One of my favorite go too places for good vegan food, it's not a hard core vegan restaurant but food is great!

Pretty standard bar atmosphere. They have a sign up stating to wait to be seated, but nobody was…read moremanning the front desk. It would do them good to have someone install a cellular booster since there's barely any reception inside. The bar itself is very limited, but the food has an extensive amount of items. Prices are too much for what it is. I paid $24 for a double shot of Bombu, a low tier rum, which is literally as much as the entire bottle costs. Added an oxtail dinner and lemonade to the mix and the price easily jumped up to over $60 with a mandatory gratuity of 18%. Funny thing is the point of sale system not only adds the tip automatically, but if you choose to add your own tip...THAT IS AN EXTRA TIP on top of the mandatory gratuity so buyer beware. I suspect that's where a lot of the negative ratings stem from since the system is double dipping. Initially they said they were out of most lemonades, but they just hadn't restocked the fridge which is odd not to check that before the weekend afternoon rush. After that, pretty much all of the lemonade flavors were full. The place itself is clean. It filled up quick with a moderately noisy crowd in the short time I was there. As the place got busier, someone finally came to work the front desk which was about 20 minutes from when I initially entered. The food came out in good time. The oxtails were fatty and tender, but could use more seasoning. They came with garlic bread, red beans and rice along with two sides. I chose the mac-n-cheese as well as the dirty rice. The mac-n-cheese stole the show as it was flavorful and fresh. The dirty rice was lukewarm at best and you could tell it had either been sitting for a bit or they had just pulled the rice out of the fridge to add the meat and didn't give things a chance to heat up. The mango lemonade was good and I ended up mixing it with the bombu which made it even better. If you're not a fan of high sugar drinks, I would stay away from the lemonades. Overall S2 Grill caters to a particular audience and that seems to be black women. The ratio of women to men being more like 5 to 1 inside proved that. They understandably don't take cash at all which limits the chances of them being robbed and having to deal with counterfeiters considering the area. Waitresses come by often to make sure you're good. The food offerings are hit or miss with a side dish easily outshining what's supposed to be the entree. I didn't expect much going in, but S2 Grill didn't surprise me either. A few changes could make it above a middle of the road experience.

Why is this place overall rating 3 stars?? LIES!! This place is phenomenal! 10/10!! Go Here!…read more My husband suggested we dine here so on 6/5/26 we did just that. I was curious to see how it looked inside for a couple of reasons: their location by me on 103rd is take out only and I've been to this 87th street location many times in the past when it was BJ's Market that owned it. Stepped inside and was WOWed! They really did a phenomenal job renovating the space. It's beautiful decor with the chandeliers and the trees - makes you feel like you're outside but with a posh setting with the lights and the royal benches! I LOVED it! Our server was Mesha and she was GREAT! Funny, personable, informative on recommendations for food/drinks. We ordered the flavored lemonade, it came in a bottle. I had the mango - it was okay, could be more mango flavor. They have alcoholic drinks and the next time I want to try their daiquiris! For food, we ordered the pot roast and the steak. I wanted the oxtails but they were sold out. Kinda glad they were because that pot roast almost made me cry it was so good. Tender, flavorful, just good. The yams and green beans were good also, very fresh. Hubby's steak was huge and off the chain good. The portions are plentiful as we took to go containers home with us. Sidenote: the lamp chop dinner is a must have also, have had that several times for take out. So good! They had good r&b music playing. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves whether seated in the dining area or at the bar watching the NBA finals game on the big screen TVs. For all what we got, the prices were definitely fair we felt. Can't wait to come back here. Perfect spot for a date night. I always love to support businesses that employ alot of young people and they have and they work hard there and were very respectful. Support this black owned business - this is definitely a good one. Thanks S2 Grill!

Y'all! When I tell you, if you visit Chicago, this is a MUST-TRY BBQ spot! 10/10 -- definitely…read morerecommend! I ordered the wings and fries, and they did not disappoint. The wings were cooked to perfection--super flavorful with an amazing texture. The fries were crispy and seasoned perfectly! Apparently, there's this thing in Chicago where they drown your fries in sauce... OMG, DELISH! The sauce can definitely be overpowering, though, so if you're not a fan of a lot of sauce, I'd recommend asking for it on the side. All of the workers were very friendly, and they worked quickly to get everyone their food. This is a to-go BBQ joint, so be prepared to grab your food and head out. It's a fairly small space, but it was clean. I will say the line was pretty long, so pack your patience, but trust me, the wait is absolutely worth it. Even with a long line, the staff kept things moving and got everyone's orders out surprisingly fast.

I placed a catering order for New Year's Eve (NYE). The catering order process follows:…read more - you physically wait in line to place a catering order. - catering orders must be placed and paid for at least 24 hours in advance. - when picking up, you don't stand in-line again. You go to the backdoor and ring the bell at your agreed to date and time. - I ordered the rib tips ($85) and ribs ($130). Pics attached. I separated each item into 2 separate pans to put half in the refrigerator. The pics give you an idea of how much it is. Great value and the food was amazing. P.S.: On NYE, The line was the longest I've ever seen it. This was the way to go and I froze some for later. Edited to add: catering items are ala carte (no fries). Also, I got both items with no sauce. They typically come drenched in sauce. Paid $9 for a quart of sauce on the side -- not everyone in my crew wanted sauce.

I ordered the JBL. It's better than some BBL's and a whole lot less expensive.
