Craig and his wife were perfect hosts. Their restaurant was clean and well presented with lots of herbal teas for medicinal uses setup in the front. Now... since you can't really make an Avocado Toast, Peanut Butter Banana Toast, or Hummus Toast without toast, and you can't really make toast without bread, we understood why they couldn't give us the order we had already paid for. But they made things right by offering us something else, so we opted for a chicken quesadilla which we received for no additional charge. The quesadilla was good with a nice mix of chicken and cheese. As I approached, I saw it was called ToGo Spice Kitchen and the first thing I noticed on the menu was Jollof Rice, which is a flavorful and saucy rice dish often associated with Western Africa cuisine. According to ToGo's IG page, they specialize in Togolese cuisine specifically. The guy working the truck, who I assumed was the owner, was super nice and funny. After asking some questions, I settled on the Jollof rice with lamb, and a combo of the tomato and mango habanero sauce. It also comes with a small salad and Fried Plantains. I could have chosen chicken, beef or salmon instead of lamb. I'm not the most experienced with West African cooking, but I've had it. The Jollof rice had good texture and very good flavor. I loved the sauce. The lamb was bone in. And the meaty parts really hugged the bones. The meat was chewy in a way I don't Iove, but in a way that seems true to other West African food I've had. Seems like maybe that's just the style. The small portions of Salad and Fried Plaintains were both good. I liked the ToGo Spice Kitchen Truck.
