    "Fish Tacos" for taco Tuesday!
    Erica R.

We had to come back for the corn ribs and fish tacos! Last time we got the "calamari" and that was delicious as well. Highly recommend! So many great natural products to purchase as well.

We have no words to describe how amazing our experience was. The service was top-notch, everyone welcomed us warmly, guided us through the menu, gave us great recommendations, and checked in often to make sure we had everything we needed. But let me tell you the best part... the food! I have never seen such huge vegan Mexican menu in one restaurant. Every single dish looks and tastes absolutely delicious. But the one thing you cannot miss is the oatmeal flan... OMG it's a total Must! My husband and I are already planning our next visit. Plus there's a small amazing store there with so many herbs. Everybody needs to go

    Calamari (coconut meat)

Finally had time to stop in for lunch. Plenty of seating and friendly vibes inside. We sat down and quickly ordered then walked around the front to look at organic/clean items you can also buy there. The calamari quickly came out and wow it reminded me of the real thing. Couldn't believe you can turn coconut meat into that and fry it perfectly. Even the cocktail sauce was spot on! Next came the tacos. Fresh made tortillas with a great verde sauce. Pastor tacos were full of flavor and the mushrooms were great. The jackfruit birria was a game changer. Tasted like the real thing. The nopales also had great texture. Rice and beans were so good and each bite reminded me of a home cooked meal.

    Tres Taco Dinner

The food was authentic and delicious, friendly service and lots of different options. I had the tres taco dinner and calamari.

Stopped in after flying home as they are fairly close to Midway and on the way home to NW Indiana. Sandra, the owner was so welcoming and she recommended the calamari as an appetizer. I'm so glad I took her advice, it's a very large serving, enough to share and was the closest thing I've had to calamari that I e had since going vegan 7 years ago. I then ordered the mushroom quesadilla and wow, the best vegan quesadilla I've ever had. The cheese had amazing flavor and the mushrooms were seasoned just perfectly. I topped it all off with the cookies and ice cream and had to bring one of the cookies home. Great dense cookies that had the perfect saltiness. Can't wait to be back and try more menu items.

The chilaquiles, and gorditas were delicious! I love everything that this establishment believes in and it shows through how delicious their food is! They cook everything in avocado oil and the ingredients they use in substitution of animal products is on point! Mushrooms, jackfruit, all functional foods! The owners are so sweet and passionate about spreading wellness and making sure your experience in one of a kind. I love coming here, even if it's just to grab a matcha (best matcha I've ever had) or a homemade ice cream! It's so clean and welcoming. They have everything you could possibly think of if you're a wellness junky like me!

After driving by this place so many times we finally got a chance to try it and must say this place is top 3 food places in the area! I will say I was skeptical at first but very very pleasantly surprised! I had the taco dinner and my wife had the Gordita's, both were big portions and weren't skimpy on the fillings. We also had sugar cane water ( one with lime, one without) and they were both delicious. A definite MUST TRY even if you've never had anything fully vegan.

Tamale in red mole, rice & beans. I took it home.
    Robin A.

This morning, I had a delicious breakfast experience at Abuelito Coco, a multigenerational, family owned Mexican, vegan restaurant in Oak Lawn. 100% plant based family! I was attracted by the mole tamales on the menu, I LOVE mole! And vegan mole is hard to find. They not only have red mole, they have green mole too. However, I decided to stay and dine in because of the pristine, inviting, and peaceful atmosphere. I broke my fast earlier than normal to enjoy something from their breakfast menu. I started with a "tequila" shot, which is actually a ginger shot with lemon, cayenne pepper, and of course, a slice of key lime, it did the job. The owner, an Oak Lawn native, sold me on the herbal coffee. Not coffee at all, no caffeine, just warm, healthy goodness in a cup. It was so nourishing, I bought the mix to make it at home when I wanted something warm and comforting. I chose their delicious Huevos a la Mexicana - so good! It was fresh, and yummy, and tasted like home, mainly because EVERYTHING is homemade. I will definitely order it again. The mole tamales, which I ordered to go, did not disappoint! I barely got to eat them because I was sooooo full from breakfast and the pozole Executive Chef, Sandra, gave me sample of. It was so tasty y'all, and it's only available on the weekend, along with the tamales and menudo. They have fresh smoothies (I sampled the In the Clouds - yum!)cold pressed juices, traditional desserts, açaí, and more. Please, go see for yourself. And look at the cute homemade tortillas wrapped in the handmade, embroidered cloth. Calvillo, which is embroidered on it, is abuelito's home. It's personal touches like this that let you know the food is authentic and filled with love. Abuelito Coco is a real gem and a welcome addition to the Southside! I can't wait to go back and try their flan.

Tres tacos ... healthy, delicious, yum

Amazing flavors and super cool vibe ... in Chicago from Texas and found this place just south of Chicago Midway .... Great service and among the best combo of healthy and delicious ... nicely done and I'll be back!!!

Corn Ribs, yeah put it on the list. So good.
    Sal B.

