Great gym, plenty of equipment, professional staff, clean. The place is huge compared to my last gym. Power lifting rooms, outside covered area for tires and push sleds. They have a private room for older folk to get group training, a martial arts room. They have plenty of aerobic equipment. Unfortunately there's some children in there that don't know how to put their weights away when they're done and dont put cable attachments back on the holding racks. That's typical in any every gym. The great thing about this gym is the members are there to actually workout. You don't see a lot of people just on their phones or videoing themselves. The new cardio equipment is really cool. You can sync them to your smartwatch. I like how they arranged the machines. I'm not sure why there's rarely a staff member up front. They have a cooler for drinks and it wasn't stocked well, now it's not stocked at all. I do think they are missing out on an opportunity there by not having it stocked with waters and protein shakes. The women's locker room is always clean, but the bathroom stalls need to be painted and the doors fixed. I like that they have the sauna, but it doesn't get as hot as other gym's do. read more

They don't repair broken equipment, and currently can't even replace the batteries in the wall clock- it's been dead for a few weeks now. I only work out here on the days when I am not working out with my wife at Planet Fitness, which is a much nicer facility and charges half as much. read more

I've been going here for 4 years now and it's usually dirty. Sanitizer is usually out. Paper towels? Available at select locations around the gym, while being unstocked at all others. Basically, it doesn't seem like anyone's cleaning equipment regularly or keeping sanatizer or paper towels stocked around the gym. They usually have someone upfront or in the back room near the front desk but they're always chillin'. Not sure what their job duties are, maybe enrollments only? Also, where is the manager on duty? It's like no one takes pride in this place. There are a lot of areas of opportunity here to bring this establishment up to standard. I dont feel like l'm asking for a lot. On the bright side, they replaced a lot of the cardio equipment recently, and I like that. read more

Platinum fitness is hands down, the best gym in Tucson if you want friendly staff, and a spacious workout area. it is the place to go. Rarely have to fight a crowd to get a workout in. Most folks there are there to workout and not stare at the phone while holding up equipment like modt other gyms. I would give them a negative rating if it were possible. I terminated membership because of the extremely poor conditions of the gym. It was essentially in filthy condition. I rendered proper 30 day notice as required by my agreement, and THEY CONTINUE TO BILL ME IRREGARDLESSLY. Once you join this GYM, you can get out! Beware and Avoid this pit. Staff is extremely friendly but... Showers are NASTY! There were only 4 and one was broken. The others were clearly not cleaned in weeks. There were dead bugs on the shower floor and thick dust build up on top of the soap dispensers. Drainage is also a problem. Machines were ok but a lot of them looked like they were purchased from several garage sales and mismatched. Enough cardio machines and free weights. Apparently there is a cinema but I didn't check it out. Overall...not remarkable. read more

I have been a Platinum fitness member for many years now and they have finally helped me cancel my membership with them. Over the years of being a member I have seen many great people decide to leave after dealing with management at this gym. The equipment is continuing to fall apart and there is not a continuous cleaning crew helping stop any COVID Spread. The user is the main cleaning crew with a person actively cleaning yet to be seen regularly during my visits. Now for the best part..... Today is the last day for any group fitness classes and childcare. We had a weeks notice conveniently right after all of us that pay at the beginning of the month were charged. They say we need to give a months notice to cancel but they can change available services without proper notice at all... IMO this criminal and should not be acceptable.... IF YOU ARE A PARENT.....this is not the gym for you. They no longer support you as a member with childcare. If you are one of the people like my wife and I that only use the gym for group fitness including CROSSFIT, This is not the gym for you. Do not do business with these thieves! Was a customer of 3 years but sadly management decided to cancel all group classes and childcare overnight with no notice. They then charged members who cancelled an additional month, citing a 30-day cancellation notice requirement in our contracts despite the fact that they no longer offered the services listed in these contracts and cancelled the services with no notice whatsoever. Also equipment is old, maintenance is infrequent and bathrooms are usually dirty. Avoid this place and its hypocritical management at all costs. read more

