I just returned home from the official opening day of this jewel of a store today and I was blown…read moreaway by the enthusiasm of all the excited shoppers. There is definitely something for everyone. I left with a sequined cocktail dress that I intend to wear to my grandson's wedding ( so you can guess my age group) as well as an elegant top to dress up a pair of white jeans. Both set me back under $120. Amazing. There's an Emanuel jacket that I may have to return to buy. It was under $50. While I was there, the younger set was busy finding tiny dress treasures and YSL handbags. This was a sophisticated/ mixed age group. I overheard many shoppers tell Erin that they had been eagerly anticipating the store opening as they watched the changes she has made to the property over the past few months. You can tell she loves her store. Erin was beaming as she helped shoppers put outfits together. One woman looked so gorgeous in a long sequined evening gown that her companions audibly gasped. When the woman questioned whether her daughter ( the bride ) would think it suitable for the wedding party, Erin encouraged her to bring it home to physically show her daughter! WHAAAT? I wondered if she knew her personally, but, no. Erin told me it was just the right thing to do. You cannot believe the inside! Paint pens are available to write messages on the bright pink bathroom walls. Those left there after just one day were so cute. So there's something for everyone and you'll have fun shopping...for a change. Remember those days? They are no longer in the rear view mirror. Go to Newtown and see for yourself.

Every year Santa comes and kids line up from across the country to sit on his lap and tell them what they want. In Darien, that could be a new Canada goose jacket (available at DSS) or a new pair of Nordic skis (available at DSS). Maybe even a new Range Rover (not available but DSS can order it). And for the adults who brave the intense December line to catch a glimpse of the big guy, they setup a makeshift bar (no charge of course) with Bloody Mary's, Mimosas, Beer, Wine, all the fixings. Back to Santa, did I mention this guy is the real deal? He claims that he runs a bird seed shop in the off season, lol. Yea Kringle, I ain't buying it. The older house has two 1st floor rooms with racks of clothes that are not the usual Talbots, Gap and Kohls. Here you'll find lots of Lily Pulitzer, Anthropology, Gretchen Scott and a plethora of other unusual brands for all ages. All I want to know is, where and how do people find this wonderful stuff? The proprietors are friendly, and live and blog locally. While hanging out in the front room and eyeballing their wonderful selection of woven and shell bracelets, a customer arrived who had taught in my district, and we had loads of fun discussing the characters we knew in common.
