honestly it's always something at this gym. Ive been coming here for a year and 4 months and the fan in tanning booth 5 has never once worked or been fixed. Always a machine broken and the tanning booths are always dirty. I have been to many PFs in the country. I find the 3 I have visited in the Bronx are below the standard I experience elsewhere. PF in Yonkers I went to this morning was great and worth going a bit further. The machines are in good shape and spaced nicely. It was not busy at 10:30 so I did not wait for machines. Of all the P Fitnesses in Westchester, this location may feel the most legit. It's true that Planet Fitness (in NYS at least) does not commonly carry squat racks, or bench presses. If you want that, you can schlep to the Norwalk CT location. I wonder if this is because of insurance coverage . Yonkers PF has A LOT of machines. Most of them were in service. This is one of the larger PF locations... decent amount of space! I was surprised by how clean the locker room and bathroom was. Well done! read more

A good gym to get your work out groove on at the planet fitness in Yonkers . Very clean and organized with plenty of available work out equipment in a spacious setting . Clean lockers and bathrooms with friendly staff ready to help . Was there on a Friday early afternoon and didn't have to wait to use the light weights, treadmill, bike and that machine that's good for stretching your arms and strengthen your back . This tiny PF is absolutely packed morning, noon and night, but if you go at about 9:30 AM on a weekday, you get a break from the mob, who do things like take 5 sets of dumbells to a bench so no one else can work out with them and the front desk does nothing about it. Sigh. You just wait and see if you can grab a couple and do your military presses, curls, whatever you can do with just one dumbbell. If you're lucky. Yesterday i was there and there was one guy on the leg extension machine for 30 minutes, "resting" in between and looking at his phone. I never did get to use the machine because of this idiot. Other than the fact that there are typically 60 people on the floor - picture the subway! Everyone is chill, and nice, and respectful. I hate to use the word "ghetto" but that one word accurately describes the vibe. No disrespect intended. There are also no medicine balls or even a place to warm up and stretch without another human being two feet away. If you can take the crowds, you'll get a nice workout here. read more

Planet Fitness FAIL - This new free Summer School program is horrible for paying members. Unchaperoned children crowd the machines and fool around until they break. Now it's overcrowded - and just about every other machine is broken. We've had to drive all the way to the Scarsdale location on a couple of occasions to find machines that work. I like this location because the staff is usually friendly and it's generally clean - but I can't wait for summer to end. read more

After speaking with the gym they told me a blank checking account was added to my account and failing over to my debit card for payment so it was seeing my payment as late. The account had 0000 listed and she said this was a mistake they made at signup. By the time they noticed, I had been charged $45 in late fees. I asked for a refund and was told "sure the manager can do that". The manager apologized and said there is no way to provide refunds? I'm pretty sure this is theft The same thing happened to me, sounds like a scam to me read more

Every time there is heavy rain, staff needs to place buckets all around to collect the rainwater. The concrete ceiling is visibly fractured all over the place, and in the warmup area ceiling tiles are ready to collapse. This is a horrible establishment meant and don't know why I thought joining them again would be any different but surprise surprise , different people same horrible customer service . Not even a month of being a member and already taking advantage and hitting me with a late fee that had to do with an issue on their end. The customer service number they provide to help with billing issues is just as useless because they only take payments nothing else everything else has to be done through their home club. You get the run around only to be told that you would have to pay the late fee regardless even if it was their fault. I wouldn't recommend this gym to any one of this was the last gym on the planet , haha !! Beware they are nothing but scammer. plus it was not a 1.00 to join because of hidden fees they don't broadcast on the tv , am I shocked def not just will no better never again!! read more

Search for this location on google and decided to give it a try. I was impressed free parking and the place is huge. This is the biggest Planet Fitness i have entered. I do not like this gym. I don't like at all. There's too many people stuffed in this one location and not enough gym equipment to fulfill the occupants present. The way this location is set up makes it hard to get a good full workout in. Also, they have horrible hours. Paying for a black card membership you'd think I'm getting the best of the best but this location closes at 11PM. This is extremely inconvenient to full time employees, full time students, mothers and fathers that must balance other responsibilities. I don't recommend the Yonkers location read more

