This is my second review in a month my name is Lee and I was charged again AFTER I CANCELLED, and i cancelled with a customer service agent and she walked me through how to cancel my membership and she did and I still was charged, when I called this week I heard the same lady I wrote about in the last review, she was saying all the same thing u won't get your money back and I won't help u, SO IF SO IF THE MANAGER WAS TO CANCEL ME SHE DIDN'T I AM CONTACTING A LAWYER, as I have proof of the cancellation and the proof I was charged, I do hope the owners of that planet fitness understands I'm being stolen from and I'm sure others are going through the same from what I'm reading in the reviews, AGAIN I HAVE THE PROOF AND THE CANCELLATION AND I WAS STILL CHARGED!!!!!!!!! OK, first the good stuff. They are open 24-7 and most holidays. The locker rooms are large and spacious. There is access to tanning and massage chairs if you chose the black card membership. Now the not so good. If you are not able to come after 10:00PM and before 7:00AM, this place gets extremely crowded, especially during the week days in the early evening hours. The Corporation keeps attracting new members, so the crowds are growing. Equipment does break down and if there are only 1 or 2 of a specific machine, having one out of service causes natural delays. The vast majority of members simply do not care how long they linger on a machine. They watch videos, check DM's, read emails, etc. It is nothing to have a machine tied up by the same person for 15-20 minutes. So if you are the type of person that wants to pop in for a quick 1 hour all around workout, Planet Fitness is not your place. If you don't mind spending 2 or more hours in a very leisurely workout, This place is for you. Especially if you have to have constant contact with the cyber world. You also have to be able to tolerate being around people who do not wipe down their equipment after use even though there are ample cleaning station throughout the place. read more

This is literally the worst gym I've ever been to. Not just the worst planet but the worst gym in general. The staff here is horrible. I've seen them be rude to other members and I've personally had them be rude to me. The manager there is a young girl who lovessss telling people she's the manager (seems to be going to her head) lol & from what I have observed looks for any opportunity to argue with members or anyone for that matter. She told me my shirt was showing my nipples and that I couldn't wear it when plenty of other people at the gym have the same attire. I've posted a picture just to prove my case. The whole environment here is super tense. I've witnessed staff members besides her threaten to cancel members memberships over them asking questions about price differences and simple things. That's just one example. I would dodge a bullet and drive a few extra minutes to go to a different location or just sign up for the new crunch they're building literally 5 minutes away. This gym is massive! I was hesitant to join out of fear of running into people I know from high school, typical antisocial behavior, I know. I see a lot of people I know, but the facility is so large that I don't feel as if I can't get away. There are a ton of machines and a variety to choose from. I've never had to wait for a machine to become available like I have at other, smaller gyms. There are also cleaning stations positioned around the gym for the members convenience. One of the greatest things about Planet Fitness is that I forgot my water this past weekend and I was able to get a bottle of water and add it to my account. read more

I joined the gym about a month ago now and really enjoy it! You are greeted by friendly workers when you walk in - they do have "busy" times but the machines are typically available when you want to use them. The gym overall is clean and really like the extras my membership gives me. read more

It's in a shopping center so there's lots of parking. I'm just passing through I found it to be on par with most others I have visited it's not the nicest but it's also not the worst. I signed up for planet fitness back home in TX because I really liked the facility and it's staff. I believe that the West Mifflin Planet Fitness is a bit dated. WHAT IT HAS: -Lots of treadmills and other cardio equipment -Assisted bench press/squat bars -free weight dumbbells only -30 minute full body workout area -core machine area -lockers, showers, bathrooms -lots of (old model) Tanning booths WHAT WAS MISSING: -Total Body Enhancement booth (similar to a tanning booth but with non-UV red lights) -free weight barbells -easy refill water dispenser for tall bottles -water massage tables -private rooms for tanning. EVALUATION: - Although I can live without a new model water fountain and water massage table, I must say that the lack of free weight barbells creates a back up of the only 5 or 6 assisted squat/bench machines. I would up a star if the brought in a set of barbells. - I also miss my Total Body Enhancement! It played music and soothed your skin as the floor shook to help with cellulite and bloodflow. If you don't know what I'm talking about look it up. There is room for it so maybe they could eventually add one. -The outdated tanning booths are intimidating at first glance with the small attached changing rooms and no music. But I couldn't get an unlimited tanning membership for $ 10 a month in TX so I'll take what I can get. -Overall, the facility is clean, the staff is nice and helpful, and it gets the job done! read more

