I was honestly a little hesitant to come here to buy and sell clothes because of the low rating, but I decided to give it a shot since it was the closest location-and I'm so glad I did! First off, the store was way bigger than I expected, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. I'm big on energy, and I've been to other Plato's Closets where the vibe just felt off. But this one felt totally different-welcoming, kind, and open. Dropping off my clothes was super simple. Even though there were only a few staff working, they assisted me quickly and clearly explained how the drop-off and pick-up process works. When I came back, they took the time to explain why certain items weren't chosen, which I appreciated. Overall, it was a smooth and positive experience-and the store had some really great finds too! Don't let the low rating stop you; this location deserves more credit. read more

Really terrible customer service experience. I am an avid Plato's shopper usually spending upward to $200+ each visit and frequent this store fee time a month. As I was assisting my niece in viewing her clothes and helping out the clothes back on the hanger and rack. I wanted to try on 2 short on 20 min before close at 6 pm on Sunday. The representative at the cashier (her name is Delaney) told me that they do not let anyone else try on clothes 20 minutes before close and made no announcement prior. She claimed it was store policy which I find interesting since last week when I came into the store the manager allowed me to quickly try on clothes prior to close. I never write bad reviews but this experience really rubbed me the wrong way. If you have certain store rules regarding when you close the dressing rooms or etc then it should be announced prior as well as have some sort of sign stating this. read more

Came in today to sell some clothes. First off it took almost 2 hours... on a Thursday morning. I got here at 11 AM. Which that's not the problem, the problem is that the 3 girls in charge of buying the clothes just sat behind the counter and giggled and sang for 1 of the hours I waited. I didn't see them work for the entire hour. This experience sucked and they should let you leave if they're just going to mess around while you wait. read more

So here's my motto, "when all else fades, the money in your wallet shouldn't be one." As a model, I must always stay up-to-date with the latest trends each season. That can get expensive, especially when you are a full time model. Therefore, a lot of my hauling derives from trendy consignment shops and stores like Plato's Closet. They always stay up-to-date on the latest trends. They even offer cash for gently worn trends. Now, I do shop all over from high end to thrifts. I'm just not fond of wasting money on fashions that is in one season and out the next. Plato's have this cool new app that you can collect stamps towards receiving 20% off your next purchase. Ever so often, they host a BYOBag saving event where you can bring any size bag - seriously ANY SIZE - and fill it up with items in which you would get up to 90% off the ENTIRE bag. Most importantly, I've built such a great report with the general manager there after visiting so many times to the point that they get excited when I visit them and is always looking forward to me sharing my fashion statements and photos on social media. USUALLY ITS BUYERS BEWARE THIS TIME ITS SELLERS BEWARE‼ I was hoping the 1 star reviews weren't true BUT THEY ARE! Went in yesterday to sell one small duffle bag of plus size clothes. The 1st associate I was greeted by when I first entered the store was very pleasant. I checked in via a QR code. She asked for my Id and everything was so far so good. I informed her I had to run an errand and I would be back so I could browse the store she said that was fine. Not even 10 mins later my buy was complete. When I returned to the store I looked around the store to see if I could score some nice plus size pieces. Everything they had to offer in plus size was old outdated and nobody is wearing. So I thought surely they took a few items to add to their none existent fashionable plus size section. When I got half way thru my search I noticed my bag was sitting on the counter. That looked like it hadn't been touched or gone thru at all. By that time I was ready to check out and not continue my search around the store I got in line. Another female associate ( not the first associate)asked if I was ready. She asked for my id which I handed to her and she instead of placing my id back in my hand she placed my id on the counter. That really ticked me off. Learn some manners!!! Working in customer service others would have went off. Then comes the generic spill of why they couldn't take any items from me. One of the ridiculous reasons she stated was due to the clothes being worn. Let me be clear the whole entire bag of clothes were brand spanking new without tags . This store has the worst customer service. went up there to bring clothes in, waited 45 minutes for what? walked out with 13 dollars for 7 of our items when the women besides walked out with 20 for 6 items. The worker who handed us our stuff back was in such a rush to go home, she forgot our money and just told us bye, we had to have her reopen and the register and give us our money, after she did that she said "I'm going home now". you call and ask what they take but when your bring the stuff up there they don't take it?? we brought in 100 dollar jerseys which they said they would take and she said "they wouldn't sell" what?? the jerseys we brought in were nicer then the ones on the rack. All they have our teenage girls who sit around and do nothing but chit chat. the store has no structure, the girls talk about whatever they want. talking about scared to go on airplanes, cruise ships, etc. nothing work related. would be surprised if this went out business soon. read more