They charged my account weeks after assuring me it had been cancelled (try searching and you'll see MANY people have had the same problem). Each club is independently franchised, so PF Corporate disavows any responsibility, and shunts all issues back to the club level, which might be OK, if club managers did their jobs and followed through. If you can help it, never give them your checking account information, or better yet, join a different club! read more

Always heard this location was filthy and unkempt but supposedly that changed after the renovation in 2016 so I joined. At first all was well until they terminated the cleaner or he quit. I always went when the gym first opened....5 a.m. during the week and 7 a.m. on weekends so there was no excuse for the lack of cleanliness. Bathrooms went for days without cleaning, soap dispensers not replenished, etc. Equipment was not cleaned, floors were dirty and the gym overall was unkempt. Called the manager who promised to address it but said "things get busy" and nothing changed. Soon after I became very ill and I know it was from the condition of the gym. How on earth can a gym not be kept clean? It's unhealthy, unsanitary and disgraceful. I cancelled and for another $5.00 per month, joined Blink fitness which is always spotless....best money I ever spent. Stay far, far away from this Planet Fitness location. read more

I've gone to 3 PF: Yonkers, New Rochelle, and Marble Hill location in the Bronx. I'm a fan but my closest and convenient in Yonkers. I love the 5 min commute, the parking, and equipment. However, it can get packed so I would recommend expanding, another location by the waterfront on Main St/South Broadway, and making this location 24/7. It's affordable and great space. There would be way more memberships! read more

On Saturday, October 20th I was punched in the face by a Planet Fitness staff member, Renie, who randomly started twirling in circles like a child with his fists out as I was exiting the building. Accidents happen...ok, but the way Planet Fitness has handled it so far has been entirely unacceptable. Renie stood there laughing at me while I was trying to determine if I had a nose bleed or if he'd broken my nose. I called him a dumbass and then he got confrontational with my husband who said he was a jerk and to stop grinning and laughing. The other staff member had to ask Renie to get away from us. The manager called me and said they reviewed the video, saw him punch me and they're revisiting it, but hey he's an ok employee overall so we really don't care. They gave me 2 free months...if you know PF that's a whopping $40 total. In what universe is punching a customer and then standing there laughing about it, even if it was an accident, acceptable behavior on a job?!? read more

There is always something broken here. Either the machine isn't working properly, or the paint is peeling off of it. Always one or the other. Most of the patrons are either elderly, foreign, or young high school kids. It's nice that they have a big open space, but they could use a few updates (such as the equipment and maybe a fresh coat of paint on the walls). The last time that I visited this location, I saw an elderly woman sitting on the leg press machine reading a book. She was not using the machine for exercise purposes, but rather as a chair. The staff are very friendly and the facility is generally kept clean. This location is very large with multiples of the weight machines and a great deal of cardio equipment so you never have to wait. My complaints are that the members never clean their machines after use and the staff also does a limited amount of cleaning of the machines. A lot of the cardio equipment has been out of order or covered in gum or something of the sort. I also have an issue with the men that come to this gym as they stare and say things to you and the staff does not do anything about it. I upped my membership to a black card so that I could go to a PF closer to home rather than work, and also so I could avoid the discomfort and feelings of uneasiness. All and all its a fine place to work out but I'm sure you could find better locations. read more

As of today, January 2019 there are STILL cars parked in the handicap spaces in the parking lot!! I have a handicap sticker and go workout afte 9pm, and every single time I go, there are cars parked in the handicap spots with NO handicap permit!! Will you please put up a sign in the gym regarding this matter. Also, I have a question, Why are the changing rooms OUT in the hallway instead of inside the women's restroom? Planet Fitness gets a lot of flak for well, being Planet Fitness. We've all heard the jokes, no grunting, no real lifts, no gains, no fun; but it's really not so bad, this location isn't bad at least. The staff here is pretty chill, there's a lot of space, tons of machines, air conditioning seems to work okay, and anything broken gets repaired in a timely fashion. I used to powerlift, so the lack of equipment I'm used to is a little disheartening (No free weight barbells, dumbbells only go up to 60 lbs), but due to finances and logistics, this is the best possible gym for me to sign with for the moment and I've made the best of it. This is a great starter gym, very casual. Lot's of elderly and high school kids come here. I recommend this gym for people who don't want to take themselves too seriously. read more