If you're looking to just work out without wanting to be a body builder, this place is for you. Like the commercials state, Planet Fitness is a judgement free zone that totally gets the job done. I'm not a member, but my fellow Yelper Elizabeth D. was a member and I would tag along with her every now and then. Bringing a guest is just one of the awesome perks of PF! And for $10-$20/month?! You can't beat that! The gym itself is very basic, but still has enough equipment to work on your fitness fully. It may not have as many machines as LA Fitness (my current gym), but you will definitely be able to leave still feeling beat. The equipment they do have is all very clean and new. They maintain everything very well and even use the same equipment company as LA Fitness (Life Fitness). As far as free weights, PF does lack. However, this isn't a gym for meatheads. Free weights only go up to 60 pounds and there are only a few benches. They also have some cables to use. Once again, totally doable if you're looking to just get in shape without hopes of becoming the next bodybuilder. There are also plenty of cardio machines and an area for a "30 minute workout" that consists of certain machines for a full body workout. I think the best thing about PF is the atmosphere. You don't see the typical gym lunks that LAF is known for. Also, every time we've gone it's been fairly empty making my workout much more enjoyable (we usually go late night on the weekends). I love this gym and specifically this location. I went to school in Johnstown and had the luxury of using a brand new state-of-the-art gym and when I moved back to PA after I graduated, I went through withdrawal! I tried a few gyms in the area and they were either too expensive, too small or not clean. I have been here at all hours of the day and the staff is constantly cleaning/restocking (actually cleaning not just faking it for the boss) and they just seem really approachable. I've been a member since May 12' and within a few weeks, the staff would know my gym ID which makes me feel like a "member" rather than "client." It does get busy at times but the rushes don't last very long. There seems to be a turnover of people every 20 min. or so. They have rules that you cant bring in your outside equipment (medicine balls, weights...) but that's ok because I can do those at home. I am really happy with my gym - It's really cheap, I like their message and they offer what I need! read more

Like going to Planet Fitness very much but lately I am very disappointed in the lack of service in getting machines repaired. There are more and more broken machines and it has been at least 3 weeks that some have been down. Almost two years ago I was diagnosed with Vestibular Migraines. These migraines are different because instead of headaches I get vertigo. I am just now at a place that the doctors feel that it's safe for me to work out. So 2016 has to be my year of transformation. Planet Fitness is the perfect choice of a gym to make that happen. The fact that it's only $10 a month makes it affordable. All of the employees are extremely kind. Not only are they kind but they are regular people. The tag line of "no critics" rings true. People of all ages and sizes come in to work out. They offer many different sets of equipment to work on your transformation. They have a place where you can do a 30 minute work out. There are two rows of machines that work on specific areas of your body. There are free weights, bikes, treadmills, and all kinds of equipment to use. They have classes to teach you how to get the best out of every machine. They have a trainer who will help you customize a work out just for you. They have classes like Biggest Loser. The locker rooms are big and include showers and blow dryers. They are very clean. The best part for me is that I can walk in with no make up and bed head to work out and I don't feel judged. This location of Planet Fitness is piss poor. The workers at the front desk don't seem equipped for the job they are to do. I know it's not difficult to check people in, sell items of purchase, or sign people up for membership. The equipment is old and there are more machines for cardio than there are for weights. I don't like that they have limited equipment. This gym lives up to the $10 a month price. If you just need a quick cardio workout out then come here. Other than that, it's a waste of good space. I'm not sure what the locker rooms look like or massage area because I didn't go in those areas. Nor did I have any interest of doing anything outside of my workout. Things to count on with a Planet Fitness: affordable/cheap, people who have no idea how to use exercise equipment and tootsie rolls. Things to count on with this Planet Fitness: enough cardio machines for the entire U.S. army, a wide range of anaerobic machines and no fuss staff. I worked out here for about three months and with the exception of a leaky roof, this place served me well. What a NIGHTMARE! Two young adult children (over 18 college students) signed up using mother's debit card with approval. Somehow one of the children was signed up twice, maybe our fault as daughter tried to sign up online, gave up and went in-person to one of the stores (Castle Shannon, Washington or West Mifflin). We currently are having the fees for 3 memberships deducted from our account each month for only two people. My wife has called multiple times, personally traveled to multiple stores, and she even has talked with their billing company, ABC Financial. We finally thought that we had resolution, only we never received the promised reimbursement for the 2 months of extra membership charges. My wife called again today, and not only is it not resolved, they do not appear to have record of the conversation from two weeks ago, they cannot find my son's membership in their computer, and they are referring us to ABC Financial, who has already referred us back to them. Of course, the one guy we need to talk to at ABC Financial is out today (Really only one guy can assist!). The same guy that my wife spoke to two weeks ago, who informed us to expect the refund to our account in 7-10 business days, and claims not remember the conversation, later admits that as a "courtesy" he transferred our daughter's home to store to Washington without our consent two weeks ago! She leaves for college out of state in three weeks, and we didn't initiate the transfer because your limited to one uncharged transfer every 90 days. So, we will have the hassle of another fee due to this act of "courtesy". One question, if he has no record or recall of the conversation, how does he recall this gracious act two weeks ago. Convenient that you recall that, but have no recall of anything else or the refund! Given one debit card, all the same last names, and these people can't locate the source of the problem? In addition, the memberships were gold or elevated to allow the member to use any planet fitness, not just their home store. Turns out, its BS! We are paying an extra $5/month so that they can workout up to 10x at other locations before they are charged extra per visit! Obviously a good idea being undermined by poor business practices, poor customer service and just plain greed. read more

