She made friends that she still keeps in contact with, and everyday she'd come home with a new story to share. She claims that it was one of the best summer camps she had ever gone to! Everyday they provided her with lunch and a new design experience. I 10/10 recommend this summer camp for kids to experience!!

I wish kids had more opportunities like this. We would love the opportunity to go on a family hike with Hawks once in a while. I often wished I could stay when dropping off!

He loved the variety of activities and made so many new friends. He came home with fun stories each day. I loved that they offered a variety of options from 2 days/week to 5 days. We returned last summer and an unexpected and sudden medical event threw our summer for a loop. They were beyond kind and accommodating. Michael, the owner, personally made sure we were taken care of at a very scary time and was just incredibly kind and communicative. I can't thank him and his staff enough for the support. I would recommend this camp for any family. Its like a classic, old-school summer day camp experience!

My son attended Adventurewood camp for the first time this week. For the most part he enjoyed…read morehimself -- particularly the characters they introduce throughout the week. However, we decided to pull him out for next week because of a very disturbing situation. He shared that a counselor had pushed him with both hands on his shoulders during a capture the flag activity. He had dropped his flag and was putting it back on when a counselor (he didn't know her name) pushed him back hard enough to make him lose his balance and fall. She also barked "you need to reset!" She didn't ask if he was ok or help him up. You'd think if this was an accidental push and he fell over she would say something like "sorry bud are you ok? Here let me help you up" but nope, not a word. A friend he's attending camp with witnessed the whole incident. Since I pick them both up in the afternoons they both recounted this situation to me and both of them noted how inappropriate her behavior was. I immediately reached out to Michael, the owner of the camp. He said he wanted to identify this counselor and get her side of the story. Understandable. My son felt uncomfortable going back the next day but I reassured him it would be handled and offered to drop him off in the morning and stick around to talk to Michael and the counselor. I wanted him to feel safe. Michael identified her (her name is Carson) and said he wanted to talk to her first, which he did a few feet away from me. I heard her say she didn't push him. They then walked over to me and she again denied everything. So we asked both kids to come over and recount what happened. They both did -- in front of her -- and reiterated she pushed him. She denied even touching him. So Michael suggests at this point that perhaps it was an accident and my son responds by saying "how do you push someone like that by accident?!" No response. So I ask her, are you saying these kids are lying? She again said she didn't touch him and at this point we send the kids away. I'm incensed because not only does she gaslight both of them to their face but tells this bold faced lie to her boss in front of the campers and me. I tell her I believe them and I think she's the one lying. At this point she gives me this dirty look - angry, irritated and almost rolls her eyes at me. I turn to Michael and say "and now she's giving ME an attitude?!" Unbelievable. In a follow up call, he tells me how good of a person she is and that this is shocking for him to hear but that she doesn't seem like someone who would do something like this...that she's getting her teacher credentials and he knows her really well. I am getting the vibe he doesn't actually believe any of this and he sounds very skeptical. I respond by telling him that it's almost always surprising when people exhibit bad behavior and that even teachers do bad things...that doesn't make her any more credible in my eyes. He acknowledged that. In fact, it's worse because I would be really concerned to have someone like that teaching a kid. Lack of empathy, accountability, and integrity. I mean, I think it's great he's trying to have her back but there are moments in life when you need to draw a line and act swiftly...these are one of those moments. Because ultimately, this impacts the reputation of your camp. I told him that it would be good to offer training to his staff in case this ever happens again in the future and honestly he sounded baffled and asked me to clarify...I said well maybe tell your staff not to give dirty looks to a mom who's clearly upset that her son just got pushed by a grown adult at summer camp?? I told him that the response to this situation could've resulted in a totally different outcome. Had she said something like "I really don't recall pushing you but if I inadvertently did and made you feel bad I'm sorry - I didn't mean to do that" - I would've went home that morning feeling fine about the situation. When I told him this he said that he's not going to police all her reactions, that she's still young, that she's still learning and made all kinds of excuses for her. Exhausting. Apparently she got a "warning" and will sit out of the flag activity (umm, ok...). He seems like a smart guy and wish him nothing but success in the future and I was earnestly trying to offer advice for how to handle a situation like this better but it fell on deaf ears. I really hope that some kind of learning comes out of this for both of them. Oh and to top it off, my son's friend told her mom that Carson was giving her looks several times throughout the day today and when she asked what kind she said "side eye" looks. NOT COOL. My son also said she was kind of mean to him but wondering why they were even in close proximity when Michael said they'd absolutely be separated and would not see each other? Validates we both made the right choice by pulling them both out. He offered a refund but I'm still pissed about the situation.

