We decided to replace our wood burning stove fireplace insert with a gas burning fireplace insert…read more We went to three different retailers and ended up buying from Heath & Home because they seemed the most knowledgeable and because a good friend purchased two gas burning inserts from H&H a few years ago and was very happy with the results. When we ordered the insert on September 13, the owner (Brian) told us that he had just purchased the store (he previously was a rep for Regency Stoves and had operated a smaller retail fireplace store in another location, where he had good reviews). Brian was very knowledge about all brands of inserts (not just the ones he currently sells) and was able to answer all of our questions. Installation was scheduled October 9. On October 8 H&H called us to say that they had received the wrong surround and trim (i.e. not the one we ordered) and offered the option of rescheduling the install (several weeks out) or installing the insert and then coming back to install the correct surround when they received it from the manufacturer. Since they said we could use the stove without the surround (it just isn't pretty). we decided to keep the original install date. The installers arrived on time and did a good job with the installation. Less than a week later H&H called and said they had the correct surround and would install it two days later. Again, they arrived when expected, installed the surround and trim piece and were on their way. The new H&H owner seems a little overwhelmed with taking over a larger business but he is very knowledgeable about the products and they followed through on all of the commitments they made to us. The gas fireplace insert is working well and is a delight!

Beware of This Contractor Contractor Name: Robert Doherty…read moreCompany Name: Blaze Rite Company 4676 Wetzel Rd, Liverpool, NY 13090 I hired this contractor to install a shop-fabricated copper chimney cap on my existing chimney, with all necessary brick repair included. The finished work was unacceptable and did not match what was promised. The brick repair was clearly not completed, and he eventually removed that charge from the bill. The copper cap was supposed to be shop fabricated, but it appeared to be cut and pieced together in the field. It also appeared too large for the chimney, leaving large gaps around the perimeter. Instead of one continuous fabricated copper cap, it was made in three pieces and held together with caulk, which is not what I consider proper shop fabrication. The installation had other serious problems. The existing screened cone at the top of the chimney was not replaced with a copper cone. The top of the cap was not tapered to shed water. I also did not see any fasteners securing the cap to the chimney; it appeared to rely only on caulk. After the problems were raised, he offered to take the cap down and refund my deposit but then reneged on that offer. Now, approximately two years later, the cap is hanging off the corner of the chimney. I would not recommend this contractor based on my experience. The workmanship was poor, the finished product did not match the agreed-upon description, and the follow-through after problems were identified was disappointing. Anyone considering this company should get every detail in writing, including fabrication method, fastening, water-shedding design, materials, and any masonry or brick repair.

We booked it and from beginning to end, it was smooth sailing with them. They consistently told me what was going on, where there technicians were and how much longer the work would be, each day. We had several different crews at different stages in the process and each and every one was great! They showed up on time, text to let us know they were coming, set up protective plastic sheets in the house, wore boot covers while in the house and worked hard each day. For all the work that they did, it was well worth every penny! Once complete, the work is fantastic and now we are enjoying our fireplace. Thank you 4 winds chimney!

Execution of the agreed upon scope of work: 3 of 5. Scope of work included the install of "Full Cover Flat Lid Cap." To date, majority of the scope of work is complete with the exception of installing the cap. Satisfied with the workmanship done so far. The cap hasn't been installed & company is still waiting for delivery. 7 Months into this project when the cap dimensions were taken & I have to arrange for a 2nd install date. Company Warranty Policy: 1 of 5. In order for the company to honor any warranty re-work, the customer has to buy into annual inspections. Based on that, I can't give a full throated recommendation to a neighbor to use this company again