Been here a few times, food is so good that I forget to take pictures, not this time!! Well, except for the corn in a cup, more like a big bowl. We dove in so quick, forgot to take a picture before we violated it! Coffee.... We both had lattes that were crafted w care, so wonderful. Apps.... Corn in cup: Nice big bowl of crispy corn with plenty of ingredients to complement it. Just so good, ya don't want it to end. Corn "Ribs": Yeah more corn, just one look and you're hooked before ya try them. The crema and Coco Salsa are a perfect addition to this delicious and beautiful dish. "Calamari": What? Huh? Coconut meat? Okay, I'll try it. What in the world is going on in this place?!! My mind is blown, what just happened?!! Crispy on the outside, so tender in the middle. The cocktail sauce was great too. I swing both ways, I mean my son calls me vegan fluid, lol. This makes makes me rethink real Calamari, this may actually be better. I'm Italian, those words don't come easy. Dinner.... Yeah, we were so full already, but had to keep pushing Pozole: Smokey red chili broth, I could sip on all day! Jackfruit was so tender and chickpeas were done right. They nailed it again. "Fish" Tacos: Yeah, more coconut meat. Had to give it another go in a different version. Nice big crispy and tender pieces, cold creamy coleslaw on top w chipotle mayo. The taco itself was also delicious. Flavorful rice and guac nicely complement this dish. It's a must have. Dessert, lol, just had to squeeze more food in..... Wife had a Chocolate Concha. Usually concha's come up short for me, but not at this place. I took a bite :) They just don't miss. It was delicious. It was finally time to waddle out of there. In closing..... The owner is always amazing and there all the time, super friendly. Actually remembered us and what we ordered last time! Food is always consistent, the quality is top notch, portions are big, food is beautifully presented and you can tell they care about it. Just look at all the photos on yelp, the meals are always presented the same. You can see what your gonna get and actually get it! You need to realize you're at a real special place, you are NOT going to get this food anywhere else. So treat yourself, splurge a little, you're not gonna regret it. Thank you Abuelita Coco for NOT making miss meat or dairy when I go there. So much love for this place, just wish it was closer to the city. Maybe someday, one can only wish.

    Horchata y jamaica

Abuelita Coco is a must try! For drinks, we enjoyed the the jamaica and horchata, both were great!! DEFINITELY order the calamari (even if you don't like coconut, this is a 10/10!). Açai bowl was refreshing and perfectly sweet. The asada burrito was a good portion with homemade chips and verde salsa, yum. Great vibes inside and welcoming staff make this place feel like your second home. Thank you Abuelita Coco!!

And the thing about us going there, was to support and for the experience but now, I felt ignored and honestly there are plenty other places I would have rather went but to be a small business, you should acknowledge ALL your customers! I had placed many online orders for pick-up on my 30min lunch break, to ensure I had proper time to drive to, pick up my food, and quickly drive back from the restaurant. After a few pick-ups took around 20mins after promised time, I was pretty upset. I was told they only start making food once the person is there to pick it up, so I asked what's the point of placing an order online and receiving a pick-up time, when the food only starts to get made once you're at the restaurant to pick up? That's when the owner stepped in (My family and I have had many pleasant convos with him before at the old location), turned red, bunched up his face, and legit yelled at me "What do you expect? Do you want your fries to be cold or do you want them fresh?" (I was taken aback, and responded "I expect my order to be ready at the time indicated"). He told me I could go elsewhere. I get it. I was receiving consistently poor service and was upset when I asked the cashier about timing, so he stepped in to defend his worker. What I don't get is how you can tell a customer to go somewhere else when they're expecting their food at the time promised (or at least within 5 mins...I'm not THAT picky). Perhaps my expectations are too high?

We came in and waited to be greeted by the hostess. Maybe 10 minutes passed and 2-3 other groups also came in before we saw the hostess and she had the sourest attitude I've seen that wasn't a snotty teenager arguing with their mom. The tables were so close together and booths tight that multiple groups had to adjust chairs or add chairs to a booth to be able to fit their group of 4 comfortably. Tables were left dirty & covered with dishes - two tables we're left uncleared for the entire 2+ hours we were there until the hostess with the horrific attitude cleared one glass at a time with a truly horrible look on her face. At one point when the hostess was walking back to the front from the kitchen, a young child (maybe 3-4) was politely walking to her table and the hostess said something to the effect of "get out of my way" - to a toddler, behaving perfectly reasonably and the hostess wasn't even carrying anything that might topple over. Our waitress was not much better than the hostess. While she was mostly pleasant, after 45 minutes we had to flag her down to ask where our appetizer was and she apologized before bringing it out 10 minutes or so later. It wasn't so busy that the kitchen was behind - I think she just forgot to put the order in or the kitchen forgot to fire it. We had placed our dinner order at the same time, and that came out shortly after the appetizer for 3 of the 4 of us. The 4th member of the party had to wait 10 minutes or so for her chicken wrap to come out. Flagging down our waitress for the check was also a challenge. She would disappear for long stretches of time. Service was truly appalling and we were there for over 2.5 hours for what we had expected would be a quick and delicious dinner. I won't go back.