For my part, I appreciate that there's always a camp available when I need it, sometimes even at the last minute. Popular classes sell out (if you want an anime/Pokémon/Hello Kitty kind of week, get on it), but most don't seem to reach capacity. There are camps for pretty much every school break, including one-day camps for various holidays. Parking is easy, as are drop-off and pick-up. Leo did one day camp last year, then two weeks of summer camp last month. He's a fairly shy kid, and was only willing to sign up because he had friends from school who would be with him. I was pleasantly surprised when he requested to come back for a second week this summer, knowing he wouldn't have any friends in that class. Artist Lab has different themes for each week, and he went for under the sea and pop art. There were different teachers rotating in and out, and to be honest, I never really talked to any of them, though they all seemed quite nice. I dealt with all the administrative stuff through text and email and enjoyed getting photo updates in the text thread. Leo had fun every day, and came home with all kinds of artwork that we're now stuck with until all parties are willing to get rid of them. He made sculptures and paintings and even sewed a little fish. I also liked that he got to learn a little about pop art after a somewhat difficult visit to the Tate Modern earlier in the month. I'm sure we'll be back to Artist Lab next summer, and possibly earlier. Leo will ask for it, and before long, his brother will want in on the action.

To learn these skills in a supportive environment with wonderful classical music surrounded by art everything included it's amazing! Just in a 2-hour session. I took home new skills to apply to my own work. The teacher was phenomenal! Incredibly well-versed, very talented, and passionate, along with humble and inspiring. Love it.

My family (family of 4) had a blast here! We stayed there for about 6 hours. We did the obstacle…read morecourse twice and rented 2 kayaks while we were there. Bought 3 food items and a gatorade. But we spent alittle over $300 there on everything! There is a $35 or $45 entrance fee depending on when you come. It's just to come inside the lagoon. If you want the obstacle course it's an additional $10 per person for 55 mins (super short). If you want to kayak, use the aqua bike or use the paddleboard it's an additional $10 per equipment/item. There is a kiddie area for small and young children. They DO NOT allow outside food or drinks except water! There is a small shop that sells misc. items, snacks & drinks (overpriced). They also had a foodtruck inside that was expensive and the meals didn't come with drinks. They do have plenty of staff and lifeguards there. The entrance fee should of been $15-20. The obstacle course atleast 90-120 mins instead of the 55 mins. Wish the foodtruck came with drinks and was a bigger portion.

My younger son, who is in 2nd grade, went for the first time last year and is already so excited to go back. What really stood out to me was how quickly they both adapted. My younger son joined not knowing anyone and felt welcomed almost immediately. Both of my boys felt included from day one. The staff is incredibly caring, supportive, and attentive. You can truly feel that they work hard to create a safe, joyful environment for the kids, and as a parent that means everything. The activities are fantastic: well planned, age appropriate, engaging, and fun. The natural setting is also beautiful and feels especially important these days. My boys came home with confidence, stories, friendships, and summer memories they will cherish forever. And the camp spirit is real. We still sing the silly songs at home, especially the announcements song whenever we have a family announcement, and the birthday song too. I cannot recommend Cali Camp enough. It has been such a special part of our family's life.

LAAC has changed a lot since my last review from 10 years ago. But it now caters to a younger crowd and has substantial co-working space. I've certain found more members using the facilities but also discovered quite a bit of new programmings like the Pilates classes, mahjong club, live jazz performances and movie nights. I was not really sure about the change at the beginning but I am now fully embracing the new LAAC. Many of the staff and members have been here for a long time and it is nice to be greeted by familiar faces when coming to the club. The restaurants are pretty decent. Love to top my salad with a nice piece of salmon after workout at the Famous Players or have a tasty glass of scotch while enjoying the live jazz performance at the Invention. The sports bar Duke's has great happy hours and fun monthly evening karaoke or chess club meetings. The only thing I complain about is the need for shock absorbance and insulation of the noise or moving the weight station. The northwest corner of the Famous Players near Olive Street shakes every time the weightlifters drop their weights, which is very annoying and distracting for the diners. Feel like the ceiling or floor is going to drop out. No joke. For now, I would sit as far away from the northwest corner as I possibly can. But hope the club would look into it. I have been trying to sign up for the monthly wine tasting but they are always full. Maybe consider having the event more frequently or scale up? Regardless, I am still exploring all the new offerings at the club and really pleased with the Pilates classes and the live music performances. Although I am apprehensive when I first see the co-working space and the influx of new members, I now appreciate the additional events and classes that come with the new members and hope the club continues to do well and do better as I am here to stay.

As usual, water in the room costs money, and there are a few other products with hidden price tags in the room, too. Surprisingly, toothbrush and toothpaste was not provided. The water for showering also doesn't get too hot. In terms of the athletic space, the machines were very easy to access. There was never a wait even on weekend afternoons. The lap pool was my favorite part - clean and calm. There was some miscommunication between the lobby and the store, as one said there is no reservation system but there in fact was. But even when told all the lanes were fully reserved, more than half weren't in use. Parking is a bit of a hassle; for non-members it's definitely not worth it. At the time of visit, the parking machine wasn't working. There are also sperate elevators for parking vs the athletic club / hotel area which was a little confusing. The stair numbers also didn't coordinate the best with actual level.

This is the "Brandon Special" by Esther, not on the menu. I don't know what's in it but it's delish.