The gym is very clean and well kept. Especially right now with COVID they are keeping up the cleaning. The girls in the daycare section are amazing. Only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because some of the front staff is so unfriendly and don't know how to smile. New management has horrible customer service skills. I was a 4 year member and basically gave them free advertising on my FB page, because I posted my workouts, almost daily. They treated me like trash when I left. Specifically, "Danny," the older gentleman. And a gentleman, he is not! The day my membership expired, his demeanor changed for the worse, because I would not renew my membership with them! He would not allow me to workout my last day, which was Feb. 19. He ignored me when I spoke to him and was pretending to type and be busy on his computer. Extremely unprofessional, petty and immature! I immediately signed up across the street at LA Fitness, which is immaculate and less expensive... who knew? Platinum has high management turnover. The most I have seen at a business, ever! The side of the building (where we jog) is covered with trash, even furniture that has sat out there for years! The facility is outdated. Crossfit takes Studio Fit's weights. The room is heated and unbearable! If a fan or stereo system breaks, be prepared to wait a month before it gets fixed! The astroturf outside is filthy. Im certain it's spewing with germs! It never gets cleaned, despite the number of times we ( members) have suggested it, in the comment box. They are just out for your money and don't care about quality customer service. My husband and I had Covid and did not attend for over a month. Although I called to notify them, I was told that, my prepaid in full for a year, would not be extended for a month, because I did not tell them about my absence prior to getting the virus. Is that the most ridiculous thing you have ever heard? I emailed the owner and he never responded, it's been two weeks! This is a business that had their Speedway location closed permanently, because of Covid and they can't empathize? I was told by LA that if it's Covid related, what they are doing to me, is illegal. Prior to that location being closed, they closed down two other gyms! No wonder...they can't retain their customers! Do yourself a favor and shop around. Go to Platinum first and compare the fees, aesthetics, equipment, customer service skills, and cleanliness to any of the gymnasiums in Tucson. I guarantee you will not sign up with Platinum! The only positive comment I can make, is that the trainers are amazing and I learned a lot from them over the years. I will miss them dearly. I've joined, left, and joined again. I tossed around the idea of the other gyms n my area but this one is closest to my house. I love the sauna although I wish there would be a rule that you have to keep your clothes on. Some females enjoy using it with only the undies--I would prefer to not see ya in the nude all the time. The machines are good & serve their purpose but I don't understand why some of them are unplugged? It's not like they are broken because hopefully a sign would be placed to indicate as such. I have noticed that 2 treadmills will stop for no reason or not increase in speed --those people using them hopefully informed the front desk. The huge "Big Ass Fans" as they are called--yes that's what they are called lol generate good amount of air flow although it can get really cold n the cinema room! Yes cinema room! Workout n low light and watch a movie-i enjoy this feature enough to keep going in there even if for just a warm up or cool down I think the shower stalls (obviously I can only speak for the Ladies room) needs to have the door closures that don't leave gaping space. I prefer my privacy when I change and use the facilities. I will say that they always keep it clean. That's a must in my book! Hand sanitizer is available at every corner/wall as well as spray and paper towels to wipe down your machine. There is a children's room for those parents who bring theirs in but I don't use this option so can't speak on behalf of that. All n all-not too shabby of a gym. It's a great alternative instead of feeling the pressure/meat market of other gyms. read more

Gym is ok, but the admin and front desk staff need training. Recent went in to cancel my membership in August! (it's Oct) and I'm still getting billed. I drove 30 min across town to fill out the paperwork and was told my membership would end 9/20. I called to fix it and they have no paperwork, was informed by staff (Rachel?) that they would refund and hard stop my membership. Then she hung up, without even saying anything cut me off mid question... customer service training would be ideal. read more

