When we joined the gym, the setup and variety of equipment was great, then they decided to change it. Now, there are a million treadmills and some fit benches that nobody uses. They eliminated all of the equipment in the 30-minute workout area, which was very popular. They also eliminated some of the most used machines, like the hip adduction/abduction, bicep curl, chest press etc. There is always a wait and sometimes, you can't use them at all. Then, to make things worse, they run a special in the summer for teenagers to come for free. The Sturbridge, MA location is much better. read more

I rate this a 3.4. Decent size planet fitness and locker room. Pretty clean here and nicely designed with all the equipment. Wasn't busy at all, may of just been the time and day. I went back to gym after dealing with a rude young lady behind counter that would not help getting a new card( lost mine) a couple years ago and just turned me off. My husband also has dealt with some rude young ladies. Today I finally went back and the nicest young man behind the counter helped me out with a smile and some kind words. The only reason I like this place is because it's conveniently located near my house. The staff inside is very rude and condescending, and the new process for tanning is an absolute nightmare. I already pay $24ish a month including the taxes and fees, but I now have to pay extra for eyewear if I use the tanning beds. They won't accept cash for this and bill it to my account. read more

Had a membership for one day a year ago and I cancelled on the same day. Found the lay out odd.. people watching you from ttreadmills as I'm trying to squat. Just called there to reopen my memebership to go later on. The women on the phone said name amanda was very rude, tone and attitude. Asked what time is the staff is there and she said 9pm on Friday? It's Wednesday btw. I said so there is staff there 24hours and a surprising tone and she said ummm yea ...sounding like I'm stupid. Honestly don't even want to go there and have Amanda handle my business if I'm going to get the same responses. Probably won't be reopening up membership already a bad sign. Excellent business concept and I do enjoy working out there. Also, did a great job during COVID but... They have a policy that there is no time limit on any equipment , this creates a problem. You will have no issues on Cardi machines but when it comes to specifically the Smith machines...TROUBLE. There are people who monopolize the machines for over an hour...no joke. They take dumbbells to the rack and perform their entire workout there...very ignorant. How about thinking about other people who may want to use the machine. I asked the front desk person to possibly put a sign up stating maximum time 30 minutes. Her reply, this is our policy and a selling point...Huh?? I can totally understand not wanting to rush some of the older clientele but they don't use the Smith machine...it's the younger age group. It makes NO sense for somebody to monopolize a machine for that long...POLICY NEEDS TO CHANGE. Great cardio. Too many rules. Micro manage everything. That part I do not like about this place. Restrooms could be cleaner Sun beds are disgusting and dirty with hair trapped in the plastic and washing fluid not enough cleaner product mostly water. They lost another star because every time I go there another issue. Today try to suntan Get in room. Won't go on. Tried to call them. No answer. They waste my time. Not enough time for me to get dressed, address the issue and start again. If they log it it will be another issue. You get what you pay for here. read more

This is a great gym. Spacious, clean and inexpensive. I never have to wait to use the equipment because their are so many options.

They were great at first.. But my neck started bothering me.. so I stopped going. After my year was up we went to cancel and we're informed we would have to pay a fee to cancel. So for another 5 to 6 months we kept paying.. Finally we went back and they informed us after the year we could have canceled at any time.. Then they said that me might reciever a refund for the last charge since we cancelled.. That never happened either.. Good employees you got working there.. They got you an extra 5 months of me paying for two memberships (me and my wife) for which I didn't even use. read more

