I had a great experience with 4 winds Chimney service. First time, but I have recommended them 3 times already. We needed an inspection and cleaning which revealed some significant repairs. We booked it and from beginning to end, it was smooth sailing with them. They consistently told me what was going on, where there technicians were and how much longer the work would be, each day. We had several different crews at different stages in the process and each and every one was great! They showed up on time, text to let us know they were coming, set up protective plastic sheets in the house, wore boot covers while in the house and worked hard each day. Disclaimer to start ... Review based on 3/4 of completed service. Inspection process: 5 of 5. Very comprehensive to include a camera inspection of the flue & inner parts of the chimney. Execution of the agreed upon scope of work: 3 of 5. Scope of work included the install of "Full Cover Flat Lid Cap." To date, majority of the scope of work is complete with the exception of installing the cap. Satisfied with the workmanship done so far. The cap hasn't been installed & company is still waiting for delivery. 7 Months into this project when the cap dimensions were taken & I have to arrange for a 2nd install date. Company Warranty Policy: 1 of 5. In order for the company to honor any warranty re-work, the customer has to buy into annual inspections. If I could give this business 0 stars, I would. I have had a faulty gas fire place that I have been waiting to be repaired for months. Each time they come and replace a new part. They have replaced the wall switch, pilot and thermo pile. Along with numerous cancelations. Now they are saying it is the regulator. I had an appointment scheduled today between 7:30 and 8 am and they called and canceled at 20 min to 8 because their tech is sick. I literally live a mile down the road from them and they can't have another tech come? There is only one tech? Thoroughly disgusted with them. If I could use someone else I would. The pilot remains lit so it must be a faulty part they replaced and I'm stuck. Will never use this business again. read more

I had them come out for an estimate to fix 5 spalling bricks and cap off the top of my chimney in preparation for the removal of my gas insert. They wanted over 6 grand. I honestly struggle with how this place gets good reviews. A family friend and I were talking and I told them about my experience. They guessed the name of the company. So what does that tell you? They were also provided with an insane price for the work they needed done. I am an engineer but very handy around the house. Finished my own basement and generally fix things by the book often overkill. When they came in with a price I almost started laughing. What I learned is chimney companies like basement water proofing companies you need to be careful with. Now I know you have to pay for the scaffolding etc but the price for the amount of work I was asking for their price was absolutely ridiculous. Anyways I found an independent mason to do the work and they are also using scaffolding. I also asked for a new shoulder cap based on my own research that they did not even catch. In the end it is your choice but I would find a more independent family outfit before I pay a big company like this for their crazy advertising and other overpriced work. The other thing is a lot of these companies recommend preasure washing. I quite frankly think it is ridiculous and not worth the risk of damanging mortar or brick even at low PSI. read more

Two years ago, I noticed a crack in the chimney brick mortar and realized there were problems. I called Four Winds because I liked their TV ads. A Chimney Sweep and technician came over and showed us a lot of pictures detailing the damage and explained everything to us. A lot of trust is involved as I am not going on the steep roof to touch this chimney. Once we made the repair appointment, Four Winds took care of everything. The worker and supervisor kept us informed as the work progressed. I've had them back for the first annual inspection and everything is working as it should be. The office staff are easy to work with and scheduled annual check-ups on my new chimney. I feel their pricing is fair and reasonable. Why did I wait 2 years to write a review? I'm used to city contractors letting me down. So I've been waiting for something to go wrong. It hasn't!! This company does what it says it will do and they do it well. A plus? Every time they visit I get to shake hands with a real Chimney Sweep and receive blessings of good luck. How can you go wrong? read more

When a downed tree damaged our chimney, we spent TWO months trying to get Four Winds to return phone calls and schedule an inspection after they initially expressed interest in the project. When they finally showed up -- not when agreed upon -- they claimed we needed a full chimney tear-down and replace to the cost of $18,000 to $20,000. I received a very high quote for a job at my new home. I still said yes because I had no idea of the complexity the job entailed. Eli and Justin came to my home on time and got to work. They assessed the job and chose to do it without scaffolding as discussed in the quote. Eli wore a safety harness on the roof, and as a former school principal, I take employee safety as a #1 priority. Three hours later these guys were done, and shook my hand as they left. I inquired about the quote and Erin reviewed the quote and the job completed. She reduced the bill by more than half. Most companies wouldn't do such a generous reduction. I am a satisfied customer. Eli and Justin could not have been better ambassadors of good will for the company. I know I'm not the easiest customer, but Erin handled my anxieties with panache. These guys are the real deal. We had a wood-burning insert installed by another company incorrectly (Cricket) and they refused to fix the problem or even come out to look. The liner was jammed in and twisted and creosote was building up. It was a mess. They explained to us what happened and showed us in the installation guide and in the chimney where the problems occurred. It was difficult to repair the problem, but they did it. They were professional, prompt, and incredibly knowledgeable. You get what you pay for, and in the case of Four Winds Chimney was well worth it. read more

Everything is in writing and they showed up as promised ( which certainly cannot be said about many contractors). I had a complex situation arise and they addressed it immediately by adding additional crew members. Although I thought their pricing was higher than others, the professionalism made up for that. My chimney technician was very thorough. He spent 2 hours at our home inspecting the inside of our chimney, the outside of the chimney and on our roof. He listed any potential areas of concern to be addressed at a future time when it becomes necessary. It's great to have very skilled workers take care of this important and potentially dangerous area of our home. All the employees that we have dealt with at Four Winds Chimney have been professional, knowledgeable and courteous. A yearly inspection brings me peace of mind as our home ages. Terrible service, they came and cleaned my fireplace, left and it was not working. I called and they said when cleaning it the ignitor broke. They wanted to charge me $900 to fix something they broke. When they came back to fix it at no charge because I complained the tech was not very nice and before he left there was a spot in the glass and he said it was from our dog. Um it was on the inside of the glass!!! He just didn't want to take it apart and clean it again so he did it but with an attitude. I just happened to call this business for a quote. At first I thought the price might be a little higher than the competitors then it was explained the company uses a camera to fUlly inspect the chimney. This was a no brained for a few extra bucks I would have eyes all the way up my chimney! The appointment availability was perfect for my schedule. A few days before my appointment I received an email notifying me of who (names) would be arriving to perform the cleaning and inspection. Morning of the appointment both Jason and Nathan showed up as promised. They arrived in a Company Van and dressed in the companies hoodies, tshirts, beenies and there was no question they worked for Four Winds. They were careful to prepare the house to ensure they did not make a mess of the house, they told you what they were doing as they were doing it, answered your questions as you asked them. Both men were very knowledgeable. They had great personalities! When they broke out the camera and they were inspecting the chimney they took the time to explain what they saw, what was normal, expected, what was typical, and what was needing to be repaired. What they saw in the camera I know other companies would not have seen with the naked eye. I feel so safe and satisfied knowing I chose this company. I also received an on the spot estimate which unexpected and was less than I expected - they even offer Military Discount! If I could give more than 5 stars I would!
