Absolutely terrible . I purposely took brand new items just to see if they were going to actually look through the items . And they did not . I put a pair of new flats from Saks that $126.00 for and they said they would give me $5 for them . I put a brand new Nike two piece WITH TAGS and they didn't take it . Then took two shirts from the bag that were 10 years old over the clothes I had in the bag that were only 1 year dated. I rather donate to a clothing drive or put them on FB market. Not to mention the customer service was also terrible . I walked around the store just to see the items they were selling and I know what I had looked better than a few items displayed. I was doing that and putting my dresses on the counter, 2 young employees saw me doing and never mention anything about not taking dresses until another employee came and told me that they don't take dresses. I have come here a handful of times, and have never been successful at selling anything, and not to be biased but I like to think that I have nice clothes in very good condition. This time I approached it differently and had little hope for a different experience, however, I was let down once again. I cleaned out three of my closets at home and nicely folded them into two laundry bins to bring here and upon pick up I was told they were able to keep only 5 items and I would receive $11. BAFFLED. Whats even more irritating is when the guy who dumped all of my other items into the donation pile he picked up one of my shirts and said, "aw this is so cute!". Like do these people even look at the clothes being brought here? I know for a fact that a lot of those clothes were sellable. I was also told that they don't give out slips for donating clothes... This place is a scam. Went to Plato's closet in Carrollton and I'm 1000% sure the employees didn't even go through all the clothes I had. I took in 2 bins of clothes and shoes and one of the bins was for sure untouched. When I got the bin back, everything in the bin was folded exactly the same, in the exact same order of which I packed the stuff in the bin so I know for the fact that it was untouched and it was full of new/gently worked name brand stuff that, some of which still had tags. I've been here only twice to sell things and have been pleased with the amount received. Each Plato's has a demographic audience. I went to one Plato's (garland) that didn't buy any of my items. I strongly advise against visiting this Plato's Closet location. On April 5th, 2025, around 12:30 PM, I brought in several brand-new items, but they only accepted one. They claimed that some items had spots and stains, but everything in my bag was never worn. My first time shopping at this location, I was there for about 15 minutes when an employee with curly hair and glasses said, "There's so many people in here, don't ya'll have a job" while talking to another employee. And it wasn't as if she was whispering it to her, she said it out loud for everyone to hear. You should be thankful people choose to shop at this location, seeing as the clothes are outdated and stuck in the 2010s. You're better off going to Rue 21 which is a couple stores down. Went to go sell some clothes after a massive closet clean out. I'm almost positive they didn't even look through my things because I got a text about 10 min later saying they were done and my bag was given back exactly how i gave it to them. When I went to pick up they said they didn't buy anything because the clothing I brought was for "adults" and they buy teen clothing. I had many items that teens would have worn along with claw clips. I feel like they looked at the top few items and disregarded the rest. Very annoying but I guess my items will be more appreciated at a women's shelter. read more

Also appreciated that they were willing to donate the rest of it for us to save us a trip to the donation bin. Just sold here today and had a smooth experience. The people working here were happy to assist me and seemed to like their jobs very much, which is usually not the case at other Plato's locations. They offered me $26ish for 8 items, which isn't great but is pretty typical. I see it as paying for the convenience as opposed to having to list on eBay. I only found one dress I wanted to purchase. In terms of inventory, this location is slacking. Tons of Miss Me jeans and pilling t-shirts though if that's your style. The merchandisers here don't seem to take the quality of the item too much into consideration since a lot of their stuff is clearly shrunken or has pulls in the fabric or has stains. read more

They do carry great brands at reasonable prices which is the only reason I'm giving 2 stars, but they gave me a no buy for over 20 pairs of jeans in great condition (some with the tag still on). I went to Once Upon a Child first who gave me $8 for a few pairs saying they didn't accept larger sizes. This is somewhat understandable, however the jeans were up to size 16 in girls which is a children's size...I decide to give Plato's closet a try where I am assured they take tween/teen clothing including sizes up to 18 in girls. We wait over an hour for a no buy with the only explanation being "sizes and styles" which almost directly contradicts what I was previously told, and my two trash bags full of jeans were slammed on the counter with a fake "have a good evening." I'll try again with more recent styles, but I don't have high hopes. read more

