bins are always full and several times a day there are zero towels on the shelves in both the upstairs and the locker rooms! I can handle my rates being raised and even my hours of working out being cut (even tho I originally signed up because it was 24 hours), if that time and money was actually going towards what they claim it is being used for! On top of that, the customers service staff has a real problem replying to emails. I guess they'll only reply if it's in regards to payment to ensure that they'll get more money... extremely disappointed in how this gym has turned out after all these years!! read more

Overpriced & Overrated I was a member since the club first opened in 1998. I have recently suspended my membership & joined a cheaper gym and quite frankly I'm not sure I would ever go back to LTF. LTF were once a great place to work out but it has gotten to point where it just isn't worth it anymore. Little by little, they have been raising the dues and the gym itself still tries to find more ways to get your money. Sections of the gym are closed off & reserved for group fitness training, which of course costs an extra fee. They've removed some useful equipment to make room for some gigantic rack that's only used by of course group fitness. It just got to a point where I said enough is enough. I'm convinced all LTF cares about is finding more and more ways of getting your money instead of providing the best possible facility to work out. read more

Love love love the yoga department here. Love it so much that I took YTT (yoga teacher training) and got my 200 hour certificate. And I'm getting ready to do another 200 hours. I have 5 kids, ages 2-10 and all 5 of them love the kids academy they have here. Lots of activities for the kids- science, art, karate, yoga, rock climbing, dance, cheer etc. the pools are awesome with a total of 4 water slide. The rest rooms and over all appearance is immaculate. The cafe is over priced so I never get anything unless it's bounce house Friday and my kids participate in the theme and get a free smooth, which is a total deal!! Overall great gym, and I'll continue to be a member for a long while. Yes, it is costly, but thy have room to bend, haggle them like I did. read more

They hire trainers but they do not monitor the weight area to keep people from playing around or talking in between sets.
