My mom owns a hair salon in upstate NY, so I've had my hair done by her my whole life. It's very hard for me to trust people with my hair. My best friend made an appointment here for me for my birthday. I had joslyn. She was 14 min late, as I was about to leave, she walked in, shit happens so I gave her the benefit of the doubt. She was younger and said she had 7 years experience. Made me nervous. I got a cut and color for $150. She cut about 3 inches off. I had to rush off after it was blow dried, when we left my best friend mentioned my hair looked uneven. It was. I went back and a more experienced hair dresser Elena fixed it up for me. Still wasn't what I wanted my hair to look like but she mad it better. I will not be going back and don't recommend going here. From the moment I called and spoke with yancy/Jancy who is just as sweet as can be, love him to pieces husbenergy is absolutely infectious and he is a cutie pie to boot, love him !! My daughter had an appointment today at 5pm. We showed up 10 mins early and were told it was going to be 20 minutes before she can see my daughter. She (Older woman, grey- short hair) told me I can leave and reschedule or wait because she wasn't going to rush her color in another customer. I don't care if you have someone else, you don't tell me, a paying customer, that I have to wait or leave. What kind of professionalism is that? That completely under value my time. Since my daughter has an event tomorrow, we decided to wait, against my better instinct. However, I look over the woman being colored and she still had a lot to go by 5:15pm. So, got up and told the woman in the reception that we were leaving, and her response? OK! Really?? I waited 15 minutes after my appointment time and I get an OK? How rude!! I'm pretty sure she's not even that good for us to waste our time waiting for her! She needed to plan her appointments better or at least have a plan to do my daughter's shampoo while she finished her precious color. read more

When we got there my husband mentioned he needed a cut and they were able to accommodate him right away! My experience with Lisa was truly amazing and the best hair experience I have ever had. I am visiting from LA and needed a haircut urgently and showed several photos of my usual haircut and the light layers I usually get throughout my hair and emphasized I wanted more of a V cut in the back rather than a blunt cut. I got a perfectly straight cut I couldn't imagine how it could be any more opposite of what I wanted and also much shorter than I wanted. Beware!!!!! My hair is ruined!! Had a consultation with Lisa and showed 6 photos, of the color, dos and donts...expressing leave my natural color as the lowlight and just partial blond highlights. Showed a photo of when someone messed it up 5 years ago making it silver blond. Explained not to change honey bright blond. I left there with no dimension, washed out blond with silver tone. My honey bright blond was gone!! Went back for low light to balance and she turned it burnt orange. The owner attempted to fix and it is now dark brown. I have an important event to attend and now I have had to spend money on deep conditioning with hair that look awful!!! Dont waste your time or money! Look around at all the hair if you dare. This place...Amazing!! I had a balayage that was sloppy and was done half-assed. I had Jessica from platinum salon to correct this mess of hair, although sadly she moved. Worst blowout ever! I'm just visiting from NY and on my Birthday I wanted to look nice before heading out to dinner and later as it turned out my surprise birthday party. What should have been my first clue? When she sat me down sideways in the chair so I could not see what she was doing. Next clue came when she asked how are we cutting your hair? To which I replied "Are you crazy? You're not cutting my hair" Next clue, the receptionist was also the wash hair girl and blowout practice assistant apparently. New to the area, I went here to find someone that might be able to help me get my hair "healthy " again after a previous stylist over-processed it. I now have short hair that is more damaged than everOver-processed, too light (near platinum, only wanted high-lights) & to correct the purple hair I got from toner, the stylist used a flat iron with heat!!! I have been to this salon before and had a really great experience so of course I made an appointment to go back. I walked in and realized I didn't recognize any of the staff and that Platinum Salon was under new ownership. My appointment was at 6:00pm and I was seen at 6:15. I was immediately taken back for my hair to be washed and once my hair was washed I sat in the chair to get my hair cut. Allen cut my hair never said one word to me. I tried to explain what I wanted done and even tried showing him a picture and didn't even bother looking at the photo I was trying to show him. He was very rough and cut my hair very quickly. It was obvious to me that I was one of their last clients of the day and that they didn't care what I wanted they just wanted to hurry up and finish my hair. I was in my car at 6:45. Only 30 minutes to wash, cut, blow dry, and style my hair for $50? No thanks. I felt rushed and unwanted. Not to mention my haircut was also nothing that I wanted. I will never be going back to Platinum Salon and suggest if you actually want someone to listen to what you want done to your hair not to go here. read more

Donna was overbooked and working with two other clients at same time. Not good! I liked the salon itself. Very ecclectic. Men owners. Very nice! The reason why I am writing this review is because I was very unhappy about how my hair turned out so I went back and returned the shampoo and asked for a refund on all services. I have never done that before. One of the owners works the front desk. He immediately refunded my $240.00. Kinda overpriced too. He also said that the other owner Allen would correct it for me. Allen was way too busy to tell me that himself his partner told me. The one owner also offered me a complimentary visit if I wanted to come back. I was very pleased that he had absolutely no problem refunding my money. A lot of salons would not have refunded my money so quickly. I'm sure! I will not be going back. This salon needs to slow down and take more time to listen to their clients. It seemed like all they cared about was overbooking. Again, I can't recommend it. If I could post less than one star I would. I went to Allen Colman the owner of platinum hair salon because he had owned two salons and I assumed he knew what he was doing and that he was a professional. I went to get highlights and I casually mentioned that I wished I could get a perm. Alan convinced me that I could safely get a perm with the highlights that I had. He said they had special perms for highlighted hair and that I shouldn't be worried at all. He even offered to do it in the same day as he did the highlights. I waited two weeks and I deep conditioned my hair during the two weeks. I came back and as you can see, he fried my hair. When I got home I called him and told him my hair was falling out in clumps and that it was fried. He offered no apology nor did he offer to help with the situation in any way. He wasn't interested in seeing it or resolving the problem. . I've never dealt with somebody so unprofessional. There is another yelp review with a woman showing her hair that Allen burnt off. For the first time in three years I wanted to do something with my hair and decided on blonde balyage. I went to a highly rated salon in Tampa by Kennedy and...was so disappointed with the result. The balyage was super stripey and had multiple tones of blonde. I realized how messed up it looked when I was brushing it out at home and knew I needed to have it fixed ASAP. I searched for salons closer to my house and came across Platinum Salon. I saw the great reviews and pictures on Instagram of Lisa's balyage on other clients. I was able to get in same day and she did an amazing job! Night and day with how my hair looked before. She blended incredibly well (blended to the gods), toned down the brassiness and added some necessary depth. So grateful she was able to fit me in so quickly and fix my hair. She is my hair girl moving forward! Loved the whole salon as well. Very clean, everyone was so nice and greeted clients with smiles. Will go again and again :) read more