The pros: we got a pretty good deal on a dress for one of the twins. The cons: This place is total chaos. There were people and clothes and shoes and crap EVERYWHERE! The place has somewhat of an organization thing going... but it's as if a teenager did it. Example: We ask a sales associate where the size 9 1/2 shoes are. Her reply: Oh, they are arranged by color, not size. Uhhmmmm... makes total sense... wait, no it doesn't. There are masses of people crowding the small space, scrambling for deals and there are some really great deals. However, once you find your really great deals, you wait in line to pay for them for about 30 minutes because there is ONE PERSON ringing up sales when there are about 40 or 50 people in this teeny tiny space. I think I'll try again sometime at the one back home in ATX on a weekday, though; Saturdays are not worth the headache. Seriously, it was a madhouse. read more

Plato's Closet Carrollton is located in an older shopping plaza with plenty of parking. Customer service is a little better than the other locations. They accept more and offer decent money for what I've brought in before so I would recommend selling here over the other locations. The store is bigger than the Plano location and has plenty of good finds for men and women. Overall, would recommend. read more

For buying clothes this place is really good but for selling clothes don't go. I got like $35 for selling a backpack, like 2 pairs of jeans, and a pair of Birkenstocks. All of these clothes I wore 2-4 times and the Birkenstocks I wore once. read more

The staff looked at me like they were very annoyed that I was there and then proceeded to ignore me standing at the front today. Finally, one annoyed woman helped me and prompted me to fill out my information. They took 10 minutes to look through my things, and then told me that they could not take a single item because they were all out of date. Most of the things I brought in were recently bought from boutiques that had happened to not fit me or were lightly worn. Came back yesterday thinking maybe a year later the selections would have improved. Nope. The clothes are out of style, smell weird and are frumpy. The employees act like they don't care as well. I don't understand why it's like this because every other Platos Closet I've been to was awesome. In Mechanicsburg, PA I would buy pretty much all of my clothes from there. That being said, the one in Frisco is much better, so drive a bit further. The buying must be stricter there because the clothes are in better condition. I will just drive to Frisco even though I live in Carrollton. Totally worth driving further for, because the clothes here are overpriced for the quality. read more

Thrift shopping is like treasure hunting but you aren't going to find too many hidden treasures in this store. The one positive is that they carry a large selection of Miss Me jeans that run about $35 a pair. Nothing wearable as far as shoes are concerned, mostly beat up cheapo brands you see on sale for the same price at Ross or Burlington Coat Factory. As for clothes, they carry a lot of Forever 21 and other disposable clothing lines. I won't completely knock the place as their stock is only as good as the clothes that are brought in for sale. They do keep their items much more organized than other thrift stores and they have plenty of dressing rooms. It's ok if you are looking for thrift store jeans, for now, pass on everything else. read more

Been here three times total. This February, the place was organized correctly by size and color. The men's section was all by itself and not mixed in. The staff was properly trained and walked me through the process of selling my clothes back all in its entirety unlike last time. I didn't feel like I was ripped off when I sold my clothing. One of the cons were, two members of the team members were teenagers and they were really unprofessional. What is sad is....I say "it's a huge improvement" when really, that is a basic thing in a clothing store. Currently, I wouldn't shop here, because there wasn't any "real deals." I was told the wait would be 25min and ended up waiting over an HOUR just so the woman could buy back only 2 items of clothing for $3. First off, this store is very unorganized and smells like cigarette smoke; a lot of very low quality clothes (rue21, forever21, H&M, etc.) for not even a fair, low price. I've sold to this specific location many times before and I popped in one day a couple weeks ago to sell again and they said I was not able to sell if I was under 18 (I'm 17). I called the other Plato's closets in the area and they do not have this rule, they just need a drivers license in order to sell. This staffing is subpar and the wait one time was 3.5 hours in store. read more