Yael and other teacher were so great and attentive with the kids. They were so involved and the whole environment was very inclusive. They took many pictures and videos of the kids so the parents were able to keep track of what the kids are doing. Even though kids were indoor doing their DYI projects, they were also given time to go out to a playground close to the camp venue. The kids were also able to go to Stoner Water Park for one afternoon during the week to cool off in such a hot temperature. I personally like the small group setting so that each kid can have a greater chance to interact with each other. I hope Yael will keep the same format in the future. One minor negative is that the "outside classroom" where we pick up the kids is still kind of hot. Even though kids were sometimes inside the building with AC, but the air circulation wasn't too great. read more

I own and teach at the Robertson Art Zone (RAZ in short from Hebrew, meaning secret and mystery). We opened it as an art studio in December 2018, where we teach various forms of art - painting, clay, woodworking, bookmaking, cartooning, mixed media, jewelry, and design. My daughter has attended Razland for camp a few times. Recently when I asked her what type of camp she wanted to attend for this summer she said Razland and I asked why? Her response was because Razland is where you go to learn art with a purpose. This morning she drew a picture and wrote Bucket list on the top and under it she wrote Razland For followed by her name. We are very grateful for Yael and her entire team at Razland for teaching our daughter art in a meaningful way and for exposing her to different cultures and ethnicities. I just had my daughter's 10th birthday party there. She and her friends had so much fun. The staff were so informative and fun and helpful to the kids. Great environment for Art related activities. They made their own paintings and afterwards made slime. I heard they also have art classes and events for adults as well. Different activities to choose from. Looking forward to that. Our son spent one week at Robertson Art Zone this summer and we wish we'd enrolled him in more sessions. He had so much fun learning about different countries and cultures. He made some fantastic and elaborate art that was beyond anything he'd ever made at school or any other camps. And after we picked him up from camp each day, he would spend the next hour excitedly telling us all the things he learned and did. Yael runs a wonderful program and her enthusiasm is contagious. I once read that there are three places, in general, for young kids to grow and thrive: home, school, and a special third space where they can just be themselves. I went to the pre school class on Tuesdays and my little one love it. She is 2 years and just love the different projects. Since she was one off the younger ones the teacher was so great to help her and also to be flexible as she wanted to do her on thing and not really follow the instructions. The camp struck a great balance between creativity, hands-on building, and having fun. The staff created a welcoming environment where he felt comfortable experimenting and trying new things. It was wonderful to see how proud he was of his projects--and how much confidence he gained along the way. He's already asking when he can go back! I would happily recommend Forge Makerspace to families looking for an engaging and creative camp experience.

Camp leadership were communicative, positive, and supportive. The kids seemed to get a long well and there about 25 of them- a perfect number I think. Highly recommend!

I wanted him to learn more about photo pretty much to improve his Instagram...I was getting tired of only seeing his weird selfies and thought he could benefit from a little more perspective. From the first day I could see he started to understand the power of photography and perception. He made new friends and did some really wonderful portraiture and fashion photography. The most amazing part was the camp was held in the Leica studio! My son loved the staff and mentioned he liked the food too. I think he's really proud of the portfolio he put together during the camp and has come away with a great experience and some really awesome new connections.

I took a wax ring casting workshop where I got to design my own ring. It was challenging but lots…read moreof fun! The entire class consisted of step-by-step instructions on how to size, carve and etch a design on a wax mold. Once complete, you attach your name and contact info on a card so that it can be shipped to you once it has been cast into a brass (or silver) ring. You really learn what goes into designing a piece of jewelry- would definitely take this class again. Will have to remember to post a photo of the finished piece after I receive it!

I knocked down one star bc I ended up paying a minimal fee ($2) for parking as the class went just a little over 2hrs which is the validation period.

There is a super fun new activity to look forward to each day of camp, such as a petting zoo, water play, magic show, bubble party, and so much more! They also have different themed rooms for their favorite activities, such as sewing, a game room, library, and baking. My daughters both excitedly show me their bakery item of the day they helped make! The hours are the best around, open from 8 am to 6 pm, with the flexibility to drop off and pick up at your convenience. They also serve lunch and snacks, so it is a super stress-free summer! I also really appreciate the staff, it truly shows how much they enjoy their jobs and show they care for the kiddos. I wish I had this type of camp when I was growing up! I am so grateful to Steve and Kate's Mar Vista and I highly recommend them!

I feel that she genuinely cares about the children, making sure they have a great time and are well taken care of. One day, my son missed a face-painting opportunity because I picked him up before his turn. He was very sad. After I told Molly about this, she arranged a face-painting session for him hte next day! He was so happy when he came home. I definitely recommend this camp and truly appreciate what they do.

It was awesome to share this space with friends who are just learning about the endless imaginative play that happens because of what is created here. The staff is unmatched with their expertise in making things of all kinds and the ways that they inspire kids to create (shout out to Madisen and Cass!). Our daughter has always loved singing, dancing, and performing, so we were looking for something that would nurture that in a structured, supportive environment. PAW felt like a natural fit. We also joined their Ambassador Program, which helps make camp more accessible--not just for our family, but for others as well.
