Been using the bagged supplements as soil amendments and in compost teas to great success. The bar harbor blend; pink bag basic topsoil with perlite and bark with other goodies is great for seedlings-small plants you can get into some very nice long lasting mixes the more you look into their own bagged mixtures and combinations of compost to fit your specific needs. Try and find dry bags or retailers who don't leave them in the rain fungus gnats love this stuff and will hunker down.

Horrible service. The owner was rude and snooty. After…read morehooking her door open I asked "is it okay to come in?" She snapped back "I guess!" I say "I can wait if you need me to" "nope! Come in". So I do, awkwardly, feeling like I'm an inconvenience but wondering why she hooked her door open at all. After browsing for a few moments while she prepares out back, she returns. I shyly ask if it's okay to take any pictures as I was going to use her beautiful space that I love for a presentation at school, (horticulture). She frantically throws up her hand telling me no and acting really frantic. I understand hard days, and I understand stress, but for the love of your community, keep your door locked on days where you just can't be bothered. I threw out any desire to feature her store or purchase any of the great items I saw around me and got out of there as fast as possible.

PRO TIP: This would be a lovely place to bring a coffee and spend an hour wandering around in the middle of winter. It's so warm and bright in here! An employee watering some plants asked me if I needed help, then walked me over to their Low Light Plant section. There were half a dozen or so smaller snake plants available, several of them showing new growth already! They were $10; I feel like that's exactly what I was expecting/hoping to pay. When I was cashing out, the person in front of me was buying a bouquet of flowers. The employee at the register softly inquired if they were for any special occasion. Come to find out they were a surprise for his wife "just because"; the employee then wrapped them up in such a pretty, thoughtful way (and I don't think he was charged for it). So the second you step out of your car and approach the greenhouse, your imagination kicks into gear. It's much more helpful than shopping rows and clumps of plants without really seeing them next to their garden mates. Also a great selection of native plants. The prices are higher than a big box store but comparable to other local nurseries. And the staff has always been helpful and friendly when I have questions.

They had a gazillion pumpkins and all different types of gourds this time of year, but at the front of each of the greenhouses were a variety of plants from small succulents to giant birds of paradise. Outside there was a selection of pots, but like most places they were out of terra cotta pots. Lots of mums and fall arrangements, and their farm market had a really nice selection of wine, produce, and dairy products. Parking was painless and checking out was easy enough. I'd love to come back here in the spring when things are ramping up.

And those that remained still seemed stuck in 1980's funereal-style arrangements... lots of mums or stargazers and filler. But Yelp helped me narrow down a few possibilities. And I was super delighted to find Fiddlehead Florals! Fiddlehead Florals checked off all my boxes... gorgeous & modern design with beautiful, sustainably-sourced and seasonal/local flower selections; excellent and easy customer service over the phone where the designer (I think owner?) listened to what I hoped to have delivered and helped me arrive at my final decision; and they worked all of this within my targeted budget without trying to just upsell me at their sales target. I found their prices very reasonable for the service, delivery, and of course their selection of beautiful flowers. Since this is a 10th Anniversary, I wanted something dramatic, colorful, and seasonal. I called with almost 2 weeks lead time, and my requested delivery to outside the Portland area was no problem. The florist who took my call was cheerful, gracious, and incredibly helpful in my decision making. We decided upon a designers choice featuring a strong peony base as these were now apparently in season (plus I knew the couple loved them). The gal on the phone said she'd check to see if she could get a white Orchid, as she did not have one in the shop. I didn't hear back from the clerk but my Aunt did call and said she received the orchid. I don't know what it looked like as my Aunt is elderly and doesn't snap shot from her phone. I guess it was nice, I hope so. It would have been nice to receive a photo from the shop itself, since I am so far away.