I am owed over $1600 for personal training that I pre-paid at the Ina and Oracle location. They closed with just a four day notice. I have tried repeatedly to call the other locations in for some mysterious reason they are not answering calls. I would imagine there is a pretty good chance that the other locations will be closing soon. Guess it's time to spend money on an attorney to recover my loss from this company. Updated review: I feel really bad about this, but here is my update. Six months ago I would have cancelled my membership in a heartbeat because I felt inconvenienced. I don't know if it's because I'm still a somewhat chubby girl, and the gym can be somewhat intimidating still, but the fact is that I've dropped over 100lbs. I have lats now. And baby obliques. I'm staying at this gym because I am comfortable here. I'm staying here because I enjoy my morning workouts. Without fail. About 6 days a week. Here is what happened this morning. After being a member for about three months, and going to Speedway on Sunday's for chest day and GL the rest of the days for everything else, I have a system. Go to the gym, check in, do my thing, tan, leave. So today a blonde possibly member of management female gave me a hard time while checking in. She asked me where I signed up. When I asked what her issue was she said that the other people that check me in are supposed to get this information every single time I go. Oh really? So you're going to harass me each time I go to the gym even though I pay $30/mo to be able to go to any platinum? I literally pay extra so I can go workout with my squad no matter where we are in Tucson, but now each time I'm going to have to draw unnecessary attention to myself simply because I signed up on Speedway and then go more frequently at Golf Links? If I wanted to deal with pretentious staff, I would have signed up at LA Fitness. I'm so serious. I'm irritated, but I will still be there, same as always, doing my thing. Smh. This is my new gym home. It's clean, the staff is attentive enough, and there is enough equipment to not have to work in on someone's set. That's nice. The price is meh. I can't say anything good or bad about it. What I can say is that it's nice to see the mixture of people there. There's a butt ton of equipment. I've only really seen one or two instances of icky gross not wiped down stuff so that's good. :) Most. MOST of the front desk staff is nice enough. There is one that should never work in public but that's okay. I'll just glare when she checks me in. It's whatever. Maybe she's having a bad year. Maybe she doesn't like customers. Or her job. I've been a member for over a year at this gym. When I joined there was more space for standard level members. In the past 6mo the gym has trended toward favoring "premium level" (their words not mine) members which are those paying for either group lessons or Crossfit. Several areas are now completely off limit to standard level which makes for crowding and waiting to get on equipment if you're there during peak hours. Gym has multiple out of service equipment at all times. I'm moving my gym usage to a different nearby gym. Cons: Waits to use equipment, dirty, broken stuff. Tried the personal trainer route... 1st one was never on time and shorted me on my paid time, plus side.. he worked me hard for about 20 min.. negative.. not reliable, 2nd trainer could never fit my schedule into hers... 3rd trainer gave me machines to use on my own and that was about it... I can get a better work out at my house in my pool, don't need to socialize and walk on treadmills, tried to cancel my membership over the phone was told you HAVE to come into the facility to cancel... why? so they can try and have a salesperson talk you out o it?? Seems ridiculous and very inconvenient.. your gym membership can be paid online why couldn't you cancel it there as well?? I have not entered the club in over 4 mo and have already been a member for over a year.. Poor customer Service! read more

