My parents, Tom and Kindra Hayson, have called Kelly's Plumbing and Heating two different times…read moreover a couple of years. The most recent was this past Wednesday morning, April 10th, to fix a leak in their basement. They were told that they "might" be able to get to them yet that day otherwise they would be there the next day. My parents have waited around for 2 1/2 days and there has been absolutely no phone calls nor anyone from Kelly's Plumbing that has bothered to show up!! This is the most unprofessional, least courteous way to do business in a small town that I can imagine. The worst part is that they did this very same thing a couple of years ago and my parents, did finally get their work done and gave them another chance to "do right." My parents are 83 and 78. They still trust that when a company says they are coming to fix something the company WILL actually keep their word or at least call them and tell them they can't make it. We have many plumbers in Albert Lea. They won't be "bothering" your company again. Hopefully, you'll work harder on your customer relations in the future. Very disappointing!!!

I am an advocate for using local businesses and avoiding large chains and corporations. That was a…read morebig part of the reason, the main reason, that I went with Christianson Plumbing & Heating to fix our gas fireplace. They were also recommended to my wife in a Facebook group when she asked for a recommendation. They also said that they charged no dispatch fee which was excellent news since we live out in the country. The pilot light wasn't working and I am less than qualified to work on a gas-anything. Their man came out on time with no problems. Nice guy. He determined that the issue was the pilot light fixture and they would order a replacement. After they received the pilot light fixture, our issues with Christianson Plumbing & Heating began. Our original appointment for install was placed on November 4th for November 10th between 12:30pm and 1:00pm. We felt this was perfectly reasonable since they were waiting on a part and of course that takes time. The day came and at 8:15 they rescheduled us for November 12th between 2:00pm and 2:30pm. Missing work for a last minute change like that is very frustrating. On the 11th they changed it again with no explanation. This wasn't a big deal as it was just an hour earlier. Then on the 12th, 9 minutes before our scheduled appointment time, they rescheduled us again for the 18th, again no explanation. They proceeded to reschedule us three more times at different times on the 18th. In between these appointments we called, usually with no answer and no calls back, many times. I'll attach the rescheduling texts I received. Their man installed the pilot light fixture on the 18th and both the pilot light and fireplace as a whole worked. Until he left. After he left the fire stopped working but the pilot light was working fine. When we called about it not working again, the reason for failure changed. Now it was two things. The first was that our thermostat couldn't handle our older fireplace. We needed to install a more basic thermostat that isn't programmed but is only tuned to a specific adjustable temperature and is American made. Second was that our fireplace is over 30 years old (it isn't) and is past its life cycle. We decided we did not want to work with them and risk the rescheduling issues again and so we stopped and received our bill. It was over $600. For a still non-working fireplace. Lo and behold they do charge a dispatch fee, one that was especially expensive since we lived in the country. Obviously we were charged for the part and obviously professional labor isn't cheap, but that was too much to pay for what we received. On top of that he left a part off the fireplace that I needed to reinstall myself. It was an easy fix, but still another thing. I went in person and we agreed to reduce the bill by half. I was thankful for that. They also explained that the reason they were rescheduling me without notice was because others heated their houses solely by fireplace and I was less of a priority...my house is also heated solely by fireplace. The reason for the confusion with the dispatching fee was: "I am the dispatcher and I don't get paid a dispatching fee." I ended up installing a thermostat like they recommended by myself. It did not work so I tried one last thing that I was nervous about trying myself out of fear of making things worse. I looked up the wiring diagram and that was when I saw that every-single-wire was in the wrong place. It took me ten minutes to fix and now the fireplace works perfectly fine. That was really no big deal as winter is not quite upon us. I took the day off work to be available for the Monday morning appointment. I phoned Jim and Dudes at about 3PM to see if they were coming out or if I needed to take another day off work. The gal who answered the phone said she would have someone call me back. About an hour later I call a call back. The guy said that he had no idea that I was scheduled to have work done that morning and that he would look at my furnace the next day. At 4PM the next day I got a call from Dave. He said he could come over. He got there by 4:15 and by 4:45 had diagnosed the problem. He said it was an expensive part and that I may just want to get a new furnace rather than throw money and a furnace that would continue to be expensive to repair. He thought that the Draft Inducer Motor for my furnace would be more than $300. He said he would see if they had one at the shop and give me a call. 24 hours goes by... no call. 48 hours goes by... no call. 66 hours later... Dave calls to tell me he has a price for me. I told him that I got sick of waiting for him to get back to me and ordered the part myself online. I think I saved about $165 +installation costs in the process. I will not be calling Jim and Dude's again.

We hired Ron's Electric in Wells, MN to install a new furnace. The initial installation of the…read morefurnace itself seemed to go well, so we felt good about things at first. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience did not live up to that. When the electrician came out to complete the job, he entered our garage without notifying anyone he had arrived, which was unexpected and not very professional. We had also specifically asked for the new AC wiring to be concealed, but that request was not followed and the wiring was left exposed. Within two weeks of installation, the furnace is already not working properly and we've had to arrange for another service visit. While looking into the issue, I discovered that a used breaker had been installed in our panel instead of a new one, which was concerning. Communication was also an issue. My wife was not given clear or complete information during the process, which led to confusion and frustration. Overall, there were multiple breakdowns in communication and follow-through. Based on our experience, I would recommend asking detailed questions and confirming expectations in writing if you choose to work with this company. That means drawing a picture of exactly how you are wanting something done.