Would love to give this place a better review because I have been coming here for over two years where I've had no complaints, staff were super friendly, never had any problems. When thrifting you pick up what you would wear and what you think fits you and you go try it on, majority of the time I always have 10+ items because I want to get all the gems I can. My last time visiting I was told I could only take 6 items in the dressing room at a time, I asked if it was new because I was there the day before and it wasn't like that, not to mention as I was browsing the rack by the changing rooms a worker came over and shut an open stall, when previously they had been leaving them opening and telling other customers they can walk right in. And normally I would think that's fine if that's what they did from the start but this is far into their business, there are security tags on everything, I just don't understand because it makes it harder on the customer to try things on and buy thing. I had to pick out 6 shirts first that I took into the changing room, then I had to get back dressed, go outside, put the clothes I don't want on the return rack and they put the clothes I want on the outside of my door just so I can try on more risking someone coming and taking the things I have already tried on and picked out because the worker moved the mannequin with displayed clothes on it from the outside of my door so having to put them in that spot where anyone is welcome to grab them did not sit right with me. I would've been perfectly fine with them telling me I can only take 6 in at a time and that they would help me swap them out, having to get fully dressed to open the door and switch things is such a waste of time I shouldn't have experienced. Whenever stores tell you you can only take 6 in at a time there is always an associate right outside waiting for you to ask them to help you switch the clothes. So it did not sit right with me to have to WORK to buy my clothes. Honestly next time I want to go to Plato's I'll call the Mandarin store ask if they do that policy as well and if not I'd head that way because honestly the clothes available over there and the buy back rate is better. I thought regency Plato's would make enough money from not paying out people properly who bring in their clothes but I guess not. Hopefully one of my friends goes into the regency location soon and report back to me that they stopped doing that because of proximity I would go back but only after that stops, way too much work for me not much reward. read more

Absolute trash. Brought in a bag with 52 items. Urban Outfitters, Princess Polly, American Eagle, Hollister, you name it. They bought 8 items and gave me $24. I should have not accepted it took back my clothes! Then the girl told me the didn't buy more due to having too much inventory. Meanwhile, the shelves are packed with PINK from 2012 and beat-up fashion nova. I would recommend donating those dusty, old out of style clothes and making room for some profitable pieces. Funny thing is, out of everything they bought from me, most of it was SHEIN So they skipped on the name brand trendy items for SHEIN. These girls are clueless and this store's a joke for advertising to trendy juniors. The clothes are giving overpriced Goodwill in there. I would rather just go to Goodwill! read more

I've been a pretty loyal customer here for almost 2 years now. The other day they posted a pair of shoes on their Instagram and another person put it on hold, they said they would put it on hold until 9pm. I messaged them after 9 and they told me if it was still there in the morning they will put it on hold for me. The girl didn't pick it up. She came the next morning and sold it to HER. When it should have been on hold for ME. I messaged them and they seemed to just brush it off like it was nothing. Thats a terrible system and so unprofessional. Brought in gymshark, darcsport, lululemon items and they didn't take it because they're "not taking shirts or active wear" quite interesting in my opinion. Called them at 3:30 and asked what time they stop taking clothes and they said 4 Got there at 3:50 and they said "sorry but we're not taking anymore so told them that I had called and they said I had until 4, so she sucked it up and took my stuff. I heard a commercial that Plato's closet was in need of denim. I washed and folded a large bag of denim pants and khackis and gathered some nearly new Nike tennis shoes. I dropped off two large bags and they told me it would be over an hour. Before the hour was up I received a text that they were ready for me. I went back, and they told me that they didn't wish to purchase any of my things due to "inventory". From the window it didn't look like they were full of shoes and jeans at all. I don't even think they went thru the items because they shoes were in the same order as when I left them. I will never be back. Waste of gas, time and effort. read more