Gym is great. Front desk staff was dreadful. The woman who checked me in wasnt helpful at all and had poor hygiene that frankly was distracting and made me think poorly of the standards this location has. I dealt with it because frankly i just needed a membership, period and with three kids that was the time i could do it. I've been to many Planet Fitnesses around the area; Steubenville, North Versailles, North Hundington, and Uniontown just to name a few. This is by far the worst Planet Fitness I've ever been in. It is always over crowded and the layout is horrible (even after this latest renovation). They don't have nearly as many machines for specific body parts as the other PFs because this gym is flooded with cardio machines. If you hate going to the gym and go to this PF, try a different one. This one makes me so disgusted that I can't even finish my workout. read more

Well the fact that's its only 10.00 a month for a fully functional gym is pretty good. The fact that's its also 24 hours is another plus. There are numerous machines to burn calories and get your cardio on. Rows and rows of treadmills and elliptical. The bathrooms I must say are maintained every other hour and are very clean for the most part. Not a big weight selection as far as free weights are concerned. No flat benches and random handles to the pulley machines scattered on the floor. Other than that, my complaint would only be that during the peak times about 1800-2100 it can get really crowded. I go in the morning about 0500 to avoid the rush. Other than that it does everything I need it to. read more

I have been going to this PF for over 3 years now and I haven't had a single bad experience. If you are looking to be fit and are on a budget, this place is for u. Basic membership costs about $10.00 a month. With the Black Card Membership that costs $20.00 a month, you could bring a friend along anytime as long as you are a member, in addition to the tanning and massage access you would get. The gym is 24/7, clean and well maintained. The staff members are friendly and always cool. The only cons would be that it gets crazy busy sometimes and a few leaky roofs during rainy days. read more

