Finally a restaurant in Chicago where the taste and heat level of ALL the food on my plate meets my expectations. The owner/chef is Paulette who is a sweetheart and will take good care of you. There's a single table which is more for waiting than eating. They do accept credit cards. Dinners consisting of meat, beans & rice plus two sides typically run under $10 bucks while the seafood dishes are a little more. The portions are very generous. Metra trains run down the middle of 71st Street so pay heed to the "Yield" signs which are all over the place here. Of course the jerk chicken is the dish to get. I have a weakness for curry, so I got some of that to go also. The dinners are served on a generous bed of rice and beans and come with two sides. For one side I got steamed cabbage. Paulette works her magic even on the lowly cabbage which is seasoned to culinary nirvana. Oxtails. Curried goat. Talk about authentic! They even had escoviched fish on the menu which is akin to a ceviche. And then there's callaloo which is like spinach and I've had it only in Jamaica. Jared S. was the First to Review this place and he uses the word "spectacular" to describe it. Totally agree. So after eating food from here I have this urge to go out and have my hair braided...

This is a hidden gem! The customer service is excellent, fast and friendly! I'm a creature of habit, I usually have jerk chicken with plantains, cabbage and rice (DELICIOUS). So I was a bit apprehensive when it was suggested that I try the lobster, but it was AMAZING! The lobster over with rice garnished with onions and peppers was seasoned perfectly! The potato salad and green salad really complimented the lobster and rice. As usual I was very pleased with the service and food!

We ordered a jerk chicken dinner and a white jerk chicken dinner. They sent a jerk chicken dinner and the other container had 3 sides. No white jerk chicken dinner was sent. The driver lied and said he delivered the correct order. These pictures show what we received. Don't trust this place. Customer service is non-existent.

    Curry Goat Dinner Special

I ordered my fave: curry goat and it was terrible. I'm starting to think this isn't goat on the plate I'm looking at. The flavor was horrid. The jerk chicken and max&cheese are delicious though. The rice and peas are bland and kind of old tasting! If you order from here just get jerk chicken. The curry goat isn't worth it.

    Good yams

Uber eats order terrible no callaloo or string beans after they called to let me know cabbage wasn't available

The taste was amazing. Very authentic. The carrot/onion topping tasted slightly pickled. That flavor along with the smoked, well seasoned catfish steaks, made an amazing pair. The macaroni & cheese was baked flavorfully and cheesy. My only problem was the yams. They were not candied and deliciously sweet like your grandmother would make them. They were simply steamed and that's all. Nothing special. If they were southern candied yams, this would have been the perfect dinner

Was visiting a friend who just moved to the neighborhood and was looking for a place that had take out. By chance I came across Royal Caribbean Jerk and ordered a variety of dishes including the jerk chicken and oxtails. I am not very familiar with Jamaican food however the food was spectacular. On top of the amazing food the price was extremely reasonable and the the food came out very quickly. I did not have to wait but just 10 minutes for my food to be prepared. If you love juicy flavorful food I highly recommend Royal Caribbean Jerk!!!!

    a chicken and rice dish

I've only ordered from this place twice on Uber eats, however each time the food wasn't of great quality. Today, I ordered curry chicken with a side of rice and beans and cabbage. It was horrible, small portions and the food didn't taste like jerk. I ordered a veggie Pattie, and it wasn't done. Last, they gave me one jerk sauce. I'm sticking to Uncle Joe's , Ja Grill, and Jerk Villa this place doesn't know the meaning of jerk and they're expensive smh.

I grabbed the 2 meat, 3 side special which included: stewed chicken, jerk chicken, rice and peas, cabbage and plantains. There's a solid amount of food and I'm going to be eating on this over the next two days. There's rice and peas were incredibly flavorful, moist and had a hint of spice. The stewed chicken's skin was falling off! That's how tender it was and I love anything with bell peppers and onions. The cabbage was solid with great crunch. Sometimes it can get too mushy, but this didn't. The plantains were just right!! Great palate cleanser as I transitioned to the jerk chicken! And the jerk chicken was a hit!!! Good amount of spice and flavor! And juicy! I also had extra jerk sauce on the side. Hmmmm I honestly enjoyed both chickens and would say if you're unsure of which to get, just get both... you'll definitely order from here again lol I ordered through uber eats and naturally was PRAYING that my order was correct and it was. A nice hefty serving and of course I also have a slice of the caramel cake. Mannn this slice of cake is so dang delicious. The two miles that I run tomorrow for this will be so worth it! This hit the spot and was the meal I needed after the day that I've had!

I had never been to the brick-and-mortar location until now. I stopped in one Sunday afternoon to a restaurant that was not busy on the inside. I noticed there was a steady stream of individuals coming in for carryout. Nevertheless, I had a sit-down so that I could try a few items. I ordered the Belizean appetizer sampler. This came as panades, garnaches, and conch fritters. I liked the panades, which were corn patties stuffed with buffalo fish. They were nice and flavorful. The garnaches reminded me of Venezuelan tostadas. I think that what was a miss for this dish was the drizzle of ketchup. Since I stopped using condiments from grocery stores, the flavor of such tends to ruin dishes for me. I liked the conch fritters. I would order those by the bagful just to have for snacks. My main dish was the stew chicken with rice and beans and a side of plantains. Surprisingly, this was more like baked chicken. There was no hint of cumin, cloves, or garlic. There were no tomatoes. There wasn't a sauce or a gravy. There was flavor, of which I give them that, but the same stew that I've had in Belize and in my Belizean friends' home was not served here. It very well may be that the dish prepared here simply differs from that which I have had before. It wasn't a bad thing. Not everyone prepares every dish the same way.

Jerky Jerk is THE SPOT!…read more We wanted something better than stadium food before the Bulls game. And the three of us love Jamaican food, specifically, jerk chicken and curry goat. So as soon as Jerky Jerk showed up on my Yelp search, I knew my search had ended, and that we found our pre-game dinner spot. Jerky Jerk blew my expectations out of the water. I'm a Chicago native, but I live in LA, where I'm lucky to be surrounded by many delicious Jamaican food spots. But Jerky Jerk has the best jerk chicken I've ever had. When I say that the smoky, slightly sweet, tender, fall-of-the-bone experience hit the spot, I mean that it HIT THE SPOT! Even the rice & peas and cabbage were cooked and spiced to perfection. All three of us devoured our plates in about ten minutes. I also love the colorful and lively Chicago sports murals that fill each wall, as well as the hospitable and vibrant service from the owners. They absolutely rock. They throw a party inside, and they make you feel welcomed and right at home. Jerky Jerk is now a non-negotiable stop when visiting Chicago. This place slaps.