Excited to finally go in and take advantage of the gym I had been paying monthly for, for over a year but had procrastinated going to. Mainly I just wanted to take advantage of paying for the "black card" membership which entitles you to free use of their generic 1 level tanning beds. (I've been a "black card" holder on and off since they first opened a West Boylston location 10+ years ago- and have never had this issue in my entire life) PF's (webster location) new policy on tanning dictates the front desk staff/receptionist will characterize you based on the skin type category you fall into based off of a "yes or no" style brief questionnaire when you first ask to tan. The Fitzpatrick scale was developed in the 70's, and mostly serves now as a very basic point of reference. In my opinion, remains extremely arguable. Based off of what the PF receptionists are now allowed to characterize you as, they grant you (like power drunk fairy tan mothers) a certain amount of "tanning minutes" allotted to the tanning beds/booths. Apparently from talking with other friends who have also been exposed to this nonsense, a standard "2 minutes" is the starting standard across the board. Regardless of your skin chart category? Not only that, but each person is ONLY allowed to move up from the "2 minutes of tan time" probation period, once they've consecutively visited the tanning bed/booth for THREE "2 minutes of tan time" within, but not exceeding the general 24 hour rule.... :::face slap::: Regardless of them now following such ridiculously over exaggerated, and completely contradictory guidelines, the inconsistency between staff is obviously enough to merit a 1 star yelp review. I've been told a different "skin type tanning plan" by each staff, I've caught them lying, and I've even had night staff "bribe" me with extra "illegal" tanning booth minutes if i made it a point to go in whilst he was working the desk. Like any good addict/dealer relationship, I obliged. Everything would have been fine, and I could even have respected their cute attempt at "being responsible" if not for the blatant inconsistency, by other day time staff. Their lack of knowledge on what they're basing this new protocol on, the lack of communication between staff, and their overall rude demeanor when dishing out "minutes". "Mmmm looks like I can give you 5 minutes this time" ‍ Thanks but I think I'd rather go up the street to pay $20 for the full tanning time at an actual tanning salon, where they don't ask questions- because, adults. read more

A gym is what you make of it. PF has everything you need to stay fit and healthy. The people here are nice, everything is clean. The only thing i wish they would have is free weights. A few squat racks and bench pressing stations would really be beneficial. Smith machines do have their purpose but this gym really need free weights. thats my only gripe read more

If not for the misleading advertising I would rate them higher! I got the black membership for $20 per month with no commitment, but that's not true! There is a $59 (equal to 3 months after 30 day communication which actually amounts to 4 months worth of payments) and don't forget the $39 annual fee. So if you decide to cancel a year later $378 is your actual cost for 1 year membership. read more

Not sure why the low scores. This is a gym, not a massage spa or tanning salon. It serves it's purpose. The machines all work, bathrooms and showers are clean, front desk staff always greets with a smile, open 24hrs during the week, never too crowded, bright and new. Yes there is an annual fee but it's $10 or $20 a month! Other gyms are $40+ so still a great price! Anyway, so far so good. My ONLY wish is that they'd open at 5am or 6am on Saturdays! read more

My gym, Cardio Express, in the East Brook Mall in Mansfield, CT just closed and my membership was transferred to Planet Fitness in Willimantic. So, I drove down to check it out. First impression.....Hideous. The place looks like a factory. At least 50 treadmills lined up like banks of milling machines. All in the horrible PURPLE!! Smaller spaces filled with ab machines in YELLOW. The place just makes me feel like a cog in a machine. I asked at the desk if there was a dedicated space for stretching and yoga poses. I was told that there was space between the machines where I could do that. Apparently, the term "dedicated space" is unknown to the folks behind the desk. The environment and "vibe" in this place is so bad that I'm looking for another gym. read more

The gym itself is great. The equipment works, the locker rooms are clean, the massage chairs are a nice perk. Some of the staff however is lacking. Specifically the personal trainer, she's very dull when she checks me in and when I see her with members helping them, she looks absolutely miserable and is distracted with her phone. read more

I have been a gym rat since the 80's. World Gym Plus in Seekonk was a 5 Star gym back then. I can't understand these complaints. My headphones are blaring so I could care less about the employee attitudes. And tanning? People still do that? End up with a face like a broken in catchers mitt. Smoke up while you're at it too. lol And Price? I would pay triple for a swimming pool, hot tub and sauna as long as it was kept as clean as the rest of the gym. I would give it 5 stars but it lacks some features and because of the price, there are many new unmotivated members, pacing, playing with their phones. I feel like I am the only one there drenched in sweat and completely focused, I am glad I can motivate myself because I workout alone.