I love shoes. I will go anywhere to get cute shoes. Between this location and the other on Southside - this will lose every time. Reasons: organization, etiquette, quality of clothing. This place never seems organized. I always see items on the floor. Always see areas overstocked, always see rows that are bare. Every time no matter the day or hour. I also always see at least two store associates that don't appear to be doing anything. Not sure if there is a consistent turnover and they are training? But I can't say I've ever seen training occurring? Someone with arms filled with items or a line of customers asks, "(random girl doing nothing) do you know how to use the register/tag items on sale/returns/etc"? (Random girl doing nothing), "nope." And she normally continues to stand there. - Why are you here? Most of the people that work here probably also attend/attended high school together and spend too much time together. The amount of TMI that is shared is inappropriate for a business atmosphere. Example: discussing groupons for boob job, an employee calling out and debating if she's pregnant or hung-over, discussing a customer wearing a scarf on her head as "she's Muslim on the weekend." A large amount of the clothing looks like it belongs in a rag bin instead of hangers. Not speaking on choice of style but the quality of clothing. Some things probably shouldn't have been accepted for resale. But the saving grace is the shoes. I've found Ted Baker heels, Betsey Johnson pumps, Jessica Simpson Boots, Nine West sandals, and many more for less than 75% of the original cost. We visited this store with my brother and my sister-n-law, sort of tagging along after we ate lunch at a nearby restarant in the same plaza. While getting my steps in lol I was a bit sceptical at first but my brother explained the deals he's come across and how they have gently used & new name brand everything.. I was floored when my son ran up to me and was like "Mom Look" I was sitting by the door with my nephew when I jumped up quick. To my surprise it was Brand new Nike's the same ones I was going to buy off line for $110 They had them for, get this... $75 I mean.... come on. So after being in the store sort of babysitting my handsome nephew sitting by the door. I was now up and shopping. I purchased 8 dresses 2 skirts and 1 pair of shoes for myself total was $77.63 all had brand new tags on them. I purchased the Nike shoes separately Ended up getting them for $65 They have coach handbags, designer perfumes, jewelry, shoes, clothing, etc. You don't understand how much I enjoyed this store. I can't believe that I have been sleeping on this store. The employees were very nice and knowelegable. My son had another pair of shoes he wanted but he couldn't find the left shoe. The employee went to the back and looked for like 20 minutes for that shoe but couldn't find it. Although he was a little dissapointed the other shoe was not found. The fact that she was in the back really searching to find it was enough for us to be satisfied and impressed with the level of determination and level of customer service. Beware of theft when selling clothes and coronavirus with no employees wearing masks. Where are the adults and masks at? Came to shop and sell clothes and all the employees were unprofessional high schoolers. Sorting clothes can't be that stressful that you can't act professional toward your customers. Everyone was wearing their mask underneath their chin, not one employee wearing a mask over their mouth or nose. One girl ripped one of my shirts as she was taking it off the hanger and they stole my more expensive designer items. Will never come to any Plato's again! Not worth it. I got totally jacked they took many items I did not realize until I left had expensive items and they gave me $18 which they said was just for shoes. When I got to FiFis I realized they took all my designer jeans, vintage items that were all in dry cleaning papers. I just did not expect this type of scam, they encourage you to browse. Stay with your clothes, count items, watch clerks don't expect much i honestly wish I would of taken to a shelter. Store is a wreck pretty ghetto. Review of Blanding Store: Staff was very nice and helpful but if you are plus-size and over 21 forget about donating. Not a lot of the plus size tops and some of those were more than "gently worn". Thought the handbags in better condition were overpriced esp since you could go next door to Bealls Outlet and get new ones for same or lower prices. They had a LOT of shoes in sizes 6-9--mostly super high heels--in various states of wear. You wait a LOOOONG time for them look over your stuff for consignment and if you can't stay til they get to yours you have to come back within 24hrs if you want what little cash you may be lucky enough to get. In future I may pop in to look around but I won't bother bringing in my new and good quality/condition clothes, bags or shoes to consign. Better to just donate them to charity. read more

I sell my clothes at this particular Plato's Closet since it's the closest. The young girls there are always rude, chatty and love to gossip, sometimes about other customers. The last time I was there, they were all jumping up and down and singing. Who the h*ll allows that anywhere that provides customer service? PC would be better off hiring little kids. I normally go in with a few full bags of nice named brand stuff, some I've never worn. They usually would tell me 30 minutes wait and when I go up 40 minutes later, my bag was never touched. I had to wait another 30 and when I finally went after that, the girl finally took my bag out to look through, only because I had waited twice the amount of time and was standing there at the register. They would give me like $20 for a bag of nice stuff and give the rest back and say it's not in style or has wear, which is false. They are within 6 months and I would never bring things in with stains or tears to try to sell, I donate those. Wish there was another company who buys clothes without consigning because I'd never step foot in another PC again. read more

If I could give this place a negative review believe me I would. I went into Plato's Closet to see what it was all about. The stuff is definitely meant for ages 13-25 possibly early 30's. I'm used to shopping at Saver's which is definitely similar, but sells stuff for everyone and geared for all ages. I went in with 2 large bags worth of clothes that were in AMAZING condition, out of everything they took out 1 matching sweat suit from Aeropostale, 1 pair of sweats also from Aeropostale, and a zip up sweater vest. In the 2 bag it consisted of a few nice semi-winter coats, Victoria Secret stuff, and a bunch of shoes. For all of the items they took I got $20. The girls who work there are extremely rude, don't care about their customers, and would rather talk amongst each other then give good customer service. I've worked retail on and off for about 7+ years. If I were a secret shopper, they would totally be SCREWED! I suggest not selling them your stuff, its definitely not worth it. Plus they only want stuff from the stores that are less than 6 months to a year old worth of "fashion" so to speak. If you go in their to buy, check everything because I noticed they had stuff that had missing buttons, rips, and bad stains. read more

Upon walking in, my roommate and I were immediately greeted with an annoyed salesperson. It was like she did not even want to be there! Our piece of paper, that you write your name down on was practically thrown at us and that was just the beginning. Terrible customer service..only one of the girls was nice. I have sold several items here in the past and was shocked when we were turned away with our name brand clothing...some with tags even. I would not recommend this place to any of my friends, I will be selling these items on eBay instead. read more

You can find some good deals if you just look. Just be aware some of the price tags are a little high for the merchandise being used. And don't always disclose a holes etc. in the clothes. The store is honestly over packed with clothes and shoes! That might be good for some people but not me. The quality of the clothes is not that great. The shoes look too worn down. It's overwhelming.The staff is good though. They need to get rid of a ton of clothes that look like it's been there for years since they only take in clothes 6 months to a year I believe, it should be the same thing with what they have on the racks or someway to make it better.