This gym is very good for the self-motivated who desires a clean gym with good (newer) equipment. The prices are very reasonable especially for how much you get. I haven't heard of a better deal outside of Las Vegas (LV Athletic Club is the standard for all gyms! Sorry Platinum). The movie room is very good but the chick flicks have got to go! The individual tv's on the cardio machines is nice. The owner is the same as the Gold's Gyms (now also called Platinum) around town. Hopefully the equipment will be better maintained than the downtown and speedway locations. The take-down portion seems to be a disappointment. I'm glad that they are going to re-design some of the space for more varied classes. I really hope it works out well and they can attract & keep good instructors. This place is really beginning to pack them in and for good reason. I've recommended it to dozens of people and about half have joined. Once LA-fitness opens up down the street, it will be interesting to see how it goes for them. LA-fitness is a recruiting powerhouse and Platinum will have to step up it's game. Again, I hope they can attract & keep good instructors for their planned classes....it'll make a difference for customers like me. I really enjoy coming to the gym, especially in the morning. (5am early) They have started having early morning classes that work with my schedule. However, last night I called and asked about their Body Combat class, It said online it was from 5:30- 6:30. When I called and confirmed the guy said that it was set for that time. I arrived around 5:20, only to come find out the gal at the desk knew nothing about a class (It was her first day, not upset at her) and the trainer never showed up. I was not mad, mostly discouraged because i was looking forward to Body Combat. Over all, I have enjoyed coming to Platinum Fitness. Half of the equipment doesn't work, the place is filthy, and the staff is absolutely horrible. I went into the gym 3 times to cancel my husband's membership over the course of a week, with a letter he had hand-written and is too busy to deliver. I kept being told I'd "just missed" the manager and to come back the next day. Today I "just missed" the manager again but decided to wait it out. Lo and behold, after 20 minutes they managed to produce someone who told me that I cannot cancel my spouse's account (!) but he can send a certified letter to the corporate office. I will take care of this today, but now they are losing both our memberships instead of just one. When comedians talk about how impossible it is to cancel a gym membership, this is the place they are talking about. I was going to file a complaint through the BBB, but why bother - they already have an "F" rating. If they continue to bill us after the contracted waiting period I will complain directly to the state AG. read more

One of their personal training representatives Joe worked their and gave me the run down in personal training sessions but obviously didn't communicate well and give me the full information but instead told me I didn't have to continue and things would be fine but now I have a fee of 600 dollars that I was completely surprised about when trying to cancel my membership. The ONLY way I could cancel was to make an additional payment of 300 dollars which makes no sense ... now I have 8 training sessions with this gym that I will never step foot in again . I asked for a "CORPORATE" number but it must be fake because I've tried calling for about a week now and they never answer. Joe doesn't work there anymore and I could only assume why . Don't hire someone who isn't going to give your customers the full run down of a contract. read more

I had a problem with my account - I pay a year in advance and when it came time to pay for the next year they changed my membership and eliminated the guest privileges on both my account and my wife's even though our daughter who pays month to month continues to get guest privileges. I tired to explain to the manager(term used loosely) why I felt this was not correct and he just said well you signed the contract. I guess he is right and I didn't catch it (buyer beware) - but I didn't know the member would change and it wasn't pointed out. So even though I have been a member for 3 years and pay in advance they treat me like this. I was speaking to the manager on the phone and all he could do was repeat the same thing over and over and didn't want to discuss how I felt. he said it would be like going to the store and trying to buy something they no longer have(?). I couldn't get him to stop saying the same thing over and over and finally just hung up. I guess he felt he won and I was the evil customer. I would suggest they spend some money on training the managers on customer service skills. Rule 1 don't just repeat the same thing over and over until someone hangs up. Rule #2 if you change a customer contract you should to point out the differences. Rule #3 don't let morons run the place. read more

my sister-in-law told me about how excited she was when she heard about thus gym opening near where we live. they just opened at the beginning of may and have state-of-the-art equipment. not to mention everything is brand-spankin'-new!! what's great about this gym is that 1. it's conveniently located off of harrison and golf links, 2. membership is very inexpensive 3. they have child care on site 4. tanning boothes 5. a couple hydromassage machines 6. very friendly and helpful staff 7. clean facility child care is $18/month for the first child (i'm not sure how much extra an additional child costs, but it can't be much). they'll watch your kid from 8AM - 1PM and then again from 4PM - 8PM. you get a maximum of two hours per day. it gives you plenty of time to get in a good workout without worrying about your child. i definitely recommend this gym to anyone in the area!! read more