Let me tell you about my experience with this joke of gym. I signed up online at first, but it told me to go into my local center and finish. Assuming I would receive a contract and have a professional person explain to me my contract. Even when you agree to terms and conditions, someone is supposed to go over disclosures with you. At least every professional job I've had has done that. Instead I get a young girl who was way too busy chit chatting with friends to even give me the tour I was promised. She said "here, we need your signature, here's your card, have a nice day." Well, I went in last week to cancel my membership since I was under the impression it was a "commitment free" gym. I was told I had to pay a $60 fee. What? I asked why, and the woman taking care of me gave me a huge huff and said "Well your membership is a year long contract." Of course I get upset because I wasn't aware. She tells me to call a manager. I called the manager, and as the other employees, completely unprofessional. He talked to me as if I were some idiot because I wasn't rightfully informed. I get that there's terms and conditions, I've dealt with jobs with contracts, but I could at least been handled professionally. He then sent me to corporate because "he can't help me." Sheesh. So I call corporate, and I wait and I wait. Finally speak to someone, thank God. I calmly explain that I am unhappy with my experience. She apologized and said I had to talk to the manager. Okay? I was just told to call corporate? I explain that to her and said it was asinine. She says "Thanks, have a nice day." Click. Seriously!? Now I am fuming. So I call back, trying to keep composure. I immediately ask for a supervisor. The supervisor, Krissy, comes on with a tone of voice that sounded really irritated. I explained my whole situation, because at this point it isn't about the money, it's about the customer service experience. She first tells me I swore at the girl (who I couldn't even recall the name of.) She continues to give me the same run around about the contract is a legal binding document, blah blah blah. There was no apology, no resolution, did not even try to calm me down. Very rude. I asked if people get canceled for being uncomfortable with men going into women's locker room, why can I not be canceled for simply being unhappy with their services? She told me they do not cancel people from their office. Okay? So what do you do? Because your customer service is really poor since I am more angry than I was when I started. So my question to Planet Fitness is; What is your purpose? Because your machines are momentum based so I can't ever build muscle. If I use free weights I can't grunt which is a normal bodily reaction. And, that lunk alarm, good grief, is that not judgmental in your "judgment free zone?" And do you believe the customer is always right? If I am irate would you not try to do something about it? Or does making me more mad make your job fun? Clearly you do not care about members or try to keep them, that's why your prices are so cheap I guess. I have never been so angry in my life and dealt with so many unprofessional people at once. Even if you could not cancel me, there could have been something that SOMEONE could have done to ensure my satisfaction. You are a poor excuse for a consumer company, because consumers are clearly not your main focus. I would gladly just pay the $60 and call it a loss, but now I am too furious with my treatment to even bother. If you're looking to get fit and not go broke, this place is for you. I've been a member here for almost a year and I can honestly say it has changed my life! The staff is super nice and helpful. The gym itself is very clean and the machines are well maintained. I would probably be laughed out of any other gym to be honest since I'm still so new to this, but I feel so welcomed here and free to do what I have to within my abilities. Yes, it can be pretty busy here, but I've found that usually happens in the late afternoon/early evening. Even when it's busy, though, I've never seen anyone get impatient or rude about it. I joined this gym online. Decided to go up to it to register and get my membership card. The gym is being renovated and it's all pulled apart in the corner. The bathrooms are also being worked on, so I cannot give a fair review of its amenities. That being said, the lady at the front desk was extremely friendly and gave me a gym tour. It's pretty much what I expected. Tons of cardio equipment, very little free weights. Great gym for people that are new to fitness. I have a membership at Anytime Fitness also; and I train in powerlifting there so I'm familiar with "standard" gyms. I love it, but wanted to increase my cardio for general health and love the fact that Planet Fitness is located everywhere. First impressions of West Mifflin Planet Fitness are. 1. Great staff. Very sweet girl working the front, (Wish I could remember her name) 2. Convenient location to everything in Pleasant Hills. 3. Lots of space and for the equipment they have. 4. I absolutely love this gym! I have gone to many different gyms throughout the years but none are like PF! The staff are usually pretty friendly and helpful. The free weights area isn't too big (Free weights aren't a big focus at this gym because PF isn't looking to attract the groaners and meat heads) and can easily get crowded at peak times, but PF gives you a spreadsheet detailing what times are the busiest at that particular location so you can find a time with less people there! There are a lot of weight machines and cardio equipment there and there is never a shortage of machines to use, as I've experienced with other gyms. I really enjoy the Arc Trainer cardio machine located towards the right of the gym. It's very smooth and gives you an awesome workout! Also, not a lot of people go on it! For $10/month and it being open 24 hours a day, this gym is a wonder! :) For $20/month, you have unlimited access to tanning and massage chairs in tanning area (You are given tokens for massage chairs. They are relaxing and awesome!) on top of the price to use the gym. You also can bring anyone you want any time you want with this "platinum" membership. Some people use the gym for tanning only, which is much cheaper than buying a tanning package at a salon. The bathrooms are always stocked and very clean. The shower area is never dangerously soaked. There are always staff wiping down the machines in the gym too, which I have't seen at other gyms, which shows you the care the staff and company puts into its gym! The only thing is that if you go late at night, the parking lot isn't too well lit, but I've always felt safe in the gym at this time. I cancelled my membership for the winter because the drive was too much in the snow and after that, the workers became rude towards me when I was there finishing out the month I paid for. OMG this place sucks. You get what you pay for I guess. I was of course leered in by the unbeatable price and very disappointed. Upon arrival everyone in there acted confused, due to the unbelievable amount of people. I went to the desk to sign in and the guy acted like a total idiot! I told him, I wanted the $1 down and $10 a month deal and he said, "we don't have that here". I said, " I just seen this offer last night on your website?" His response, I'm sorry we don't have that, its $10 down. I said ok. He then started signing me up on an IPAD that kicked him off twice and he had to retype all my info. Next he said, "you want the $19.99 month deal right? I said no! He finally completed my membership and I needed a receipt and he said, "oh, I cant give you a receipt for 2-3 days since you didn't give an email address. Are you kidding me? We don't live in a world of the honor system anymore! I couldn't shake his hand and tell him I would pay for my gym membership in 2-3 days? Are you kidding me? I told him go find me a receipt, at which point, he walked over to his GM(Kailyn Robertucci) and she said, "she'll have to wait 2-3 days. I walked over and asked for a receipt. Her response, "why"? I said because you just debited money out of my account! After signing up, I wanted to start working out and asked if they had lockers I could rent? Nope, have to buy your own lock! I then said, "could I get a personal trainer?" Nope, the only have one girl(kim) who is shared by everyone. She came over and basically told me to look on the machines and read how to use them! Of course, a few min later I seen her over with all the men flirting. This place is a joke, no customer service and unprofessional. Save the little money you spend, its not even worth that! read more