Don't ever join this gym if you think that maybe, one day, you might have a busy family/work life and need to quit. The reason the membership is so cheap is because they will continue charging your credit card and won't ever let you leave! I no longer live near this planet fitness, and I called inquiring how to cancel since I could not get to my "home" gym to do so. The girl who answered assured me that I could go to any planet fitness and cancel my membership. Well, not according to the planet fitness near my house. Once there, they couldn't locate me in the system. I then called this gym back and again asked how I could cancel. They asked to speak with one of the employees and she told them "we can't do it on our end, but she came all the way down here so could you just cancel it for her?" And he said NO!! Only way to cancel my membership is to go back to this gym, 60 miles from my home, and cancel in person so they have my signature. Not happening. So now I'll be sending a friggin certified letter to headquarters just to get them to stop charging my credit card every month! It should not be THIS HARD to cancel a gym membership!!!!! In response to PF's comment: 1. Make sure your staff knows the policy too so they don't send customers on a wild goose chase to cancel the membership. 2. I have never had to jump through more hoops to cancel something. With so many other options out there, I would never join this gym again. read more

Very much of a hassle to join. A lot of my friends have experienced billing problems with their membership, thank god I didn't spend a cent on this place. The people at the desk are slightly rude. Haven't been there in a while, but this one lady was so rude and had such an attitude every time I asked a question. Jeez. Anyway, the size of this place is pretty good and spacious. Although the machines are a bit outdated, at least there's a bit of variety. However, not my favorite gym or a reliable membership system. Get it together, and hire nicer employees. read more

Only thing is some of the machines are a bit broken at times but rarely and if you let them know they try to fix it right away. Also it's near I'm guessing a garbage dump? But it's not their fault. This gym is beyond unprofessional. I'm not going to complain about the lack of gym etiquette, equipment or cleanliness (none of which are good). The staff and costumer interaction is abysmal. I've seen a staff member sigh and call a customer a "bitch" only to have the costumer get justifiably upset. Then, instead of the "manager" addressing the issue the way a manager should, the manager bans the costumer. If someone called you a "bitch", wouldn't you be upset too? What brought me here was an incident which hit closer to home than anticipated. There is a staff member there (a tall, flamboyant kid) who actually harassed my gym partner constantly for his tag despite us being regulars. My gym partner would comply but tension was rising as the staff member felt he had won some kind of petty war and would behave as such. Long story short, after processing his membership, the staff member actually thought it would be funny to threaten him. My gym partner was confused at first but if the staff member was making some sort of joke, it was lost on him. My gym partner questioned the staff member's intentions and the staff member actually said to him "catch me outside!". That's when my gym partner was officially offended and addressed the kid. The child staff member was reluctant because at that point he realized that he was threatening a man. The best part is that the so called manager (small petite red head), close to tears, yelled at my work out partner that she was going to call the cops and ban him unless he left. She never addressed the child staff that started all of this. He complied. When he went to go back to the gym, he found out through another manager that he was in fact banned. They banned my work out partner because of their lack of customer service and unprofessionalism. I am livid at their behavior and can only warn future and current gym goers. This location is full of very young, inexperienced and unprofessional staff who apparently have the right to ban costumers on a whim. These aren't the only two circumstances in which vulgar interaction between staff and costumers have occurred. You have been warned. read more

Been going to this gym for years. Even worked there for a while. The atmosphere is always pretty chill & friendly. Never had an issue.

They recently renovated a few months ago which is a big plus. Plenty of parking and fairly clean. I usually go late morning which is great because it's a lot of regulars who practice good gym etiquette. However, the after work crowd couldn't be more different. It gets full of douchebag slobs who leave garbage and weights everywhere. It can also tend to get pretty full of some really ghetto savages. Not bad for $20 a month in my opinion. read more

I only use the treadmill at this point. But the best part is it doesn't stink like other gyms and a treadmill is always free, even during busy times. Unfortunately, it's right across from where the city of Yonkers parks its garbage trucks, so it's gross to walk from the parking lot to the gym. Thet need to do something about that! read more

The gym itself is OK, nothing more and nothing less. I have never had to wait for a machine (they have more than enough) and the parking is ample and free. My only complaint is for the money that I am spending, I thought the machines would be much nicer. Before I moved here, I was a member of the YMCA and we had top of the line machines such as PRECOR's and I paid less monthly. These machines, like the gym itself, is "OK." There is also a variety of people working out and not just gym freaks and meatheads. read more
