I've attended 6 degrees for a little over two years. I love all the services they provide. They have some of the best motivational trainers! They will push you to do your best, and challenging your abilities. Working out is very personal and can sometimes be challenging and discouraging. Great classes! I've only ever been to the kickboxing classes so I can't speak to the cycling or boot camp classes. Michelle is my favorite instructor and I really like her style of teaching: she's a little in-your-face (which I think is needed for the intensity of kickboxing) and really engaging. She is really good about talking to everyone during class and making sure everyone has the correct posture/sequence down. I've been to another instructor's class once or twice but found her to be slower-paced so I mostly stick to Michelle's classes. Definitely take a yoga mat, even when you go to kickboxing classes - there is about 10 minutes of stretching at the end of every class and mats are required for this portion. read more

Found a groupon to this place for super cheap and they had kickboxing so I fiugred I'd check it out. I'm not sure the best way to explain the lack of "welcome" they give newbies to this gym. I walked in and was greated by a woman who I think was the owner of the studio. She had me fill out some forms and then gave me a quick tour and showed me where to put my things. Then I sat there. I watched members walk into the studio as time for class approached and the trainor/owner walked in but I wasn't given any direction. A few minutes before I figured I should just follow along and walked in. I picked a bag and kind of watched what everyone else was doing. The music was fun but a bit too loud so I couldn't really understand what the instructor was saying. Luckily, I have taken other kickboxing classes before so I slightly knew how to do somethings although the instructor was quick to tell me if I was doing it wrong, thankfully. I came back to try the cycling course and it was my first cycling class ever so I didn't know how to use the equipment that well. I could have asked but I figured it out on my own. The owner walked in mid way and saw that my seat needed to be adjusted so she helped me with that which was nice. Overall, I did get a good workout out of both classes but I don't think it was for me. I think my groupon expired now and I didn't use many classes on there. Oh well. read more

Best gym ever! Love the variety of the classes: kickboxing, TRX, ripped, core, high intensity interval training, Zumba and more! Other pros: The owners rule, very friendly environment, other members are awesome/supportive, it is affordable, the work outs in classes change constantly so it's never routine or boring, trainers are knowledgable and helpful/willing to work with you, it's a motivating place to push yourself and it has made working out more fun for me (good music, fun people, etc). I have done many a Groupon in the metro Detroit area (Bad Boy gym, Al Irish's Shut up and Box) but this is my favorite. The owner, Michelle is about as nice as a person gets (but she's not afraid to kick your butt!) and clearly knows how to run a good place. The studio is clean with plenty of room between bags (I'm always worried being too close!) Michelle also uses the online sign up for classes so you can schedule ahead of time and confirm your spot in the class. No need to get there a half hour early and stand in line hoping to get a spot! All the instructors are great at offering modifications to your moves for those who are more advanced to beginner version. I really appreciate that. In addition to kickboxing/core class with Michelle, I have also done bootcamp with Maria, which absolutely kicked my butt. Great workout! The cardio/tabata class with Jonathon is also really great, my body has been sore on and off for two weeks since I started these classes, and I came in (decently) in shape. They work ALL your muscles. Overall, I highly recommend! Can't wait for them to add TRX classes. read more

Went here on Saturday to try the Bootcamp class. I was immediately greeted by the very friendly owner and her husband. A few minutes before the class began other people started showing up and they were all very nice and welcoming. The first visit is free and it's a great way to try this place out. The class was VERY intense. I like to think that I'm in pretty decent shape but this was pretty difficult. If you are not in very good shape they have modifications that are lower impact, so don't let the class scare you. Bootcamp was an hour of torture, in the best way. I was sweating and swearing, but I worked my butt off. In fact, I can still barely sit down today! There were squats, lunges, crawling pushups, military pushups, lateral sprints, etc etc etc. The instructor was very encouraging and made a point to remember everyone's names and give some positive feedback. At the end of the class, as I was dragging my sweaty behind out of the place, they offered me a free 6 day trial - so I have 6 more days to try as many classes as I want. I think I'm going to try to go again tomorrow if I can walk again! If you're up for a challenge and you aren't afraid of a little hard work and sweat, definitely check this place out! read more

I got a groupon for 6 degrees burn fitness for 10 visits. My first visit was free so I got a total of 11 classes for $30 which was GREAT. I was told if I didn't pay through the groupon website and paid the owner directly my visits would never expire. We experienced a lot of bad weather so after my 3rd class I was unable to go for about a month. When I went back I was told my groupon had expired. Which was a bummer ( we were lied to) I explained the situation to the owner who was NO LONGER as nice as she was the first few times we talked. She explained she would extend it for a couple more weeks. I did a boot camp class that day. The class over all was good Michelle the owner was teaching and another trainer which was very nice and helpful but the class was way too full and some positions couldn't be performed to the best of our ability. If you want to be challenged, this is the place for you. So you think you have a strong core and that you're strong with good endurance? Michelle, Brandon, and Gary will make you think twice. If you are a delicate flower who can't handle an instructor who's going to push you past your comfort zone, then you should probably go to Curves (all women gym) or Jazzercise. I weight train, run, and cycle on my own at home regularly. Then I go to one of Michelle's 30 minute Core or Ripped classes and realize that what I do at home just isn't enough. Or I realize how much more work I need to do to improve my cardio fitness when I go to Brandon's Bootcamp class. And if you have stress in your life, punching a 120 lb bag in Gary's Kick-boxing class is the perfect stress-reliever. If you're looking for some serious cross-training to add into your weekly routine, these classes are a must! read more

TERRIBLE COSTUMER SERVICE! The owner has no interest in working with her clients in anyway. When there was a mix up with a Groupon offer she was quick to call me a liar and state that I never spoke with anyone else because she is "the only one who ever answers the phone ever". She then proceeded to bully my mom and I over a spiteful email that was unnecessary. Luckily Groupon refunded my money so I don't have to waste it on this terrible business. This place is awesome!! I've haven't worked out that hard and had that much fun doing it! The owner Michelle is very knowledgable and is willing to help you with whatever questions or concerns you may have. The rest of the staff is super friendly as well and even given the size of the facility they still fit a lot into their schedule. I initially used the groupon I had purchased and then signed on full time because I was very impressed with what I saw. Lately they've added bootcamp classes with tire flips and rope work. Absolutely horrible and unprofessional customer service. It's no mystery why this business is offering a Groupon for dirt cheap. I bought a Groupon for this studio and registered for an account online. I then received an email about a charge on my account for a cancellation fee for a class that I never signed up for. When I called and spoke to Michelle Gomez to try and fix the problem she was rude, condescending, unprofessional, and hung up the phone. Please don't be fooled by this offer. Unless of course you would like to be signed up for classes that you never intended to take and then get charged for and then have to deal with a nasty woman. This is the BEST CLUB in metro detroit! Michele is committed to giving you the BEST workout - hands down. I am over fifty and I refer to my abs as "wine country" -- a bit hilly and soft terrain. My sister and I took the cycle burn class with Brandon. It was really challenging, which is part of what we were looking for, but we won't be back. Brandon's instructing style wasn't for us - he kept saying "Don't cheat", etc. throughout the class and we're more motivated when instructors use positive reinforcement. I also prefer when the instructor provides ranges for the torque and RPM since what is challenging varies by person. I really didn't like the cycles - they're the type where you slide your shoe in and tighten the strap around it instead of clipping your shoe in and I couldn't tighten it enough and kept slipping. read more
